What PDA/Blackberry Should I purchase to be compatible with My iMac G5?

Hi,
I need to buy a new cell phone b/c we are moving, and I think I'd like to try a Blackberry. Can I make it compatible with my iMac, or is there a PDA that you recommend that is better? Unfortunately I have to use Cingular, so I'm limited in my choices, I think.
Thanks!
Jennifer

I purchased a Blackberry and I love it.

You've been infected by a scam trojan.  You don't need any anti-virus software on your Mac.  See the following about getting rid of the trojan.
    Trojan War
If you discover a trojan program is running on your computer then look to the following information for assistance:
    1. A recent discussion on the Apple Support Communities: MacDefender Trojan.

Removing strange software can be a task.  The following outlines various ways of uninstalling software:
    Uninstalling Software: The Basics
Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash.  Applications may create preference files that are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder.  Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space.  If you want you can look for them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application.  In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder.  You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder.  You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder.  Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
Some applications may install a Startup item or a Log In item.  Startup items are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder.  Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences.  Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab.  Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the Delete [-] button to delete it from the list.
Some software use startup daemons or agents that are a new feature of the OS.  Look for them in /Library/LaunchAgents/ and /Library/LaunchDaemons/ or in /Home/Library/LaunchAgents/.
If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term.  Unfortunately Spotlight will not look in certain folders by default.  You can modify Spotlight's behavior or use a third-party search utility, Easy Find, instead.  Download Easy Find at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.
Some applications install a receipt in the /Library/Receipts/ folder.  Usually with the same name as the program or the developer.  The item generally has a ".pkg" extension.  Be sure you also delete this item as some programs use it to determine if it's already installed.
There are many utilities that can uninstall applications.  Note that you must have this software installed before you install software you may need to uninstall.  Uninstallers won't work if you install them after the fact.  Here is a selection:
    AppZapper
    Automaton
    Hazel
    CleanApp
    Yank
    SuperPop
    Uninstaller
    Spring Cleaning
Look for them and others at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.
For more information visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQs on removing software and dealing with spyware and malware.
After removing all the components of the software you may have to restart the computer to fully disable the software.  This will be the case when removing software that has installed a daemon.  After the daemon has been removed you need to restart the computer to stop the daemon.  Alternatively, you can kill the daemon process using the Terminal application or Activity Monitor.

  • I have two iMac's one running 10.6.8 and the other 10.8.2  What Apeture program should I purchase?

I have two iMac's one running 10.6.8 and the other 10.8.2  What Apeture program should I purchase?

You can currently only buy the current version Aperture 3.4.3 at the AppStore, and that version requires MacOS X 10.7.5. at least, see the release notes: Aperture 3.4.3
So you will not be able to install this version on your Snow leopard machine. Maybe you can buy a boxed retail version of an earlier release, compatible with Snow Leopard, but the newer version is faster and compatible with iCloud.
Do your iMacs both have the same processors and memory? You will wan to use your fastest mac with the best graphics card and the most RAM to run Aperture, also a large screen would be desirable.

  • Blackberry 10 the data isn't compatible with the version of the device software that you are currently running

    Hi,
my update to 10.3.1.1565 messed the handwriting input up on my phone.  so I tried to downgrade to 10.2.1, upon doing so all my files were wiped,  however I thought I was being smart by doing a complete backup this morning while running 10.3.1.1565 prior to attempting the os downgrade to 10.2.1 using BlackBerry Link,
Anyway I had to restore my device back to 10.3.1.1565 and now when I attempt to do a restore using the .bbb ( backup ) which I created earlier on today i.e getting the following error message:
blackberry 10 the data isn't compatible with the version of the device software that you are currently running
the software versions on my phone now and the software version when I did my backup are exactly the same 10.3.1.1565.  I'm able to restore my user files and apps ect, as it offers to do a partial restore,., but my contacts, and remember files are now gone.  I NEED THESE.  how do I get these back..
    please help..

  • HT1933 The app purchased is not compatible with current hardware, how can I get a refund?

I purchased an app just about an hour ago and it tells me that the app is not compatible with the hardware I already have and in good working order. I already bought an app for the same hardware for my iPhone, it's just different version for the iPad, so I bought it.

Try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via Store > View My Account (Store > View My Apple ID on iTunes 11) and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find that app, click the arrow to the left of it, click the 'Report a Problem' button :
and then the 'Report a Problem' link on its line :
and select 'inadvertently purchased' as the problem and fill in the details (iTunes support should reply within, I think, about 24 hours).

  • What is max internal hard drive transfer rate compatible with a 2007 MacBook Pro?

