What is used to produce this layered, motion-tracking effect?

The video is here (http://vimeo.com/4343746?pg=embed&sec=4343746).
Is this done in FCP, Motion, After Effects? None of the above?
Thanks for any insights.

Could be done in Motion 3 with help from Photoshop...
Basically you take a still in photoshop, pen out the subject and place into new layer, use clone tool to fill in the cut out areas of background so there's no empty areas seen later in 3D animation.
Then take psd image into Motion 3 as separate layers, add 3D camera and move subject closer to camera than background to create depth. After that's all setup simply animate the path of the 3D camera.
Same principle done in After Effects take a look at this video tutorial

  • What programs used to create this site??

Hey there, I stumbled across this flash site and was
wondering if any of you had any ideas which programs would have
been used to create this site. Obviously flash for one, but would
they be importing rendered clips from say 3ds max? or perhaps swift
3d? I am wondering with things like the mail box, water etc. Or is
flash capable to achieve all of this.. Very impressive site none
    the less..

Hey great link. Man they are good. They have definitely used
some 3D programme like 3D Max or blender or even Maya maybe. I
don't think that Swift 3D has been used. The graphics are way too
complex. Also I think it is a combination of 3D software, vector
    and image editing software.

  • Motion tracking effect mask not working

I've no trouble with normal motion tracking, adding clip art to it and having the clip art track, etc. But according to the help in PE8, effects masks are also supposed to be able to be used. According to help:
You can also apply Effects Mask in the Motion Tracking mode.
    1. Select a clip in the Timeline or Sceneline.
    2. Select the clip, and click  to enable the Motion Tracking mode.
    3. Select any one of the tracked objects (shown by a yellow frame).
    4. Select Edit > Effects.
    5. Drag the effect you want to apply onto the tracked object on the Monitor panel.
The Effects Mask is applied automatically and the mask moves with the moving object. If you apply multiple effects to the clip, all the effects use the same mask.
I've done that and I get a mask but it does not move with the tracked object. Any hints?

  • Adding motion tracked effects to a complete movie/sequence, on multiple subjects throughout the timeline

    Hi all,
I am completely new to After Effects and have just completed my first 15 minute movie in Premier Pro (CS5). This movie is very important to me and encroaching a deadline. I wouldn't reach out with such a beginner question otherwise, so any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
    Problem -
I have an exported 15 minute .mov file created in Premier Pro.
I want to apply a liquify effect to a moving target - eg. a person for only parts of the movie.
I can successfully motion track and apply the effect, however when the scene changes within the clip and the person leaves the frame, the motion track continues and the effect is applied throughout the remainder of the footage on everything else that comes into view.
I want the motion track to stop once the body is out of the frame, and then to begin a new motion track later when the body reappears, or when I want to apply an effect to a different object along the timeline.
    Have Tried -
Importing my Premier Pro project into After Effects.
Result - The motion track stays on screen from clip to clip, throughout entire sequence
Copy and pasting a short clip in order to add an effect only to the single target.
Result - The motion tracking is greyed out, and if I double click on the clip, it takes me to the entire piece of footage it's cut from, which bring me back to my original problem
Please let me know (from the very basic starting point) how you would do this? Is there any way to stop and start the motion track linearly along the timeline in different positions, and apply different effects?
    Thank you in advance.
    Ally

Todd's right; without a basic understanding, it's going to be hard to help you.
    However, I can try.
Instead of bringing your whole video into AE. Just copy the clip in Premiere that needs the effect and paste it into a composition in AE. Trim your composition so it's just that clip. Follow whatever tutorial you followed to get your effect done (I'm assuming the Demon Face Warp from VCP) and render your video out of AE. Then simply plop that clip over the original clip in your Premiere timeline.
But seriously, you will save yourself much hassle if you go through all the resources Todd linked to. AE is a pretty powerful and complicated program. It's not something you can learn in a day, so charging forward into it will only cause frustration.

    Thanks for the reply.
I checked the link that I posted back in post 3 of your thread. It is working with at least Firefox and Chrome.
ATR Premiere Elements Troubleshooting: PE12: Motion Tracking/What To Use To Track Object?
    What browser are you using?
The blog post contains significant information related to Premiere Elements 12 Motion Tracking. But, if you cannot access it for some reason, then we will need to troubleshoot via communications in the thread.
SG has asked if you are able to create Motion Tracking effect using one of the graphics included with the program. We will watch for your response to him on that question. Please include in your message to him whether you can obtain your file to track the object using Organizer Tab or Project Assets routes as well as Graphics Tab.
The following is an excerpt from the blog post referenced....
    SOLUTION
Various tutorials and online comments have pointed to places other than Graphics Tab where objects can be selected and used to track the moving object in the video when the Motion Tracking workspace is opened in the Expert or Quick workspace.
Organizer Tab, Expert or Quick workspace to access Elements Organizer 12. Cascade Windows and drag a video or photo from Elements Organizer into the yellow track box of Motion Tracking workspace.
Project Assets, Expert workspace. Drag text, video, or photos from opened Project Assets into the yellow track box of Motion Tracking workspace.
Graphics Tab, Expert or Quick workspace. Create a png file (graphic) or prtl file (text) and place it in Clip Arts in the Program Files of the program to have a permanent resource. Then from Graphics Tab, drag the newly created graphic or text object into yellow track box of Motion Tracking workspace.
    Thanks.

