Where is the jaxrpc-ri.xml file when auto-generating web services?
Is it possible to modify the targetNamespace property and endpoints directly from the SUN ONE studio 5 IDE??
We have upgraded from using the JWSDP and are using the studio tools to auto-generate the server artifacts, only we cannot modify the endpoints to match our old JWSDP jaxrpc-ri.xml file. I have no desire to auto-generate then manually edit all the *Serializer.java files.
Cheers,
Ben
Ben,
it should be somewhere in your jwsdp_base or jwsdp subdirectory in your user directory. The user directory is called studio5se_user unless you have decided to use something different.

Generate XML file from RFC using Web Services
Hi,
I am trying to save an RFC enabled Function Module output to an XML file using ABAP web services.
I could able to create Web Service and release it using WSCONFIG/WSADMIN. I can actually get the output in XML file when i launch the web service home page. But I need this to be done in the ABAP program itself. So If i run the RFC I could able to create,release web service and capture the Generated XML file by SOAP runtime.
Any FM available?
Thanks,
Ram Sanjeevwhich version of WAS you are on .
if you are on WAS6.40 check the following weblog on how to consume webservice using the wsdl file.
/people/thomas.jung3/blog/2004/11/17/bsp-a-developers-journal-part-xiv--consuming-webservices-with-abap
lower version of WAS use class cl_http_client.
if this case you have to manually build the soap message.

Got "Reponse is not well-formed XML" error when calling FormDataIntegration web service
Hi,
I'm using Windows Server 2008 + LiveCycle Server ES2 (Reader Extensions) + ASP.NET
This problem only happened when I run the ASP.NET program with the licensed version of the server, (which i installed form the CD provided)
However, there is no problem in my development environment with the trial version downloaded from Adobe website, the import data was successful and a correct PDF form can be returned.
My question is that whether there is a problem within the LiveCycle services? or there is missing component that needs to be installed?? Thanks
After call the importData of FormDataIntegration, I got below error

Accessing config information in XML file in a Weblogic web service (JWS)
Problem:
I have implemented a web service for sending emails and pages via Java Mail and SNPP respectively using WebLogic Workshop on the BEA WebLogic 8.1 platform. In the service, I use certain pieces of information that are currently stored in an XML file on disk. Also, in its current state, the web service is implemented with public methods directly in the .jws Java file and not as a session bean. The file read from disk is performed every time the web service operation to send a message is invoked. As we all know, the I/O files access is very expensive and a performance bottleneck, especially when it is incurred on every invocation of the web service ‘sendMessage’ [operation.
Without radically re-writing the application, I am looking for a way to improve the performance of the web service and can only come up with the following 2 ways:
1) Move the code out of the sendMessage operation: Here, the main question I have is 'to where should I move it to'? I have seen in the WebLogic Workshop documentation that WebLogic Server maintains only a single instance of a Java class that implements a Web Service operation, and each invoke of the Web Service uses this same instance. In that case, I should be able to put the code in the constructor so that the files is read only at the time the class is instantiated, but a constructor in the .jws file that contains the web service operations itself does not seem to be invoked by the container (I tried to put a breakpoint in the constructor, but it seems that the constructor code never gets called)
2) Move the configuration variables into some type of standard configuration file of WebLogic, something like web.xml or wlw-config.xml or jws-config.properties files. But I found that these XML files have an associated schema to conform to and do not provide any custom elements or attributes that I could add for my application(is that true?). Also, if I can somehow put the configuration information into any of these standard files, how do I access it from within the application 'without' doing a file read from disk? Are these configuration file items available in memory for access and use by the web service and if they are, what API can I use to access and use them?
Any and all ideas are welcome!
Thanks!I have been looking into a similar problem. Since web services are by design stateless, they aren't good for 'remembering' information between calls. Aside from a file read, the only other solution I have found is to use a database. You can make use of an entity bean or simply make some kind of JDBC call. I don't know if you need to stick with the config file, but if so maybe you could read the config data into a database once and then you might have faster access than reading from a file. I'm not sure about which would have better performace, but its all I have come up with so far. What parser are you using to read your XML file? Have you tried others to see if they have better performance?

