What is Item Category in SAP CRM ? Where exactly it will be useful ?  Please explain in detail.
Edited by: Rajanand Tadakamadla on Nov 6, 2010 12:46 PM

Hello Rajanand,
1. Item Category :
You define the item categories for business transactions.Like transaction types, an item category is assigned to one or more business transaction categories
An item category specifies the properties and attributes of a business transaction item, and therefore controls how the item is processed
First, you assign the item category to an item object type. The item object type defines the business context in which an item category is used.
ExampleBUS200140- CRM Service Product Item.
2. Item Category Group
With the help of the item category group, you review the various products from a business view for item category determination. Enter the item category group for each product in the product master.(T Code COMMPR01)
During business transaction processing, the system creates the item category from the item category group for the product, and from the business transaction category, and proposes it in the document.
You can assign item categories to business transaction types and item category groups in the process Maintain item category determination.
3.Item Categories Usages
The item category usage is generally used for items that do not refer to a product (for example, Free Items, text items).
The item category usage is assigned to the respective transaction types when the item category is determined. When processing documents, the system determines the item category from the transaction type and item category group or the item category usage and proposes it in the document.

  • What is Report category in SAP-HR Reports ?

    Hi SAP-HR Experts .
    Dear Friends tell me about
What is Report category in SAP-HR Reports ?
    How to create it ?
Can we set authorizations for a Repots , if Yes the how can we set it .?
Please elaborate your replies with examples .
    Best Regards to ALL .
    Rajneesh .

Report Category are used in reports with an LDB, usually PNP. Basically it's the configuration for the selection screen when the report is called. Among the choices you have which fields should appear on the first page, if sorting is allowed, etc, all sort of configuration.
    How to see.
You can take one example, for example RPCALP0 (portuguese version, just substitute P0 with the version you use). Go to transaction SE38 and exhibit the report. Then yoy must select GOTO-->ATTRIBUTES and on the bottom tray there is a button that reads "HR report category". Just click that and on the next popup click Report Category again. So you have an example there of report category __M00001.
To create it's the same way, when you EDIT a report and click on report category the next popup has a create button.
The second question about authorization, it's quite simple, you can either use standard objects of authorization (like P_ORG for example), or your own Z objects. The sintax in ABAP is :
        AUTHORITY-CHECK OBJECT 'Z_AREA_SUB'
                 ID 'PERSA' FIELD w_werks
                 ID 'BTRTL' FIELD w_btrtl.
        if sy-subrc <> 0.
          CONTINUE.
        endif.
This is an example for a Z object to read authorization for WERKS and BTRTL of an employee.

  • What is 'date range' in SAP CRM?

I am SAP CRM beginner. Also very new to SDN. Reading very basic documents.
While reading Marketing related document (Campaign Management), I have come accross a term called ' date range ' where I am really confused with -
what is - date range, pre-dip- post-dip, buying period........
& what is the use of the same.

    hi
date range specifies that in a particular transaction what is the validity of the transaction, for example LEAD<ACTIVITY etc are the transactions we have in CRM
as u said you saw it in campaing management, there date reange specifies the start date and end date opf the campaign
whenever we start a acmapaing after executing it we have some start date from where we got to see the results of the campaign,
you define an additional date range that has a specific meaning, for example, pre-dip or post-dip, you need to select the corresponding period type in this activity. This is used to trigger validation of the dates in the BW System.
You should define at least one buying pattern type in Customizing for Marketing Planning and Campaign Management under Basic Data -> Define Default Buying Pattern Types.
For Instance  you can define that the buying period should start weeks before the promotion takes
place and that buying finishes weeks before the end of the promotion. You define the buying period
as a date range in Customizing and then you can enter the actual dates here. A buying pattern can
be defined for each combination of campaign type, buying pattern type and duration.
also technically if u know about date range in CRM
i would like to explain like this that
    there is a thing "milestone"
this refers to the range of date from start to end
withinthe particular date that you mention inside the transaction u do the needed task like u create a new task and u do the buying and u generate invoice
in simple terminology we have date range which specifies the start of a particular task and there is always an end date at which this task has to end,so take this way
check out the date range in trade promotion (trade promotion is an alternate for the campaing in CRM)

