When Firefox quits after I close the last tab, that last tab is *always* restored the next time I start the browser, which isn't what I want.

This has been happening over the past 10 days. I've done nothing to change Firefox and see no option under options/tabs that will solve my problem.

Hello,
Make sure that you don't have a ''user.js'' file that has '''browser.sessionstore.resume_session_once''' set to '''True'''.
To check for a ''user.js'' file, go to your profile folder:
* Either enter '''about:support''' in your address bar, or go to Tools (or [[Image: New Fx Menu]] > [[Image: Help-29]]) > Troubleshooting Information
* Click the ''Show Folder'' button
For more information about the ''user.js'' file, please see:
* http://kb.mozillazine.org/User.js_file
* https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-to-fix-preferences-wont-save#w_user-js-file-overriding-preferences
EDIT: You can also double check the General tab of your Options to make sure "Show my windows and tabs from last time" isn't selected.

  • With Safari 5.1, I have to re-login after I close the browser window

    After I upgraded to Safari 5.1 from the previous version, I noticed some changes that I do not like.  Whenever I close the Safari browser window and later open it up again, I have to re-login to all websites that require login (such as ebay, Facebook, my Yahoo).  With the previous version of Safari, this only happened when I quit Safari and reopened the application afterwards.  With the new version, I even have to set my default location on Google Maps every time after I close the browser window.  With the previous Safari version, that didn't even happen after I quit out of it.  Another thing I noticed is that the browsing history starts listing again after I close a window, even though Private Browsing remains checked.
    Is there a setting I can change to avoid having to re-login every time I close a window ?  Or is this a feature of Safari 5.1 that cannot be changed ?

    If you have Private Browsing enabled, that's why you aren't staying logged into websites. Same with Google maps.
    Private Browsing doesn't  "remember" AutoFill information.
    Click History in the menu bar then click: Clear History

  • After I close the browser, it will not reopen for a while. I receive a message stating that firefox is still running. I can open IE at this point, but firefox is disabled for about 10 minutes

    After I close the firefox browser, I cannot repoen the program. There is an error message to the effect that the program is still running. I cannot access it withthe ALT TAB command and I dont see the program active in the task bar. I can run IE at that time and get back to the web, but Firefox wont open for several minutes-not sure how long. I wait a while and I can back to the browser. That's all I can tell you unless you have specific questions Thanks BB

    Try closing any running instances of ''firefox.exe'' (and plugincontainer.exe) using something such as Task Manager. That should allow you to then restart Firefox.
    As for iLivid. Possibly it also has associated apps or extensions with names not including the word iLivid. Looking at their own FAQs there are instructions to remove iLivid using the Windows Control panel, and mention of other bundled software that you may wish to remove. It seems it is more of a nuisacne rahter than out and out malware.
    * see http://www.ilivid.com/faq.htm (page scrolls for more info) but includes:
    How do I uninstall the software?
    The software can be removed in a simple was like any other software:
    Go to the Windows Start menu and then to Control Panel > Add/Remove ("Programs & Features" in Vista & Windows 7) and click "Remove" next to the software name (e.g iLivid Download manager / Windows iLivid Toolbar ).
    During the installation bundle software are offered, each can easily be removed following those instructions: Uninstall Yontoo Addon , Uninstall Search Toolbar (powered by Bing) or Uninstall Babylon.

  • You need to fix the "hangup" issue that firefox has. I close the browser, and 24 hrs later, it's STILL eating up all my processor time.. this IS an issue you need to have fixed.

    I dual boot between Win XP Pro x64 and Win 7 Ultimate x64. I also have a 2nd pc running strictly XP Pro 32 bit, and it's the same problem. Close the browser, and everything else takes a long time to load, even the security screen for Win7. then it takes a few minutes for task manager to show up. Seriously, I love the browser any day of the week over Chrome or IE. Fix it. kinda hard to do much when the browser is eating 90%+ of the processor

    I greatly appreciate the suggestions and the links.. I honestly looked earlier, but didn't find the ones you posted. My fault there. I have looked at them, and for all intents and purposes, I've already taken the steps they've suggested: disabled all plugins and extensions. Removed/uninstalled all plugins/extensions. Uninstalled and re-installed Firefox, no plugins or extensions.
    The problem still occurs. This isn't a problem that just started occurring, but has been relatively consistent in appearing since, v3.1 ( i think? Been going on for quite awhile)
    I'll continue to try and find just what is happening, but honestly.. I really do not believe the problem is my system.

  • Close the Browser which clicking Logoff Button

    Hi,
         I have requirement like this,
                                      I have button Logoff. While clicking this button my webdynpro application must close i.e
    it must close the browser.
    I am using the following code
    "com.sap.tc.webdynpro.services.sal.um.api.WDClientUser.forceLogoffClientUser("");".
    But this code moves  to some other screen and gives message "Webdtnpro applicaation is closed,bye".
    Please help with the code and procedure to handle the Logoff.
    Thanks,
    Anitha.

