What SSD drives will work in the GT60 0NE?

I'm about ready to give up on my GT60.  I have purchased two different SSD drives and neither one is recognized in the bios when placed in the first drive slot.  They are recognized in the 2nd drive slot, but not the first.  I've updated everything, bios and firmware.  Will someone tell me what model and brand SSD drive will work int the GT60?  When the operating system is install in the second drive slot, i can't use the first drive slot for data because it won't boot windows.  So, i have to leave the first drive bay empty.  Tech support could not help me.

It's rather difficult to recommend a drive....
What drives did you already try?
Are you trying to use the SuperRaid drives?
Do you need a normal 2.5" drive or mSATA drives?
Honestly, any drive should work, it just may not work perfectly. For instance, Samsung 840 Pro drives are known to only operate at SATA II speeds, even when installed in the SATA III slot.
Any Sandforce 2281 based drive should work fine. Intel 520 series should work well, along with 530 as well.

There seems to be a problem, just now, with the USB 3 ports on the new MBP's supporting eternal USB 3 drives. Some people have no luck at all - can't even recognize the drive - and some are reporting USB 2 speeds (those who drives are recognized). I'd call a dealer such as LaCie or OWC to see if they have USB 3 drives that actually work with MBP's with USB 3 ports. You may have to wait for a software/firmware update.

  • I have a MDD dual 1.25ghz processors and I would like to know which sata drives will work with the Sonnet Seria ATA pci card?

Which sata drives will work with the Sonnet Tempo Serial ATA card?

Pretty much any of the SATA 3.0 Gbps drives.
Western Digital Black and Blue and Hitachi 7K drives are all good choices.
If you try a SATA 6.0 Gbps drive, it will need to be jumped to limit to SATA 3.0 Gbps.

  • What SSD Drives are supported on the T420

I am getting a T420 as my new Corporate laptop.   I want to buy an SSD drive to replace the internal hard drive.   I found the newest bios/firmware and looked at the Readme file.  It lists the latest drives and model numbers but not any of the previous models?   How do I get a complete list of all SSD drives/models supported on the T420?  The laptop is going to be imaged with Win7 if that matters.
    Any info is appreciated.

    Hello and welcome,
Any list of drives you find in the README will be a list of drives supplied by Lenovo, not a generic list of drives that would work.
From the ltwbook ( ThinkPad Notebooks; 2005 to present (withdrawn models) ):
Some: Solid State Drive (SSD) / SATA 3.0Gb/s, 2.5" wide, 7mm high
Some: Hard Disk Drive / SATA 3.0Gb/s, 2.5" wide, 9.5mm high, Active Protection System™
So if you're replacing a hard drive, any 2.5" 9.5mm (or 7mm with adapter) SSD should fit.
Another option you might consider is an mSATA SSD. [edit] If the WWAN/mSATA slot is empty - no WWAN card installed.  I use a 256GB Crucial m4 in my T420.  The HDD is still installed as a data drive and spins down when idle.  It's a nice quiet combo with plenty of storage.  I also keep a backup of the SSD on the HDD.

  • Does anyone know if the Toshiba 240GB 1.8" MK2431GAH Hard Drive will work in the 4th gen iPod Photo?

I've been considering buying a Toshiba 240GB 1.8" MK2431GAH Hard Drive for my 4th gen iPod Photo.  Does anyone have any information about this product and if it will work?  Would I have to also get a thicker back panel?

And the reason is because the connector on the later versions of the Toshiba 1.8-inch hard drives is different.
The older type that works with your iPod goes up to 60GB.  There are two physical sizes, base on whether the drive has one platter or two platters, and these correspond to the "thick" and "thin" iPod back panels.
I have a 4th gen iPod with a standard compact flash card for storage, which replaces the hard drive through an adapter.  I believe it's this one, or one like it
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Compact-Flash-CF-SSD-To-Toshiba-IPod-1-8-inch-Adapte r-Black-/121174875639
It fits in the "thin" back panel.  The only modification I needed to make was bending over the pair of "jumper" pins that sets it for master or slave (needs to be set for master).  Currently, I only have an 8GB CF card in there, but it works great.  At some point, I may get a 64GB CF card for it.  Solid state storage is much better than a hard drive for everything except sheer capacity.

