When I plug in an USB to the usb port my computer shuts down

I bought my macbook air a couple months ago and when I plug in the usb into the usb port my computer shuts down. I dont know why this happens, but is not always, just sometimes.
Does anyone know why this is happening?

Have you tried plugging the flash drive into a different Mac to see if it works? The Air shouldn't have any problem with it, I use a couple of flash drives in mine, although I don't have a pq1. Did you try both USB ports on the Air? Do you have another flash drive you can test in the Air, or a different USB device, like a hard drive or printer?
The only thing I can think of is either a bad flash drive, or a bad USB port on the Air. Sorry, can't be more help than that.

The ringer works fine, and the music plays through the stereo system just fine. When I try to turn up the volume, the ringer shows on the screen, but it will not increase in volume. When I unplug the usb, everything works fine. I have tried different cords and different cars, all with the same result. This only happens in the car, when hooked up to the usb in the house or to the computer, everything works fine. When plugged into the car, the sound disappears. Any ideas?

Try looking for the iPod below the Search field in iTunes. If it doesn't show up below search, the second article provides troubleshooting tips that should help you out.

Usb unrecognisable message now appears when i plug my old ipod into the usb port on my v70. It used to work so i assume this is a problem caused by updating to the latest software. Has anyone been successful in downgrading to an earlier os using itunes

I now get an urecognisable usb device message when i plug my ipod classic (ipod colour?) into the usb input in my Volvo V70. The ipod used to work, but since updating the IOs it doesn't. Can anyone tell me where i can find a copy of an old ipsw which does work so that i can downgrade back and acheive compatibility again,

When I remove the battery charger the computer completely shuts down and won't start up without the battery charger. I have to restart all my windows when I turn it back on. Before it would just go to sleep and if it was charged it would come back on without batter. Any suggestions on what this can be?

You must have the credentials that were used to turn on Find my iPhone on the device. Without them, you can not get past the activation lock.

Computer shuts down when installing network preferences

I have bought a sitecom wireless adaptor. My ibook recognizes a network but it still does not connect to the internet. When I try to change the network settings my computer shuts down and I have to restart. When I connect to my router with a cable it functions fine. Does anyone have a clue as to what is the problem?

Does the Shuffle appear ini Tunes at all? If not try using a different USB port and double checking to make sure the other end of the syncing cable is firmly seated in the Shuffle.
