Envelop Orientation Officejet Pro 8500 Word 2007

When printing envelopes, the printer prints as if the envelope is fed upside down from the right. The mechanical setting is only upsidedown from the center. The Word deault is upside down right. But when I change the Word setting to upside down center, it still prints upside down right.
Any suggestions?

Hello hankjames, and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you're having issues printing on envelopes. I would love to try and help you, but I do need a little information first. I am linking a few HP Support documents below that will show you how to find your product number. Also, please include which operating system you are using. Also, if you're using Windows, please include whether your operating system is 32-bit or 64-bit. With this information and the product number we can provide you with accurate information.
How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
Mac OS X: How Do I Find Which Mac OS X Version Is on My Computer?
Which Windows operating system am I running?
Is the Windows Version on My Computer 32-bit or 64-bit?
In the meantime, I would suggest printing the envelopes from a different program to see if it gives you a different outcome.
Good luck and please let me know the results of your findings. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!

This is done with your software that you have to print the envelopes.   MS Word can do this, just use their help facility.

  • Envelope Feeder for HP Officejet Pro 8500

Does HP (or anyone) make an envelope feeder for the HP Officejet Pro 8500?

HP's drivers for that model are only supported for Tiger and Leopard. If you want to use the printer you will need to upgrade your OS X system.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500 A910, 2 sections different paper size, prints incorectly

I have an HP Officejet Pro 8500 A910.
My Word document has 2 pages in 2 sections the first page and section is an envelope and the second page is a letter.   On the 8500, if I choose to print just the 2nd page (the letter) it uses the envelope paper size and print half the width. Tried Word 2003/2007/2010 same thing.
This prints fine on an BusinessJet pro2230

    Hi monkplayer,
It looks like your problem is solved? There wasn't a problem with the printer itself, just the printer settings on your Mac?
This is good information though. We don't always have detailed solutions for customers that are using Safari, since it is hard to write instructions for the general public with specific steps for each operating system.
    Best of luck,

  • Epson Workforce 500 and HP  OfficeJet Pro 8500 - "Printer Offline"

This week I downloaded an Epson printer driver update from Apple's Software Update. I use an Epson Workforce 500 with my Mac Mini computer at my office. Since installing Snow Leopard originally I had experienced no problems with the printer but assumed that if Apple was telling me to install a driver update, I should do so. Big mistake!
After installing the driver update I was unable to print anything. When attempting to print a page from Safari or MIcrosoft Word, everything initially seemed ok, until I saw my printer icon bouncing in the Dock with a yellow symbol indicating "Printer Offline." After searching the Apple site and various discussion boards I spent an entire afternoon attempting all of the recommended fixes with no results. Since I cannot operate my business without a printer, I decided to simply purchase a new printer hoping that this was simply an Epson problem.
I am now the proud owner of an HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 Premier All-in-One. Unfortunately I am still suffering from the "Printer Offline" message whenever I attempt to print anything. After spending another afternoon on the phone with a tech support person from HP, I am still unable to print. I have done all of the following:
Disconnected and reconnected all cables between the computer and the printer.
Switched the USB cable to a different USB port on the computer.
Restarted the computer and the printer.
Unplugged and replugged the computer to reset it.
Checked to confirm that the printer does show up under USB on the System Profiler.
Deleted any old print jobs in the print queue and made certain that the printer was not in pause mode.
Tried to print from various programs with the same result.
Although this printer does appear in the printer list, deleted it and then added it again under the Printer and Fax area of System Preferences.
Uninstalled the HP printer driver, restarted the computer, downloaded HP's latest driver for this computer from their website under the instruction of HP's tech support person and reinstalled this driver and again performing all of the above.
    Repaired disk permissions several times.
Reset the printing system under the Printer and Fax area of System Preferences.
I have been unable to find any further possible fixes in any of the discussion boards either on the Apple or the HP site. After doing everything listed here the HP tech support person felt that the problem must be with Apple rather than HP since the problem developed initially after the Epson printer update and then occurred with both the Epson and the HP printers.
I have an appointment later today with an Apple Genius at my local Apple store to see if I can get any advice. Any suggestions from anyone on this board would be greatly appreciated since I do need my printer to carry on in my business. At this point I am desperate to the point of considering the replacement of my computer but am hesitant to do so suspecting that the new models should be released soon.

