When is .rep ,.rdf and .jsp produced

i have used 10g reports and generated .jsp
for 6i i generated .rdf
how is .rep generated ?
pls let me know
rgds

Hi,
the rdf is generated at runtime and is a editable definition of the report. The rep is a binary executable file. So for example if you don't want someone else to see the source-code, use rep.

  • When to use servlets and jsp in an application like  shoping cart?

    Hi All
    I m going to design and implement a web application using servelts and jsp. I am still at its requirements analyze stage.
    The application is almost likely a shopping cart. So if any of you have the deep knowledge about this domain with servlets and jsp please help me for a good design. What I realy need to know is that
    1. what are the core requirements for a shoping cart ?
    2. use cases ?
    3. best way to follow mvc with servlets and jsp for it?
    you can answer to this at the abstract level. no need to go in detail.
    if you have any documents like design and use cases mail me to [email protected]
    your cooperation is highly appreciated in this regards.

  • Advantages of using RDF  over JSP

    Hi
    1. What are the advantages if i save the reports in .rdf or .rep or as .jsp for a paper layout reports.
    2. To run the batch is it necessary to save the report as .rdf or .rep.
    3. Can we schedule these reports in Job scheduler(OEM).
    Regards
    Ranganath

    Hello Ranganath,
    1. You can save your reports either as RDF or JSP to run them to paper. Both report formats store the paper layout information. REP files are run-only report definitions, in that they are pre-compiled and cannot be edited/opened in Reports Builder.
    2. Both RDF and JSP reports can be run in batch mode.
    3. Similarly, reports in both these formats can be scheduled.
    One difference between the two formats is that JSPs are pure text files and can be opened and edited in any text editor. On the other hand, RDFs and REPs are binary format files. Further, only JSPs can be deployed on the web using the JSP engine.

  • Report Errors REP-1051 and REP-1070 when saving

    I just created a new report. I'm now getting errors REP-1051 and REP-1070 when I attempt to save the .rdf to my local hard drive (or anywhere else for that matter). Permissions where I try to save it are OK, in fact if I remove the SQL and insert "select * from dual", it saves nicely. Is there a query size limit of which I'm unaware? The SQL runs corrrectly, compiles correctly, etc. I just can't seem to save my work. Thank you in advance.

    REP-1051 and REP-1070 What are the messages for these codes?
    Which version and OS are you using?
    How are you calling your report?

    Download MPEGstreamclip (I gave you the link in my previous post), it is free.
    Then you'll need to export the clips as QT movie > ProRes or DV.

  • Switching between Design and JSP tabs add code?

    I am new to SJSC and I am taking the time to go through all of the little odds & ends of the IDE.
    I was looking at:
    http://blogs.sun.com/roller/page/tor?entry=computing_html_on_the_fly
    And I decided to try this.
    When I add the following in the JSP tab:
    <h:outputText binding="#{Page1.tableHtml}" id="outputText1"/>Save.
    Then click on the Design tab, then go back to the JSP tab, I now have:
    <h:outputText binding="#{Page1.tableHtml}" id="outputText1"/>
    <h:outputText binding="#{Page1.outputText1}" id="outputText1"/>It's late here, but this doesn't make any sense, why would switching between Design and JSP tabs add code?

  • Why do more empty, localstore.rdf and perf.js files appear in my profile everytime I open and close Firefox?

    I have hundreds of empty localstore{xxx}.rdf and perf{xxx}.js files in my profile folder. Where {xxx} denotes a number. New, higher numbered files appear every time I open/close firefox. There ate two pref files (perf.js and perf1.js) which are not empty. There is one localstore.rdf file which is not empty. All other files are zero byte files.
    Also, my toolbar customizations will not stay put. I have to re-customize the toolbar regularly. Erasing all of the localstore and perf files in case of a corrupt file does not help.

    That suggests something is preventing Firefox from modifying those files. This usually happens when anti-virus software keeps a lock on the files.
    ''localstore.rdf'' is the file that keeps your toolbar customizations. Since Firefox can't modify it, your toolbar customizations are lost.

