It is possible that your anti-virus software is corrupting the downloaded files or otherwise interfering with downloading files by Firefox.<br />
Try to disable the real-time (live) scanning of files in your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes downloading work.

I have been using Firefox for almost a year now,and had upgraded to Version 7 recently.
My problem started with the downloads.
1) When a download is to be commenced,a box appears with two options,namely "SAVE" and "CANCEL".
Even when I click on "SAVE",the the box shows it as 'cancelled'.When I right click on the box,another dialogue box appears with a number of choices ,the top one reads 'RETRY'.
When I click this option the download starts and it is shown in the chosen location until 99% is completed,bu the moment the download is complete,the item i.e. the downloaded item just disappears from the chosen location and is not traceable thereafter.This has happened to me repeatedly over the past week or so and I am so disgusted that I have been compelled to uninstall Firefox,and have started using Chrome.
Please help,as I would like to get back to using Firefox again but without the above problems.Understood. However, the point that I'm trying to make is that it's not the WiFi access point's security that's in question, it's having your phone's WiFi in an always-on mode that's in question. It's simple: if your phone's WiFi is on, then it is both discoverable and hackable... even when it's not connected to a WiFi network or access point. The point is that it's not secure to have your phone's WiFi in an always-on mode. It would be better for privacy and security if Apple made WiFi location aware so that it is only enabled when you are at a trusted location (e.g. your home or office). Or, at least give us the option of location aware WiFi so that each user can determine the best mode for their phone:
(1) Always-On (current default - not secure and many privacy issues).
(2) Trusted mode (only on at trusted locations).
(3) Off. -

The icons in your Dock are "aliases" or copies of the original so it's easier to open them.
To find your original Downloads folder, simply click on the Smiley Face Icon in the Dock near the begining, it opens a Finder Window.
On the left, click on your "username" icon, on the right a list of folders and one will be "Downloads"
Now click and drag this folder to the Dock next to the Trash Can (only) and it will make a new "alias" there. -
I got an error message that I should connect to Wi-Fi after trying to download a Book Sample from the iBooks Store. I still get this error message even after I bought, downloaded, and transferred the file to my iPad's iBook thru iTunes. Wi-Fi ain't cheap.
Hi I had a similar issue to you, I could connect to the router but no internet. Here is my explanation of how I sorted it.....I hope this works for you.
*To anyone that is reading this it appears that the problem lay in the airport setting: IPV6: set to 'Automatically'. I turned it off (after reading someones plight on MacFixIt) & everything is back to normal.*
*The worrying thing is although my problem was extreme with other computers on the network being locked out nothing was changed, one minute it worked the next it didn't. Reading on other forums it appears to be a problem with laptops (but I could be mistaken). A lot of people on the Macfixit forum are complaining of network just dropping out even when they are next to the router.*
*I hope this is the fix (although I dont know why it suddenly went to sh*t!) & I hope my hair pulling & trawling the forums can help someone else out.*

I got a software update message this morning and clicked install and restart. Now my e-mail icon has disappeared from the dashboard. How do I get it back?
Don't recall the exact wording. But it is the same in appearance as others. Anyway, problem solved using RogerWilmut1 reply to someone else. I opened Applications and got the icon back. Thanks for responding.

I am trying to download an iWork 09 manual from the Apple website but all I get is a big plain black window. I am following the download instructions very carefully. I know I have the most recent version of Adobe Reader. Using Safari, when I try to "Save As", I get a message saying "cannot export". What am I doing wrong??
Turns out this is an overall problem....any PDF I try to download on line turns up the same plain black page. Doesn't matter whether it is what I tried to download mentioned above, or if it's the latest power bill from our utility company. An UGLY black screen!! I have it set up that downloaded PDF documents should open in Preview.
On the other hand, any PDF documents in my computer files open with no problem.
Prior to installing Lion, most of my activity lately has been converting AppleWorks documents to Pages and, if that doesn't work, I convert to PDF. Other than that, I haven't been fooling around with any settings.
Once again, I appreciate your input....any other suggestions?

