When replacing Labview 2013 with Labview 2014, do I firstly need to uninstall Labview 2013?

I have just recieved my latest version Labview 2014 CD.
When installing this new version, do I firstly need to uninstall previous Labview versions?

The reverse, however, is not true.  Once you install one version of LabVIEW, you cannot install an older version without uninstalling everything and "starting over".  Be warned ...
Not exactly true.  You can install just an older version of LabVIEW.  I have had LabVIEW 2012, 2013, and 2014 installed on a computer and then installed 8.2.1.  It is all of the support drivers and what not that do not install side-by-side.  So the real lesson here is that if you install an older version of LabVIEW, pray that your current drivers support that version of LabVIEW.  You will need to reinstall the drivers to install the support for the older version of LabVIEW though.  Installing just the support takes hardly any time.

your recommended second option that i could add true/false case.

You can execute a fixed number of iterations using a while loop by comparing the iteration count to the number of iterations you want and wiring the output of that comparison (e.g. Less Than or Equal To) to the continue (or stop) terminal of your while loop. Which comparison you use depends on personal preference, where you wire the desired count and the interation count, and whether you're using the while loop as Continue if True or Stop if True.

  • Product suggestion: auto mode selection when replacing boolean operator with compound arithmetic operator

A quick suggestion (I am not sure where to post this).
Wouldn't it be great if when replacing a boolean operation i.e. AND with its compound arithmetic equivalent (to add and extra input for example), the compound arithmetic could default to the correct mode. (It seems to default to OR)
I have never learned the arcane boolean symbols for AND and OR etc, I always have to go and double check to mode when dropping it down onto the block diagram.

  • When I connect my phone iTunes tells me that I need to uninstall and reinstall a 64-bit version.  I have the 64-bit version installed.  Help

I have been fighting with iTunes for the past few days.  My wife deleted a file by "accident" and I have been working to get iTunes to work ever since.  I have worked through numerous issues and managed to work through them all, but have now hit one that I can't and that I can't find a solution elsewhere.  I have done the complete uninstall (complete meaning, very complete) and reinstall of the 64-bit version of iTunes several times now.  The software works fine until I plug in my old iPhone (4).  When I do, the software popps up with a message that says that I have the wrong version of iTunes and need to uninstall my current program and reinstall the 64-bit version.  Anyone else out there had this happen and if so, what did you do???

Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, does your device connect without that message now?

  • Install errors with many 2014 apps and can we safely uninstall previous versions post-installation of the new releases?

I'm getting errors for several CC 2014 applications. The CC desktop says "Installation Failed", and yet some have actually been installed despite the failed message.
I also want to know if we can/should uninstall the old versions (CC and CC 64-bit) before (or after?) updating, because rather than upgrading the applications (which would have been nice), it just installs alongside them....so now I have 3 versions of Illustrator, 3 versions of PS, etc. I don't want all these versions, only the latest. Is it safe to uninstall the older versions (CC and CC 64) post-failed-installation of 2014, or should I just uninstall all and reinstall?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Text file - replace a pattern with part of the previous line? -SOLVED

    Hello, I'm stuck with sed/awk/grep...
So I have a file with lines like this:
    Nice bunch of words <STUFF> <STUFF> <IMPORTANT_DELIMITER_TYPE_1> <STUFF> <IMPORTANT_DELIMITER_TYPE_2> <STUFF>
    Even Nicer bunch of Words <STUFF> <IMPORTANT_DELIMITER_TYPE_1> <STUFF> <STUFF> <STUFF>
    Wonderful bunch of Words <STUFF> <STUFF> <STUFF><IMPORTANT_DELIMITER_TYPE_1><STUFF>
Then, I want to move the "important delimiters" to new lines (might be better not to do this in fact...)
Nice bunch of words <STUFF> <STUFF>
    <IMPORTANT_DELIMITER_TYPE_1> <STUFF>
    <IMPORTANT_DELIMITER_TYPE_2> <STUFF>
Even Nicer bunch of Words <STUFF>
    <IMPORTANT_DELIMITER_TYPE_1> <STUFF> <STUFF> <STUFF>
    Wonderful bunch of Words <STUFF> <STUFF> <STUFF>
    <IMPORTANT_DELIMITER_TYPE_1><STUFF>
And finally, I want to replace the important delimiters with the content of the line they came from originally, up to the first angle bracket:
Nice bunch of words <STUFF> <STUFF>
    Nice bunch of words <STUFF>
    Nice bunch of words <STUFF>
Even Nicer bunch of Words <STUFF>
Even Nicer bunch of Words <STUFF> <STUFF> <STUFF>
    Wonderful bunch of Words <STUFF> <STUFF> <STUFF>
    Wonderful bunch of Words<STUFF>
How can I accomplish this using absolutely anything at all that doesn't involve too much manual effort (the file is about 30,000 lines of this stuff)
    Thanks !
Last edited by darkbeanies (2013-09-01 19:18:29)

"<STUFF>" is not irrelevant. In your original example
    Nice bunch of words <STUFF> <STUFF> <IMPORTANT_DELIMITER_TYPE_1> <STUFF> <IMPORTANT_DELIMITER_TYPE_2> <STUFF>
    Even Nicer bunch of Words <STUFF> <IMPORTANT_DELIMITER_TYPE_1> <STUFF> <STUFF> <STUFF>
    Wonderful bunch of Words <STUFF> <STUFF> <STUFF><IMPORTANT_DELIMITER_TYPE_1><STUFF>
you want to break the lines along the delimiters:
Nice bunch of words <STUFF> <STUFF>
    <IMPORTANT_DELIMITER_TYPE_1> <STUFF>
    <IMPORTANT_DELIMITER_TYPE_2> <STUFF>
Even Nicer bunch of Words <STUFF>
    <IMPORTANT_DELIMITER_TYPE_1> <STUFF> <STUFF> <STUFF>
    Wonderful bunch of Words <STUFF> <STUFF> <STUFF>
    <IMPORTANT_DELIMITER_TYPE_1><STUFF>
and then you say that you want to replace the delimiters with the contents before the first angle bracket:
Nice bunch of words <STUFF> <STUFF>
    Nice bunch of words <STUFF>
    Nice bunch of words <STUFF>
Even Nicer bunch of Words <STUFF>
Even Nicer bunch of Words <STUFF> <STUFF> <STUFF>
    Wonderful bunch of Words <STUFF> <STUFF> <STUFF>
    Wonderful bunch of Words<STUFF>
but you have clearly made a distinction between the "nice bunch of words" and "<STUFF>", otherwise the output would have been
Nice bunch of words <STUFF> <STUFF>
    Nice bunch of words <STUFF> <STUFF> <STUFF>
So, do you want everything up to  the first delimiter, or do you want everything up to <STUFF> in the replacement? If you only want the "nicer words" then you need some way to distinguish between them and "stuff" programmatically.
    edit
Here's a trivial script that will split the lines along the delimiters and replace them with the contents of the line before the first delimiter:
    #!/usr/bin/env python3
    import re
    import sys
    def main(args=None):
    for line in sys.stdin:
    # Trim trailing newline.
    line = line.rstrip('\n')
    # Split by delimiters.
    parts = re.split(r'<[^>]+>', line)
    print(parts[0])
    for p in parts[1:]:
    print(parts[0] + p)
    if __name__ == '__main__':
    try:
    main()
    except (KeyboardInterrupt, BrokenPipeError):
    pass
    Usage
    path/to/script < /path/to/input file

  • Replace KMS server with same-named server

I need to replace my KMS server (win2008r2) with a new server (win2012r2), but with the original server’s name.
     This is my plan:
Shutdown the current KMS server and remove it from AD, WINS & DNS
Rename the new server with the old server’s name
I have already added the VAMT role to the win2k12 server, but not configured it
Install our KMS VL & run the office 2013 volume license pack on the new server
Does anyone see any problems with this plan?
Do I need to uninstall the KMS key from the original server first?
What kinds of issues will the users see before the 25 client activations happen?
     Thanks!

    This is fine.
KMS is resolved via a DNS Service record: _vlmcs._tcp.<domainname>
Whenever you are finished installing KMS on the new server, ensure the SRV record is correct.
NOTE: Remember the new KMS server will not start to activate clients until the thresholds are met.  (5 servers or 25 clients)

  • Terrance Devlin answered a question about iPhoto (4-2012) re:copying iPhoto Library to an ExHD, and losing all the albums. I can't locate the "Choose Library" when I open iPhoto with the opt button. Can anyone help?

I tried to move my images (over 25,000) to an External Hard drive to open up some memory, hoping to make my computer run faster. It took three hours to move the images and I see them all in the mac's menus. However when I try to open them with iPhoto now, none appeared. and when I tried to import them back to the main HD they come in to iPhoto just fine, but not with the albums nor any of the massive organization i'd created in the original. this represents years of images, and I can't imagine that I'd have to recopy them into folders/albums again.
Terrance Devlin answered a similar question back in April of last year. He said to make sure the ExHD is formatted to MAC OS Extended (Journaled) and to move the library to the ExHD and then open iPhoto with the option button and select "Choose Library" from the resulting menu.
Command "I" tells me that the new drive is formatted correctly. I can't locate the "Choose Library" when I open iPhoto with the opt button.
First, I wondered if the application needs to be on the same drive as the Library. I sure would like to know if I can find out how to restore all the folders I had them in. Terrance's advice helped the user that had asked the question.
Here's the url for that archived discussion: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3849933?start=0&tstart=0
Can anyone help? I'm using iPhoto 5. My MAC is an OS X version 10.4.11.
    thanks, brokenlom

    Here are Apple's instructions:
If you are using iPhoto ’06 or earlier, you will need to follow these steps to tell iPhoto where the Library is now located:
Hold down the Option key on the keyboard and open iPhoto. Keep the Option key held down until you are prompted to create or choose an iPhoto Library.
    Click Choose Library.
Locate and select the iPhoto Library in its new location.
    (from http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1229 )
Below (in the link below) is what you should see when holding down the option key and opening iPhoto. Keep holding down the option key until this dialogue comes up. You want to select the Choose Library button.

  • Labview 8 crashes when saving a vi with a 'Bundle By Name' function

We have a working vi (Get_AN_Fast.vi), created with Labview 7.1.
Trying to open this vi with Labview 8 crashes Labview.
Problem seems to be related to a 'Bundle by Name' function, but it is not that simple as using this function by itself wirks fine.
Any ideas would be a help.

Sorry for the delay, I have been testing on other machines.
We can reproduce the error on other machines, with completly fresh installs of Labview 8.
The ActiveX Object we are connecting to is our own COM server, for interfacing to USB based data acquisition devices.
I have found that when our COM server is not installed on a computer, then the VI will open, but with errors related the the missing COM Server.
When the COM Server is installed, Labview 8 crashes when opening the vi.
I realise that our COM server might have bugs, but it worked fine with Labview 6 and 7, and it is Labview 8 that gives the error, not our COM Server (which is a stand-alone executable).
I have attached a zip file with our COM server, it just needs to be unzipped to a temporary file, and then run the 'register.bat' file to register the server.
It will not install any other files on your computer and, can just be deleted when you are finished.
    Thanks
    Charlie.

  • Error 1073 when building LabVIEW app which calls LabVIEW dll

I am trying to use application builder to build an application that calls a dll created in LabVIEW. I get an error referencing a vi within the dll (Parse Stored String(multibyte).vi) saying that "This property is writable or this method is available only when the VI is in edit mode." The only option is to Continue which cancels the build. I had sucessfully built this application prior to including vis that call the dll and the program runs fine in the development environment.
Do you have any idea what is causing this and what I cam do about it?

I have found a temporary workaround in which I created a dummy dll that removed all functionality from exported vis but had the same name and function signatures. I then built the application using this dummy dll. Once complete, I replaced the dummy dll with the real dll.
This is not a satisfactory work around because we have to build and maintain two dlls. Also, I'm not sure we can do the same trick when creating the installer with application builder. So, I'd still appreciate any help you can give.

  • Is there a way to add to the existing values in a container when a LabVIEW prototype (cluster) changes?

