Where clause in View Objects

Hi there,
What is the easiest way to pass a single input parameter from one page to many View Objects with WHERE clause in other pages?
Many thanks.
PeeVee

-When you edit (or create) your bind variable, in the dialog, 'Variable' tab, you have 'Value type' (two radio buttons) as 'Literal' or 'Expression'
Choose Expression, and set value as
adf.context.pageFlowScope.whateverAttr
So take value from pageFlowScope for example. Of course, in order to use that value, you must at first put some value to that scope, for example:
    ADFContext.getCurrent().getPageFlowScope().put("whateverAttr", someValue);
- where to I set adf.context.sessionScope.whateverSessionAttr MemberId value?-Just as you wrote:
SELECT ...
FROM ...
WHERE WHERE id =: boundedVariable
- How does WHERE id =: boundedVariable statement really look like. I seem to make it work. Syntax is validated, but the statement error out at run time

  • Group by, setting where clause in View Objects

    Hello,
    I have a problem with View Objects in BC4j. Cause I cannot use a column in the where clause of a view object that is not also an attribute of the view object, I am unable to group a statement as I want to. Is there a way to solve this problem?
    Thanks in advance!

    What version are you using..I tried a simple WHERE clause using an attribute which is not part of the VO and that works ok....

  • Modifying where clauses for View Objects in Backing Beans

    In studying the RichTable class I saw no get/set methods that would allow me to manipulate the underlying view instance and rowset for the table in the Backing Bean. I know there is a way to do it, but I having great difficulty in finding it. The tutorials show how to build view objects and display them, but I haven't seen a tutorial that show how to respond to events from the Web page and directly change the data model and what is displayed via the backing bean.
    Can some one point to a tutorial or give me an example on how I can change a view object via a backing bean?

    What you want to do is add a method to your View Object Implementation class that changes the WHERE clause with setWhereClause or addWhereClause. Expose the method to your client. Then call the method from your page by binding it to a commandButton or commandLink. You can bind it through a pageDef file or a backing bean.

  • ADF BC / parametrized where clause in view object

    Did something change is this area ?
    I testing using bind variables (as parameters) definition in my view object but i got this error during execution in the component browser
    (oracle.jbo.expr.JISyntaxError) Variable to_number not recognized
    Some of my variables are defined with default value as expression to_number( null ).

    The easiest way to set an entity attribute as the current date is to mark the attribute as a history attribute, and choose createdOn as the history type.
    If you want to use a groovy expression, you can use:
    DBTransaction.currentDbTime
    to reference the current database time.
    Or, the simplest way currently to reference the current JVM time in the correct format for an oracle.jbo.domain.Date to accept it as a default would be to create a class like:
    import java.sql.Timestamp;
    import oracle.jbo.domain.Date;
    public class ADF {
      public static Date getCurrentDate() {
        return new Date(Date.getCurrentDate());
      public static Date getCurrentDateWithTime() {
        return new Date(new Timestamp(System.currentTimeMillis()));
    }and then use the groovy expression:
    ADF.currentDate
    or
    ADF.currentDateWithTime
    of course you can do the same thing "in-line" in the Groovy string, but it is less terse.
    We're considering adding some built-in methods to make some common operations like this easy from Groovy, but they are not in there currently.

  • How to Set Distinct SQL Clause on View Object without using Expert Mode.

    Hi to all Actually i have a View Object usign 3 entities
    if i use expert mode in my VO, it generate
    QRSLT WHERE
    instruction and force to include all columns on my dynamic where clause on select statement i can't include columns because get me duplicate rows
    How i can include disctinct clause without usign expert mode or any other solution?
    Note that in normal mode without expert mode QRSLT WHERE is not generate and all work fine
    For example
    select * ( select id , name from table) QRSLT WHERE loc = ..
    if i use expert mode it generate QRSLT WHERE and if loc is not predicated colums get me and error :
    ( ORA-00904: invalid identifier )
    in simple mode of View Object all work fine..

  • How to control a WHERE CLAUSE

    I am converting our BO Universe to OBIEE. There exist in the Universe an object which select COUNT(DISTINCT inventory_item_id) and has a WHERE CLAUSE that gives a date range.
    Going to OBIEE, how can I apply this WHERE CLAUSE to the object only? I can't find a place where to set this up. What I found was the WHERE CLAUSE box in the content tab of the table source. I wouldn't like to place it here because this WHERE CLAUSE should only fire when this object is selected by the user in his report.
    I would appreciate your help very much.
    Thank you.

    Hi,
    I created a report filter instead and saved it. I noticed one thing when I tested this. It took a while for the report to be generated. Is there a way I could do improve on the performance? This is what I placed in the report filter:
    CURRENT_DATE >= IFNULL("- Price List Lines"."Item Start Date" , CURRENT_DATE ) AND CURRENT_DATE < IFNULL("- Price List Lines"."Item End Date", TIMESTAMPADD( SQL_TSI_DAY , CURRENT_DATE , 1))
    Thank you.

