Where's the Applet Launcher in 10.4 ?

i installed 10.4 today, wiped the disk clean first
i notice there's no applet launcher but there is Java Web Start, as far as i can tell it's the replacement for Applet Launcher ? well i cant get it lo launch anything
sea monkey downloads the applet i'm interested in and it executes it so slowly now, it takes forever to start up
so what now ? i am to paste the applet page URL into Web Start Add Entry window ? if i do so and look in organize entry the URL is where an Entry Name is expected and Entry URL still contains the Java Web Start intro URL, well at least the remove button works i can get rid of the mangled mess
theoretically if it did work am i then supposed to click on Download Application to get the applet to download into Web Start
call me what you will but this seems to be a nonworking "feature" and the Web Start apple page doesnt help any either
what is it with apple ? and always having to muck with disk repairs and permissions before and after updates ? it all seems ridiculous that they cant come up with a cleaner installation process
anyway thanks for any help

ok ok
if found it in the XCode install, didnt do that originally because my old powerbook's disk would be practically maxed out by the developer code
applet launcher use to be in the utilities/java dirs in the past though but i thought i'd look for it on the xcode install
but Web Start still seems to hav eth eproblems i discussed earlier

  • How to add scroll function in  the applet launched by  Java Web Start?

    I have Java Web Start installed in order for the applet to launch.The applet size: width:700 height:1000

    the applet launched by Java Web Start can only be seen partly,especially height.How to add scroll function in the applet launched by Java Web Start?
    Thanks for help.
    email:[email protected]

    You can very easily add a JScrollPane manually between the Applet and your content. Perhaps it would be beter if javaws did this automatically. In the browser, an applet can be any size. In Java Web Start an applet is directly contained within a JFrame, so it cannot be smaller than the minimum size of a JFrame, or Larger than the max.

  • Where is the Applet JAR file?

    When an Applet (the JAR) is downloaded to the local PC, exactly where (the directory) we can locate the Applet JAR file? Is the file managed by the Internet browser?

    This has got to be browser-specific.
    You shouldn't write code that depends on this kind of information anyway.

  • Where are the console launcher profiles saved (x-fi)

    Everytime i install new drivers, all my equalizer settings get erased. and i have equalizer profiles for each band..
    does anynone know where these are stored on win7 64bit, or any OS. I kind of want to back them up
    thx in advance for any help

    Since this was a question I had too, and Google brought it up as the 1st hit for the search parameter "creative console launcher where equalizer settings saved", I thought I'd post the answer for future reference.
    Using Win 7 Pro x64
    Look here:
    C:\ProgramData\Creative\CADI\Preset
    For this data file:
    PCI_BUS1102-5-2C1102-EC00U{1}.PCI+VEN_1102&DEV_0005&SUBSYS_002C1102&REV _00+4&1B00B4D9&0&484.dat
    I found that when I created a test preset called EQ Test, saved it, and then exited CCL, the Date Modified stamp changed to the current date and time.
    That's more than likely the file to backup so you don't have to re-enter EQ settings. Like a lot of you, this issue has been driving me nuts when you have something tweaked just right. Creative Labs UI developers need to think a little harder when creating these types of programs.

  • Where shouold I find jvm.h used for the native launcher compile?

    I examined the source in src.zip to try to compile the native launcher and to better understand how some of the new features of Java 6 were implemented.
    It includes a reference to jvm.h, but I have not located what I can be sure is the proper copy.
    One copy I found contained a reference to jvm_md.h also referenced but I could not locate a reliable copy of that.
    Where would these, and any other missing, files be found? I would like to compile the launcher for Windows.
    Is there a better forum on which to post such a question as this?

    You need to download the Mircrosoft Windows SDK. Try http://www.microsoft.com/msdownload/platformsdk/sdkupdate/
    and click on the link labeled Core SDK.
    It includes windows.h and associated header files.

  • Easy question, where do i download swing so the applets work on my comp?

