When do I do the color corrections?

I use the EX1 footage for editing and have Prospect HD.  Should I set the color correction and effects before exporting to Prospect HD or should I first export to Prospect and then apply the colour correction and effects?

I generally do CC last, but others may have an opposite view. Since you have Prospect HD, the answer is a little different. PHD comes with the companion program First Light which does non-destructive color correction via altering metadata within the Cineform MOV or AVI file. What that means is that you  convert the clip to CFHD, then use FL to color correct each clip. This will automatically synchronize with either your NLE or After Effects, as all the CC is done by the Cineform decoder.  There is no re-rendering required and the video track in each CFHD is unaltered. Once you are satisfied with the final CC, then you can render to your delivery format.
Prospect HD version 5 (which is being released when CS5 hits the streets) supposedly extends the CC by keyframing, so the CC can be changed within a clip. First Light is incredible and you can read more about it on the Cineform website or at their message board at:

  • How to keyframe the color correction

    Hi!
Is there any way to do keyframing in color correction, but use a pen tool in motion tab for each individual parameter separetly?
User manual gives an impression that it might be possible to make keyframes in color correctors visual view:
    http://koti.welho.com/tsuonio1/Color-Corrector-missing-but.jpg
So that when there is a clip where exposure changes, it could be corrected in color corrector, and add the keyframe so that values changes gradually from previous keyframe.

    Thanks for answering.
In a way it does automatically add keyframes:
I have a *color corrector* tab in a separate window, and everytime I make changes in it, the new keyframe appears in filters tab graph-line-indicator of that particular parameter.

  • When will apple change the color grey and white?

I may be color blind and have trouble seeing certain colors but that doesn't make colors a bad thing thing for itunes. One reason I don't like using to much my itunes is for the fact I can't change the color. It's rather a big issue for me because I can't stare at my screen since the white and grey just really hurts my eyes. I would think a glossy black or maybe color adjustment would do so much for itunes. I think it would make itunes so much more attractive and wonderful to look at. and lastly I really don't like the fact that I can't play any files i purchase from itunes in my windows player. NO device I have allows me to watch it any bigger then how it looks and I'm really not liking this! I regret purchasing from iTunes now. Can iTunes take away that M4v video stuff because then I might as well buy it from Amazon is it won't be any use on my computer because like how I explain iTunes grey white color is really unnattractive and I just don't like playing videos nor music files on it. THANK YOU! and I hope to look for changes

  • When I try change the color of the edge ui only change the color of the top line

    Hi,
When I have tried to change the color of the edge field with this command:
$.ui.#textEdit.border.edge.color.value="255,255.255" only change the color of the top line.
    Somebody know why?
    Thanks
    Ruben

I'd like to add i've encountered the same issue. I've found out that you can use the object appearance options to reset the borders to the same properties for all edges and corners. We have custom properties for the border of a field and i needed to set the border to 0mm and back to the default 0.018 mm and our color using the option "edit together". After that, the script to change the border color works for all edges, i suppose it'll work the same for the presence.

  • How do I apply the color correction that I did to one of my clips?

I want to increase the light exposure of my clip, but how do i do it using the color corrector?
    Please advise.
    Thank you.

Depends on the shot. We can't see it. You might try using the luma sliders, maybe push up the mids.

  • I don't see my color correction filters?

    Hello again,
I'm working with a subclip that I created from a capture that I made from my video camera and I am having trouble finding the color correction tools that were available when I went through the Color Correction tutorial. I opened up my video in the viewer and switched to the Color Correction window layout. In my viewer I have the following tabs, Video, Mono (a1), Mono (a2), Filters, and Motion where I can't find any of the settings for brightness or RGB control. How do I find these controls?
    Thanks

Have you added the 3 way color correction filter to the clip?

  • Color correction in FC Pro when working with multiclips

Is there someway to preserve the color correction I apply in the sequence timeline to a clip, and to preserve the motion attributes I apply (i.e. it's in the sequence, then I double click to show it in the clip viewer and make adjustments) when I then include that clip (through the bin) in a multiclip?
Basically I want to have to avoid repeating angle-specific corrections for each edit as I go along in a multiclip.
    MikeR

I tried applying corrections to each before making the multiclip and it worked this time. I think what fooled me is that the 4-in-1 window reflects the original clips. But canvas playback shows the changes in the selected angle.

  • When i print out a color photo the colors are not accurate

I have a new envy110 series CQ811A. I have a windows 7 64-bit laptop. There are no error messages and the Envy works great but when i print a picture off of a web site the colors are not accurate and i mean none of them. i have returned one printer already but this one is doing the same thing. i really like this printer but if it won't print the colors correctly  i don't know what i will do. I also have a HP C4280 All In One Photo Smart and whatever is printed off the colors are great it just is not wireless. I have tried everything and nothing helps. Is there a solution

    Hi easyneez5!
Sorry to hear it's not printing web pages so well.
I do have a suggestion, that may or may not align with the way your are used to printing web pages; HP has a new and improved application for printing web page content; HP Smart Print.
It's supported on IE (most versions) and can do some neat tricks: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/partner/microsoft/bing-bar-for-hp/smart-print.html
There are also other potential 'tweaks' you can try in the [Printing Preferences] / [Advanced]: Image Color Managment; You might try setting it from 'ICM Handled by Host System' (default) to 'ICM Handled by Printer' or even 'ICM Disabled'.
Again, this is merely a potential way to check to see if this helps get those colors right; and remember your settings before you change them.
      Hope this helps