Is there a way to add to the existing values in a container when a LabVIEW prototype (cluster) changes?
I have a cluster with 90 values..  ninety!  yes that many.
Change one bloody value and the prototype changes in the TestStand step...  Reload the prototype and guess what happens??!!??
All the bloody values get reset to defaults!  AAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!
If it was in one place, I could survive the ordeal.  But I have to change bloody prototypes in many places!!!!
    more AAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can't even copy the bloody values!!!!!!!  AAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Are there any tricks that I am not aware of, or have forgotten over the years, or...  ...   something??!!??!???!!
If there are none, I will have to post an improvement to TestStand..  I should mention I am using an older version (4.1).

    Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm,
I am not not very famous with LV and its cluster types.
So no idea if this works (it works for DataTypes updates very well and a LV cluster is Data Type so.... maybe)
Make a copy of the step that has to be modified to an new sequencefile.
Make modifications the in the copy.
Now you should have the same DataType Name but other contents in the container. Save it.
Normally there should be a message box that tells you that version has been incremented. - Accept it.
Set in StationOptions-File "Allow Automatic ...." to Never.
Open original sequencefile. Now the there must be a type conflict. Accept/Apply to all  "Use Current Loaded.."
    You have updated the type.....
    Hope this worked,

    Hello,
There are any number of possible causes to this problem. Which version of Test Executive are you using? Have you upgraded your Test Executive recently? The latest version is 5.1.1. If you have changed anything about Test Executive on your computer recently, I recommend you perform a mass compile of all your VI libraries, as having different versions of the VIs on your system could often result in the "Call to Step XYZ Failed" errors. Also, are you using any DAQ or Analysis VIs in your steps? We have seen problems where the use of DAQ or Analysis VIs in the sequence can cause intermittent "Call to Step...Failed" errors. There are some KnowledgeBase entries on our website that discuss this problem. Are you using the Test Executive in the VI environment, or
as an executable? Again, there are some problems with using Test Executive as an executable that result in these errors, and there are also KnowledgeBase entries that discuss these problems.
If you have a pared-down application that demonstrates the problem, feel free to send me your VIs and your .seq file and I will try to reproduce the problem.
Alternatively, I would suggest you visit www.ni.com/teststand to learn about TestStand, our state-of-the-art Test Sequencing software that completely outperforms Test Executive. It is very easy to use and much more powerful, and we have a top-notch support team available dedicated exclusively to supporting TestStand. As you are probably aware, we are no longer developing Test Executive, and instead are concentrating our efforts on making TestStand the penultimate solution for all our customers' test sequencing needs.
I appreciate your patience on this issue. Please let me know if I can offer further assistance.
    Have a pleasant weeken

  • LabVIEW 7.1 reports an application error 'instruction adresses memory at 0x00000000 - ... could not be written' when finishing LabVIEW, even when not running any private code

    Hi there,
I have found similar Qs here, but this one is _somehow_ different.
My quite large app (>600 VIs) uses some DLL calls to communicate with medical devices. It runs OK, AFAIK, even when started several times. BUT I get an error message each time I when finishing LabVIEW 7.1 (even when just having loaded the app!!!). The error message states that "The instruction at 0x778cca36 adresses memory at 0x00000000. The process 'written' could not be done on that memory. Click to close the app".
    Any clues?
My system: Athlon64 3000+ with 1GB of RAM running W2k German with all availabel SPs, LabVIEW 7.1 English with all support files from the devellopr suite May05 edition. System was set up 2 days ago on a fresh PC. The old system showed the very same behavior.
My opinion is, that simply loading an app and than removing it should not cause such an error??!!
    Greetings from Germany!

I can't look at your code because I don't have LV 7.1, but I would recommend searching on the side of the DLL.
Do you have the source for the DLL? Can you be sure that the DLL doesn't somehow have a memory addressing bug? The DLL will be loadsd as soon as the program is loaded AFAIK, so maybe when unloading the DLL an error occurs because something isn't initialised properly. I've never programmed a DLL, so I may be way wrong, but my instinct tells me that the problem will most likely be with the DLL.
    Hope this helps
    Shane.