  • Deploy Server Datasource View Object

    Where does the View Object obtain its datasource when deploy on the OC4J server? My application works in Jdeveloper but when deployed to the server one ViewObject fail to connect to the database. Others ViewObjects in the same AppModule works except one. The one failed is because it is trying to connect to a database that does not exist in the server environment. The viewObject is trying to read the datasource configure in bc4j.cfg file but I want it to read the Application Server Datasource like the rest of the ViewObject.
    Please help.
    I'm using 10.2 Bc4J version.

    Hi,
    its not the View Object doing that. Select the Application Module in the Application Navigator. Use the right mouse button and choose "Configuration". Press the Edit button. This then shows you the setting of the ADF BC database connection. If this is set to JDBC URL then it is using its setting defined in the bc4j.xcfg. Otherwise it uses a Java EE data source and gives you the name it expects to be available on the target server

  • ADF BC View Objects: Disappearing where clauses

    Playing around with the 11g Technical Preview I find out that sometimes the where clauses - added to View Objects by means of the new "Join Type" field in the VO-editor UI - disappear.
    I'm not able to reproduce exactly and "on demand", but it seems to happen when the sources of more than one View Object are open simultaneously and/or the XML definition of a View Object is edited directly on the Source-tab.

    Today I succeeded in reproducing:
    Two tables:
    TAB_MASTER:
    ID NUMBER NOT NULL
    DESCRIPTION VARCHAR2 NOT NULL
    TAB_DETAIL:
    ID NUMBER NOT NULL
    MASTER_ID NUMBER NOT NULL
    DESCRIPTION VARCHAR2 NOT NULL
    TAB_DETAIL.MASTER_ID is a foreign key referencing TAB_MASTER.ID.
    Steps to reproduce:
    1. Generate default ADF BC objects from database tables.
    2. Open definition of TAB_DETAIL View Object.
    3. Go to the Entity Objects tab
    4. Add TAB_MASTER Entity Object to the Selected Entities Objects. Association and Join Type are filled in automatically.
    5. Go to the Query tab and go to SQL tab in de Property Inspector. Where clause is filled.
    6. Go to the Attributes tab and click Add from Entity...
    7. Add TAB_MASTER.DESCRIPTION attribute.
    8. Again, go to the Query tab and go to SQL tab in de Property Inspector. Where clause is still filled.
    9. Go to the Attributes tab and select MASTER_ID attribute.
    10. Click icon to add List Of Values
    11. In List Of Values dialog add View Object TAB_MASTER and add the correct pairs of List Return Values for the ID and (MASTER) DESCRIPTION attributes.
    12. After completing the List Of Values dialog go to the Query tab -> SQL tab again. The where clause added to join the Entity Objects (see step 5.) is cleared, resulting in a wrong SQL statement for the View Object.

  • JSP, Data Web Bean, BC4J: Setting the where clause of a View Object at run time

    Hi,
    I am trying to develop a data web bean in which the where clause of a View Object will be set at run time and the results of the query then displayed.
    My BC4J components are located in one project while the coding for the data web bean is in another project. I used the following code bu t it does not work. Could you please let me know what I am doing wrong?
    public void populateOSTable(int P_EmpId)
    String m_whereString = "EmpView.EMP_ID = " + P_EmpId;
    String m_OrderBy = "EmpView.EMP_NAME";
    oracle.jbo.ApplicationModule appModule = null;
    ViewObject vo = appModule.findApplicationModule("EMPBC.EMPAppModule").findViewObject("EMPBC.EMPView");
    vo.setWhereClause(m_whereString);
    vo.setOrderByClause(m_OrderBy);
    vo.executeQuery();
    vo.next();
    String empName numAttrs = vo.getAttribute(EmpName);
    System.out.println(empName);
    Thanks.

    Here is how I have usually done mine:
    1. In the JSP, use a RowsetNavigator bean to set the where clause and execute the query.
    2. Use a custom web bean to process the results of the query (print to HTML).
    for example:
    <jsp:useBean class="oracle.jbo.html.databeans.RowsetNavigator" id="rsn" scope="request" >
    <%
    // get the parameter from the find form
    String p = request.getParameter("p");
    String s = request.getParameter("s");
    // store the information for reference later
    session.putValue("p", p);
    session.putValue("s", s);
    // initialize the app module and view object
    rsn.initialize(application,session, request,response,out,"wt_bc_WT_bcModule.wtjoinView");
    // set the where clause string
    String theclause = "presname = '" + p + "' AND slideno=" + s;
    // set the where clause for the VO
    rsn.getRowSet().getViewObject().setWhereClause(theclause);
    rsn.getRowSet().getViewObject().executeQuery();
    rsn.getRowSet().first();
    %>
    </jsp:useBean>
    <jsp:useBean class="wt_bc.walkthruBean" id="wtb" scope="request" >
    <%
    // initialize the app module and VO
    wtb.initialize(application,session, request,response,out,"wt_bc_WT_bcModule.wtjoinView");
    wtb.render();
    %>
    In this case, the render method of my custom web bean mostly gets some session variables, and prints various content depending on the session variable values.
    Hope this helps.
    </jsp:useBean><HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
    Laura can you give the code of your walkthru bean? i wna't to initialize a viewobject, set the where clause and give that viewobject back to initialize my navigatorbar.