Multiple Endpoints in Jaxrpc-ri.xml file
I'm trying to complete my first JAX-RPC app. I'm basing it on the dynamic proxy example in the JWSDP tutorial. I would like to be able to have multiple endpoints in the Jaxrpc-ri.xml file.
If I run wsdeploy with each of my endpoints individually, it works no problem. It's only when I try to put all the endpoints between the <webServices> tag that wsdeploy complains.
Any advice??
Thanks!
Derrickok, i've found the solution to this. If you are going to have multiple endpoints in your jaxrpc-ri.xml file you have to list ALL the endpoints and then the endpoint mappings
ie this won't work:
<endpoint name="endpoint1" ... />
<endpointMapping endpointName="endpoint1" ... />
<endpoint name="endpoint2" ... />
<endpointMapping endpointName="endpoint2" ... />
But this will:
<endpoint name="endpoint1" ... />
<endpoint name="endpoint2" ... />
<endpointMapping endpointName="endpoint1" ... />
<endpointMapping endpointName="endpoint2" ... />
Nice.

Leading ? xml version="1.0"? tag when creating / invoking web services
Hello friends. I'm wondering if anyone has any insight as to why I cannot create
a fully formed XML document when developing a web service which includes the standard
<? xml version="1.0" ?> leading tag.
If I include the leading tag in my XML mapping for a jws method, I am unable to
compile the service into an ear, getting the following error: "An unexpected
exception occurred while attempting to process the classes and annotations for
this Web Service." If I do not include the leading tag, I can compile into an
EAR file and invoke the web service from a HTTP POST, but I cannot include the
leading <?xml...> tag in my request. Considering that I'll be asking other vendors
to submit to my web services and creation of xml documents using DOM or other
methods automatically generates the <?xml ...>, I'm hoping I'm not going to have
to tell them to parse out this piece of the files they want to send me. Can anyone
help?
Thanks so much!
CMCM,
I suppose you have set 'http-xml=true' for this to work. For http-xml
protocol, there is no way to specify the leading <?xml> tag, and hence
unfortunately the desired functionality cannot be achieved.
In case, this is very important for you, could you please log a support
case, and then we can file a bug and ask the Engineering to look into it.
Thanks,
Anurag

Hi Anurag -
Thanks for the response. My problem is that I would like to be able tosubmit
straight XML (i.e., not SOAP) to a webservice from an application outsideof Weblogic.
For example, the following code block fails on submission to BEA:
* Example Simple Integration.
import java.io.*;
import java.net.*;
public class testBEAPost {
* Null constructor.
public testBEAPost () {
super();
* This method handles creation of a PeopleSoft XML Envelope, wrapping of
* user input into the envelope, submission of the message to theintegration
broker
* and display of the response message to the screen.
* @created 3.12.2003
* @param argv java.lang.String[] Standard user entry input
public static void main(String[] argv) {
try{
URL url;
URLConnection urlConn;
DataOutputStream printout;
DataInputStream input;
// Create the internal XML document which will be to send to BEA.(hardcoded)
>
String internalXMLDoc = "<? xml version=\"1.0\"?><newlocationxmlns:xsi=\"http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance\"><setid>WMS</setid><l
ocationid>1118UG0000</locationid><description>Electric
UndergroundLocation</description><exceptionemailaddress>[email protected]<
/exceptionemailaddress></newlocation>";
>
// Define the target URL.
url = newURL("http://167.75.117.20:7001/WebServices/PeopleSoftWebServices/NewLocation
Service.jws/createLocation");
>
// Open the Conection
urlConn = url.openConnection();
// Set necessary connection variables.
urlConn.setDoInput (true);
urlConn.setDoOutput (true);
urlConn.setUseCaches (false);
// Specify the content type.
urlConn.setRequestProperty("Content-Type", "text/xml");
// Send POST output.
printout = new DataOutputStream (urlConn.getOutputStream ());
printout.writeBytes (internalXMLDoc);
printout.flush ();
printout.close ();
// Get response data.
input = new DataInputStream (urlConn.getInputStream ());
String str;
while (null != ((str = input.readLine())))
System.out.println (str);
input.close ();
} catch (Exception e)
System.out.println(e);
If I run this program, I get a java.io.IOException with the serverreturning a
500 error code. However, if I strip out the leading <? xml version="1.0"?> tag
and submit to the web service, it works fine. My program set I createdthis example
for uses DOM to create the document, so I'm actually creating thedocument, getting
the String value of it, then parsing out the leading tag beforesubmission. My
problem is that soon I'll be dealing with third parties who may havetrouble generating
SOAP requests (don't ask), so I'd like to be able to tell them to generatesimple
XML documents to send to BEA if at all possible.
Can you assist? Thanks so much.

