What's Inside SAP?

Hi
I am an SAP functional consultant, with limited knowledge of the technical details of the system. I would like to understand SAP system on a high level. If there is any articles, documents, blogs which could help me understand the inner arrangements and workings of SAP ECC? Or answers these questions, it would be great.
1.     What is the SAP system made of? I mean structurally how is it organized inside? I keep hearing function modules, programs, objects, Business objects repository etc..
2.     What is a function module? And what is below or above that hierarchically ?
3.     What is Business objects repository? What is its purpose?
Thanks
Drake

  • URGENT. Please tell me what the inside of a G3 should look like

Hello, I just received an iMac G3 (600mhz) in the mail. Something happened to it which it causing a weird high pitched sound upon startup. It won't continue into the logon screen. I will be opening this G3 up in a few hours. Please tell me what the insides should look like -- what the pheriphials should be like, and connected to -- whatever else is relavant, such as the logic board. What should everything look like? I might need to fix something. I'm stressed and don't have time for questions. Please tell me what I should inspect. Thanks!

You may search online to see if anyone formerly in the service business has older .pdf manuals for sale, maybe along with any older parts or vintage tools. That's a long shot. A local user group of vintage computer owners may also have some leads. A few with libraries of older tech database may have pdfs on DVDs.
someone had a resource link worth a look

    Not sure if this helps.
    I liked my old iMac G3 400DV.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • What's inside of Pagemaker 7.0 package?

I am trying to buy used Pagemaker 7.0 from eBay or Amazon.
However there's no good information about what's inside of original package because most of used programs have missing manuals or CDs, etc.

Really? wow. I currently have Windows Vista on my computer. I bought this desktop at Costco for about 7 years back. Can you call this is new?
Also I would like to ask this.
Is there any limit to install the program on computer using same CD and same serial numbers?
I believe that we need to enter serial numbers each and everytime when we need to install the program.
    Thanks.

    Hi gurus,
my   question is what is my sap?
    what about sap stand for?
Is it systems applications products in data processing? or something esle
    Thanks In advance

    Hi
SAP Stands for Systems, Applications and Products in Data Processing
    <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SAP_AG">SAP</a>
MySAP, a product of the German software company SAP, is an e-business software integration tool that delivers content to the user based on their role in the enterprise. More than 200 pre-defined role templates are available to provide the user with access to applications and resources that are task-appropriate to his or her communication needs in customer relationship management (CRM), supply chain management (SCM), e-procurement, business intelligence, product lifecycle management, human resources, or financial and marketplace channels. The user is able to work with the SAP applications they require by using a Web browser or Internet appliance to access the applications through their mySAP Web portal, called "Workplace". Access to the mySAP.com Workplace portal can be based on a per-user or per-number-of-transactions fee model.

  • What happens inside ...... when fired Index Reorganize

    Hi all,
what happens inside ...... when fired Index Reorganize
    Thanks
    vijay

Logical scan fragmentation is removed (where possible). This can improve performance of certain queries, because it reduces the amount of big disk head movements need to go through all the pages.
In addition to that, it brings the amount of unused space in line with the original fill factor of the index. If you haven't specified any fill factor when the index was first created, then all unused space will be removed (where possible). It does this
by joining the rows of multiple pages onto fewer pages and releasing the empty pages. This can improve performance of many queries, since fewer I/O and less memory is now needed to access the same amount of row data.
When the command runs, it will lock just one or a few pages at a time. This way, most blocking is avoided, and any blocking that does occur will be short lived.
This also means that the reorganization occurs inline, within the pages and extents that are already allocated for the specific index. This is one of the big differences with Reindexing, where new pages (and extents) are allocated.