  • How To change the ADF View Object  query where-clause at RunTime?

    I am trying to create a simple display page which will display user data (username, assoc_dist_id, assoc_agent_id, status , etc). The User data is stored in a database table and i am using an ADF Read Only table based on the View Object to display the data on the JSF page.
    However, i want to display only the users that a particular person accessing the page has the AUTH LEVEL to see. e.g. If the person accessing the page is an 'ApplicationAdministrator' then the page should display all users in the table, If its a 'DistributorAdministrator' then the page should display only users associated with that Distributor (i.e. assoc_dist_id = :p_Dist_id ) and If its an 'AgentAdministrator' , then the page should display only users associated with that Agent ( i.e. assoc_agent_id = :p_Agent_id).
    Currently my af:table component displays all the users in the table because the query for the view object is (select * from users) . However, i want to use the same viewobject and just set the where-clause at runtime with the appropriate parameter to restrict the dataset returned.
    Do anyone knows how to accomplish this ?

    David,
    See the custom method initializeDynamicVariableDefaults() in the SRViewObjectImpl.java class in the FrameworkExtentions project in the SRDemoSampleADFBC sample application. You can find out how to install the demo if you haven't already from the ADF Learning Center at:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/adf/learnadf.html
    This class is a framework extension class for view objects that adds a neat, generic feature to be able to dynamic default the value of named bind variables. You can read more about what framework extension classes are and how to use them in Chapter 25, "Advanced Business Components Techniques" of the ADF Developer's Guide for Forms/4GL Developers, also available at the learning center above.
    It is an example of generic framework functionality that "kicks in" based on the presence of custom metadata properties on a named bind variable. See section 25.3.3 "Implementing Generic Functionality Driven by Custom Properties" in the dev guide for more details. Using this sample code, if you add a bind variable to a view object, and define a custom metadata property named "DynamicDefaultValue" on that bind variable, and set this custom metadata property to the value "CurrentUser", then that bind variable will have its value dynamically defaulted to the name of the authenticated user logged in. If instead you set this custom property to the value "UserRole", then the bind variable will be set to the comma-separated string containing the list of roles that the authenticated user is part of.
    Once you've created a framework extension class for view objects like this, you can have the view objects you create inherit this generic functionality.See section 25.1.4 "How to Base an ADF Component on a Framework Extension Class" in the dev guide for more info on this.
    By adapting a technique like this (or some idea similar that better suits your needs) you can have your view object query contain bind variables whose values automatically take on the defaults based on something in the user-session environment.

  • How to populate bind variable in view objects where clause in ADF faces

    I've got a page with 2 input items.
    The user manually enters the first value.
    On the second input item I have created a LOV for the item which opens in a popup. How do I restrict the data returned in the LOV using the value entered in the first input item. I have created a bind variable and have included it in the where clause for the view object but how do I populated it.

    Here is an example:
    Using the HR schema with the EMPLOYEES and DEPARTMENTS tables.
    Example is using ADF BC and created an EMPLOYEES entity with an updateable view object for page,
    and created a DEPARTMENTS view as a lookup
    (SQL: select department_id, department_name from departments where department_name = :DeptName)
    1: add method to the backing bean to filter the LOV
    public void getTextValueToFilterLOV(ValueChangeEvent valueChangeEvent) {
    Object value_from_form = valueChangeEvent.getNewValue();
    FacesContext fctx = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
    Application fapp = fctx.getApplication();
    JUFormBinding formBinding = (JUFormBinding)fapp.createValueBinding("#{bindings}").getValue(fctx);
    DCIteratorBinding dcBinding = (DCIteratorBinding)formBinding.get("DeptLOVIterator");
    ViewObject vo = dcBinding.getViewObject();
    vo.setNamedWhereClauseParam("DeptName",value_from_form);
    vo.executeQuery();
    2. add valueChangeListener to the inputText on the page with an id and autoSubmit="true"
    <af:inputText value="#{bindings.LastName.inputValue}" label="#{bindings.LastName.label}" binding="#{backing_DeptForm.inputText3}"
    id="inputText3"
    autoSubmit="true"
    valueChangeListener="#{backing_DeptForm.getTextValueToFilterLOV}">
    </af:inputText>
    3. reference the LOV with the id name on the partialTriggers property
    <af:selectOneChoice value="#{bindings.EmployeesUpdView1DepartmentId.inputValue}"
    label="#{bindings.EmployeesUpdView1DepartmentId.label}" binding="#{backing_DeptForm.selectOneChoice1}"
    id="selectOneChoice1"
    partialTriggers="inputText3">
    <f:selectItems value="#{bindings.EmployeesUpdView1DepartmentId.items}"
    binding="#{backing_DeptForm.selectItems1}"
    id="selectItems1"/>
    </af:selectOneChoice>
    Summary:
    When you entered a text (LastName), that value is passed into the backing bean method.
    The Bean method code will find the LOV Iterator and put the value into the bind variable.
    Cheers,
    Jim