  • Motion Tracking a Dolly Shot

I'm having a little trouble figuring this out. Thought someone on here might have done something similar.
The shot: A person walks down a sidewalk. The camera dollies parallel to them so it sees a wide of their profile. The person disappears and reappears in the shot as the camera dollies.
Is there a good way to pull off a poor man's motion tracking effect like this? Certain plug-ins to use to get it right?
A somewhat similar effect occurs a few (brief) times in this video: http://vimeo.com/24569304
Happy to clarify if that doesn't make sense. Thanks in advance!

Here's what I'd do. I'd shoot a clean take of the actor with a dolly shot with the dolly on track if possible and the camera locked off. Have an assistant keep track of the time.
Once you have a clean take, roll back and take another shot.
If you don't have a dolly and track then do the best you can to keep the shot as close as you can to the "good" take.
Now you need to track both shots in Mocha. There a re tutorials on how to track a moving shot available. You would stabilize both shots, lay the clean plate over the plate with the actor and crop it with a soft edge mask big enough to cover the actor. Did you get that? You want to lay the clean plate over just the area where the actor is. Make any adjustments necessary to the timing of the shot to keep things lined up by using time remap on the clean plate.
once you have the composited shots looking like there's no actor in the shot , then you can use transitions, fades, or other effects to bring in your actor by eliminating the top clean portion.
Once this is all set up, remove the stabilization on the actor plate making sure that the clean plate is tied to it by parenting.
Don't expect to be able to hold this hide the actor effect for more than a few seconds without dolly track. If you carefully watch the reference  video you'll see that there's not a lot of exact frame matching going on. There just kitschy transitions between takes. The first one is especially awkward and there's a big jump that's hidden fairly well by the transition. In fact, I can't see anything except the distortions of the sidewalk and the overlays that probably used motion tracking.

  • Motion Tracking always 'wonders off'

I don't use after affects much as i do mostly website stuff. Sorry if this question may be simple/dumb, but i cant for the life of me figure it out ...
I have a video that I do tracking on.... simple x/y tracking... My workflow is: I usually like to do it manually frame by frame and use the assistance of the motion tracker to help me move something.  i correct and move the tracker 'squares' sometimes as needed if the tracker is off, and then apply it to an image to move it. The funky thing is the whole motion tracking animation wonders off sometimes... I have this problem often and am not sure if i am setting the motion tracking correctly (like the 2 'boxes' that setup the inital tracking or the options). I think it is probably cause the center point of the tracking wonders off as i look back on it. But i thought it would/should always be centered in the middle of the inside box just as a reference. Didnt know it actually can move itself throughout the tracking ... I just want it to basically do simple tracking of the box to help me out without that point moving all over the place, and me having to maybe correct it for each frame....
Here is an attached file if you want to take a look at what Im possibly doing wrong.
Layer 63 is the layer i decided to track (blah sorry theres so much stuff) and i want to apply it to Layer 62, as you can see the animation wonders off. Not sure how to control the tracking.

There are some suggestions for correcting a drifting track that "wanders off" here: "Correct a motion track".
But first you really want to be sure that you've selected a good feature region (the area enclosed by the inner box). There are some suggestions for doing that here: "Motion tracking workflow".
There are some tutorials that walk you through the best practices for motion tracking here: "Motion tracking overview and resources".

  • Motion tracking is not working for videos but works for images?

Motion tracking is not working for videos but works for images. When the videos is drop onto the tracking object the videos corner don't appear highlighted. I am working on windows 7 with version 13.1.

Are you within 30 days of purchase for the Premiere Elements 13? And, did you purchase as a download from Adobe? If so, you can
apply for a return/refund for 13. If you purchased elsewhere, then you would be governed by the return/refund policy of the seller.
Adobe no longer sells version 12, so you would have to find a vendor who still has it in stock and purchase it. There is no way to "downgrade"
    13 to 12.
What you may want to do is to download and install the Premiere Elements 12 tryout from the following web site to verify that 12 Motion
Tracking works for you; whereas 13 cannot with regard to use of video for the Motion Tracking source media.
Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 Direct Download Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 Direct Download Links, Premiere too | ProDesignTools
Apparently this web site does not sell the tryout. It just makes it available for use.
Before I posted my reply to you I looked at Motion Tracking with video source media on both Premiere Elements 12/12.1 and 13/13.1 on the same Windows 7 64 bit computer.
If any questions or need clarification, please do not hesitate to ask.
    Thank you.

  • Why don't I see a dialogue box when I click on Motion Tracking?