  • What wireless speakers will work with the "remote speaker" feature?

I want to use the remote app on my iphone to control my itunes library and was considering purchasing some speakers to put out by my pool. My question is what kind of speakers will itunes detect? what technology are we talking about? RF, Bluetooth?

iTunes itself, that is it's built-in remote speaker function, will work only with an Airport Express. There may be other wireless speakers that have their own drivers or transmitter; someone else here may be able to make a recommendation.

  • What hard drive will work in my on a h81420t

what are the harddrives that works in my h81420t

For some reason, the product model specified returned 36 results on HP's support site.  It looks like it may have one too many characters in it.  What is the product number?
For the most part, just about any HDD should work in the system.  I wouldn't necessarily recommend a 2TB or larger HDD as some older systems can't boot from a 2TB HDD (using one as a secondary drive wouldn't be an issue).

  • What camera/microphone will work with the new Yosemite telephone

I have a older mac and am going to buy a camera/mic to install so when the new Yosemite x comes out I will be able to answer my phone from the computer. Does anyone have any suggestions as to which camera/mic to purchase for this?

I would expect the Yosemite list to be about the same as what is well-supported today.

  • What flash drive will work with OSX version 10.4.11

I have a 2003 i mac OSX Version 10.4.11 with thousands of songs and pictures that I want to back up to save or transfer. The flash drives and external hard drives I have looked at all say they only work on OSX version 5+. What is the best way to save my music and photos?

I'm not sure why a flash drive would say 10.5 and up for the Mac OS. I have three, one bought in January 2012, and they work on all our Macs with USB ports going back to a G3 minitower from 1998 running 10.3.9 to which I added a USB expansion card. Works the same on that relic as it does on our newest iMac quad-core i7
Virtually all flash drives come formatted for Windows. You can leave that formatting to have a cross-platform device if needed or, if you never plan to use it on anything but a Mac, you can use Disk Utility in your Applications folder to reformat as Mac Extended (Journaled), which is how your iMacs hard drive is likely formatted

Is Bose better than JamBox? Can someone recommend one? Is the speaker built into the new IMAC 27" good enough without external speaker?

  • What external modem will work with Satellite L500-1XL running Windows 7

    Hi,
When in Spain I need to use dial up to the internet via Telefonica.
I am assuming the L500-1XL does not have an internal modem?
What external modem will work with the L500-1XL running Windows 7 ?
Many thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi
Youre right Satellite L500 doesnt have an internal modem so you need an external one.
I think you can buy every modem that is at least compatible with Vista. Alternative ask your authorized service provider or favorite computer dealer
Friend of me has good experience with 56K modem from USRobotics like this one:

  • My optical drive went out. what external dvd drive will work?

My optical drive is going out.  I went to Apple and they suggested I buy an external dvd drive instead of paying $150+ to replace the drive on my MacBook Pro. I bought the Samsung Ultra Portable Slim External DVD drive and it took about 15+minutes for my Mac to even acknowledge it. Then it read the dvd and then my Mac told me it was consuming too much power through the USB and disconnected it. And I could not get it to work after that.  I called Apple Support to find out what drives will work and they told me their USB Superdrive.  I told them I read it won't work with Mac's that already have an optical drive installed, they looked it up and told me I'm correct.  When I asked them what other drives they suggest, they told me they had no idea and I should google it.
    Super frustrated.

Virtually ant external drive should work with your MBP.  I would suggest one with external power so that you do not run into the same problem.
You might try a USB 'Y' connector with the one that you have purchased.  That may allow sufficient power for it to operate.  This is an example:
