i am trying to update itunes so that I can download to my new 4s phone. I get an error that i need to update my Mac currently 10.5.8 but any pf the updates I choose say I need 10.8. and I can't find that anywhere to download.

Phone the Apple Store, order a Mac OS X 10.6 DVD, run Software Update, and if desired, get Mountain Lion from the Mac App Store.

I am not doing it in ITunes, but i did down load the song from ITunes. I loaded the song on to my Nano, but in my menu selections it doesn't show the song or the artist in any search format. However, when i plug in my nano to my PC I see the Nano library on my PC drive listings and that song and artist are there. I can click on the song and it will play in Windows media on my work PC. I did notice that the format for most all the songs in my library on my Nano are MPEG - 4 audio Files.

If the page you linked does not work then it should so what happens when you try? It is possible that it might be a simple matter of you enabling cookies or trying another web browser.
You can also try to download the trial version of the software thru the page linked below and then use your current serial number to activate it.
Be sure to follow the steps outlined in the Note: Very Important Instructions section on the download pages at this site and have cookies enabled in your browser or else the download will not work properly.

Downloaded from where? E-mail? The internet? A digital camera?
Pictures from your digital camera are most likely in iPhoto.
Pictures from the internet will be wherever you set them to be saved. If you are unsure, let us know what browser you are using and I can tell you the default download location. Are you using Safari? Firefox? Something else?

to install windows you need to buy windows
there are many programs for making windows if on a disc into an iso
if you do not have an optical drive and windows on a disc then you likely have to use another computer to make it into an iso

I'm in the process of downloading ML so taht I can create a second bootable drive. Where does the ML download go to? I' ve looked several times throguh my downloads folder but I don't see it in there.

In the Applications folder.
You can make a backup or a bootable installer disk BEFORE you install ML: after the install the installer is gone.
Use Lion Diskmaker, works for ML too.

Where to click to download latest version of iTunes?

For the life of me I can't see where on the iTunes download page I can actually select to download iTunes.

It ought to be on the left side, with a button to click on to "Download iTunes".
If this entire left column doesn't seem to be appearing for you, this might be caused by antispyware software on your computer, or your firewall.
Try switching these internet security, firewall, etc. settings to OFF, then try and see if the download page for iTunes shows up properly (you might need to try refreshing your browser a couple of times).

I finally found it in the Content Portfolio.
I was including the "" in my search...like "Payer Direct". This way was just returning every one of the BPs.
But if I search on Payer Direct without the quotes around the term, then I get the result.
In my result, it does not say License Required. I get the download icon, and it says "The license for this package is included in the mySAP ERP (P) or the mySAP SRM (P) or the SAP Financial Supply Chain Management (P) or NW User (for R/3 Users)license."
But when I click on the download link, it does not work. I get a syntax error.

I have tried out the demo's for web start.
As I understand it, the applet is downloaded onto my computer before it is opened in the web browser. But I can't seem to find where the applet was downloaded. How does it know where to put the files? I thought it would first ask me whether and where on my computer I wanted to download it. So, how do I find where these classes are on my computer?

if you are using linux machine
then there would be a ".javaws" directory created in your home dir or the place where you installed jws. the down loaded files are kept in the cache dir under the .javaws dir.
if you are running on some other platform there would be something similar. you can start the javaws form command line go file/preference open the preference .. there you will see a tab named as 'advanced' on that tab you can see the dir location for - Application folder.
