When i download software updates, do I need to delete old versions from my computer?

I'm updating my software on my Macbook (I'm a bit rubbish at keeping them up to date) and I noticed another tab entitled 'Installed Software' which has various versions of Itunes, Security updates etc on it. Do I need to delete these or are they self-deleting as i update items? I don't want to have my computer running slow due to too many versions of software on there that i don't need.

You need to set your primary email rules to delete your emails from the server.
Be that on your PC or Mac or Web mail client
The iPad is a client only and doesn't do this for you.
The iPad is designed to allow you view your mail (ideally via an Imap or Exchange server) however management should be carried out on server for security reasons.

Double-click the white Adobe Reader Icon to open a new windows.
Double-Click the "Adobe Reader X Installer.pkg" file inside.
If it has already been installed it will notify you and say that it has been installed already.
If you no longer have those files go here to get the latest version of Adobe Reader.

It sounds to me from researching the other white 'icon' you have that you are trying to install a copier by the brand of Rico Aficio.
Possibly the Aficio 2090/2105.
If so the install CD/Driver download for that copier must have also wanted you to install Adobe Reader to view the User Guides/ Documentation included.
If you are trying to install said device then double click the white icon labeled Ricoh_Aficio...double click the installer file inside of that.
It should run a setup/install window like Adobe Reader did then go from there. If it has already been install also you can go to your System Preferences -> Printers to see if it installed correctly and is working properly.
You can get to system preferences by clicking the Apple icon very upper left on your screen and selecting it from the drop down.

Cant Download Software Updates, Random app needs update

I have two problems with the Mac App Store. The first one is that there is an app called "CodeBox" that i have never downloaded or used that is available for an update on an account that I've never seen. The second is that I havnt been able to install software updates since I downloaded Mountain Lion. The notification for a software update pops up but the only update I can see is the CodeBox app.

Type or copy/paste:   ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the trash.
Same:   ~/Library/Preferences/
Click Go the move the com.apple.appstore.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Trash.
Same:   ~/Libray/Cookies
Click Go then move the com.apple.appstore.plist file from the Cookies folder to to the Trash.
Try the App Store.. see if that made a difference..

I have lost my iphone and found it using the "find my iphone" app. I called my service provider to suspend my account as the phone was found out of my city. I also hit the delete iphone button and it says pending: delete iphone. It will not delete until the device connects to the internet, however, I have cancelled that service so will the device not delete?

Software update says I need to do the lastest update which I have tried to do at least 6 times. It downloads the software, the computer restarts, it starts to finish the download and then says ' there was an error in installing the software" What is up?

Software update says I need to download MacOS 10.6.7. Each time I try, I have tried 6 times, the software downloads, it has me restart the system, it then writes the files to disk and then I get an error measage that "there was error in installing the softare. Anybody have this problem and how do you fix it? I am running 10.6.6

Try this before trying to install the update.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
If you still have a problem then I suggest you download the 10.6.7 Combo Updater and install it.

It sounds to me as though you are attempting to open a Pages 09 document with the Pages 08 application. If you do have Pages 09 on your computer, it may be that for some reason an existing Pages 08 application is invoked accidentally.

IBCM Software updates, Do I need an Internet SUP or not?

A quick description of our current setup (relevant bits at least):
Site server
Windows Server 2012 R2 with ConfigMgr 2012 R2 C3 primary site, with intranet client only SUP
DMZ server
Windows Server 2012 R2 with MP and DP roles installed (no SUP)
I'm able to manage internet clients, apply policies and deploy software (both apps and packages). So I know my IBCM setup works
Here's is the issue:
I'm unable to deploy software updates to internet clients.

I can see the primary site server, which happens to be the only SUP on the hierarchy is still being referenced.
It is my understanding that internet clients will default to downloading updates from windows update when "if software updates are note available on preferred distribution point or remote distribution point, download content from microsoft updates"
enabled in the deployment settings (see screenshot below).
My question is: Am I missing something? do I need to deploy a SUP on the DMZ site system? If so... will this DMZ SUP synchronize according to the settings defined on the site settings?

You can have both, btw. Configure your GPO with a filter so it only applies a WSUS point if the SCCMExec isn't detected. More info can be found here:

This way any clients without a SCCM agent still honor the GPO for updates but the GPO effectively stops "fighting" with the installed agent once it gets installed.
Also, I'm pretty sure you still need an internet facing SUP. THe checkbox you are playing with is only for downloading the patches ... not for detecting what patches are needed:

Try these in order - from best option on down...
1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
2. Download <a href="http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/"><b><u>iPhoto Library Manager</b></u></a> and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new *iPhoto 6* library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Rolls and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Roll Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

The Settings > General > Software Update option only appears when you have iOS 5+ installed, as your tagline indicates that your iPad is on iOS 4 then you will need to do the update via your computer's iTunes.
Connect the iPad to your computer's iTunes and copy any purchases off the iPad to your computer via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases. You may also want to copy photos and any important documents off the iPad as well e.g. via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc - they should be included in the backup, but it's best to have a copy of them outside of the backup just in case. You can then force a backup of the iPad by right-clicking the iPad 'Device' on the left-hand sidebar of iTunes and selecting 'Backup' (on iTunes 11 you can enable the left-hand sidebar via option-command-S on a Mac, control-S on a PC)
Then start the update by selecting the iPad on the left-hand sidebar, and on the Summary tab on the right-hand side clicking the Check For Updates button

I do understand download speed depends on my internet conneciton speed. But when I plugged in the hard line the download speed increased quite significantly - as in from 12 hours to 47 minutes. Normally Wi-Fi is fairly quick but when it comes to downloading - not. That's why I asked the question. Maybe I need to change the settings on my MacBook Pro.

Can you not now set a silent ringtone for an individual contact? I can by opening the contact and changing the ringtone. Only prerequisite is to download or make a silent ringtone (Google should provide any information you need) and sync it to your iPhone.

My late 2011 MacbookPro downloads software updates but when I try to install them, it tells me that it's not supported? The software is currently OS X Lion 10.7.5 and I tried upgrading a few things but it won't install. You would need to upgrade to Mavericks to upgrade iMovie to the version now on the App Store.

Downloading software updates at a given time?

Does anyone know how to download software updates at a given time, then apply them automatically?
The GUI softwareupdate has daily/weekly/monthly, but can't say download at 8pm (when no one is at the office).
I made a crontab entry for the command-line softwareupdate tool to download at 8pm and it works (mostly). It drops them in ~/Downloads. However, to apply them I have to find the files and individually double-click.
If I try to crontab the installation, it won't work as it needs root privileges, and crontab runs as a non-root user. (I guess I could modify root's crontab? I'd prefer not to.)
If I try installing from the GUI, it seems to ignore the already-downloaded packages (i.e. starts downloading them again). If I try installing from the command-line tool, it also ignores the already-downloaded packages (i.e. starts downloading them again).

I think the only way to set it for a specific time is to do it manually. Perhaps there is a Terminal command that can be input, but I'm not aware of it.
