What's best architecture for DAQmx app with two operational modes?

I have an architectural question. I am writing an application which takes measurements from a custom sensor which has two modes of operation: 1) idle mode where two voltages are sampled slowly, run through a transform, and then the result is plotted such that the user can see the idle state of the sensor; 2) a testing mode where the user defines a testing time of some number of seconds then hits 'Go' and records high-speed acquisition for the specified number of seconds (with some sort of simultaneous real-time plotting) and then writes the data out to a file. I am trying to use the 'Top Level Application using Events" VI template but have run into issues with the VI not responding to UI clicks when in an event case...I got around **some** of these issues but now I am stuck because I can't get the app to register an abort button click when in testing mode. I think I am missing something when it comes to events as LabVIEW defines them. (I'm a .NET programmer) My basic question is what is the best top-level VI architecture to use for something like this? I don't want to go down the wrong path and have to re-write the whole thing...
**I did come up with a seemingly neat way to get a tab control to switch tabs from inside an event case...I look at the X, Y coordinates of a mouse click and if it is within one of the tab selector zones at the top, left of the control I programmatically swith to the corresponding tab...seems like there should be an easier way but it works.

I think that the best would probably be a producer consumer type architecture with events. You can do a search in the example finder and find a good one. As for the events not responding, you probably just need to uncheck the check box for disabling the front panel until the event finishes. You will find this at the bottom of the dialog box for the event structure.

He can show or hide each block.
Some block can be obsolete in the future.

As your question is about architecture..
The first question is: Do you want to follow a Code-First or Database-First design.
Then you may choose the appropriate forum. From your post, I guess, it's Code-First. So take your wording as an outline. Thus you need a User class and blocks. As blocks can have different types, we need some polymorphism here. Thus it could be an IBlock.
So that your concrete types derive from it:

It contains several branching statements with Line Numbers, e.g.:
1000 IF (condition) goto 2000
I would like to know what is the best architecture to deal with this branching of the program.
Should I break the sections (based on line numbers) into user events or states?
Has anyone done similar conversions?

I would insert a preliminary step where I would assign a descriptive name to each line number that is the target of a branch. The names become the names of the states (like Christian was hinting at) then diagram the code into a state transition diagram. The rest gets passed to a developer to complete.

What's best approach for a person with dual office?

Hi,
I have an UC560 system to deploy. There are 3 users in company who work from home too. For home I have ordered SPA525G2 that has SSL VPN capabilities but when they go in office, they would be using 7945 phone in their dedicated cube. The office phone would not be shared.
What's best way to configure this setup? I know extension mobility works for hoteling setup but this is different. Would it be possible to assign same primary extension to 2 different phones without an overlay configuration?

You always run the risk of small changes between takes - and that's where Audition 3 and the new improved crossfades score rather heavily. You won't notice 1dB on a single instrument across a fade though - it's hard to spot this as a jump, even, unless it's on pure tone. That's the way they used to work, certainly - but not nowadays, especially if it's done on location, which most classical recording is. What's more likely to happen is that you'd use decent mic preamps feeding straight into a multitrack, or even some software on a laptop. quicken should work with lion.
Quicken Essentials will work with Lion. Most people that have used Quicken for a while (i.e. Quicken 2007) have found that Quicken Essentials isn't much better than a basic spreadsheet. It is a significant step down from previous versions and does not offer many of the features previously offered. Right now, it seems like the two most common options are iBank and MoneyDance.
Frankly... this is a major opportunity for these companies. The largest commercial distributor of this type of product has been Intuit (Quicken). That makes it hard for any other company to get any of that market as so many people were already using Quicken and may have had years of data stored in it. Now, with Quicken effectively out of the picture, it's a great chance for another company. Just imagine if iPhones were suddenly off the market. That would give other manufacturers a tremendous opportunity since they wouldn't have to fight an up hill battle against a market giant.

Design Patterns, best approach for this app

i am starting with design patterns, and i would like to hear your opinion on what would be the best approach for this app.
this is basically an app for data monitoring, analysis and logging (voltage, temperature & vibration)
i am using 3 devices for N channels (NI 9211A, NI 9215A, NI PXI 4472) all running at different rates. asynchronous.
and signals are being processed and monitored for logging at a rate specified by the user and in realtime also.
individual devices can be initialized or stopped at any time
basically i'm using 5 loops.
*1.- GUI: Stop App, Reload Plot Names (Event handling)
*2.- Chart & Log: Monitors Data and Start/Stop log data at a specified time in the GUI (State Machine)
*3.- Temperature DAQ monitoring @ 3 S/s (State Machine) NI 9211A
*4.- Voltage DAQ monitoring and scaling @ 1K kS/s (State Machine) NI 9215A
*5.- Vibration DAQ monitoring and Analysis @ 25.6 kS/s (State Machine) NI PXI 4472

You could use the producer/consumer architecture to split the areas where you are doing both the data collection and teh analysis in the same state machine. If one of these processes is not time critical or the data rate is slow enough you could leave it in a single state machine. I admit that I didn't look through your code but based purely on the descriptions above I would imagine that you could change the three collection state machines to use a producer/consumer architecture. I would leave your UI processing in its own loop as well as the logging process. If this logging is time critical you may want to split that as well.