    Just wondering
    under windows me and i can't find it anymore !
    thanks

    It depends. If you mean "Applets don't work via appletviewer" then you just need to download the latest JDK. If you mean "Applets don't work in my browser" then you need to do 2 steps:
    1. Download the Java Plugin from here http://java.sun.com/products/plugin/
    2. Enhance your applet tag by using the HTML converter. This will force the applet to run inside the fully complient Java Plugin rather than the non-compliant Microsoft JVM. The converter can be downloaded from here: http://java.sun.com/products/plugin/converter.html
    I just checked, and if you go to that first link and choose the "IT Professional" link instead of the "Consumer" link, you get the plugin and the converter both.

  • Can't view the applet in the browser

    I have created an applet form using JDeveloper 3.1 to connect to the Oracle8i Rel2. However the following error appear during the connection:
    cannot instantiate class:oracle.jbo.common.jboInitialContextFactory
    Please assist.

    Applet Deployment for JDev 3.1
    Deployment issues for client and server:
    1. Make sure you have the JDK 1.2 plugin installed on the client.
    2. If your webserver and database are not on the same machine, you will have to configure your applet differently, or install the Net8 Connection Manager. See the Oracle JDBC Developer's Guide for more information (exact location of applet info depends on which version of the DB).
    Creating your Applet within JDeveloper:
    1. Create a new workspace.
    2. Create a new Business Components project. You will define your data model and business logic in this project. This is effectively your middle tier, but can be deployed to any tier you choose. In this project you will use the Business Components wizard to create:
    a. entity objects for each of the tables/views you want to develop against
    b. view objects (and optionally view links, associations) for each of the entity objects or combination of entity objects
    c. application module(s) to represent your data model(s)
    3. Save and build your business components project.
    4. Create a new empty project to contain your applet code.
    5. Launch the Infobus DataForm wizard to create your DAC applet. Choose the app module you created in step 2 as a data source. (Alternately, you can create the applet from scratch using the controls and binding your sessioninfo object to your app module).
    Deployment Steps within JDeveloper:
    1. Deploy your business components project.
    a. decide how you will deploy your app module (local, visibroker, etc.)
    b. if you decide to deploy in local mode, use the Deployment Profile Wizard and choose 'Simple Archive', including all of the business components project's XML and .JAVA files in the archive.
    c. if you will deploy to visibroker, see the online help for deploying your business components, and see the Release Notes for additional changes you need to make to your applet project.
    2. (if deploying BC4J project in local mode) Create a library using the archive you generated in Step 1. Add this library to your applet project from the Project Properties Libraries tab.
    3. Clear out a directory on your local machine where the deployment wizard can copy everything you need to deploy.
    4. Deploy your applet project.
    a. Run the JDeveloper Deployment Profile Wizard and choose the Web Application to Web Server option on Page 1.
    b. On page 2, select all of the .class files in your project that make up the applet.
    c. Select all the libraries listed and shuttle them to the selected list. The contents of these libraries will automatically be added to your applet's HTML file during deployment
    d. Give the .jar file a name, and run the deployment to generate that jar file.
    e. select the location of the 'clean' directory you created in step 3.
    Deploying to your WebServer:
    1. Copy everything that the deployment process placed in your 'clean' directory to your WebServer.
    If you deployed your BC4J project locally, you will need to deploy the archive file containing your business components to the webserver along with all of the other archives.
    2. If you want to put the dependency archives in a different location from the applet's HTML file under the webserver root, then you need to set the CODEBASE tag in the HTML file to the (relative) location of the archives.
    Troubleshooting:
    1. Try both Netscape and IE. Different Browsers sometimes give different errors and one might be more helpful/indicative of the problem's source.
    2. Use the Java Console to get a more detailed stack trace. For Netscape, choose Communicator->Tools->Java Console.

  • Sometimes I can't get out of Day view in iCal.  There is no where on the screen to select month view, even when I close it out and go back into iCal.

