What's the point on using KF in addition when loading datastore objects?

Hi all,
i'd like to know why sometimes KFs are uploaded in addition even when loading a dso.
I mean, when KF are all in overwrite it's easier to do a full repair request if something goes wrong or you are loading a new field in BW, so why some KFs are in addition (stock movements for example)? It's a choice or it's mandatory?
Thank you
Stefano

Hi Stefano,
this is because some datasources deliver a real delta in terms of changes of keyfigures. So they deliver the decrement or increment of the keyfigure and nothing else.
e.g;
Attribute1  Attribute2 Keyfigure1
xyz           abc          1000.00       "the original 'init' record
xyz           abc          -100.00        "the first change but the real value should be 900 now
xyz           abc          +200.00       "the second change, the real value should be 1100 now
If you set up the keyfigure in overwrite mode in this case, you will end up with 200 instead of 1100.
best regards
Siggi

  • What's the point of using a password?

what's the point of using a password if anyone can insert the installation DVD and choose reset password

As Barney-15E says, someone with physical control, can just remove the disk, and put it in an external enclosure, and mount the file system with their computer and access all the files.
Only encrypted data would be protected. There are data encryption facilities available on the Mac, both included, as well as 3rd party, including 3rd party whole disk encryption.
But having a password on an account, and engaging the password when the screen saver is active, can keep casual access from happening.
Also if you allow network access (file sharing, remote login, screen sharing), the password will keep random net users from accessing your system, when for example, you are in a coffee shop, or if someone gets onto your WiFi network, or you give a visitor to your home access to your network, or you allow a guest to use the guest account.

0Did you ever have a business scenario where a Numerical column should store values only with a fixed precision and scale ?Lots of business requirements for specific precisions and scales.
A persons Age may required to be stored as whole numbers of no more than 3 digits.
A sum of money may required to be stored with no more than 2 decimal places of accuracy e.g. GB Pounds and Pence or US Dollars and Cents
A unit of length may required to be stored in metres with 2 decimal places for centimetres
A shoe size may be required to be stored with one decimal place for half sizes
    etc.
    etc.
Yes, you may just create all of them as generic NUMBER datatype, but creating them with precision and scale can provide additional information about the limitations expected for the values stored, especially for things like reporting tools that may use the specified precision and scale to determine how to display the values automatically (by default).
If you start questioning "what's the point?" then you may as well say what's the point in having a NUMBER datatype when we can store numbers in a VARCHAR2 datatype? or what's the point in having a DATE datatype when we can stored dates as VARCHAR2 datatype? etc.
No point in asking such a question because there's almost always a point to these things (and if there isn't they get deprecated in later versions).

  • What's the point of archiving to ALAC?

I did all the googling and learned pretty much all I need to know about archiving my 1000 CD collection to ALAC.  And I just successfully ripped my first ever CD to ALAC.
The only question I never saw answered anywhere was whether or not there is any advantage to ALAC for archive purposes now that hard drives are so cheap.
I just bought a 2TB drive at Costco for $130.
The first CD I ripped was 693mb, per iTunes.  Once I ripped it to ALAC, it was 450mb.  That's a space savings of 35%.
If my average CD has 650mb of data on it ... times 1000 CDs in my collection ... that 635 gigs.
If I save 35% via ALAC, that's now 412 gigs.  That (now, on a 2TB drive) is a negligible difference.
So I'm asking ... what's the point?  This isn't 2004 when 200 gigs would have cost a lot of money.
I understand for playback, ALAC is cool because you've got tags and album artwork.
But for archiving a CD collection to a hard drive just for the purpose of safe storage ... is there any advantage anymore to converting the file format?
Why not just use Toast or whatever and save a bunch of disc images?

    John_Neumann wrote:
    Thank you, Ed2345.
Regarding your last sentence ... isn't making a new physical CD pretty much the same process whether disc image or ALAC?  I understand you just drop an IMG into Toast and hit burn ... or drop an ALAC into XLD and hit burn.  Or is there a step I still don't understand?
    -JOHN
    John,
It is not actually the same process.  The burn from disc image copies the image, i.e. all contents and structure, onto the CD.  The burn from ALAC (or WAV or AIFF) reconstructs the audio, creates a table of contents, adds its own  gaps, and then burns that to the CD.
However, if your future intent is to use the songs in a player such as iTunes, the ALAC files will be ready to go, while the disc image will still need ripping.

  • What's the point when most browsers are NOT Safari ?

I’m using a Mac of course (since 1996) but also have other browsers installed like Firefox, SeaMonkey & Camino (formerly Mozilla).
Spending MANY hours redesigning my old site, formatting and creating really nice FX that render perfectly on Safari, FAIL to render properly on the aforementioned browsers.
Since most people on the planet are not using Macs or Safari, what is the point of using iWeb08 if the rest of the word cannot see your site as intended? I used to use Mozilla Composer for the last couple of years and I never had any issues with my pages rendering incorrectly...
Try for yourself, visit www.dpkmusic.com on Safari to see what it’s supposed to look like. Then visit it on any other browser. You’ll see what I’m talking about. Unless I’m horribly mistaken and I’m doing something terribly wrong...
I’d appreciate it if some one can let me know if this really is the case. Thanks.
(And yes, I did use the Apple Feedback link already about this matter.)