In attempt to upgrade my mid-2007 MacBook Pro (Intel Core 2 Duo), I bought a Seagate 750GB listed as compatible with my computer on MacSales.com . . .
Seagate Momentus XT ST750LX003 750GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache 2.5" SATA 6.0Gb/s Solid State Hybrid Drive -Bare Drive
Installation appeared to go well and I ran an extended hardware test with no issues found.  However, the drive is listed at 5.46 TB (would be nice) and I get an input/output error when attempting to partition.  I can initiate an erase, but after the time I would suspect it would take to erase the drive, I get an input/output error - it seems to appear after the first 750 GB of the '5.5 TB' was erased.  At all times, the drive is not recognized when I attempt to install OS X from original discs.
I suspect the 6.0 GB/s transfer capacity of the hard drive is not compatible with the MacBook Pro.  The drive came with 4 jumper pins but no jumper and no label diagram to set a slower transfer rate.  I called Seagate, Newegg, OWC, and Apple, but no one has compatibility info for my MacBook Pro.  To them, it appears I am running the first tests of this new technology with an 'older' MacBook Pro.
My MBP has had no issues - I'd like to keep her going with the optimum internal hard drive capacity, but don't necessarily want to set up a test bench in my house (though my kids would enjoy destroying it) and pay several shipping and restocking fees to test new hard drives.
The original drive had a 1.5 GB/s transfer rate.  Does anyone know the maximum transfer rate compatible with a 2007 MacBook Pro?  3.0 GB/s?  1.5 GB/s?  Thank you.

No spinning hard drive will transfer data faster then 60-80MB a second. The XT models have a flash storage area that is used when reading and writing data that can make it Appear faster in some situations. That flash memory if only 8 or 16GBs in side, I forget which one.
The drie is rated to work on 6GB SATA bus but it certainly can not transfer data that fast. It should be backword compatible to work on slower buses.
Your drive is 750GBs in size. Not wure where you are getting this 5.5TB (that is 5.5 Tera Bytes which is 5500 Giga Bytes. Your drive is under 1TB)
What are you using to partition the drive? Disk Utilities from the original install DVD?
You need to install on your old drive, Update it from the Apple Website then clone it to the new drive. The version of OSX you are using may not function correctly with that large of a drive. Or get yourself a copy of Snow Leopard, retail disk for $29 from Apple, and do all the partitioning and installing with that version od OSX.

  • Where can I purchase garage band compatible with os 10.6.8

My imac has os 10.6.8 and cannot be upgraded. Where can I purchase garage band that is compatible with os 10.6.8?

If in addition to garageband you want the full version of iDVD (if you no longer have iDVD on your Mac), then purchase iLife '09 from a source like Amazon.
In addition to GarageBand, if you do not need iDVD or, at least not the full version of iDVD, then purchase iLife '11 from Amazon.
When you install, you need to do a custom install to only install GarageBand alone, and/or install both GarageBand AND iDVD

You could take a look into an appropriate repair guide to see what is shown for your model build identifier version of iMac (intel) with a 24-inch display; there were at least three models with that size display. Not a single one, was of PowerPC architecture.

  • What Verizon phone should I purchase?

So, it's time to upgrade my cell phone. I've been with Verizon for many years, & they still get the best reception around New England, as far as I know, so, regrettably, I'd like to stick with them.
I went to the Verizon store yesterday & every thing was PC compatible, & the guy said nothing was made for Macs. This didn't make sense to me for some reason, but I'm new to the whole wireless internet thing with my new iBook.
    He recommended the Q phone.
QUESTION: Which phone will communicate with my Apple computers?
Again, as I have posted in other questions, which phones WILL work, not which phones SHOULD work?

I'm using a Nokia 6600 with Salling Clicker installed. See this site:
    <http://www.salling.com/Clicker/mac/devices.php>
Salling Clicker is great; it recognizes my phone when I come within bluetooth range and starts playing my iTunes, pauses iTunes when the phone rings or when I make a call, and resumes when I'm done. It also acts as a remote or mouse to control my G5 from anywhere in my shop. Someone comes in, and I turn the volume down with my phone. When I get in my truck to go home at the end of the day, I leave with the music playing and soon as I get out of range, it pauses. It really is just like a refrigerator light- on when I need it.
In regard to a new phone, when I look for one it will be a Nokia running the Symbian OS, possibly an E61, which has WLAN. I will buy an unlocked phone, and simply insert my SIM card from my current phone and start making calls. I'm using T-Mobile, BTW.
Whatever phone you get, make sure it works with Salling Clicker- you'll be glad you did.

