When I hit reply to an email, a name of someone OTHER than the person who wrote me is already in the to: line.

So an email arrives and I read it. I want to reply so I click on reply or reply all. When the reply opens, a name is already in the to: line but it isn't the person/persons who sent me the message and to whom I want to reply. I have to delete the name/s and re-enter the correct one/s. It is usually the name of the last person I wrote to before this particular email arrived.
This does not seem to happen when I use Internet Explorer so I'm thinking its a Firefox issue.

Firefox doesn't do email, it's a web browser.
If you are using Firefox to access your mail, you are using "web-mail". You need to seek support from your service provider or a forum for that service.

Emails go to an address other than the one in the profile

My mother has an iPad and an apple id and her profile has only her email address listed. I do not have an iPad but I do have an iTunes account with only my email address listed in my profile.
For example if she wants to reset her apple id password she asks for the reset email to be sent to her NetZero email account but it ends up being sent to my Hotmail email account every tome. We cannot find any mention of her email address in my apple profile and no mention of my email address in her apple profile. My emails from apple come to my Hotmail account as they should but my mother's do not. Hers come to me. How can we correct that?

How are you checking her account ?
If she logs into her account via the 'manage your apple id' button on http://appleid.apple.com then does she have your email address set as her rescue email address - select the 'Password And Security' section of the account, answer the two security questions, and you should be able to see if she has a rescue email address : Manage your Apple ID primary, rescue, alternate, and notification email addresses.

MacBook was frozen so I hit control, command, power and now everything is gone other than the start button. Can anyone help?

The sceen is now blue. The dock, all applications and every icon on the screen is gone. What remains is the apple start button and the drop down menus of whatever application I choose as "recent items" from the start menu.
I've tried to restart but it opens back to this.

Email received by Windows Outlook crashes outlook when they hit reply

I'm getting frustrated responses from the recipients of emails I send them from mac. mail. They say that when they hit reply their Outlook application crashes. If they copy and past the contents of my mail message into a new email and send that to me it works just fine. Is anybody else having issue or have a solution?

Calibri is the default font, and is on Windows 7, not as default on XP, so i will invistigate that further. Thanks for that sometimes you miss the obvious!
Microsoft update - they claim its an issue they are aware of. Their workaround - clean uninstall / reinstall Office and have users use Word to compose emails.. nice! An email client that you cannot compose emails in.
Any more suggestions hugely appreciated.

I talked to our email provider and they say it has to do with the way thre recipients email address book has recorded the address. They say that they need to fix the address on their end.

When I'm using the mail program on the Internet .mac site, and hit reply to respond to a letter I received, inevitably the automatic address generated by the program won't function. The reply button puts the person's name and then e-mail address in brackets on the address line. When I hit the command to send, I receive a message that the address is not a valid e-mail address. Then I have to go back and erase the name and remove the brackets-then I am able to send the e-mail. Is everyone having this problem with mail on the .Mac site? I mean I am not typing in the e-mail address incorrectly. The program generates the return e-mail address when I hit reply and it is always incorrect because it puts the person's name as part of the e-mail. Am I doing something wrong?

Yes I know what you mean about it cluttering the thread and for personal emails it is better without the signature. However this relates to sending business emails from an iPhone so I need the signature present on every email.

A reset may help. Tap and hold the Home button and the On/Off buttons for approximately 15-20 seconds, until the Apple logo reappears. When the logo appears, release both buttons.
No content is affected by this procedure.

I have just been having this problem and it has been driving me mad. The error message doesn't tell you which file is causing the problem so you can't fix it and it leaves your libray in a state of limbo with some files copied into the new location and some in the old location. After many hours I found a surprisingly quick and simple solution.
1) in iTune create a smart play list that includes everything that was added before tomorrows date. This will include everything.
2) Right click this playlist and export it as a text file to produce a tab delimited file.
3) Import this into a spread sheet, or just view it in a text editor with line wrap turned off. What you are interested in is the last column (or end of the line in a text editor). This gives you the path of the file associated with each entry in the library.
The path of the files that have already been copied successfully will start with the new location for your media files you specified. Scroll thru the rows until you get a blank path. If you start getting paths starting with the old Media file location then you went to far and start scrolling back.
The row with the blank path was the file that failed. Move back to the start of the row to find out more about it. In my case it was a podcast with a very long name. I just deleted that podcast from iTunes.
4) Restart the consolidation by choosing File, Library as you did before and the process starts again where it left off.
5) If it fails again on another file just repeat the process

The suggestion above is for MailBoxes on the Mac in the mail app and have nothing at all to do with the iPad. I think that you are asking about the iPad mail app.
You need to have an IMAP email account in order to create additional mailboxes on the iPad.
If you go to your email account in the Mail app and look at the window where your inbox, trash folder and sent folder are - if there is an Edit button at the top of the window - tap that and then tap Add Mailbox at the bottom.
If the Edit button is not there - you cannot create folders on the iPad. Your email account is not IMAP. Only IMAP email accounts can create folders on the iPad. Any folders that you would already have in an IMAP account would sync to the device as well.

I have a user who wants to do this same thing. I did not find any way either to default the attributes to anything other than what you see the first time. Seems like such a trivial thing, hard to believe they do not allow it. I did find a program for this called iDress but I can't seem to download it from any links on the Internet. Try going into Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars. Then select the account on the right-hand side of that screen, select Account, then Advanced, Deleted Mailbox, and under On The Server tap the 'Trash' folder (or whatever it is called by yor provider) so that it gets a tick against it - then come out of that series of popups by tapping on the relevant buttons at the top of them and then see if you can delete emails