HI and Welcome to Apple Discussions...
Try downloading and installing the 10.6.1 combo update. It's OK to do this even though you are already running 10.6.1. One of the "fixes" .. "some printer compatibility drivers not appearing properly in the add printer browser"
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL930
Make sure and repair disk permissions after the installation.
Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.
Always make sure your Mac has sufficient disk space available.
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. *Make sure you always have a minimum of 10% to 15% free disk space at all times.*

  • Printer keeps printing (HP Officejet pro 8500 A909g)

I'm currently running a HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 A909g wireless all-in-one printer off a wireless network - my laptop running Vista Basic.
My printer has started the Christmas season by printing the document I send to it repeatedly... whether this is a windows problem or something specific to the printer I don't know - has anyone come across this before?
There are no error messages on the printer, it's just happily printing page after page... (until I kill it in the print dialogue).  Advice appreciated! :-)

I am having this very same problem and have been chasing it since August.  Here are some of the characteristics I have notices:
    - I have several machines attached to this printer.  All of them using the wireless connection.  It only happens in Windows Vista (Home premium in my case).  All my windows machines do not have this problem at all
    - No multiple copies option has been setup
    - Seems to happen with Windows Office applications (Word, ppt, publisher), Internet Explorer, and .pdf files.  In the windows office, my word and power point are version 2002 SP3.  Publisher is version 2003.
    - I have installed, deleted, re-installed drivers several times with no luck
    - I uses A909n (8500 premier)
    - Files might or might not reproduce the problem.  I can print the file and it will give me multiple copies.  I can then close and immediately open and print and I will not get multiple copies
    - In my case the number of copies seems random.  Usually in the 6-12 copies range
How do I live with this?  Well it annoys me, but when I print if I notice that I am getting multiple copies, I go to the printer queue on Windows and delete the job.  Since my main computer is XP, the problem is not so huge, but my wife's computer is one of the vista computers and she likes to abuse her "IT guy" (me).  So it is certainly an annoyance.  I am convinced it is the printer driver, but I cannot prove it.
Anything you want me to try, I would be willing to (except re-install windows... I ain't doing that for a printer).

  • Cannot start HP Printing Software (HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 A910a)

    Hello,
When I doubleclick on the HP Software icon on my desktop strange behavior results. Nothing opens and my computer behaves erratically. After quite a while I get the following error messages:
    instancefinderdlg.exe
    werfault.exe
Then, after this - my computer sort of reboots all by itself. But not a full reboot - it just goes back to the initial logon screen and I re-enter my Windows password, and the desktop shows.
I am running Windows 8.1 Pro (64 bit). The printer is set up to operate wirelessly.
After doubleclicking on the HP Software icon and waiting a long time for the software to open, as I mentioned above, one thing I tried was a ctrl-alt-del and opened Task Manager. I checked the services running and there was multiple instances of an HP service running (I don't recall the name but there seemed to be dozens of the same HP service running).
I also completely uninstalled all HP software using Revo Uninstaller, and then re-installed the complete software / driver package for the OfficeJet Pro 8500 A910a - but this did not make any difference; exactly the same problems ocurred again.
This has only happened in recent days. Prior to this I was able to doubleclick on the HP software icon and the software opened normally and I was able to check settings, ink levels, etc. Interestingly, the printer still seems to function well - I can print from Word, print photos from Lightroom, etc. I just can't open the HP Printer Software from my desktop.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
    This question was solved.

