Where should images reside?
Hi,
We are trying to deploy current web sites into Portal, and there are a lot of images (gifs, jpegs) associated with the sites. Do we need to copy all the images that we use to the ORACLE HOME /images path, or can we point to the images as where they are existing now without hardcoding? For example, we are referring to the images now in portal page as "http://www.domain.com/images/b6.gif". Is there a way that we don't have to hardcoded "http://www.domain.com/images" or copy the images to ORACLE HOME /images path and it still knows where to get the correct image?
Thanks;
Kelly.
This is a different slant on the question. I wanted to store JavaScript JS files at the file level. I created a 'js' directory under $ORACLE_HOME/portal30 but do not know how to access it. If I want to access a graphic stored in $ORACLE_HOME/portal30/images, as in a Dynanic HTML portlet, one enters a command such as:
<ORACLE>
select a.*,
'<IMG src=/images/zip.jpg>' photo
from scott.emp a
</ORACLE>
The 'images' subdirectory under $ORACLE_HOME/portal30 maps to the relative directory /images.
Thanks in advance,
Stan Beck

Where should images be stored?
When upgrading a switch, my new image always ends up like this:
3 -rwx 6677760 Dec 31 1969 21:30:37 -05:00 c3560-ipbasek9-mz.122-25.SED1.bin
Images that came with the switch are stored like this:
8 drwx 192 Feb 28 1993 19:21:33 -05:00 c3560-ipbasek9-mz.122-25.SED1
The "drwx" image that came with the switch is in it's own directory, I assume? Is this the way images should be stored in flash or is ok to store them like the previous example. Them seem to work fine. And what would the command look like to store them in their own directory?
Thanks, Pat.The fact that the image is in a subdirectory or not, is not an issue
The bootloader just needs the path to the image.
I think the archive commands allows you to create a tar file but I have never tried that.
I never required the embeded manager so I replace the contects of the flash with just the bin file and a config.
Cheers,

Can I/How do I Rename the Folder Where All my Cataloged Images Reside
I have migrated all my images from an old W7 system to a newer system, and successfully built a new PSE catalog on the new PC. Now I would like to rename the folder where the images actually reside. How can I do that, PSE-wise?
I've found some options to move the PSE Catalog, but I don't think that's what I want - I want to move the media, and rebuild the catalog (and thus abandon ship on the old one). Is that possible? You have to export copies, and you can specify the resolution in the export dialogue. But the easiest way to provide high-resolution copies for your client is to give them full-sized JPEG images. Changing the resolution number will have no impact on the quality or the resolution. If you want to send them low-resolution images, then resize them to something like 800 x 1200 pixels. Again, the number in the resolution box has no impact on the quality. But you will have to export the copies in two export operations because you can't export two different sizes at once. You don't have to wait for the one export process to finish before you start the other one.

I cannot see imbedded images in Word, just lines where the image should be
MacBook Pro 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7 - 16GB 1333 MHz DDR3- OS X 10.9.4
Microsoft Office 2011 - "Problems with Word"
We have a software application that creates DOCX files. Most of the document is fine but where there are imbedded images the images are not there, when we use two fingers on the tracking pad lines appear where the image is supposed to be. I have checked Word (Preferences) and Image Placeholders is not checked, Drawings is checked.
I have seen other posts regarding this problem but cannot find the solution. Does anyone know how to fix?If you right-click the image in Internet Explorer and check its Properties, is it on the same server as the page or on a different server? Do both have a matching protocol (e.g., HTTP or HTTPS)?
More generally: When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
(1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.
(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:
* right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
* Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.
Then try reloading the page. Does that help? -
Where should I put things on my new computer
Since I've been running LR (currently 3.6) under Windows XP on a 6 year old HP desktop with an AMD dual core processer I just purchased a Dell XPS 8500 and plan to install LR 4.1 and move my catalogs and images to this new machine.
The machine came with a 1 TB SATA || hard disk, and I've installed a 240 GB SATA III SSD and installed Windows 7 on it. I currently have my images on an external 1.5 TB eSATA hard disk connected to the old computer, and expect to connect it to new computer the same way.
Currently (in LR 3.6) I find I spend most of my time in the library module culling images and selecting a small number to develop. I generate 100% previews for a shoot, and then switch between grid, loupe, and compare views, frequently zooming to 100% to check and compare critical focus. Since I develop a much smaller number for photos, and typically do pretty minimal processing, don't spend as much time in the develop module. Assuming that I'll do the same thing in LR 4.1, my top priority is library and performance, particularly when zoomed to 100%, and secondarily develop performance.
My question is, to get the best performance, where (on the SSD, internal hard disk, or external hard disk) should I
install LR 4.1
store my catalog(s)
store the Camera Raw cache
store my imageshopefully the rest of the community responds with some of the specifics you are asking, but take a look at