    Sometimes I am locked in "day" view in iCal.  There is no where on the screen to choose "month" view, even when I close it out and open again.  Tapping anywhere on the screen or scrolling doesn't help.

    Give this a try:
    1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
    2 - delete the contents the following folder: User/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto
    3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try full screen again.
    NOTE: For Mavericks and Yosemite,  go to your Home folder and use the View ➙ Show View Options menu to bring the this window:

  • Enter Key is not being accepted properly in the Applet

    We have developed a Telnet application which is in form of an Applet. We are facing some problems with respect to that.
    We are using Java 1.2.
    When login sessions are launched, the login prompt is displayed.
    After we enter the user id and press the "Enter" Key, the UI remains at the "user id" prompt and is not accepting the "Enter" Key.
    As a result, we are not getting the password prompt and hence NE UI is not deing displayed.
    This was verified with logs and found that the "Enter" key was interpreted as "char 7" instead of Ascii char 10(Enter Key).
    This problem was observed in both IE and Netscape.
    But this same code works fine when it is run as a Java application. Also the same applet works fine when viewed from the Applet Viewer.
    Iam of the view that the issue may be due to the restrictions imposed by the browsers on the Java Applet.
    Please give me suggestions to circumvent this problem ,if u have faced the same.
    Thanks in advance,
    Darshan

    The reason why ENTER doesn't work is because it's reserved for the default button. The SPACEBAR does what you want.

  • JRE 1.7 / Java Plug-in - Long delay in retrieving the applet File(JAR) due to a request to the Domain Controller(on port 53)

    Description:
    A specific group of users/customers (using Windows7 OS with IE and FireFox web browsers) are facing problems with retrieving the applet File, after they upgraded the JRE on the system(PC) to JRE 1.7.0_25-b17 from JRE version 1.6.0_29-b11.
    With JRE 1.7.0_25-b17 it is noticed that when the Java plugin requests for the applet File; it sends a request to the Domain Controller of the user, which causes a delay of 2 to 5 minutes and sometimes hangs. The problem occurs consistently.
    The current temporary workaround for this group of users is to use JRE version 1.6.0_29-b11.
    Problem analysis:
    To investigate the problem the below steps were executed:
    1) Collected the Java console outputbelow details from the user's system. (The complete output is not posted due to lengthy content, though can be added further to this post if required.)
    (a) Works fine with JRE version 1.6.0_29-b11. Kindly refer to Java console output in the code ‘section A’ towards the end of this post.
    (b) The problem occurs with problem with JRE version 1.7.0_25-b17. Kindly refer to Java console output in the code ‘section B’ towards the end of this post. The step where the problem is observed, is indicated as(##<comment>##).
    2) The network settings in the user's browser was checked. Internet Options > Connections > LAN setting
    The configured option is 'Use automatic configuration script' and the value is http://www.userAppX.com/proxy.pac
    This configuration remains the same irrespective of the JRE version in use.
    3) The network settings in the Java Control Panel was checked.
    The used/selected option is "Use browser settings", although values for 'Use proxy server' and 'use automatic proxy configuration script' are filled-in as 'user-proxy.com' and 'http://www.userAppX.com/proxy.pac' respectively.
    This configuration remains the same irrespective of the JRE version in use.
    4) The proxy PAC file was checked and debugging was done for the request 'https://myAppletHost.com/download/...'. The FindProxyForUrl function (including the conditions defined in it, for the hostname and domain checks) returns PROXY user-proxy.com:80
    5) The user also tried the below
    a. Changed the option in the network settings in the browser to 'Proxy server' with Address 'user-proxy.com' and Port '80'
    b. Restarted the browser.
    c. Tried with Java Plug-in 1.6.0_29, JRE version 1.6.0_29-b11. There was no problem and no request to the Domain Controller of the user.
    d. Tried with Java Plug-in 10.40.2.43, JRE version 1.7.0_40-b43. The problem occurs with the delay and a request to the Domain Controller of the user is observed.
    Kindly refer to Java console output in the code ‘section C’ towards the end of this post.
    6) The user also tried setting the below property in the Java Control panel; restarted the browser, and try with JRE 1.7.0_40-b43. The problem stil persists.
    -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true
    7) The Global Policy Management of the Domain Controller was verified by the user. It has GPO for proxy setting but nothing related to Java security.
    Questions:
    The problem seems be specific to a particular (user) environment setup, and the user faces the problem when using JRE 1.7.
    We would like to know if the issue is in the (user) environment setup or in JRE 1.7.
    Could you please help with information/ideas/suggestions to identify the root cause and solution for this problem?

