When I edit photo's in Iphoto on my ipad2, it decreases the resolution. Why does this happen and does this also happen on a macbook air?
I have made pictures on high resolution with a Canon 100D camera, which means the pictures are 5-6 MB.
But when I edit them on my Ipad2 in Iphoto it decreases the size and resolution of the pictures to about 0.5MB
Does anyone know why Iphoto decreases the resolution of my pictures when I edit them?
And does this also happen with Iphoto on a macbook air?

Are the photos raw photos or jpeg? When you edit raw photos in iPhoto on your iPad, the raw image will not be processed, only the embedded jpeg. That will reduce the resolution of the image considerably.
But when I edit them on my Ipad2 in Iphoto it decreases the size and resolution of the pictures to about 0.5MB
How do you save he edited version after editing? That will determine, if the image will be scaled down,

If you edit a photo in the iPhoto Camera Roll album, the edited photo automatically appears in the Camera Roll on your iOS device, at the resolution of your device. If you want a full-resolution version of the edited photo sent to the Camera Roll, tap and tap Camera Roll. The full-resolution photo appears in the Camera Roll, and is transferred to your computer when you sync the Camera Roll with your computer.
And does this also happen with Iphoto on a macbook air?
iPhoto on a Mac has a lossless workflow. iPhoto will always store the original image file that you imported and compute an edited version from this stored original. The quality of the photo you will see outside iPhoto will depend on the methode you use for sharing. You can export at the original size or scaled down, depending on the purpose you want teh photo for, small for email and web presentation, full versions for printing, for example.

It just needs to rebuild the database. You do have your iPhoto library backed up to an external source just in case?

I had to restore iPhoto - photos were lost - now many thumbnails show up as same photo. When opened the correct photo is there. It seems to show up as most recent edited photo. Using iPhoto 11. Any advice?
I've just had the same problem, after a repair ALL thumbnail previews were the same image replicated...

I was editing photos in my iphotos and it froze on me. So I shut down my computer and when I restarted I now can not access them. It says Your photo library is either in use by another application or has become unreadable. What can I do to fix this?
What you're describing is the Finder window for your external hard drive. When you're in iPhoto and try to edit a photo what happens?
Are you saying that the photos for your iPhoto library are located on the external HD while your library is in the Pictures folder on the boot drive? That would indicate a referenced library. You can check to see if you're running a referenced library by checking the Advanced Preference pane in iPhoto:

So based one the Advanced preference pane in iPhoto what type of library are you running. Where is the library itself located? It should look like this:
By default it should be located in your Users/Home/Pictures folder. However, it could be run on an external HD. -
When making a photo book, my iPhoto freezes during uploading the book to the storey. I have attempted this 4 times now and I don't know what to do! I know the file size is massive due quantity of large image files, but I don't want to reduce the image file size and compromise quality in the book. How can I get past this?

Try to boot into Safe Mode and order this way, or sign into a different user account and try to order as a different user.

That's just a visual differentiator so folks can easily tell if it will run on their machine. The difference is the RAM and processor in the iPad 2 and iPad (New). The camera has nothing to do with the physical requirements.

Arrow in bottom left allows you to multi select. After you choose your photos, you can hit the delete button that appears in the bottom right hand corner. Or, you can hit the cancel button in the rop right and not delete them -
I use a Mac. When I try to open my iPhoto Library in Elements I get the error message "cannot complete request, PE does not recognize this type of file." The import option only allows me import a "frame from Video"?
You can't use iPhoto that way. Poking around in the iphoto library from outside iphoto is just begging for trouble, the fastest way to corrupt your library and lose all your images.
You have two choices with iphoto:
1. Set PSE as your external editor and send the photos from iphoto. Save, never save as, and don't change the name or format and iphoto will remember your last saved edits and the original, although you have to lose the edited version to revert to the original. This doesn't work with raw files.
2. Export the photos from iphoto, use File>Open in PSE and then you can make all the changes to name and format that you want. Then import the saved edited version to iphoto as a new file. -
I cannot edit pictures in my iphotos. I am able to start new projects but my calenders and books that I was working on are frozen. Any ideas on how to fix? I spent a lot of time working on these. Thanks
Any work you do in Lightroom is in the catalog. It is impossible to use Lightroom without a catalog.
In addition, your photos are filed in a specific location, which is determined when you import the photos (this may be a location you have specified or it may be the default location chosen by Lightroom).
So ... unless you specifically choose to delete your photos, your photos have not been deleted. To find them, open Lightroom and select File->Open Recent and select each catalog shown there until you find the one with your 170 photos.
And now ... a word to the wise: as gvb279 and Keith said, you absolutely need to stop doing whatever it is you are doing and learn the basics of Lightroom. You are clearly in need of such basic understanding. I want to remove all of my photos out of iPhoto there are approximately 35000 some imported from an old hard drive and a SD Card from my Nikon D500 how do I do this?

I want to do this because when I imported from my old hard drive there was an error message stating that 12 photos were not imported as the programm did not recognise the format even though they were jpegs like the other photos in that particular album. The dates of the photo folders are wrong I have multiple copies of photos and every time I start iPhoto I get the following message 12 photos have been found in the iPhoto library that were not imported would you like to import them No or Yes
if you press Yes the same message comes back again and if you press Yes again the program flicks to last import for 2 seconds and then opens events.
if you press No the message The photos have been placed in the folder/user/judith/pictures/iphoto Library recovered photos then if you press OK the original message 12 photos have been found.............
if you press No at this point the message The photos have been placed in the folder/user /judith/pictures/iphoto Library recovered photos_11 the end number goes up by 1 every time you go through this process

The way to clear out a Library is to Export the photos - Apps like iPhoto2Disk or PhotoShare will help you export to a Folder tree matching your Events.
For the annoying start-up message:
Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Look there for a Folder called 'Import' or 'Importing'.
Drag it to the Desktop. *Make no other changes*.
Start iPhoto. Does that help?
If it does then look inside that folder on your desktop. Does it contain anything you want? If not you can trash the folder. -
Hi, I'm trying to order a photo album through IPhoto, my billing address is in the UK but I'd like the book to be sent to an address in the US. Step 3 says enter shipping address, I go to enter new address and the only country it offers is the UK, I cant change the shipping address to US.
Go to File / Provide Feedback and tell Apple that you want this enhancement in their product.

I just downloaded iTunes 9 and i do not want to upgrade any further, so when i plug in my iPhone iPhoto recognizes it as a iPhone/camera but iTunes does not recognize it. any help would be appreciated.
