SAP Split Valuation for Materials
The SAP R/3 System allows you to valuate stocks of a material either together or separately, that is, according to different valuation criteria. Split valuation is necessary if, for example:
1. Stock from in-house production has a different valuation price than externally procured stock.
2. Stock obtained from one manufacturer is valuated at a different price than stock obtained from another manufacturer.
3. Different batch stocks of a material have different valuation prices.
4. Value damaged and repair part differently from a new part.
To used split valuation, you have to activate it using 'OMW0'.
To change split material valuation once it has been set, you must
1.  first post out all stocks (for example, to a cost center or with movement type 562)
2.  then change the control parameters
3.  if necessary, change the automatic account determination
4.  finally post the stocks back in again
In split valuation, you can distinguish between partial stocks of a material according to certain criteria and valuate them separately.
The material stock is divided according to valuation category and valuation type.
The valuation category determines how the partial stocks are divided, that is, according to which criteria.
The valuation type describes the characteristics of the individual stocks.
With the function "Setting" you can determine:
which valuation categories exist in your company (global categories)
which valuation types exist in your company (global types)
which valuation types belong to which valuation category
which valuation categories exist in a valuation area (local categories)
Your entries are only relevant if you set split valuation as active in the function "Global settings".
In the standard SAP R/3 System, the following valuation categories are default settings :
B procurement type
with the valuation types:
"EIGEN" for in-house production
"FREMD" for external procurement
H Origin
X automatic valuation (only for batch)
To select split valuation ('OMWC'), proceed as follows:
1.  Determine the valuation categories and valuation types that are allowed for all valuation areas:
global valuation categories via menu "Goto --> Global Categories"
global valuation types via menu "Goto --> Global Types"
2.  Allocate the valuation types to the valuation categories.
     a) Select "Goto --> Global Categories".
     b) Position the cursor on a valuation category and select
        "Goto --> Global Categories --> Assignments --> 'Types->Category'".
     c) Activate the valuation types you want.
3.  Determine the local valuation categories for each valuation area.
     a) Select "Goto --> Local definitions".
     b) Position the cursor on a valuation area and select
         "Goto --> Local Definitions --> Allocate Categoires->Org.units (button Cats->(OU)".
You obtain a list of the global valuation categories.
     c) Activate the categories to be used in this valuation area.
The system creates the local valuation types based on the allocations under point 2.
Only now can you create a master record with split valuation.
Specifying Split Valuation by creating Material Subject to Split Valuation
1.  Create a material master record, selecting the Accounting View 1.
2.  Enter your data as required on the Accounting data screen, specifying a valuation category.
(If you can't find the valuation category field, it might be hidden, use OMSR to define the Field Groups.
Look for the field MBEW-BWTTY for Valuation category).
3.   Be sure that the price control indicator is V for moving average price and enter a moving average price.
4.   In the case of split valuation, you can create only one valuation header record with price control V because the
individual stock values are cumulated, and this total value is written to the valuation header record.  This is where the
individual stocks of a material are managed cumulatively. To do this, fill in the Valuation category field on the accounting
screen when you create the material master record and leave the Valuation type field blank.
5.   Save your data and the system creates the valuation header record.
6.   The initial screen appears.
7.   Extend the material by creating new material master records from the Accounting view 1. For the first material, specify a
valuation type in the Organizational Levels dialog box and enter the respective accounting data on the data screen.
Proceed likewise for the other materials, distinguishing between them by valuation type.  To do this, call up the material in
creation mode again. Due to the fact that a valuation header record exists, the system requires you to enter a valuation
      type for the valuation category.
8.   Repeat step seven for every valuation type planned.
You want to valuate the stock of material XYZ that you obtain from manufacturer A in Los Angeles at a different price than the stock you obtain from manufacturer B in Detroit. In this case, the valuation category is H for origin. Your valuation types can be LOS ANGELES and DETROIT.
If a material is subject to split valuation, every quantity (sub-stock) of this material must be assigned to a valuation type (for example, country of origin).
For every valuation type, there are two types of data in the system, as follows:
Valuation data (for example, valuation price, total stock quantity, total stock value), which is defined for every valuation type at valuation-area level and applies to all dependent storage locations.
Stock data, which, like batch data, is managed separately for each storage location. If a material that is subject to split valuation is also subject to management in batches, its stock data is not managed by valuation type, but rather by batch. Every batch is assigned to a valuation type.
The stock quantity, stock value, and valuation price for all valuation types are managed cumulatively at valuation-area level.
Must the Valuation Type Exist Before the First Goods Receipt?
You can post the goods receipt of material of a certain valuation type only if the valuation data for this valuation type already exists, because the system valuates the goods receipt at the price defined in the valuation data. On the other hand, the stock data for the valuation type is created automatically during the first goods receipt into the storage location, if this is defined in Customizing for Inventory Management.
Goods Movements with Materials Subject to Split Valuation
If you want to enter goods movements for materials subject to split valuation, you must enter the valuation type in addition to the material number.
Enter the valuation type in the Batch field for MB01.
In MIGO, there is a valuation type field in Detail data -> Material.

  • Report to show open orders and valuation type

    Hi,
Is there a report in SAP that shows the open orders and the valuation type of the materials in those orders?
    thanks

    Hi jay,
What is the definition of Open orders according to your company?
Is it Sales orders created but not delivered?  or
Is it Delivery created for the Sales order but not done PGI?  or
Is it Sales orders but not billed?
Accordingly you must decide.  Just VA05 will give list of orders where you can take from the Status updation whether it is delivered or not.  But apart from that, if you need any report relating to Open orders, you need to develop a Z report which will help your company.  Just ask your business user how he wants.  Based on that you can decide.
    Thanks and regards.

  • Material master table for finding out valuation category and valuation type

    Hi,
I have a material XYZ for which a valuation category 'H' is assigned. Now I need to create a valuation type for that.
Question - I want to find out for the same plant & st location which are the other materials with valuation category H, and what are the valuation types used.
I checked in mara, mard, mbew etc but of no use.
Which table can i get the data ?

    hi,
As the valuation details are saved and are based on the material, you can see the details of valuation type in MBEW table...and field as BWTAR
For valuation catagory, you can see the table MARC...field as BWTTY...
If want the valuation type details for both plant and storage location, you shd check the GR table ie. MSEG where you will get the valuation type ....
hope its enough to retrieve the data..

  • Valuation type with batch management.

    Dear all:
We have created our self valuation category D, without automatic valuation type.
From what we have checked, it is mandatory to enter a valuation type during batch creation with MSC1N. This link between batch master and valuation type is impossible to change.
Our plan was to employ 2 valuation types, independently of the batch used, so that with a STO we could be able to post and outbound movement from valuation type A and a subsequent inbound goods receipt of valuation type B.
That's a problem for us as we use batch numbers to refer to certain material features, and those shouldn't change given the valuation type, so that it is mandatory for us to use the same batch number for both valuation types. Given that the link between batch master and valuation type is unbreakable, this looks not possible.
We already tried to de-activate the valuation type as a required field during the batch creation, but it didn't work as the field still needed an entry during the saving. There are also several error messages that would need to be de-activated (M7043, 06649...)
If we cannot use two valuation types with the same batch, is there any solution we can manage, besides of the duplication of batch numbers?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

Hi, Jürgen, thanks for your comments.
We have as well the batch management at plant level, but our idea was to use split valuation in order to avoid the use of plant as the minimum valuation level, as this would have further issues regarding the logistic side (we can use the stock determination group to solve this when using split valuation).
So we face the problem that with a given batch number we cannot post movements with two different valuation types.
I'll take a look at the note anyway, thanks for your help.

