I transferred my SIM Card into a new device only to be subjected to the exact same problem. I have reset the phone clearing all the data and updated to the most recent software version available from itunes; and still no improvements. The results of my switching to a new phone would indicate a software issue.
Does anyone out there have this problem and how can it be fixed?

Try removing the screen protector that is covering the microphone.
Scratch that; wrong answer. I thought you meant you had trouble hearing.

My iphone 4 squeals when i make an outgoing call or answer an incoming call thru the handset....if i switch to spkr...the squealing stops....any ideas??
I am having the same problem. Squeal with handset calls, no squeal with bluetooth in the car or on speaker phone. Some calls have no squeal, but then I can hear the person on the other end, but they cannot hear me. Has anyone come up with a solution? I am going to reset to factory settings and see if that helps.

Hi! I need help! I put my sim card into a new iphone (3g) and then tried to put it back into the old one to get my contacts from it. Now the old iphone is locked and it's asking for a passcode, but I never set up a passcode on it. Has anyone experienced this or does anyone know what to do? Thanks!
Not sure if this applies to your region, but in Australia the SIM password is often written on the "credit card" sized plastic card that the SIM was provided to you with the phone by the telco. Do you still have this? It could be in the iPhone box?

The iPhone does not support importing or transferring contacts stored on a SIM card to the iPhone's address book nor storing contacts on the SIM card activated with AT&T. It is recommended to use the new SIM card included and pre-installed with the iPhone for the AT&T activation.
Are these contacts not available in the Address Book application if you have a Mac or in the Outlook address book if you have a Windows PC and use Outlook as your email client?
If not, you can take this SIM card to an AT&T store and for a small fee or maybe you can talk the store into doing this for free, they will extract the contacts from the SIM card into a format you can use to import the contacts into the Address Book on a Mac or into the Outlook address book on a Windows PC. -
I was notified that I needed to update two of my current apps. I tried to do so and they both froze in the install-update phase. So I discontinued them and tried to download as new. they froze again During the install phase. So to test the apps in general I tried to install a completely new app. It also froze in the installing phase also! Please help me. Thanks.
Once one app stalls in the downloading phase, every other app behind it will probably stall as well. Do not try to downloads any other apps until you get this resolved.
If the Apps are showing the "waiting" icons, try some of theses suggestions and see if one of them will get you out of this predicament.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Make sure that you do not have a stalled download in iTunes - a song or podcast .... if you have a download in there that did not finish, complete that one first. Only one thing can download at a time on the iPad so that could be what is causing the problem.
If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Sign in and then try to update again. Tap one waiting icon only if necessary to start the download stream.
You can also try deleting the waiting icons - tap and hold down on an icon until it wiggles - the tap the X on the icon to delete it. Then try to download again.
You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered.
If all else fails, download the updates or the apps in iTunes on your computer and then sync the content to your iPad. -

I think it might be my audio drivers.

This only happens when I have the FW 410 interface selected in the audio/hardware setup. Panning under the built-in audio works fine so I would imagine it's the M-Audio drivers for the FW 410 that need a working update for Leopard."

Plug your phone into the wall charger for at least 30 minutes...make sure you have a sim card in the phone...then:
Leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, iTunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still don’t see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new.
Make sure you have no anti-virus software running or any firewalls...turn all of that stuff off. -
Can't make an outgoing call on the edge network... WHY???!!!
So have full reception on the edge network and no matter where i am at, my 3g phone for the life of me wont make an outgoing call.

I already restored my phone, reset the sim & have now resorted to turning it off and on to avail.I have this exact issue and yes, if I have my 3G off I can make calls - don't need to re-try even once. As soon as I turn it on again, it might take me 10-15 redials until I get connected!!!

How do I change my phone settings on my iPhone 5 so that when I make a phone call while I am on the phone call my phone stays lit up. It never goes black so I am constantly hitting other buttons while I try to talk like mute or FaceTime or speaker! Please help this is so annoying! It's like all I need to do is fix the settings somehow and I have gone through all of my settings and I can't find where to do this!
Is the phone in a case? Try taking it out of the case. If that doesn't work, then your proximity sensor is broken. You'll need to bring your phone to Apple for evaluation.

I have changed my account to SIM only and when I put my new SIM Card into my iPhone 4 it just says 'no service' in the top left corner, also iMessage has stopped working too. I can only use my phone on my WiFi at the moment, does anyone have any idea?

After a successful home button repair on my iPhone 4, I've got a buzzing sound when I make or receive calls. No problem with the speaker as I can listen to online radio stations and my music.
I guess your definition of a "successful repair" is different from most people's.
If you got it serviced by Apple, take it back to them.
If you had it serviced by a 3rd party, Apple won't touch it. Take it back to whoeever fixed it for you.
