iPods, iPhones, and iPads aren't tied to one particular iTunes accout/Apple ID. So there are no special instructions to follow to allow you to sync it with your newer account. Simply sync it as you would your iPhone 4.

TDBI know this doesn't help you Bud, but I've had this issue for at least the last couple of versions. If I can ask, what is you enviornment like? Local PC only, libray saved on another PC/Server?
In my case my library is on Windows 2003 server with the share mapped to drive M: This has worked for many years through both XP and Windows 7 until and update a while ago.

I am trying to backup my iPhone. I get an error message that iTunes could not open a session with my iPhone.

I am not sure what generates the email address as a contact, be it the iPhone or iMac. I use iCloud to sync up my contacts/address book. This appears to happen when I am using Mac Mail on my iMac, but I have no clue where to begin to look to stop this auto addition. I have looked in Mail preferences on my iMac and in my iPhone settings, but have found nothing that "automatically add email address to contacts list".
Can anyone provide guidance? Web search has been fruitless ( I am guessing I am not using the right key words for my search).Hey jpoolewarren!

Although I have synced my ipad to only one PC computer I now get the message that it is synced to another computer and only one computer sync is permitted. I have lots of apps on the ipad and do not want to loose everything by starting fresh with the ipad. How can I get the ipad to again accept my computer and sync successfully?

Since iOS6, whenever I send an iMessage to my wife, it sends the message to me too. How do I stop this? My wife and I share the same email address.
On at least one of the phones, go to Settings/ Messages/ Send & Receive and then tap the e-mail address to turn that option off. That should force the iMessage to be sent to the unique phone numbers of the phones, not the e-mail address that is common between the phones.
Or alternatively, create a new e-mail address for one of you and select that as the e-mail option to receive at on one of the phones instead of the shared e-mail. -
I have an Iphone 3gs and cannot send text messages to my wife. She is the only person that I cannot send or receive text messages from. Does anyone know how to correct this?

You can change your iMessage Caller ID setting on iOS devices in Settings > Messages > Receive At > Caller ID. Note that the Caller ID setting is used only for new conversations. If you would like to change the address from which messages are sent, first change your Caller ID, and then delete the existing conversation and start a new one.
iMessage responses will be sent from the address the recipient most recently messaged. For example, on iPhone you can receive messages sent to your Apple ID and phone number. A friend sends you a message to your Apple ID. Responses in this conversation will be sent from your Apple ID, even if your Caller ID is set to your phone number. -
After updating my iphone 4 to IOS6.1 when I send a Text message to my spouses phone I also receive the same text message back on my phone How can I correct this?
I also cannot get myphoneto sync with itunes.This could be caused by using the same Apple ID for iMessage. If you are, to fix this you have two choices:
On one of the phones go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with a different ID. Note: you can still share the same ID for purchasing in Settings>iTunes & App Stores; or
On both phones go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and uncheck the email address(es) shown under "You can be reached by iMessage at". -
My husband and I both have an i phone. When I send him a message it also sends it back to my phone. The same happens when he messages me. His messages are also picked up on my i pad.How can we correct this?
Are you both using the same Apple ID?
Also check Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > make sure it only contains your unique phone number and e-mail address de-select those entries belonging to your husband.

Activate iMessage on both your phone and your iPad. Then send an iMessage to the email address you are using for iMessage on your iPad (which is shown in Settings>Messages>Receive At).