    Hi,
As per your post, I understood,
Zreport has been developed which displays the details of Outgoing Delivery / Invoices & The price differences was trigger  point to create Debit memo request in the background.
In Dedit memo material used is BOM Main item & in addition you want to include the sub item details ( along with Valuation type) in debit memo req-
What could be the reason to include the sub items / valuation type- If you want to include- let the sub items explode in debit memo request rather than entering manually.
Is it working @ present OR to be proposed solution to the client ? if its proposed solution,I would rather suggest you to look for alternatives than going ahead.

    Hello
I have an issue during MIGO with 261 mvt type for a material which has two Valuation types VA1 & VA2 for plant 1000.
when i want to use MIGO with all inputs for plant 1000 with Material A & VA1, system by default chooses a different Valuation type VAL5 which is assigned to the material A in Plant 2000. i am not able to select VAL1 or VAL2 for plant 1000 material A.
automatically VAL5 reappears & can not post the doc.......what might be the issue? where to check this?

    check your customizing in OMWC
    click local definiitions
put the cursor onto your plant number
    click local categories
you probably see there your  VAL5  in column DVT Promo  with a X next to it in column PrM
change the default and remove the X

  • How to check valuation type and batch during creating PO

    Hi All,
can every body help me please,
I have a material which manage by batch and valuation type.
When user create purchase order using that kind of material I want the system checking field batch and valuation type. If they not match then system will give an error message.
What should I do to make the system checking that fields?
    Thxs
    - ely -

    Hi Ely
Fortunately, you do not need to do any coding or need to use exits.
You can configure the screen layout settings as follows:
    1) SPRO->MM->Purchasing->Purchase Order-> Define screen layout at doc level
    2) Double click on the key-NBF (most probably you are using this for your PO document type. If you are using any other field layout key..make changes there)
    3) Double click on GR/IR control .
    4) Make Valuation Type & Batch fields 'Required'.
System works intelligently here. If the material is batch managed, system expects you to enter a batch in PO. If the material has split valuation, then system also expects you to enter valuation type. FOr other materials, system does not expect you to enter batch or valuation type.

  • Valuation Type - Query on GR and GI

Hi, I am SAP FICO Consultant.
I know meaning of split valuation and purpose of split valuation. Ex: Same FG needs to be valued differently (ex: locally purchased or imports, produced or procures, etc).
But i want to know what we should do at the time Goods Receipt and Goods Issue.
Do we specify Valuation type also at the time of Goods reciept (when we procure from external party or produce in house)
Do we specify valuation type at the time of goods issue (i.e. at the time of issue to production or Post goods issue for sale).
Please let me know how we can tell system from which valuation type we issue and receive goods.
Hope you got the question. Please help.

    Yes,you are correct
If your material is split valuated and you have activate it for your plant
Then you have to specify valuation type in Po or IN GRN and same thing with goods issue
read following link you will get clear idea

  • Valuation Type Issue with STOs

    Hello Folks !!
In the client environment Materials are going to be Batch Managed as well as Split Valuated (by Country of Origin "H" Category).
When we create STOs, Valuation Type of the receiving plant is mandatory and it has to be specified up in the STO Order itself. [ According to SAP OSS Note: 66593]
The problem here is the Planner who is creating the STO is not going to know the Valuation Type of the Receiving Plant at the time of creating the STO.
The valuation type of the product will be known only at the time of Shipping. That is, upon delivery creation the Batches will be determined and the Shipping Valuation Type will be known.
Also Note that : If we pick any default valuation type at the time of the STO creation, that is going to create problems at the time of receiving at the receiving plant, because if a different valuation type is shipped than the one mentioned in the STO Order, the system is going to say, that the Batch Valuation Type and the Valuation Type Specified in teh STO are different.
What do you Experts Suggest !! How could this be resolved ??
    Cheers

    dear experts
we had faced similar issue and done enhancement to substitute Val Type of PDI to PO before GR.
But this has resulted in inconsistency in ML & MCHA.
The Financial & ML entry is posted at the time of PGI (641 mov type) and subsequent change on GR is not correct.
Now we have reverted the enhancement and finding alternative solution.
Some body suggested Automatic PO based on PGI.
    regards
