When I syn I cannot download ibook states neen newest version of ipod software but when I try to update ipod states newest version installed. With out ibook I cannot transfer books I have downloaded to itunes
when I syn ipod in itunes it will not download ibook and states that it needs newest version of software for ipod but when I try to udate ipod it states it has newest version. (chasing my tail). I cannot down load books from itunes to ipod and I feel this is problem. I have had it for 3 years and no problem downloading till now
The following is applicable:
If you have iOS 4.2.1 or later on the iPod and there was version compatible with that version, then you should be able to get a compatible version by:
App Store: Downloading Older Versions of Apps on iOS - Apple Club
App Store: Install the latest compatible version of an app
You first have to download the non-compatible version on your computer. Then when you try to purchase the version on your iPod you will be offered a compatible version if one exists.

I recommend no less than 2GB's of RAM. There is no download for SL, you must purchase from Apple, $29 at any Apple store. Leopard is no longer sold by Apple. About the only place you can find a retail disk is eBay, however the prices are getting ridiculous. -

but when I want to download apps actualize asks me to ios 5I suspect you have a 2G iPod. Those can only go to iOS 4.2.1.

If you have iTunes 11 on your computer then you can enable the left-hand sidebar on it via option-command-S on a Mac, control-S on a PC - when connected (and if your computer's iTunes is up-to-date) your iPad should then appear on that sidebar under a 'Devices' heading :
