When I double click FF 18 nothing happens, but if I right click and click open then it opens please help

When I double click my icon on the desktop nothing happens, I mean nothing, but if I right click and then click open it will open my web browser. I'm using FF 18 recently updated from FF17, and I did have some slowness until I reset firefox, but that seems to have taken care of the slowness.