  • Ideas pls for a small application on java and jsp?

    hi ,
    I would like to create an application which for resume. I would like to codify the java code . The java code should be able to autogenerate jsp file's since the output of the resume would be on an jsp page. To add it simply a wizard for dynamic resume creation using java swings and jsp. Code for jsp should be autogenerated please note it.
    Ideas please!
    Thanks in advance

    I'd like to add more information to Patreck's suggestion.
    JSP pages are wonderful if you need the web server to perform some actions before sending you the final web page.
    Here, you don't need the web server to do anything because your Swing application can do it for you. As Patreck implies, Swing can make a connection to the database, retrieve any information you want, perform whatever logic you need, and write the output to an HTML file.
    To give you an example, you can use Internet Explorer to view a basic web page on your hard disk. You can also use Microsoft Word to view the same basic web page. They both do the same task and there is no need to force IE to use its Word plug-in in order to view the web page.
    JSPs are not necessary because Swing will do all of the work for you. You only need JSPs if you want people to use your program through a web browser because they can't do Swing inside a web browser. You should only use one or the other, not both. Understand now?
    If you really really must generate JSP code from a Swing application, then just write out the JSP stuff in the file. For example...
    public void createWebPage( Printwriter pw, String myName ) {
       pw.println( "<% String myJSPName = \"" + myName + "\" %>" );
       pw.println( "<HTML>");
       pw.println( "<HEAD>");
       pw.println( "<TITLE>My Resume</TITLE>" );
       pw.println( "</HEAD>");
       pw.println( "<BODY>" );
       pw.println( "<H1>My name is " + myName + " and my JSP name is <%= myJSPName %></H1>" );
       pw.println( "</BODY>" );
       pw.println( "</HTML>" );
    }As you can see, it's pointless to embed JSP when you can do all the programming within Swing first and just write out the correct response.

  • HT1926 I installed the itunes update on my regular PC. The update failed and produced an error in MSVCR80.DLL I spoke to an apple tech about it. He blames Microsoft for the error. I did the same update on another PC and it produced the same error. Itunes

    The iTunes update is causing a problem on PC's resulting in an error pointing to MSVRC80.DLL. I called Apple Support they blame Microsoft.....(What a surprise!).
    I did a second update on another pc and it produced the same problem with the same DLL file. Apple still says it's not their problem. Unfortunately until they acknowledge the problem and correct it iTunes is no longer functional. That's too bad but Windows Media Player works fine.
    Apple, own up to the problems you create. Don't pull an Obama!
    When enough people have the problem it will force Apple to correct it. Everyone on a PC using iTunes who try the update will have this problem.

    Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
    Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
    Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
    The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
    Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

  • AJAX producer/consumer and JAVA producer/consumer  in same project

    I've already successfully integrated and customized the code for both an AJAX and JAVA producer/consumer client in JMS (using ActiveMQ as the JMS broker and Tomcat as the webapp container). While both have been working well in separate projects, unfortunately, I'm having a bit of trouble trying to integrate them for the purpose of running an AJAX message listener and JAVA message listener in the same project.
    What I'm trying to do is have JAVA act as the failover for when the AJAX JMS consumer is not listening (i.e. when the browser is closed). When a browser client opens, the (constantly running) JAVA client can ignore the messages... but... when no browser client is initialized, the JAVA client should respond to the messages on behalf of the AJAX client.
    I've tried using a ServletContextListener pattern, which I was hoping would "automagically" launch the JAVA listener via its main method, whenever the Servlet gets initialized (i.e. it would auto-start when Tomcat gets restarted, or, anytime the Servlet gets redeployed) but it seems Tomcat is not thread-safe and this might be causing some problems.
    In any case, I can't seem to get the JAVA client to reliably start running and stay running for the lifetime of my AJAX client (webapp .war), and without including them in the same project and same J2EE container sharing the same ServletContext, I don't know how its possible to ensure they are running and starting and stopping at the same time.
    Is there perhaps a better way to accomplish this?

  • Cannot checkin/checkout html, js, txt, and jsp files in MS Sharepoint Workspace 2010

    I am having issues checkin/checkout html, js and jsp files in Microsoft Sharepoint Workspace 2010. I can access (checkin/checkout) any files in the actual Sharepoint site, but when I am synchronized to the site in Sharepoint Workspace 2010 I cannot access

    "Can not perform this operation. This document has been checked out or may no longer exist."
    Could this be a synchronization issue, or was Sharepoint Workspace 2010 not design to work with html, js, txt, and jsp files?

    This is my worst nightmare. please help so i can start building web application using servlets and jsp.

    Let me tell you right now, you have BORING nightmares.

  • Differences between WL or Netscape for Servlets and JSP's

    What are the advantages / disadvantages of running Servlets under WL,
              vs. say, running them in Netscape's servlet engine? Assuming EJB

    David,
              One of the major reasons to run your servlets on Weblogic is that we have an
              optimization that allows us to pass by reference objects when calling from
              servlets to EJB. This makes things much faster.
              A number of our customers, in addition, have seen performance problems when
              using other servlet engines. It just seems to cause problems due to their
              threading models etc.
              Finally, our servlet engine is by far the most mature and robust on the
              market today. Our JSP implementation is also the best in terms of
              performance.
              Thanks,