Out of curiosity, did you shadow the text IN the text box, or the text box itself??? I couldn't figure out why my shadows were too dark and others not when I found that you can do it either (or both) ways. I don't remember now whey I decided the text was better because clearly clicking the box is easier.
Anyway, text shadows & reflections are one thing that do work ok on my web page (my first). I think Georgia which is what I used for body text because I wanted to use something different than Times New Roman for a change but still be 'web friendly' looks weird on the PC/Firefox, kind of moth eaten, although it looks just fine on my Mac/Firefox, might be a resolution issue, I dunno, and the least of my problems right now.
I am also a refugee of the upgrade problem. I just found the solutions here yesterday and plan to work on it today. In my case as a newbie, using a program for newbies, I never encountered the domain.site file while building my entire site so I thought I was backing up when I kept publishing to successive folders to mark my progress. No, I didn't read the Read Me file to back it up when I upgraded, I usually do....
One new thing to mention, I was just checking my fonts to answer your question and clicked on our About Us page (the site is for my lab) and the pics were completely rearranged!!! I moved to another page and back and then they were in correct/matching order. Anybody have this happen???
Best of luck to all, and thanks for all who have done so much problem solving so far.

  • I am extremely upset. I purchased my iPad in SA and I am traveling in Greece. When I want to make use of the free apps, I get a message that the app is not available in the SA store. What is the point of having an iPad if you cannot use it worldwide?

I am extremely upset. I purchased my iPad in SA and now I am in Greece. I cannot download free apps as I get a message that the apps are not available in the SA store and only in US stores. When I change to the US store the same thing happens. What is the point of having an iPad if I cannot use it worldwide??? I feel that I wasted my money purchasing it as I specifically purchased it to use when I travel. How can I get access to all the available apps and why are they restricted.

You can use your iPad worldwide. However, each AppleID is tied to
a specific country's store. To use the AppStore in any country, you
must be in that country and have a credit/debit card issued by a financial
institution in that country with a verified billing address in that country.
It is the developer's choice which AppStores he makes his app available
from, and some countries prohibit certain apps.
To make a purchase from the US store (including downloading a free app
available in the US store), you must be in the US and have card issued
in the US with verified billing address in the US.
You can use your purchases from the SA store worldwide, but you
cannot make purchases in other than the SA store unless you meet
    the aforesaid conditions.

  • What is the point of the download window if you use stacks?

    Greetings,
One of the most annoying things about the download window was the fact that the window always hung around after completing dowloads in Tiger when using safari. To me, that was just a time waster of always pressing Apple+W to close that window.
When Leopard was released, I was excited to realize that one function of the download stack was to recevie downloads from safari after completed. However, after completion, the download window still sticks around and I still have to close it... then navigate to my stack of downloads to mount the image. What is the point of the download window is I use stacks now? Why can't the window disappear after completion?
    //Cheers

Aaargh!! Me too - it's so annoying! Firefox has a downloads window as well - I just don't see the point of it. I didn't like it in Tiger either.
As a way to see the progress of downloads, it's fine, but it should at least close when all the downloads are finished, and completed downloads should not display.
Ideally it should look & work exactly like the Copy window in Finder - the one that comes up when you are copying or moving a large file or number of files from one folder to another.
Is there a hack that will make it work like that?

Or am I missing the bigger picture?

As long as you have a Superdrive or an external burner/drive, burning, watching, installing, etc. from CD or DVD will work just fine. And so will sharing.

  • What are the limitations of using labview 8.5.1 developers suite verses a real-time module in field point applications?

What are the limitations of using labview 8.5.1 developers suite verses a real-time module in field point applications? Can an exe. be loaded onto a field point controller or does the controlling program have to reside on a PC for example?

centerbolt is correct, you can't load a .exe or even run a program on the fieldPoint controller unless you have the Real Time module.  However, that does not mean you can't use your FieldPoint bank without the Real Time module.
From LabVIEW for windows you can make calls to the fieldpoint IO using the fieldpoint read/write functions.
This program runs on the PC not the FieldPoint controller.  If you loose network connection to the fieldpoint, your program will loose connection to the IO.  For many data logging applications this type of arrangement can work just fine.  However, if this is the only type of application you are ever going to run, then you may as well not buy the Real Time controller for your fieldpoint but the network controller only.
If your application requires more reliability, and/or greater determinism than can be achieved by running a program on windows, then you should use the LabVIEW Real Time module and develop a program that can run down on the FieldPoint controller independent of windows.