My time machine backup disc, which has been working ok for a couple of years has suddenly disappeared from the desktop. The time machine program tels me it is unavailable. I have checked that the drive is working by booting up in Windows. and Windows can see it and read it ok. What has gone wrong, and how can I fix it?
I have tried unplugging it and reconnecting, but it is still apparently not seen by the system.
I could use Windows to reformat it, and start again, but this would loose all my previous backups, and I've no guarantee that the system would notice it even then.
Has anyone any ideas?I think it's formatted on FAT 32 system, but I'm not sure. It's been working for a couple of years so far without any problems, so I think it must be compatible with Mac. The problem is that all of a sudden, the Mac doesn't acknowledge that it is present.

I recently added two accounts to Thunderbird and everything seemed to be going smoothly. Today I was using one of the new accounts and wanted to change to my old Edurostream account. But it was nowhere to be found. The new accounts and another old account are there. If I go to "accounts" Edurostream is still there, but there is no way I know of to get from there to the inbox for that account. There is no error message. I am using the latest version of Thunderbird (24.6)
If you have all your emails going to Local folders, this sounds like you have a Global Inbox for the pop mail account.
You can check this here:
Tools > Account settings > Server Settings for the mail account.
click on 'Advanced' button.
Is this selected?
'Inbox for a different account' and 'Global Inbox (Local Folders)'
Global Inbox accounts do not show the mail account name in the Folder Pane as it does not use those folders.

If you remove the account, the emails will remain in Local Folders.
If you change the settings as described above to point to 'Inbox for this servers account (also see image below - words may be a bit different as not an image of latest version), then you will see the mail account in the Folder Pane with it's own set of folders. New mail will go to those folders, but old mail will remain in Local Folders. -
Downloads show in downloads window, but disappear from window as soon as finished downloading.
I start a download (say, CCleaner from filehippo.com). The firefox "downloads window" opens and the file appears, downloads, virus scans, but then it just disappears. I'm left with an empty "downloads window". The downloaded file is in my downloads folder and I have to run it from there.
It never did this before and changing settings in OPTIONS or disabling ADD-ONS has no effect.See:
*Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history" > "Remember download history"
Also check the Clear Recent History (and CCleaner) settings if you use it.

ITunes 11 downloaded album art disappeared from first song of many albums
In iTunes 11. the downloaded album artwork disappeared from the first song of many of my albums.
This just randomly happened; it wasn't after an upgrade or any other noticeable event.
The artwork is still associated with all the subsequent songs of the album, just not with the first one.
I do not want to embed the artwork into the music files.
Nor do I want to "Clear Downloaded Artwork" and redo "Get Album Artwork" for the affected albums, since some of the albums are no longer in the iTunes Store, so I won't be able to download their artwork anymore.
The best that I can think of is to:
1) remove the song that is missing the artwork from itunes without deleting the file from the hard drive
2) in iTunes, copy another song from the same album
3) delete the newly copied song from the hard drive without removing it from iTunes
4) in iTunes, "Get Info" on the newly copied song, which will tell me that it can't be found, and give me the option to "Locate" the file
5) "locate" the file by selecting from the hard drive the file for the song that was mising its artwork, and that was removed from iTunes in step 1
Unfortunately, this will remove the song's rating, play counts, etc., remove it from any playlists, and change the date added, etc.
Does anyone have a better solution?
Thanks.Oh ok. I have just set it to automatically pull cover art but I might try doing each track as you suggested. I just assumed this would be automatic for every track not just the first one.

Some e- mail attachments won't open on my iPad Air w/ 7.1.2., some does. There is this sort of link on the bottom of the e-mails that says "download full attachment " and when pressed sometimes the attachment opens but sometimes it simply disappear from the e-mail. I couldn't identify the problem neither solve it. Could somebody help me please

My albums and slideshows disappeared from the left column when I ejected a Canon camera after a download. My version of iPhoto '08 (V7.1.5(378)) had just crashed when I first connected the Canon camera to download. I restarted iPhoto.....successfully downloaded 22 photos, and ejected Canon camera, upon which albums & slideshows highlighted blue and disappeared from the left column. The photos still seem to be under the EVENTS and PHOTOS in the LIBRARY. Any thoughts?

Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