  • How to get the applet method value in javascript variable

    Hi,
    I have an applet which reading the text file content, text file has valued either ON or OFF
    import java.applet.*;
    import java.io.*;
    public class A extends Applet
    public String line="";
    public void init( )
    String strPath ="D:/WAS_Status.txt";
    try
                             BufferedReader objReader = new BufferedReader(new FileReader(strPath));
                             line = objReader.readLine();
    }catch( IOException e)
    e.printStackTrace();
                        System.out.println("val :"+line);
              public boolean returnFileValue()
                   if("ON".equals(line))
                        return true;
                   else
                        return false;
    In html file :
    <HTML>
    <HEAD>
    <SCRIPT language="JavaScript">
    var line='';
    function loadAppContent()
         line=document.TestApplet.returnFileValue();
         alert("val : "+line);
    </SCRIPT>
    </HEAD>
    <BODY onload="loadAppContent()">
    <APPLET CODE="A.class" NAME="TestApplet" >
    </APPLET >
    </BODY>
    </HTML>
    I am calling the applet method. But I am not able to get value either as true or false.
    line=document.TestApplet.returnFileValue();
    Getting error as object doesnt support this property.
    I tried, line=document.TestApplet.line;
    Gets val as undefined.
    The line variable of Applet will return either ON or OFF value.
    Pls suggest where it has gone wrong or is there any other way?

    Yes it is a reserved word to warn that this applet , lets say send messages to the HTML page that call it.
    You will find the instruction how to do that at sun site.
    Yes you have to implement an interface inside the applet (code)
    and send a message to HTML with the name and parameters of
    the Javascript you want to call!
    But for all this to work you have to put in your project two new classes.
    And after that call some methods that does the job you want.
    Look for Java to JavaScript Comunication to get what you want!.
    check this per exemple!