  • What is an ageing report? What are the data sources used to develop an agin

    Hello BW gurus,
I was going thru some of the BW resumes. I could not understand some of the points mentioned below. Kindly go thru them and please explain each of it.
    Thank you.
    TR.
    •     Developed AR ageing report, created invoice layout and processed invoices.
What is an ageing report? What are the data sources used to develop an aging report
    •     Worked on month-end and year end processes such as Balance Sheet Statements and Profit and Loss Accounts.
What data sources does one use to get Balance sheet and P&L accounts tables and fields.
    •     Involved in the end to end implementation of BW at Reliance Group as a team member.
What are the tasks a BW consultant normally performs when he is involved in an end to end implementation project or
    a full life cycle project?
    •     Extensively worked on BW Statistics to optimize the performance of Info Cubes and to create Aggregates.
What do you mean when you say worked on BW statistics to optimize the performance of Info Cubes.
What are aggregates why do you need them?
    •     Prepared design documents from the Business Requirement documents and identified the
relevant data targets for satisfying the customer requirements.
What are the design documents does one prepare, please give an example.
    Is cube a data target?

What is an ageing report? What are the data sources used to develop an aging report
Aging refers to values in different time period ranges. Example, the customer (credit) aging report can look like this.
customer (credit)  for current period, 0 to 30 days, 30 to 90 days, 90 to 120 days. This is the way aging is classified.
What data sources does one use to get Balance sheet and P&L accounts tables and fields.
For P&L information, you may use 0FI_GL_6 datasource (or 0FI_GL_10 if you use ERP 5.0 version). This datasource reads the same information used in R/3 transaction f.01 (table glt0).
What are the tasks a BW consultant normally performs when he is involved in an end to end implementation project or a full life cycle project?
Requirement gathering, blueprint creation, development etc
Refer to posts on Sap Methodology  and Sap lifecyle

What are the design documents does one prepare, please give an example.
Design document is basically a document to say  how the design is to be developed for a particular solution ex: FI it says what is the data fow and what are the data targets  to be used and how data shld be stored  for providing the client a solution they need.
    Is cube a data target?
Yes cube is a data target.
    Hope this Helps

    Hello Pushtheriver,
After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help in this situation. It contains a number of troubleshooting steps and helpful advice concerning iCloud storage issues:
    Get help using iCloud storage
    This may also help:
    Understanding iOS device capacity
You can sync and download many different types of content on your device. Some types of content (such as music and videos) typically take more space than others (such as notes and books). The amount of space taken by an app depends on the app's purpose; complex or graphically intense apps usually take more space than simpler apps.
If your device is near its capacity, you can remove some of the less used content to make room for more.

  • What's the point of warranty?

I am a student coming from Hong Kong  to London for postgraduate study. Before I left Hong Kong, I decided to buy a netbook for my lecturers in the UK. Lenovo s10-2 was chosen because the version available in HK comes with 6 cell battery with international warranty and Lenovo Protection Service (against accidental damage).
This is the first Lenovo machine for me. All was well and I was starting to appreciate Lenovo. Suddenly, the LED screen started to flick with white lines moving across the it, just two weeks after I bought it from Hong Kong.
Yesterday, I called the UK support line who initially suggested replacement (because the purchase is last than 30-day old). However, when the agent found out that I bought the machine in Hong Kong, he said I could only get it repairs. Fair enough.
I packed the netbook this afternoon ready to ship it to the repair center. Being not sure about whether or not my proof of purchase was needed, I called the support line again. This time, the agent gave me a "friendly warning" or maybe a management of my expectations.
I was told that Lenovo believes that there is a 99.5% chance that these type of problems are due to “internal damages" caused by users! I was also advised that sending the machine in for repairs risk myself getting into paying 230 pounds (pretty much the purchase cost) to get the LED screen fixed because it is likely to be not covered by warranty. On top of that, I would have to pay 65 pounds even if I want my netbook back after inspection without getting fixed because again, 99.5% chance that "damages by users" would be concluded!
What's the point of warranty? Totally unacceptable. Any thoughts? Should I take the risk?
I only got the machine just over two weeks ago and used for less than 10 times!

    seblee,
This bears a bit of looking into to provide you the best answer.   Sometimes, the accidental damage policies are only valid in the home country, and I would like to check.  If that were to be the case, you would have replacement or repair options in HK, but standard warranty terms would likely apply in UK.
Your situation sounds exceptional, and I'd like to look into this and see what can be done.
Can your send me a private message with your contact information and the serial number from the bottom of the unit?
Sorry that you are having this trouble.  Will see how we can help.

What are the implications of using jquery version 1.10.2 rather than the version (1.7.1) that Adobe uses? Thanks
    Bob

I am having trouble when my Edge Animate composition (banner ad) appears on a web page that uses jquery version 1.8.23. Some of the functionality of the host page no longer works. This occurs only when my composition is present & the functionality returns when another ad is displayed (either a Flash ad or a gif). It happens in Chrome Version 31.0.1650.63 m, Chrome Version 33.0.1738.0 canary & IE 11.
I had edited my Edge Animate files to use the Adobe CDN option & to point to another server (mine) so only the html file was needed to be placed in the ad rotator & on the host's server. I now have edited them again to include the Google CDN locations for version jquery 1.10.2 (http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.10.2/jquery.min.js). I am waiting for the host site to try this updated html file. When I visit just this new page & the old one that pointed to 1.7.1 for that matter, it works fine.
Thank you for taking the time to read and answer my message.
