The accounts payable component of SAP R/3 contains four types of transaction blocks namely:

you can control per storage type whether an HU is allowed or not.
so you do not assign the HU but a setting if HUs are allowed or not.
You can create a new HU in various processes e.g. picking or packing. It's not possible to list all possibilities here.

 Just to add some more valuable information.
Organisational master data : Every company is structured in a certain way. In order to work with the SAP System your company structure has to be represented in the system. This is done with the help of various organizational structures.
Condition master data : In sales and distribution, products are sold or sent to business partners or services are performed for them. Data about the products and services as well as about the business partners is the basis for sales processing. Sales processing with the SAP R/3 System requires that the master data has been stored in the system.
Material master data : In addition to sales and distribution, other departments of the company such as accounting or materials management access the master data. The material master data is stored in a specific structure in order to allow access from these different views.
Document master data : The processing of business transactions in sales and distribution is based on the master data. In the SAP R/3 System, business transaction are stored in the form of documents. These sales and distribution documents are structured according to certain criteria so that all necessary information in the document is stored in a systematic way.
Customer Master Data : or for that matter various business partners, we maintain data for them also called as the customer master data or vendor master data like that.

The technical system describes the physical view and the business system the logical view, respectively.
So in most cases you must define both but while a technical system can only link to one WEB AS, more than one business systems can link to the same technical system.
Tech System - Holds the tech details like installation no, db instance.
Technical Systems are of following types:
Technical systems are application systems that are installed in your system landscape. An example of an application system is a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) server. In the SLD, there are five types of technical systems:
1.)WEBas java,
2.)Standalone JAVA
3.)Third party
4.)Web as ABAP
1) Web AS Java
Web AS Java systems consist of one or more instances and each instance is installed on a separate host. An instance itself consists of cluster nodes that can communicate with each other.
2.)Standalone Java
Standalone Java technical systems are standalone Java applications that are installed in a computer system from an administration perspective. They can also be installed as an operating system service or as a daemon
Web AS java belongs to the NetWeaver Comes with both ABAP and Java, Standalone instread comes separate from the netWeaver.
3) Third party technical sytem
It can be any of the technical sytem. let us say if you want to send a file to R/3, here the file reside in your local system. for that you can define your local system as a third party technical system.
All those machines that comes under non sap, belongs to the third party.
4.) Web AS ABAP technical systems, ranging from any SAP system to an APO server or CRM server, are based on the same Basis Component (BC), which includes the ABAP interpreter, ABAP Dictionary, ABAP Workbench, and so on. A dedicated database, which stores most of the data of the BC and the application components, is associated with the system.

What is your file size and how many records are there in your file ? which idoc your using ?
The file size that your server can process depends on various different aspects like the server hardware sizing, total available memory form both Java and ABAP side, the kind of interfacing you are trying to achieve, if your interface needs a complex mapping etc. Although there is no correct picture on theoritical Max file size, it will depend on the specifics of your landscape.
I personally feel that, processing a 2 GB file is not a good idea as the message when converted to XML its size multiplies atleast 3.5 times to 7 times, which gets persisted at various stages of logging that the system does. You may want to consider other options like splitting the messages into smaller chunks, having no or minimal mapping and configuring the recordset per message property.
Personally in one of the implementations we have had to process a Max file size of 350MB which gets processed once a month and that too during non-peak working hours.

example: if it is purchase order then the idoc would be orders.orders05
if it is invoice,idoc would be invoic.invoic02.

I have checked the RG section of the application and also all the documentation delivered as a part of the ESO software download

Can someone please help me in configuring Flexible Real Estate Management in SAP BW.
I have loaded BUSINESS CONTENT and there are no datasources avaialble to me for for cubes 0REFX_C11, 0REFX_C12 and 0REFX_C14, as well as DSO'S 0REFXDS03, 0REFXDS02.
For DSO = 0REFXDS03, my understanding is that this DSO is used for deleted items, so i have the Transformations but im unable to create the DTP on the InfoObjects.

As far as I know SAP BPC doest not have versions management. How you guys out there handle version management for SAP BPC. Do we have VM on SAP BPC 7.0 NW?

What is the verdict on Version Management being there in BPC? Can you (Saquib or others) give an example as to what Version Management functionality you might be looking for?
From the little I know, when you are doing software development through lifecycle (in SAP it would be called Transport strategy) management, you promote different changes in the target system and hence SAP has an implicit version management. I am assuming that BPC 7.0 NW version would have that automatically since it is promoted through transport strategy only. Are you referring to the same thing as version management or is it something else? But I also read somewhere that only appset is promoted through transport and not sure if each and every component is part of that.
Please enlighten with your insighs.

I am still aprehensive about the usage of handling unit mangament. I am reading it and it seems that we generally use a handling unit mangement with WM & without WM as well.
Is there any document from where we can understand about it?
Does the end user/customer know about this handling unit is it mentioned in his invoice or EDI?
Will the customer track shipments based on the handling units or is it only for internal purposes.......
What i really dont understand is that relation between the packing instructions and handling units....
how and what level do they differ from each other......

First understand and decide what each consultant is going to do in the system. Like Technical Consultant will take care of Installation, Setting Up Landscape, Setting up TMS etc.
Project Manager will create projects, Handle roadmaps etc.
Segregating this way will help you defining the Roles in the system. I would also suggest you to have authorization Matrix in a Spreadsheet.
The authorization can also be categorized based on Operational processing.

Self Password management in SAP 4.7

Hi Techies,
Is there any way to enable self password management in SAP 4.7 (ABAP)?
My requirement is user have to Unlock/Reset his own SAP ID and get confirmation to his own mail address mapped in SAP.
This is just to avoid the routine activity of Helpdesk and obviously to reduce the resource utilization.
What I am planning is
Create a tcode with two buttons - for unlock and reset
(This tcode calls FMs in background to unlock and reset the password of user ID)
Create a user, assign above tcode to role and attach to him.
Give common password without password restrictions (minimum digits, charac etc)
Publish the process on SAP screen to brief the process.
Here what will happen is If user ID got locked, user opens other session with the user id and password provided on SAP front screen, enters SAP ID, checks the radio button and executes...then user recieves and email on his mail id about the change.
Challenge I expect here is
I have password related parameters configured in my SAP system - I want to exclude this user for password restrictions
I have multi workstation login disabled in my landscape - I want to exclude this user from this (Because users cannot access from multi workstations which causes to delay in unlocking/resetting)
Request you to rview and reply with your valuable ideas.
*I have raised this query some time earlier but haven't received ideas/inputs

Hi.....Thanks for your inputs and queries.
You can add this parameter and the specific user name to allow multiple login.
login login/disable_multi_gui_login = UserA
Correct parameter is login/multi_login_users=Username
apart from these two i think you should also think how you will monitor this user if someone enter the password wrong multiple time, as well as how you will control to reseting the password of other user's also.
This is simple - It unlocks only the IDs which got locked by unsuccesfull attempts (I will maintain in script)
It sends the new password only to the owner of SAP ID (No other user will receive)
If anybody misuses, we can have the system/Audit logs to check the work station and user details