  • Using the transaction launcher to call a BOR method to display a PDF

    Hello gurus,
    I have created a PDF icon and an onclick action to open a pdf, that displays on every row of an assignment block in the actions column, but I do not know the technical process to determine how to get a PDF from the IXOS system from the line selected. (even if I know it depends on an ID attribute of that assignment block) I want to to call a transaction launcher with the url for the pdf in the IXOS that has an ID that identifies which line in the assignment block the user has clicked the pdf icon for (does that make sense?)
    In CRM 4, in the collection factsheet assignment block, the link was coded into an XSLT which is then displayed in the GUI and you would have a clickable link for a pdf file in a row in a table. That link would be as follows:
             <xsl:variable name="ev_key">SAPEVENT:?OBJTYPE=<xsl:value-of select="attributes/OBJTYPE"/>&amp;OBJKEY=<xsl:value-of select="@KEY"/>&amp;LOGSYS=<xsl:value-of select="attributes/LOGSYS"/></xsl:variable>
                 <a href="{$ev_key}"></a>
    This will get the file in IXOS and display it, in CRM 4. In CRM 7, the link is an icon in every line of an assignment block.
    Here are some questions I have now for the functional side in the meantime:
    1) Can we fetch the PDF in IXOS for each line of an assignment block and have it open? If so, how? Transaction launcher, function modules (like ARCHIVOBJECT_DISPLAY) in the OPTA package? (the package for all IXOS related function modules..)
    2) Which URL should I call with the transaction launcher? a URL link to the PDF on the IXOS system?? or sapevent:xxx?
    3) Do we have to configure a transaction in the IMG to be launched with the attributes listed there? Do we have to link it to any classes/ objects?
    4) Do we have to have the code to the logical link dynamically to call the right PDF for each table line? Is it right to put this code in my event handler?? Usually transaction launchers are just in the nav bar.....
    5) Are there any existing examples of this or a similar functionality/ logic that I could refer to, preferably in CRM 7 WebUI?
    6) Do you have any code to just display a PDF in a new window? Or prompt a download?
    One possible way I thought of would be for me to have a logical link defined in the IMG for the transaction launcher, and have the attributes defined for my BOR object that I would call, and pass it different attributes (eg. objtype, objkey, logsys...) and then return the PDF and display it in the UI in a new browser window by itself. (There is a BOR method for my BOR object named  'display_pdf'!!!!)
    What do you think would be the optimal solution here? Does my theory of calling a BOR object with a transaction launcher to display a PDF make ANY sense whatsoever???
    Please do not hesitate to propose any potential solution. Any partial answers/ links to wikis/ other threads, anything would be much appreciated.
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi Any help on this....I am still awaiting the response.
    Requirement: My requirement is to launch the SE38 transaction on WEBUI using transaction luncher tool and set the parameter on the selection screen.
    Issue: The issue is that I am able to lunch the transaction but unable to set the parameter
    Steps Performed:
    I want to list down all the steps I performed to launch an SE38 transaction using transaction launcher on the WEBUI
    1) Defined logical system in tcode CRMS_IC_CROSS_SYS
    -The logical link looks like this
    http://<server>:<port>/sap/bc/gui/sap/its/webgui/!?transaction=IC_LTXE&okcode=ICEXECUTE ?sap-client=300
    2) Defined URL & paratemeter wherein the request method is "GET", opted for NON-BSP URL
    URL link here is
    http://<server>:<port>/sap/bc/gui/sap/its/webgui/!?transaction=SE38&okcode=ONLI
    -Note: My selection screen okcode os ONLI*
    -The logical system ref is provided here
    3) Defined the parameter by giving the screen name like for SE38 selection screen name is "RS38M-PROGRAMM"
    4) Configured the transaction launcher of type B - URL type and provided the reference of the URL ID, choose the relevant parameter from the drop down and have hardcoded the value, cheked the box "Save Data in Activity Clipboard
    5) Added this in the NAvlink/Bus Role etc
    6) Now in the handler class of the TL the code looks like this:
    IF_CRM_IC_ACTION_HANDLER~PREPARE_DATA_FLOW
    __gdc ?=
    cl_crm_ui_data_context_srv=>get_instance( gv_view_controller ).
    __value
    =
    'ZC_TEST'.
    add_parameter(
       iv_name =
    'RS38M-PROGRAMM'
    iv_value = __value ).
    However, after performing the above steps I am unable to set the parameter. Please suggest where am I missing out on. An early response would really be appreciated.

  • Using separate_frame=true and trying to close the applet window after...

    We are using separate_frame=true and trying to close the applet window (the one with the large gray box) after using the following post-form trigger:
    if :system.last_form = 0 then
         message('Please wait while Forms closes - '||:system.last_form);
         web.show_document('/forms/html/close.htm','_self');
    end if;
    This works fine for the first form we open, but if that same form using Open_Form to open a child form we have a problem. When the child form is closed the user is returned to the parent calling form (which is expected), but then when the parent form is closed the separate applet window fails to close. Any suggestions?

    I guess you mis-interpreted the value of :SYSTEM.LAST_FORM. From the online-help:
    SYSTEM.LAST_FORM represents the form document ID of the previous form in a multi-form application, where multiple forms have been invoked using OPEN_FORM.So LAST_FORM shows always the ID of the last activated form, and this will never be 0 if you issued one OPEN_FORM in your application.