A SOAP message generated by a Workshop web service, when it acts as a
client
to another service, always contains the leading <?xml> tag. Here is a
sample
of a SOAP message generated by Workshop:
POST /TestImport/TestAny/TestAny.jws HTTP/1.0
User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; MS Web Services Client
Protocol 1.0.3705.0; BEA WLW 7.0)
SOAPAction: "http://www.openuri.org/hello2"
Host: localhost
Accept: text/html, image/gif, image/jpeg, *; q=.2, */*; q=.2
Connection: Keep-Alive
Content-Length: 398

<SOAP-ENV:Body>
<hello2 xmlns="http://www.openuri.org/">
<o></o>
</hello2>
</SOAP-ENV:Body>
</SOAP-ENV:Envelope>
It seems to me that what you are asking for is already there. Could you
please elaborate your issue further, probably with a sample of a XML
message
which you feel is not accepted by Workshop, but should be.
Thanks,

How To Debug XML Serialization Error while deploy web services
<b>My Scenario</b>
I've created a Java Projects with a Class. From there I convert it to Web Service by creating the virtual interface, the web services definition and the web service configuration. After that I deploy to the SAP WAS (SP11). At this instant I only try to deploy the web services with the intension to modify it later for GP to invoke.
<b>Result</b>
When deployment the Web Service I get an XML Deserialization error. Error text is below.
<b>Question</b>
How do I go about debugging this? What logs are good starting point? Can I capture the entire SOAP response message somehow?
Thanks

... 8 moreHi Paul..
This is a common problem when you are working with webservices, i have worked with them and not always the response of the ws comes like de wsdl says, depends of your wsdl provider.
I suggest you that checks your response of your webservice with the Enterprise Portal Web Services Checker View
For see this view in NetWeaver go to Window > Show View > Other > Enterprise Portal Web Services Checker
Put the wsdl url definition in wsdl url textbox
and the click in the letter W, this procedure brings you all methods and everything for play with the WEB Services.. and you can check the response of you webservices call funtion, checks that all the tags comes like says in the wsdl
Good luck

I can't open any documents from my son's iPad. Error message: the required index.xml file is missing. How do I fix this error so that I can open his Pages documents? Before I ran the latest update as prompted when I opened Pages, I WAS able to open and view the document.
I did try restoring Pages using my Time Machine, but it still won't open the Pages document.
I have a brand new iMac that I just set up last week.
Son uses iPad at school, so we update when the school asks him to update. Will doublecheck his version of Pages but it should be pretty recent.
In general I don't like using Pages because it lacks a lot of the backwards / forwards compatibilty of Microsoft Word.
However, it is what my son uses with the iPad.
Most of the time I have to export his files as WORD files because we never seem to have compatible versions of Pages between the iPad and the desktop iMacs.
Where can I recommend that Apple improve its compatibility issues with Pages?
This week I am going to receive a new iPad at my school (I am a teacher) but I am 100% certain that it will not be compatible with the older version of Pages on my classroom iMac. I also avoid using Keynote for the same reason. I have 15 year old Power Points that I can still open, but I am hesitant to switch over to Keynote because I want to be able to open my files any time, any where.
Please advise.Not sure what v5 is. Someone helped me and opened it through Pages 5.2, through the program, rather than the Finder. Thanks for making a suggestion!

How is the Login-validation.xml file is called when we do the validation i
Hi ^^,
please forgive me if I am a big long while explaining.
when you are using the struts 2.0 the web.xml has a welcome-file-list. I have put index.html in that list so it pulls up first.
It has the following tag
<ul>
<li><a href="roseindia/showLoginClientSideValidation.action">Login Application (Client Side Validation)</a></li>
</ul>so this maps to struts.xml which contains the showLoginClientSideValidation.action tag
<action name="showLoginClientSideValidation">
<result>/pages/loginClientSideValidation.jsp</result>
</action>
<action name="doLoginClientSideValidation" class="net.roseindia.Login">
<result name="input">/pages/loginClientSideValidation.jsp</result>
<result name="error">/pages/loginClientSideValidation.jsp</result>
<result>/pages/Loginsuccess.jsp</result>
</action>
this displays the jsp "loginClientSideValidation.jsp"
once you enter the details in the jsp and click submit the control goes to Login.java file as per the mapping in struts.xml given above
This is just a simple java file which contains the execute() method. This method returns success or error.
If success is returned then the Loginsuccess.jsp is invoked
If error is returned then the loginClientSideValidation.jsp is invoked
Well so far so good
I have also understood that to use client side validation you use validate = "true" in loginClientSideValidation.jsp
However what I am not able to understand is how the Login-validation.xml file is being invoked
Any help would be highly appreciated.
thanks and regards,Hi ^^^,
i found something interesting that I want to share
Validation rules are handled by validators, which must be registered with the ValidatorFactory (using the registerValidator method). The simplest way to do so is to add a file name validators.xml in the root of the classpath (/WEB-INF/classes) that declares all the validators you intend to use.
validators.xml if being defined should be available in the classpath. However this is not necessary, if no custom validator is needed. Webwork will automatically picked up a predefined sets of validators defined in com/opensymphony/xwork/validator/validators/default.xml packaged together in xwork jar file that comes with webwork distribution.
So this is clear that the validators are defined in validators.xml or default.xml
What is still not clear is how is the Login-validation.xml being called by jsp page to do verification and then linking to validators.xml to apply the rules.
However people have been telling me that ----" Struts 2.0 have inbuilt functionalities to validate the Parameters" and that i need to
"Define configuration file *-validation.xml or use annotations
i) className-validation.xml
ii) place this file in the directory where .class file is placed example.Login should have Login-validation.xml
Do you all think is this sufficient for an answer or should my search go on?
thanks and regards,
Prashant