    Hello again,
I tried the first part but it did not work.
However, the second more detailed part (with the 9 steps), appears to have worked! I now can double-click on the HP Printer icon and everthing functions as it used to previously.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you very, very much! You have been very patient with me as a customer and very persistent and determined to find a solution. Over the course of several days you suggested various possible solutions. When something did not work, you did not give up but continued to search for a solution. You really are a very fine example of what customer service should be. You deserve a big raise! Thanks again.

  • How can I Send a fax directly with HP Officejet Pro 8500

    Hello
I have a printer of the type
    hp officejet 7100 series
When I want to send a fax directly, a text document, for example, type it on the printer
    hp officejet 7100 series fax
And converts it to a fax machine directly.
Now I buy a new printer
HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909g Series
I want to do the same work.
But there is no print on the fax.
I had to I do a print of the file manually and then sent through the printer
I want to resolve the issue
    Send a fax directly

Just to make sure, this is how the process of faxing from Word is supposed to work, in general terms:
    1
Create and save a Word document. You'll need a saved file on your computer before you're able to fax it.
    2
In Microsoft Word, you can use the Fax Wizard to fax your Word document if you have Word and an Internet connection capable of doing so.
    3
Click "File," then "Send To," then "Fax Recipient." This should open up a Fax Wizard window separate from the window of the document.
    4
Follow the onscreen instructions of the Fax Wizard. If your computer is not capable of sending faxes, the Wizard will indicate this.
    5
Enter the file, recipients' names and numbers and information from your coversheet. Click "Finish" at the bottom of the window.
    6
If your computer is for some reason not capable of using the Microsoft Fax Wizard, you'll need to download a different Internet fax program from the Web.

  • Officejet Pro 8500 A910 Not Printing & Heads won't clean.

I have an HP Officejet Pro 8500 A910. It has not been used for about 2 months until yesterday, but was left powered on. The Black, Yellow and Cyan carts were getting a bit low and my wife want to print a few dozen pages of black text. I had a HP 940 Black cart to hand so I replaced it. She printed about 2 dozen Word pages in draft format which uses less ink. They printed OK, but when she went to print more, the print got fainter with each page until they were coming out of the printer totally blank then when the cyan ran out the printer stopped printing blank pages all together. I installed new HP Cyan and Yellow carts, but the printer continued to spit out blank pages. I printed a Quality Diagnostic Page and it showed one column of blocks in Test Pattern 2 missing completely and some white streaks in at least one of the colored blocks. At this point the Ink cart levels were K=90, Y=90, M=50, C=90. The Print Head Health was KY=Good, MC=Good. At this point I ran an Alignment and the report showed all colors except Cyan which was completely missing. I had remembered from a few year ago, that this is one simple way to show if color heads were not printing. I then performed 3 successive level 1, 2 and 3 cleanings, and each time the cleaning report showed less color until only faint yellow showed on the printout. Also the alignment now only shows faint traces of yellow.  I suspect the heads need to be either replaced or removed and cleaned manually. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks very much in advance. Peter B.

Hey , Welcome to the HP forums! I hope you enjoy your stay here. I see that you are having some issues with printing from your Officejet 8500A. I can help with that. This document outlines how to troubleshoot print quality issues with your printer. • Printer problems with Officejet Pro 8500 A910

