What is RPM portfolio Item in Investment Management?

Hi All,
We are trying to install business content for Investment Management module. There is a web template in this module, we have installed all these properly. Now when i run this template i see a message "No RPM portfolio Item has been specified".
In the underlying queries there is info object Item Detail on which a SAP Exit variable. I tried to study the SAP Exit code but this is not of much use. Even while debugging the query the value for this variable is not being set.
So i wanted to know more about RPM portfolio item, what is this, where do we have to set/specify it?
Any inputs are highly appreciable.

    It is release dependeant, please take a look my notiz I made sometime before:

    the linked cProject: /RPM/GET_LINKED_CPROJECT_GUID or DB   
    DB table /rpm/item_il, where parent_guid = /rpm/item_d~guid.

    A portfolio item is used to represent a single idea, concept or project. An initiative is typically a very large project or program or initiative which can contain multiple portfolio items. That's a high level explanation, let me know if you have anything more specific in mind.

    1. Create a domain
    2. Create a data element using the domain from step 1.
    3. Create a value table with key fields CLIENT
    and say (any other field ) VALUE (using the data element from step 2) value table is  say ZVALTAB
    4. Activate all
    5. Assign value table to domain from step 1.
    6. Add field  ZZ_VALTAB to include CI_RPM_ITEM_ATT and assign
    value help to this (SE11 -> tab Fields -> Foreign Key Icon)
    eg.
    Check table ChkTablFld For.key table Foreign Key Field
    ZVALTAB CLIENT     SYST          MANDT
    ZVALTAB VALUE      /RPM/ITEM_D   ZZ_VALTAB
    save and activate all
    7. populate the value table
    8. check the customizing via
    SPRO
    SAP xApp Resource and Portfolio Management
    >Global Customizing
    >Global Field Settings
    >Define Custom Field Configuration
    => RIH: add field ZZ_VALTAB with service 000000000000009 on Field Configuration.
    In addition add also field ZZ_VALTAB on UI Configuration
    9. Add the field in customizing activity Assign Field to Tab Pages.
    Thereafter the values are shown on the drop down box.

    Scenario:  Need porfolio management item details in Sap portfolio management to fill the required interactive form when saving the details same like as interactive form (filled with the portfolio item details) is displayed when we click
    porfolio management-> portfolio items-> <Item id>-> print fact sheet-> preview in sap net weaver portal.
    Problem: How will be all the item details filled in the form which is displayed after clicking the preview button in print fact sheet(Portfolio Management).

    Its nice to see you and thanks for response. I am sorry as I was traveling couldn't reply. My requirement is to display ECC data(I am using FM) in BO report and I read that there is concept called Business View Manager. So can you please suggest me whether to use BVM to improve Crystal Report performance or not required.
    And also if report consists of more number of columns(200+), whats the best way to design Crystal Report? I mean if we have all fields in one row than it is hard to read especially if there are long descriptive fields. In that case Subreports, Hyperlinks etc or some other way to make it user friendly and readable format.
    Please let me know if you need additional info and greatly appreciate your help. Only question is if we have more number of columns and rows whats the SAP best practice for designing/formatting Crystal Report.

    What is the error you are getting when you are adding the tcode.
    Have you checked the role of the system.....if not then
    in solar01 goto sap menu
    Business blueprint->sytem role...choose the appropriate system role
    In addition have you generate the Project IMG in the satellites system using solar_project_admin tcode  under system landscape tab

    Hi,
    This item category is used for components which are not kept in stock if they are used in a bill of material (BOM). Non-stock items can be entered in the BOM with or without a master record. To enter a non-stock item without a master record, you must simply enter a descriptive text.
    When you use this item category, the system automatically creates a purchase requisition for these components,
    Special functions
    The following functions are supported for non-stock items
    • You maintain purchasing data for non-stock items in the bill of material.
    • In the planning run, the system generates purchase requisitions
    instead of dependent requirements for components that are procured directly. When you configure your R/3 System for MRP, you can define whether direct procurement is triggered by the planning run or by production order management.
    • Product costing processes take valuation data from the BOM item.
    The system determines the release strategy on the basis of the price data you enter. The material group is required to produce a purchase requisition.

    Hello,
    We are implementing SAP PPM 5.0 for our client. I am facing issue in Portfolio and Project Management Linking.
    I am following steps mentioned below.
    1. Create Portfolio Item
    2. Fill the required details
    3. Select "Create Project on Saving" option
    4. Select template from the drop down
    5. Save and close the Item
    6. Revisit the Item
    7. Project is created and the is appearing relationship tab -- Related Objects
    As the Item is saved and the Project is created. I go to Project Management and open the project. Here I am not able to see any Portfolio details.
    Configurations/Master data
    I have done following back end activities
    1. Project Template Created
    2. Template released
    3. Mapping of Template with Project Item Type
    Am I missing any configuration? How can I see the portfolio details in project management?
    Please help.

    The storage you purchased is in the cloud, and doesn't do anything with your pad.  Your problem is simply that you have too much content on your pad.   Go to settings, general, usage, and it will show you how much space you have avaliable on your pad.  If you let the screen sit for a while, all the apps will be displayed, and you can see how much stuff you have associated with each.
    You have to no option but to delete some of the content on your pad.  Videos, comics, pitcures and some music files use a lot of space.   The cloud allows you to leave stuff there, so you can get it when you need it.

    IM experts,
    I created some new planning versions, When I go to assign version in investment management, I go to new entries, I select teh program typy, but when I go to choose the Version they are not in the selection screen.
    Can some please help to see what am I missing to assign? so that I can assign versions to Invesment Management?

    When we assign budget in IM32, lower level WBS budget will be total up to Top Level WBS, which can see in Distributed.
    My question is If we add budget at Top level WBS at certain intervals, that total budget added will be available in DISTRIBUTABLE.
    Is there any Distributable report which can help me how much is added at each interval and distribution of that budget.
    Please help me with Tables / Report which can give us the detailed information.