    Hi,
    The following steps describe how to terminate the application using an exit plug with a parameter defined for the URL. This procedure is recommended by SAP, because after the termination of a Web Dynpro application the user is not logged off when executing a Web Dynpro application on the NetWeaver Portal.
           1.      Define an exit plug in an interface view of your local component interface which is displayed in the Web Dynpro Explorer view. Either use the default interface view, or create a new one. Open the Controller Editor with its plugs, and create an exit plug within the outbound plug table (via New).
           2.      Follow the wizard, and enter the name Url for the parameter and select string as the type. This parameter is case-sensitive and must be entered exactly this way.
           3.      Go to your view, define an action with name Exit and use the default event handler named onActionExit().
           4.      In the view layout, define a button and bind its onAction event to the Exit action. To do so, start the View Designer on the view unit (Open ® Open View Editor, choose Layout tab).
           5.      Display Properties for the current view unit, and define usage of the Component Controller of your WD Component.
           6.      Switch to the view controller coding: Choose tab Methods, then press F3 on method name to start the editor with the implementation (.java file). Add the following method coding:
    //@@begin onActionExit(ServerEvent)
      String logoffURL = wdComponentAPI.getApplication().getApplicationInfo().findInApplicationProperties("sap.logoffURL").getValue();
    wdThis.wdGetTimeCompInterfaceViewController().wdFirePlugExit(logoffURL);
    //@@end
    Or
    Follow this procedure,
    create a button and create an action exit.
    in exit method write the following code
    public void onActionexit(com.sap.tc.webdynpro.progmodel.api.IWDCustomEvent wdEvent )
    //@@begin onActionexit(ServerEvent)
    com.sap.tc.webdynpro.services.sal.um.api.WDClientUser.forceLogoffClientUser(null);
    //@@end

  • I click on a link and it goes there in Firefox but it doesnt put the browser on top of what I am doing. How do i fix this?

    I click on a link and it goes there in Firefox but it doesn't put the browser on top of what I am doing. It used to do that, how can I make it go back to doing that?

    I am using Robo Form like I have for years and when I click on a website to open it goes there and puts in the username and password and opens in a new tab but Robo Form stays on top and Firefox is underneath it and it used to automatically go to Firefox and put it on top and now it doesnt do that anymore.

  • Why do i have to use task manager to end firefox even after i close the website

    every time i go to close firefox, i use either the X or file exit.
    then i go to the icon to launch the program (firefox) i get a pop up that tells me firefox is still running to maybe restart my computer.
    the only way i can override this is by using "task manager" look for the icon and end the process.
    then i can reopen the browser

    Use "Firefox > Exit" (Windows: Firefox/File > Exit; Mac: Firefox > Quit Firefox; Linux: Firefox/File > Quit) to close Firefox if you are currently doing that by clicking the close X on the Firefox title bar.

  • My pc says Firefox is running after I close the browser, and will not let me access the internet. This continues even after I shut down and restart my pc. It even continues to do it after I uninstal, then reinstal Firefox. What can I do?

    We tried uninstalling , tyen reinstalling Firefox, but we still get the error message that Firefox is running, and the PC won't open the browser.
    We went to the Task Manager on our PC, which said Firefox was running, and told TM to close it. But, when we try to then open Firefox, we get the same error message.

  • My Firefox.exe process remain open after I close the browser.If I open it it's says to open a new window.I need to close the process manualy(Ctrl+Alt+del).What can I do?Thanks .

    Need to close the process.

    It does take Firefox a while to shut down; it has to update some databases. But it should take less than a minute.
    In the support article, this problem is called a "hang at exit" because Firefox hangs when shutting down. Maybe something here will help: https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Firefox+hangs#Hang_at_exit
    Also, sometimes open Firefox windows disappear from the Task Bar. You can use Alt+Tab to switch to them if they remain open.

    re-install because of earlier problems, most current version. Usual plugins, all up to date.

    It is possible that there is a problem with the file(s) that store the extensions registry.
    Delete the extensions.* files (e.g. extensions.json, extensions.sqlite, extensions.ini) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder to reset the extensions registry.

    If you see disabled or not compatible extensions in "Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" then click the Tools button at the left end of the Search bar to check if there is a compatibility update available.
    If this hasn't helped then also delete possible addons.json and addons.sqlite files.
    You can reset all prefs to have a fresh start and delete possible user.js and numbered prefs-##.js files and rename (or delete) the prefs.js file to reset all prefs to the default value including prefs set via user.js and prefs that are no longer supported in the current Firefox release.

  • Click links & right mouse button copy suddenly stop functioning. Closing Firefox no longer actually closes the browser without restarting the PC. What gives?

    Whether in open or private browsing, Firefox suddenly becomes non-functioning, as noted. (Seemingly) closing the browser to run CCleaner, the popup tells me I must shut down Firefox to clear the cache. Only remedy: restart the computer to reset.

    Help!

    Hi Kossa,
    You can also check if the issue occurs in
    Clean Boot. If the issue disappears in the Clean Boot environment, you can continue to narrow down which entry is causing the issue.
    Besides, uninstall it and re-download
    a fresh copy of FireFox to check the result. If the issue still exists, create a new user account to see if it occurs.
    If the issue persists, you can contact Mozilla Support directly and use Internet Explorer (IE) during the time.
