You can make it appear in the sidebar as it did in older versions of iTunes if you like. Just go to iTunes' menu and do View > Show Sidebar

On my registered iTunes computer, the following message appears every time one plugs in a device and refuses to load said device to be synced: "This iPod cannot be used because the Apple Mobile Device service is not started". Each device has been registered onto this account and this computer, and all have worked finely in the past. I am so confused as to why now seemingly without reason, none of our apple devices (one iPod, two iPhones) are allowed to have music and other material downloaded onto them. Also, as a side note, they still are charged by plugging them into the computer, however they do not even show up on the left-hand sidebar in iTunes.

The rental instruction article is not very clear without visual cues or elaboration. When and where does the confirmation message appear after renting a movie? Do I have to keep my Apple TV on while waiting for the confirmation? Also, my movie "top shelf," that the article refers to, is crowded with advertisements or movies with numbers under them (which I have not rented), depending on what the writer means by the "top shelf." Sheesh.

If the unit has NEVER been jailbroke, first try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless... Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. It could take well over an hour! Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here. You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again. Also, if you have IOS-7, read this. -
I used Article: HT2109 to transfer everything from my iPod touch 3g, iOS 5.1.1, to my iPod touch 5g, iOS 6.1.3. Why did data from apps NOT move to the new device? Games are starting over rather than picking up where they were on the old device?
- If you restored the 5G frmm the iTunes backup of the 3G were th app in the iTunes library of the computer you used? They have to be.
- If yes then try again. When I first restored my iPad 4 from the iTunes backup of my iPad 1 app data did not transfer. I tried again and it did. -
Hello- after updating to the new iTunes i got a box saying that i needed a new version of Apple Mobile Device Support and ihat i should uninstall iTunes and Apple Mobile Device Support then install iTunes again. (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
(4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:

with the Contacts and Calendar on my MacBook Pro. I DO NO sync from the cloud.
MacBook Pro is the master, and always wipe/replace from my mac.

I just installed itunes on a Windows 7 PC. When I click on the Itunes icon the following message appears -
The Itunes Library.itl file cannot be found or created. The default location for this file is in the "Itunes" folder in the "Music" folder.
I have checked and there is a file named Library.itl in the "Music" folder. I'm not sure where to go from here so any help would be greatly appreciated.See Empty/corrupt iTunes library after upgrade/crash.

I am having issues with streaming music from iTunes on my MacBook Pro to my audio system through AirPlay. Works perfectly with my iPod Touch. The AirPlay icon appears irregularly in iTunes and when selected doesn't connect. Running latest IOS software.
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

- Reset all settings

Two of our ipod touches won't connect to the home wifi. They have done before. All other apple devices connect fine. They can see the wifi devices, appear to try to connect (the circle whirls around) but connection doesn't complete. Ideas please?
I have 2 of them that only connected for a day and then reset network settings and they connected again for a day now resetting network settings does not fix it either. My iphone used to work with my home network but after upgrading to the latest OS which is the same versions as the ipods it no longer works either. Acts the same as the ipods. It would seem that the latest tweeks to the OS is the problem with wifi connectivity.