    Hi Chinta,
You have to create the Document via using T-Code CV01N, in that you have to give in the Document Type which is to be configured in SPRO. and also you need to give the Document Part and Version.
then you get into the screen, and give in the description,
and the create the Attachment in the Originals Tab, there you have to first give in the document type,
again in the original field browse the document and attach the same.
then remember to right click the document and check in and save the same henceforth a no will be generated.
you can use this number with Item Category "D"
    Hope it helps you.

  • What is qualifier table and where exactly we will use that

    Hi experts,
I have one query regarding qualifier table. where exactly we use qualifier table. can u give me any realtime situation where we use qualifier table.
    Regards
    Ravikumar

    Hi Ravikumar,
A qualified table is a special kind of lookup table. It can be used to efficiently store complex relationships between a main table record and one or more lookup table records that contain various types of additional information.
    Go Through Important Links
    /people/pooja.khandelwal2/blog/2006/03/29/taming-the-animal--qualified-tables
    /people/community.user/blog/2006/12/20/so-is-that-the-qualifier-or-the-non-qualifier
A qualified table stores a set of lookup records, and also supports qualifiers, database u201Csubfieldsu201D that apply not to the qualified table record by itself, but rather to each association of a qualified table record with a main table record.
Qualified lookup tables are used to store the values of Two types of fields Qualifiers and non Qualifiers.
Qualifiers are the fields whoes values changes based on the values of other fields called Non Qualifiers. And are associated with the main Table Records.
Non Qualifiers are only part of Qualified lookup Tables.
In Data Manager QualifiedLookUp Tables appear in the lower right Part.
For example in your main table supoose you have an Employee Repository that maintains employee information (Name,Telephone,Address etc). One employee can have sitting arrangement on different office locations.
Then if Location is your main table field in that case for 10 places you have to make 10 seperate entries of One Employee name with different locations, that will unnecessarily increase the records of your main table and also duplicate for Employee name field as well.
To resolve this make a look up field location in main table for qualified lookUp Table Locations.
In Locations table create a Non Qualifier field OfficeADD(lookup flat )for Officelocation table .
And create two more fields DeskNo. and Telephone No.(both as qualifiers)for every location the desk no. and telephone no. will be different.
In Officelocation table has one field Name which contains address of diffrent locations.
Now according to the Qualifier and Non Qualifier concept
In main table for an Employee say Ravindra you can go qualifiedLookUp table and select a value for OfficeADD(a non qualifier) and set valus for Desk no. and telephone no.(Qualifiers) as well.

It is not difficult to know what user is logged in.  You may check license status directly from different color user id.  Or you may check B1UPF.xml.
However for the Where, there is no easy info.  You mat check this thread:

  • SAP HANA - where exactly will it fit in the SAP System landscape!

I have been trying to get things on HANA to make it clear and see what is the different functionality of HANA and where would this product exactly Fit into.
For example, let's say, we have ECC for serving all the business needs and daily transactions ( so purely OLTP ), BW or BI for analyzing & decision making ( so purely OLAP).
If we talk about HANA would it just replace the BWA with additional smartness of adapting source directly from ECC / OLTP based systems  apart from BW/BI system ? or is it more than that ?
I tried out few links on getting HANA documentation (https://cw.sdn.sap.com/cw/docs/DOC-126347
and https://cw.sdn.sap.com/cw/community/docupedia/hana)  and could not get hold of it - probably released for limited/Ramp-up customers only.
Is there a way to get hold of such documentation?
    Regards,
    Premkishan Chourasia

    Experts:
    I try to access
    (https://cw.sdn.sap.com/cw/docs/DOC-126347
    and https://cw.sdn.sap.com/cw/community/docupedia/hana
but get "no authorization" at both sites.
I did log into above using my SDN ID.
    How to fix this?
    Thanks a lot!