  • How can I see the combined result of primary and secondary color correction in the vectorscope

    Hello there,
so I can't figure out how to see the combined result of all the color correction I did on a shot. If I click on each individual layer (primary or each individual secondary) I can see the result of each one individually on the vectorscope, but I want to be able to see the final result of all the layers combined.  Is this possible within speedgrade?
thanks in advance for the help
    Luc

Occasionally SpeedGrade seems to forget itself or something. It's kinda weird/funny, but ... on occasions I have been working and say one tab just stopped responding when I clicked on it, but everything else was fine. Shut it down, come back into it ... all is righteous. Thankfully I've not had some of the major bonkers-responses some clearly have. I'm sure that will come also. This is an incredibly complicated and complex program under the hood, of course. But all in all ... I do love working in it.
When I have the excuse to do so ...

  • Problems when rendering color correction.

Hi! I discovered a possible bug in Pro CS3. Maybe in Pro 2 too? When manually adjusting "levels" in the Color Correction menu, the rendering
makes some frame dropouts. I pulled away som blue tint in some
footages and the render results in jumpy playback when people move fast by the camera. Sounds' linear and OK. When scrolling the timeline frame by frame, some frames are gone compared to the original. Ticking
the Effect Icon in the Effects Control window on and off, it changes
back to normal in the original movie. Exporting it as AVI makes same.
But when doing Color Balance instead, and lowering blue, everythings'
    normal. Strange!

  • Retaining the Color of the row when it is refreshed in Javascript

    Hi,
I have a checkbox when it is checked it will highlight the row with the color. When it is unchecked the color will go off. This is happening fine.
But the problem i have is that when i refresh the page or goes to some other page and come back the color is not retained eventhough the checkbox is checked.
I want the color to be retained even when the page gets refreshed.
Please do provide a solution for this since it is urgent. I will be waiting for ur replies..
    Thanks,

try to make a hidden form that will hold the value of the colored form
    ex. <input type="hidden" name="name" value="<%=colorOfForm%>"
you can pass this value to the next page.. so that when you go back to that page.. you will get the value of the hidden using request.getParameter(''name"); and set the color of the form using javascript

  • Color correction challenge, PP5.5 Mac, ProRes to WMV

I'm eager to complete my transition from FC Studio to Production Premium CS5.5, but I'm challenged to ensure consistent color in my ProRes to WMV workflow. Any advice would be appreciated.
My shooting gear: EX1R, w and w/o Nanoflash
Editing gear: 2008 MacPro (3.1), OSX 10.6.7, 10 GB RAM, ATI Raedon 4870
Workflow (FCP): Acquire footage, edit native (XD CAM EX/XDCAM HD22), render sequence to ProRes 422, transcode via Quicktime 7 Pro/Flip for Mac to produce WMV files for my PC clients.
Workflow CS5.5 (intended:) Acquire footage, edit native (XDCAM HD 422 via Nanoflash), output sequence to ProRes, transcode to WMV via Quicktime 7 Pro/Flip for Mac HD. After I put a "trial" sequence together in PP5.5, I adjust footage with 3-way color corrector. Here's where the fun starts:
Process: I attempt to create a "master file" from the sequence, using AME with output set for Pro Res. The next intended step would be to open the file in Quicktime Pro 7, then encode via Flip for Mac to produce a smaller WMV file for my clients.
Outcome (1) The results look as though color correction was bypassed completely. After much trial and error, I discovered that when I encoded using ProRes 4444, color corrections were preserved. Yet when I transcoded from 4444 to wmv, (2) the resulting files appeared to have no color correction. No good.
I'm stumped! I thought I was on to something when I noticed the "preset" for outputting XDCAM HD422 was not set for "progressive," but it appears to make no difference.
Sidebar: I experience the same issue regardless of use of XDCAM EX or XDCAM HD422 files. With the latter, I've edited clips in MOV and MXF format. Same outcome.
Until I get this workflow issue sorted out, I'm stalled in completing my transition to PP. I'd like to have acquired gobs more RAM and an Nvidia Quadro 4800 card already, but I need to know that I've fixed this issue first.
    Any suggestions most welcome.
    Sincerely,
    Tom

I finally figured it out! If there are any other FCP to PP traitors out there like me in Mac land, here's a workflow that results in WMVs matching the color corrections created in your PP sequence:
    1) Edit native. In my case, I'm working with "XDCAM HD 422," the result of linking a Nanoflash set for 100 mbps/long gop to my EX1R. Both FCP and PP "read" them as 50 mbps files.
    2) Export media to AME, checking the box, "Match Sequence Settings." With little delay, this produces a file with an mpeg extension (the mpeg-2 codec). In Quicktime player, this yields silent footage with no audio. Bummer. End of story, I thought.
    3) But this time, I brought that same "black" file into Apple Compressor. Using the Flip For Mac plug in, I exported to one of my "regular" settings, 2-pass, VBR, 640x360. The result: a perfect color match with my color corrected PP sequence.
I'm sure there are alternatives to bringing a file that won't play in Quicktime into Compressor. I'll try Quicktime Pro and Streamclip next. But the point -- I think -- is to not bother with any more intermediate formats/files than one has to.
    Sighs of relief here.