  • I need help with motion control. I am programming in Visual Basic. I will need help with what parts I need to purchase from NI, along with help on the code.

I am using a Papst servo motor and I need to know where to start and what to purchase to get this motor to spin. I am using visual basic and in my program I calculate the direction and RPM's needed from the motor. It will spin anywhere from 1 to 10000 RPM's. It seems rather easy, but I have no idea on how to spin the motor at the specific RPM, and stop it with a command stop in the program. Please help.

We really should know a little more about your intended uses for this system, but assuming you want to do relatively simple (or even not so simple!) motion, you'll need a few components...
A motion controller, such as the PCI-7342, can take your VB commands and turn them into the commands needed to "run" the motor. Next you'll need a drive, such as the MID-7342. This includes the servo amplifier that actually powers the motor. It also has connections to "pass through" the encoder signals from the motor back to the motion controller.
The above-named pieces assume one or two axes of motion. You'll also need a cable to connect the two (can't remember the model right now). You can use MAX to configure the motion controller, and there are just a few VB calls you
'll need to make using NI-Motion functions to define the motion and get it going.
    Hope this helps!

  • What AP's should i replace my old gear with?

I dont have an actual budget amount set but ive tried to show them newer options that were a little more pricey just for one and that was shot down real quick. Looks like Ubiquiti is going to be the way to go.

    Buenos dias Spiceheads!
I'm looking to replace 20ish Cisco 1130 AIR-AP's, my question to you guys is what would you recommend i get? and before you start throwing suggestions i have a few particulars to let you know about. I have a trial Meraki and Aerohive and while i would love to have those, I can guarantee ill never get manglement to put up that kind of money for one, let alone 20. Ive used Engenious EAP's but they don't seem quite enterprise level networking gear. I have not used the Ubiquiti gear but have looked into them but haven't gotten my hands on some. Ruckus would be nice but still price is major factor. Maybe some older autonomous Cisco gear? refurb'd gear? what would you suggest?
and the 20ish AP's i manage individually so something with a software controller would be awesome! Thank you!

  • Should I purchase Pages or stick with Word?

I've been using Word for years and the new one for Mac was fantastic! But, my computer was tragically stolen and my Office with it and Pages is less expensive... But I really want to make sure I'll be able to edit my documents in the same way (or better) as I am currently writing my master's thesis and am obsessed by good format and presentation.
If I buy the Pages app for my MacBook, will I be able to upload in iCloud easily or is it necessary to buy the complete iLife? And will I be able to see the docs on my iPod or will I have to buy the other Pages app for iPod? Is Pages compatible with Word without making the format go all weird?
    Thanks!!!

Pages is one of the applications in the iWork suite, not iLife.
You do not have to buy all three of the iWork apps, just the ones you need. You buy the Mac versions through the Mac App Store & the iOS versions separately through the iTunes Store.
With iCloud support enabled in Pages for iOS you will be able to access the documents you upload to iCloud from your Mac. Apple has not enabled automatic iCloud syncing for the Mac versions so you have to use iCloud.com in a web browser or sync via iTunes.

  • What is the best way to manage multiple devices with one iMac - different users with seperate itunes accounts or one mac user with different itune logons and libraries?

    Hello
I have just purchased an imac which I am very happy with.  In our household we also have two iphones (one mine and one husbands) and one ipod (my sons). We all have individual itunes accounts set up on our previous computer (not a mac). We have sepereate apps and music, although there may be the odd occasion where we would like to share a song (if this is possible) across devices.
I am just wondering the best way to manage these devices using the new imac.  Should I create individual accounts to logon to the imac, then from within these launch our own itunes accounts and sync our devices with these.  Or should I be using one version of itunes, logging on to this with our different itunes usernames and storing things in libraries.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

I am presuming that we cannot share downloaded apps and music between accounts because of the copyright issue,
Though I'm no copyright lawyer, as long as it's within a household, you can share content among users. Such sharing is, absent specific language preventing it not present in the iTunes Store terms of use, generally considered to be "personal use". So you can share apps and music amongst your users on your computer and with their devices. You just can't give any of that content to friends or relatives who don't live with you.
What I am not clear on, it making sure that this appears in each itunes account - is it easy to find the file storage folders that match the itunes accounts and what would these be?
The iTunes library and files are by default in a user's Home/Music folder. But you don't have to find the folder; in fact putting a file into the folder yourself won't add the file to iTunes. Just drag the file into the iTunes window. iTunes will copy it to the correct location.
    Regards.