    Dear all,
I have been given as a present an Officejet Pro 8500 A910 (serie number CN16LDM020 and product number CM756A). The people whom I have got it from already had some problems with the printer heads. I have accepted the printer, because I want to have it working again. I do encounter some problems however. I hope you kind people on the forum can help me out and get this thing working again. As a side note: I am only interested in using the scanner, printer (only black and white - I do not print in colour) and e-printing (I understand that it is possible to email documents to printer, so that they are printed whilst you are somewhere else).
Upon installation I have conneted the internet to my wi-fi. Upon installation it made some test prints, whereby the black dots were good, but the cyan and other colours were not. When I now turn off the installed printer and switch it on again it takes the printer about 5 - 7 minutes to initialize. On the touch screen of the printer it is said "Checking printer, this might take 5 minutes", "Checking printheads", "Aligning printheads" and alike notifications. After 5 - 7 minutes the printer gives the following notification: " Failure notice. Alignment failed. Refer to device documentation for details." When I then push the question mark on the touch screen the following notidication is given: " Alignment failed. Check printer quality of the current print job. If it is not satisfactory, try aligning the printer to see if that improves the quality. To align the printhead again, touch (home), touch (arrow right), touch Tools, and then touch Align Printhead." When I follow these instructions, the same thing happens. I have tried the option "Clean printheads" under "Tools". The test prints that come out are again good in black and white and not good in colour.
The ink level of the cartridges is very low for Yellow, Magenta and Cyan. For Black the printer gives a question mark. The expiry date of the cartridges is in 2015. The information on the Self Test Diagnostic Page (you get when you print a report from checking the ink cartridges) gives the following status:
    Printhead status
Printhead health: Good (for both Black/Yellow and Magenta/Cyan)
    Serial: 7735960 (Black/Yellow) and 7744345 (Magenta/Cyan)
    End of warranty: mid-2013
Accumulated ink usage (ml): Black 99/Yellow 71, Magenta 57/Cyan 58
    Refilled supply:
Detected in printhead/printer? For all cartidges "yes".
When I try to print a document from Word on my MacBook (which runs on Mac OS X 10.6.8) and the printer is on stand-by, Word recognizes the printer, starts with the print order but then comes with the notifications "Printer offline" and "Cannot find printer" and postpones the print order. Today I reset the printer and the print job that I had before the reset (which was postponed) came out.
Today, I printed a document whilst the printer was not on stand-by (the touch screen was on home menu) and the print was well (it was only black and white). After the print, the printer also made a print report. Again, the colour was bad, but black ink was good. After that print report, the printer started aligning again. After 5 minutes it gave the above-mentioned failure notice (" Failure notice. Alignment failed. Refer to device documentation for details.").
I would assume that the first thing that I should do is get new cartridges. However, since I only print black and white, can't I just buy the Black Ink and disable the other cartridges? Then, I am thinking of not buying HP cartridges (since the warranty term is already over). What cartridges do you reccomend (price-quality)? If  new cartridges are installed (previous owner had same problems with full cartridges) and the problems (with print heads) are not solved, what should I do?
On a second note, I want to use the option of printing online. In other words, give a print order on my Iphone to the printer so that it starts printing at home. How do I set this up? How can I test this?
I would be very obliged with your feedback on the above.
    Kind regards,
    Onno

    Hey Onno,
I see you have several items listed about your Officejet Pro 8500a (A910 series) printer.  The main issue that stands out is the print quality issue.  I would advise starting here with your printer.
From your information I can see that refill or remanufacture cartridges have been used in this printer at some point.  It is possible that the ink from these cartridges have damaged the internal ink system of the printer.  If you have performed all the troubleshooting steps for the print quality issue you are experiencing, then the next step is going to be replacing the printheads of the unit.
    Troubleshooting Print Quality Issues
The 8500a requires all cartridges be available even if you are simply printing in B&W.  If the cartridges are low, then you will have to replace the cartridges as needed.  Typically by the design of this printer, however, print quality issues do not follow ink levels in the cartridges as ink is piped to the internal printheads, thus even with empty cartridges there is some ink remaining in the system.
The printheads for the 8500a can be found at most HP certified retailers if you decide to attempt replacing them as a step towards resolving the issue.  As to the cartridges, I would advise using genuine HP cartridges as HP ink is designed with HP printers in mind.  For information about refilled/remanufactured cartridges please click here.
Hope this helps in getting the print quality issue alleviated,
    Jason

  • Officejet Pro 8500 Premier: How do I force the Copy function to use paper from Tray 2?