  • SAP NetWeaver CE 7.1 Trial Version, what's inside

    Hi all,
    I have two main questions.
    First:
What are the limitations of the trial version against the commercial version?
    Specifically It is written:
SAP NetWeaver Application Server, Java EE 5 Edition
    SAP Composition Tools
SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio (with Java EE support), based on Eclipse Callisto
    MaxDB 7.6 database
    Web Dynpro
Which are the composition tools? and
Is the Service registry and repository for service management missing?
    Second:
What manuals, tutorials or documents are good for beginners?
    Thanks in advance
    Best regards
    v s

    Hi,
to start with, the links provided by Abhijith represent a nice overview of the documentation delivered with <b>the older version (SAP NetWeaver 7.0)</b>, and are of no help regarding the SAP NetWeaver CE 7.1.
    To your questions, v s:
    1) >>> What are the limitations of the trial version against the commercial version?
The main differences are that the trial has limited license (30-day, which can be extended to 90-days). It's only a developer installation (i.e. compared to productive install options in the commercial one)
    2) >>> Which are the composition tools?
    This should comprise:
    - the Composite Application Framework (CAF) - a framework for model-driven development of business logic and persistence of composite applications. More information <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwce10/helpdata/en/49/80b066798a4ba2a1e26ce93997e839/frameset.htm">here</a>.
    - the Visual Composer - a tool for visual modeling of user interfaces used by composite applications. More information <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwce10/helpdata/en/45/04134e8a5741dee10000000a1553f6/frameset.htm">here</a>.
    - the Guided Procedures, which a framework for orchestration of services into user-centric, collaborative processes. More information <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwce10/helpdata/en/fb/5e6f4169e25858e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm">here</a>.
    3) >>> Is the Service registry and repository for service management missing?
The Services Registry <b>is part of the trial version</b>. The Enterprise Services Repository is not part of it, neither in the commercial release of SAP NW CE 7.1, SP01.
However, if you're interested in consuming enterprise services defined in the Enterprise Services Repository, you might want to check the <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/explore-es">ES Workplace</a> area on SDN. It provides access to enterprise services definitions in hosted backend systems, which you can use in your composite applications in SAP NW CE 7.1.
    4) >>> What manuals, tutorials or documents are good for beginners?
A good number of getting started tutorials and sample code is available if you browse the Welcome page of your developer studio. You can open it by selecting Help -> Welcome from the main menu of the developer studio.
In the Tutorials tag page, you can find getting started tutorials for different technologies included in the composition environment. In the Samples tab page, you can click on the links to import the sample apps code right to your Developer Studio workspace and play around with them.
In addition, if you'd like to get an overview of what a composite application is, I'd recommend reading <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwce10/helpdata/en/45/beddad24a252f5e10000000a1553f7/frameset.htm">the following section</a> in the Developer's Guide.
Last, but not least, the <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwce10/helpdata/en/46/0b5d04cb774f08e10000000a114a6b/frameset.htm">following page</a> in the documentation gives a good overview of the overall documentation delivered with the product.
    Hope that helps!

  • What is Inside Wire Maintenance and is it really necessary

I'm getting Charged 9.99 a month for Inside Wire Maintenance.  I just want to be clear on what it really is. I've been reading that without this "insurance" Verizon would charge me a ridiculous amount of money to fix any problems if it were a problem with the wires inside my apartment, say or faulty jack or whatever....but if it's anything else say outisde, i heard that verizon don't charge for this.
BUT most of the time when the tech comes, it's never a problem with anything inside my house, it's always a problem with the small box that contains the copper wire connections (not the NID box but the other small box  which i don't know the name) outside the yard, in the backyard of the building.   If it's problem with the box in the backyard of the building, then technically it's not an inside wire problem correct? so Verizon should not charge me right?
This means i don't really need inside wire maintenance correct?
IF so How do i go about REmoving this service?

Verizon charges if there is a problem inside ($90-$100) that isn't caused by their equipment. An example is if there's an issue and they have to replace your coax cable inside or change out a wall outlet. A charge would apply. If a problem is on their end such as they find out its the dvr/stb causing issues or the ONT a charge would not apply. In some cases if they show up and find no issues at all them a fee might apply.
Is it worth the $9.99 a month? IMO no. The chances of an issue going on with something not on their end is rare.
It would be cheaper to pay a one time fee to fix anything if ever needed then pay $9.99 a month which ends up costing more in the end.
If you want to remove it just call them 1-800 Verizon.
Also, considering their terms are always changing, you can also ask them about when a technician fee would apply.