My project's working fine, and I'd like to add a Motion Tracking effect. When I click on the MT icon, nothing happens. I've tried Auto Analyzing the clip first; no difference.
    PreEl 10, Win 8.1, i7 16GB.
    Thanks for any help!

    Dave
I have not finalized all the details. I am double checking and triple checking between Premiere Elements 10 and 12 on Windows 7 64 bit and Premiere Elements 10 and 12 on Windows 8.1 64 bit.
The first rounds revealed the following
    a. Your video is 1920 x 1080 @ 29.97 interlaced frames per second with Scan Order = Top Field First. The video compression is probably AVCHD, and the file extension is definitely .mts. Based on that information, I am setting all projects to the project preset
    NTSC
    AVCHD
    Full HD1080i30
    b. When I import your video into Premiere Elements 12 Windows, the Motion Tracking icon above the Timeline immediately "lights up". (There is no colored line over the Timeline content.) With the clip definitely selected, if I now click on the Motion Tracking icon, I get the Motion Tracking dialog to which I click "No". In the Motion Tracking Mode, I click on Add Object to get a bounding box that I position for the Object (dog) in the video. Then I click on Track Object. After the program does that, I get a orange/yellow frame around the select object in the video. When I drag a clip art from Clip Arts into the screen and near the orange/yellow frame, the orange/yellow frame turns blue.
    c. When I hit the Enter key to place the keyframes and get the best possible preview, 99.9999% of the time, the clip art tracks the dog in Windows 7 64 bit. But, when I go through the whole business in Windows 8.1 64 bit, everything is the same as in Windows 7 64 bit counterpart, BUT the Clip Art is not tracking the dog.
That is what is taking the time to define.
Three focus points, I am not sure in or out factors
    1. First time around in Premiere Elements 10 Windows 8.1 64 bit Motion Tracking,  there were two notifications of Activation processes being done related to Motion Tracking. So, I would ask "Are you working with Internet connection On?"
    2. Are you setting the project preset to match the properties of the source file that you are using in the Motion Tracking feature?
    3. Motion Tracking feature is in 10 and 12, but never in 11. Supposedly, 12 Motion Tracking is an improvement over 10. So far I have not seen evidence of that here.
Nonetheless, you seem to be stopped by the Track Object after Add Object and placing the clip art, and have not gotten to these end results yet that I am describing where the clip art tracks or does not track the object. Is that correct?
There is not a great amount of motion in the clip and the color contrasts are not pronounced. I have tried different clip art files with different colors. So far, same result.
    More later.

  • Probably Stupid question, but - how to remove motion tracking from a clip?

I've been playing around with the motion tracking feature, and think I may have come up with a way to make it work to highlight my now infamous "football"
However, I need to delete the motion tracking effect (s) that I've added to the clip so that I can start fresh.  I cannot for the life of me figure out how to delete it!
This may be a very elemental question - and I apologize, but I cannot find the answer.  I just cannot delete the original yellow tracking boxes -
Thanks in advance for your help!
    Kim

To remove the Motion Tracking, just delete the graphic you attached to it. There's no need to remove the Tracking Object itself.
Although you can if you'd like. Just click to select the clip and then click on the Motion Tracking tool. Then right-click on the blue or yellow squares and select Delete.

  • I am trying to use motion tracking to have text follow a section of the background. The text box follows the motion path, but the text just sits there.  What am I doing wrong?

I am trying to use motion tracking to have text follow a section of the background. The text box follows the motion path, but the text just sits there.  What am I doing wrong?

Motion basically looks at the the source footage and it's timing (in the timing section of the Inspector) when analyzing for tracking.  Filters are basically ignored by the tracker.  Retiming actions, like time re-mapping, or retiming behaviors that are applied before the tracker should be used by the tracker.  Did you change the timing after doing the tracking?  If so this would also require you to re-track the shot.  Understanding that you found a workaround, describing the effects you applied would help to explain why you ran into problems.
    Cheers!

  • What technique is used to achieve this type of graphic?

This looks to be some type of mesh and warping, but the lighting might indicate a specialized landscape program. Anyone know how this art was produced?
    TIA,
    Ken

You can almost do this with the 3D Effect>Bevel and Extrude and mapping a symbol of the dots them making a clipping msk
Oh wait I then used an Envelope Distort make with mesh and then you can manipulate the clipped mapped effect.
You might even do this with a blend
this is blending with gradients and clipping mask
This is a long way from what you want but you can see it might be had as you think it might in Illustrator.

  • I can no longer download and save files. They are now saved with a ".part" suffix that I can not use or open. What happened, I used to do this all the time?

Downloads seem to be happening normally at first but the file shows up with a file extension of ".part" that I can not use or open. If I refresh the folder where it was downloaded to, it disappears as though it wasn't there at all.
I used to do this and it just yesterday started to give me problems. It doesn't seem to matter what file type I do this with as PDF, MP3 and EXE files have all shown this problem.
    Please help!

It is possible that your anti-virus software is corrupting the downloaded files or otherwise interfering with downloading files by Firefox.<br />
Try to disable the real-time (live) scanning of files in your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes downloading work.