I set the default tray to Tray 2 and locked Tray 1 to protect my envelopes and this works fine when printing from the computer. But when I copy a document using the START COPY button, the printer pulls from Tray 1 and complains about the media being the wrong size.
When I use the printers control panel to set the Copy function to use Tray 2, it resets itself to Tray 1 the next time I copy something.
Surely I am not the only one in the Universe who would want to configure my printer to do this.
Has anyone else out there tried this?
Also, is there a specific forum for the Officejet Pro 8500 series printers?

    Hi
    Hope you're still checking this
I had the same problem but found that if you go to the copy menu through the touchscreen, change the tray to tray 2 and then scroll to the very bottom there is an option to "Set as new default". This also changes the default for the Start Copy buttons - at least it did for me anyway.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500 a910 giving incorrect ink cartridge errors !!!!!!!

    Hi,
My mom got an Officejet Pro 8500 a910 and it worked fine for a year approx.
Sbe got a 'replace cyan cartridge' error and bought the 3 pack (magenta, cyan, yellow) and replaced all 3 at once.
It printed 2 pages and now resumes with the 'replace cyan cartridge' error.  I have triple checked that they are all new and full but the HP device app will not print.  I have rebooted printer, computer, cleared the print queue.
    This is ridiculously frustrating.
Is there a way to just tell the printer to ignore the error warnings?  It does say the Black ink is full and will not even print a word document.  This is ridiculous.
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Constant Printing Restart on a networked HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909N Series printer

    Hello,
I'm curious if anyone has run into this problem before.  I have a HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909n Series printer that I have setup as a network printer.  This has been accomplished through a print server.
I installed the printer's drivers based upon the cd that came with the printer, in the box.
The problem is that whenever a user prints, say it's a simply one page document... the printer will repeatedly print that single page until it runs out of paper.  I have stopped/restarted the print spooler.  I've rebooted the printer and the print server.  I have deleted the drivers and readded them.  I've tried installing drivers from HP's website and then installing those.  I have attempted to delete the printer from the server and start from scratch.
When I monitor the print queue, I can see the service restart after each document prints.  I can't figure out how to get this to stop.
Does anyone have a suggestion; or has anyone run into this problem?  I'm not sure which forum to put this in.  I chose the Networks/Wireless forum, even though this is running on a wired network with wireless disabled.
    I certainly appreciate any asistance.
    -Craig

It ended up being an issue with the port.  I had used the same port as the last HP printer that I replaced.  This printer needs to run on a TCP/IP port, and not an HP port.
    Problem solved.
Oh, and it was wired, with wireless disabled.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909a won't let computer boot up

I have an Officejet Pro 8500 A909a series connected to my HP computer running Windows XP Home. It was
working perfectly. Now it won't let the computer boot while it's connected to the computer. I can unplug the
USB cable from the computer and it boots fine. I can then plug the USB back in and the printer prints fine. I
ruled out bad USB ports as everything else USB works fine in the same ports. I put a brand new cable on and
had same results. I rebooted the printer and computer, with same results. I uninstalled the printer and drivers and
reintsalled with same results. Computer freezes at the screen where it askes you to use the up and down arrows
to select OS or wait for it to count down to 0. With printer unplugged it boots perfectly. This just started about
4 days ago. New printer. HP Support was at a loss when I did the live chat. Can anyone help?
Message Edited by ComSource on 06-15-2009 07:14 AM

    Hi,
The problem seems to lie in the installer, which has an unusual bad behaviour.  The installer puts the 8500 a909a in the list of USB  bootable devices.  (Not good!!!)
When the printer is disconnected it isn't a problem.  When the printer is connected the computer tries to boot from the printer and the computer hangs.
When I found the printer in the BIOS list of USB bootable devices I DISABLED that item in that list. Then it booted normally.
But now the BIOS takes an extra 30 seconds or so but boot up seems to be preceeding normally.
The guys on the CHAT and PHONE lines didn't even imagine the installer might be a problem so their advice was useless. They were blaming the computer.  More importanly, they didn't have a way to escalate the problem. They  had no capacity to respond in a flexible manner. It was like dealing with unhelpful staff in the county clerk's office.