What is best practice for installing Yosemite

I am currently on OS X Mavericks version 10.9.5 Macbook pro 13. 2.6 ghz intel for i5, 8gb 1600 mhz ddr3.
I am now downloading yosemite 10.10.1 but since i've been reading all these negative feedback so far, i am having second thoughts if i should continue to install the upgrade or not.
Any suggestion What is best practice for installing Yosemite? Or is it not yet time to upgrade since the platform is premature yet?

If you have many kernel extensions or startup items look for updates to them too
Take a full bootable backup to another disk via Carbon Copy Cloner, Super Duper! or Disk Utility
Disconnect the backup before you begin any install (ideally set it aside & leave it untouched incase you need to go back to 10.9)
Personally I prefer a clean install when there are signs of multiple migrations (if you have upgraded several OS for a period of years). Setup Assistant/ Migration Assistant can import user data from a backup, but consider that Apps & 'other data' should be manually reinstalled from the latest versions.
If you clean install (erase the HD before installation) then make sure you deauthorise iTunes & any other apps that are associated online (like find my Mac).

Pass a reference to the parent into the modal popup. Then you
can reference anything in the parent scope.
I haven't done this i 2.0 yet so I can't give you code. I'll

Oh, also, you can reference the parent using parentDocument.
So in the popup you could do:

Workshop complains when I try to use a Log4J logger by saying it's not serializable. Is there a context similar to JWSContext that you can get a logger from?
There seems to be a big hole in the documentation on debug logging in workflows and JSP pages.

Make the configuration change in setDomainEnv.cmd. Find where the following variable is set:
LOG4J_CONFIG_FILE
and change it to your desired path.
In your Global.app class, instantiate a static Logger like this:
transient static Logger logger = Logger.getLogger(Global.class);
You should be logging now as long as you have the categories and appenders configured properly in your log4j.xml file.

What is best solution for backup ?

Our environment consisted of RAC (2 nodes). we are trying to back up our database using RMAN with NetBackup.
we also have other different databases need to be backed up.
In RAC case, what is best solution for backing up the database ?
As I mentioned above, we are using RMAN for backup our RAC with NetBackup.
Actually, the RMAN is not simple utility for me.
Is there any other way to back up the database in our situation without rman.
I need some advice from all of you.

There are many possible ways to backup your database. You must decide the one that suits your environment.
Following is the list of options that you have.
1. Take Online Backups
Issue this command to freeze tablespaces
SQL> ALTER TABLESPACE tblspcname BEGIN BACKUP;
Copy all the files belonging to this tablespace to your backup location using OS commands.
Release the tablespace by using this command.
SQL> ALTER TABLESPACE tblspcname END BACKUP;
To find the data files belonging to a particular tablespace you can issue this statement
SQL>SELECT file_name, tablespace_name FROM dba_data_files ORDER BY tablespace_name;
2. If your db size is not BIG then you can take logical backups. Logical Backups can be FULL or incremental. In 10g you can have filesets to spilit your logical backups in more than one file with specified sizes. (By Logical Backups I mean EXPORT).
To take export for example issue this command.
ORACLE_HOME\bin\exp file=fullpath+filename.dmp log=fullpath+logfilename.log FULL=Y userid=system/pwd@dbconnectstring
To get full list of export parameters type
ORACLE_HOME\bin\exp help=y
3. RMAN (Strongly recommended) but you ruled out its possibility so I won't elaborate on that.
4. COLD BACKUP
To perform this type of backup you will need to shutdown your database by issuing this command.
SQL>SHUTDOWN IMMEDIATE;
(On RAC you will need to shutdown all the instances before copying files to the backup location).
Use OS copy command to copy files to backup location.
(This method is not recommended as it will flush your SGA and your client will complain about performance for the first few hours).
Let me know if you need more details.

You can go for any N router lile WRT300N.... WRT350N ..... WRT150N ....

no, that's incorrect.
you can activate on 1 mac and 1 pc, or 2 pc's, or 2 mac's, concurrently.
i have cc installed on 2 pcs and 1 mac. i can only activate 2 at any one time which works well for me because my pcs are at home and my office and i use them most of the time.
but when i travel i take my macbook so i just deactivate one or both of my pcs (uninstalling is not needed) and sign in to my macs cc app.
