What is the optimum charge voltage for IPOD Touch latest version?

Genuine Apple Chargers have either 5V, 10V or in some cases 12V for IPODs/IPADS; what is the optimum charge voltages for IPODs and IPADs?

All the newer iPods, all iPod touches, all iPhones and all iPads use the USB voltage which is 5V DC. Some chargers say 5.1 V.
Old iPods use FireWire charging which is 12 V DC

  • What is the next software update for ipod touch 4

will ipod touch 4th generation ever get iOS 7
What is the next software update for ipod touch 4

    No.
All the iOS devices compatible (iPhone 4 and later, iPad 2 and later, and 5G iPod touch) with iOS 7 have at least 512 MB of memory. The 4G only has 256 MB
I would not expect any more updates for the 4G

I have a couple of the Belkin laser etched case. Ebay item 350324653882, Amazon item F8Z404-PRL. They feel great in your hand, very soft. I also love my case-mate Barely There cases. They are hard however.

  • What is the best charging cable for the iPad Air (that is not made by Apple)? I need a long cable (over 6ft or more). I also need the cable to be of high quality and the cord part of the cable to be made of strong material.

What is the best charging cable for the iPad Air (that is not made by Apple)? I need a long cable (over 6ft or more). I also need the cable to be of high quality and the cord part of the cable to be made of strong material. Apple does not make one this long. Is there a cable out there that is sturdy like this and is safe to use?

yes, but I'm trying to use my iPad to type notes (using pages) and I have the smart case which I use as a stand. I need a cable long enough to fit through the back of my desk and the charging brick for the iPad won't fit behind the desk. I have to put it on the floor and then the apple cables aren't long enough to reach.

Yes. I use mine all the time.

  • What's the mA Charging Requirement for 2nd Generation? What is the maximum?

It appears that the minimum charging requirement for the 2nd generation is 500ma and the optimum is 1000ma (1A). Can anyone confirm that for me? I can't find any specifications anywhere.
Also, will using a high power USB charger cause any harm to the Touch's charging circuit? I can pick up a USB charger (which is part of an international power adapter kit) that has a rating of 2.5A.
It would be a great way to charge the Touch assuming that it doesn't cause any damage, and the only reason I'm considering it is that it's 70% off at the Circuit City clearance. (R.I.P. CC)
    Thanks.

The spec for USB 2.0 high power is a minimum of 500mA.
Also, will using a high power USB charger cause any harm to the Touch's charging circuit?
    No.
Electronic devices will only take what current they need.
As an example, the outlets in your house are 15 Amps but none of your electronics draw anywhere near that amount.

You can buy either the original, or one with a higher wattage.

  • How do I get the right operating system for iPod Touch 1st generation?

I have an iPod Touch 1st generation and am experiencing problems with most of the apps that I´ve downloaded. The error message is "Application not compatible - this application requires the iPhone 4.0 Software update". Can I upgrad the software on my iPod?

You 1G iPod can only go as far as iOS 3.1.3,  Sorry.  If you want 3.1.3 go here:
Purchasing iOS 3.1 Software Update for iPod touch (1st generation)

  • Charging Voltage For iPOD

Various output voltages are provided by different manufacturers of chargers. The Apple USB power adapter provides 12 volts but my Belkin 110volt adapter provides only 5 volts. Does anyone know what the iPOD input charging voltage tolerances are? What voltage is provided by an iMAC or Powerbook through the USB cable?

iPod requires only 5 volts to charge.
Do not try using the higher voltages as this may damage (probably will damage) your iPod.

  • What is the faulty returns policy for iPods?

My iPod touch has started acting up recently (home button is sticking and it wont recognise speakers plugged into the dock). I took it into the Apple store and they agreed it was faulty and offerred me a replacement. I should be picking the replacement up in a couple of days as they had to order it in. While I was in the store I saw the new 4th generation iPods (mine is a 3rd gen) and I asked if I could get one of those as a replacement and pay the difference for it but I was told Apple only exchange faulty products like-for-like. So I was wondering, rather than getting a replacement 3rd gen, am I able to ask Apple for my money back for my faulty iPod (its still under warranty) and then use the money to buy a 4th gen, or am I only able to get the replacement?

The refund period is 14 days. Essentially, you have a 14 days to decide if you like it.
A good idea, if you really want to get the iPod Touch 4G, take the "like-new" replacement, and sell it to a buddy. That's how I got from 1st gen to 2nd gen.