I saved docs from a iMac to a flashdrive but when I plug the flashdrive into an iBookG4 and try to open the docs on the flashdrive, I get this message: Doc 2 cannot be opened. The required index.xml file is missing. Does this mean that I can't use the info on the flashdrive with the iBookG4 or can I do something to get the required index.xml file?
Thanks
jtIt appears if you write the document with newer version Pages and try to open it older version Pages.

When I try to open a file I created in Pages, I get this: "The required index.xml file is missing."
This has happened many times and I have forgotten how I've worked around it.That is wrong advice and you appear to have repeated it all over the forum.
All Pages files no matter what version have the same file extension, .pages, despite being radically different formats and that is the problem. The System does not distinguish between them when you double click on the file, it opens the first version of Pages it encounters.
You need to right click on the file and choose the correct App version for the file. Unfortunately there are no clues to tell you which is which.
If you are unhappy with this and the removal of over 100 features plus the problems with transmitting files across devices, servers and different versions of OS X, rate/review Pages 5.5.2 in the App Store.

When I try to open some very important files I ge a popup that says "Important" couldn't be opened. The required index.xml file is missing. What do I do to get this file open?
You are trying to open a Pages 5 file with Pages '09.
Pages 5 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09 is in your Applications/iWork folder.

XML Publisher does not create a valid XML file when I try to 'generate '
I am working through an Oracle document that walks you through creating an XML Pub report. I am using HCM 8.9, Tools 8.49.15 and it has XML Pub installed and I have the Microsoft plug-in installed
I have created a query and have downloaded an rtf template and now am on a page where you enter your data source and then click ‘Generate’ for the sample data file. I did it and it created ‘PERSONAL_DATA_PAY.XML’ which is created from a PS Query. However if I click on ‘PERSONAL_DATA_PAY.XML’ it generates a blocky text file that is not an XML file and I can’t go any further.
Do you know why it’s not generating a valid XML file when I click on 'generate'?
Thanks

I am using JWSDP 2.0 with JDK 1.5. I have developed an ant script for building my web service files. When the script runs, the command line arguments are passed to the wscompile:
wscompile -d C:\WorkSpaceForMyEclipse\WebService\WebContent\WEB-INF\classes "-features:rpcliteral, wsi" -g -import -keep -nd C:\WorkSpaceForMyEclipse\WebService\descriptors -s C:\WorkSpaceForMyEclipse\WebService\JavaSource -verbose -Xprintstacktrace -Xserializable C:\WorkSpaceForMyEclipse\WebService\WebContent\WEB-INF\wsdl\webservice-config.xml -classpath <all the jar files from jwsdp project> <project jars>This all works well and good.
My problem is I am not seeing a jaxrpc-mapping.xml file being created.
When I add the mapping=${path}/jaxrpc-mapping.xml to the ant task, the builds break saying -mapping is not an option for wscompile....
Am I doing something wrong? Can some guide me in the right direction for creating the mapping file? When I try axis, the mapping file is created, but it is not populated with any mappings. All I want for Christ is my jaxrpc-mapping.xml file. :-)
Thanks in advance for reading my post. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
RussIf you are using rpc/literal and jdk 1.5, you would be better off using JAX-WS which does not require a mapping file. JAX-WS is the next generation Web services API that replaces JAX-RPC. Check out http://jax-ws.dev.java.net.