How can I see how often and where an image is used in the site?
Just realized the post appeared twice as at first sending I
got an error page (contains no data...).
So, please do all answer to the other post, so that all
replies get collected at one post only.
Hello,
please excuse my maybe dumb question but converting from
GoLive I am still trying to find several practical effective
workflow features in DW ...
1. where in the sitewindow/assets or files panel can I see an
indication at each image if and how often it is used in a site?
2. and where can I see/check on which pages it is used?
Thanks in advance for guiding me there ...
bye,
Beate> How do DW users know how often and where an image is
used on the site
> then?
I'm not sure what the benefit is of knowing how often an
image is used, but
a search for the image by filename would do the trick.
And just so you'll know, this is a peer forum, not an
official communication
vehicle to Adobe. We are all just users here, not Adobe
employees.

Where should I save my Dreamweaver Widgets?
Hi, everyone.
I downloaded a Lightbox widget. Clearly, I made a mistake in saving the widget, because this is the address in my header information for the CSS file!
C|/Users/Alex/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Dreamweaver CS4/en_US/Configuration/Temp/Assets/eam6DA9.tmp/css/lightbox.css
I am downloading the widget again, and it is asking for my destination folder. Where should I save the widget so that I can pop the CSS and JS files right into the head data?
Thanks a lot, Community -Hello Queenoid,
It does not matter where you save the widget although you probably want to save it into something like your "My Documents" or "Downloads" folder for easy access. When you save the Lightbox widget, 1 file (LightBox Gallery Widget_default.html) & 3 folders (css, images, scripts) are saved in the location you specified. If you want to use your own pictures, go into the images folder & replace the images there with your own.
When done, upload the file & folders to your site & everything should work. -
Where should i store all my pics
Hi Guys, I am new to apple and am importing 18,000 photos. Where should i store them. I will use Aperture 3 for editing. Should i put all pics in Aperture and use there library or should i store my pics on the Hard Drive and then import to aperture as need be. If i do this, do i need to then export photos after editing back to sub folders on hard drive. ANy thoughts??

Read up on and use a *Referenced-Masters Library.* Put originals ("Masters") on external hard drive(s) and separately back them up. Then (very important) when you go to import into Aperture select +"store files in their current location"+ on the right hand side of the import window. If you do not select "store files in their current location" Aperture will default to putting the Masters in the +Aperture Library+ (which would then be called a +Managed-Masters Library+ ) instead of just referencing them, and sooner or later your iMac's internal hard drive will become overfilled and you will need to reconfigure to a Referenced-Masters Library.
Do this a few times with test images to be sure you fully understand the process before you go after the 18k images. Aperture will treat each import batch as a Project so best will be to break your 18k images into individual Projects (e.g. "Mary Jones Wedding" or "20091219," etc.) to import them.
If i do this, do i need to then export photos after editing back to sub folders on hard drive.
Unlike Photoshop, Aperture is a non-destructive editor. The Masters themselves are never actually changed. Aperture instead stores your edits in the Aperture Library. You only export when you need edited images for some usage (like delivery of copies of edited images to a client).

Where should DNG profile editor install the .dcp file?
Just made my first attempt to create a custom camera profile using the X-Rite color checker passport and the DNG Profile Editor.
Thanks to the excellent tutorial, the process went smoothly. Next I took the final step of exporting the profile (.dcp) file, expecting to find the new profile when I opened an image in ACR. Unfortunately the new profile was not listed in the Camera Profile dropdown menu.
After much searching I discovered that the profile was written to the folder containing the .dng images used to construct the profile. Obviously not where it belongs in order for ACR to find it. I assumed that "Export Profile" would automatically write the .dcp file to the proper location.
Where should the .dcp files be installed for Win7x64 running ACR 8.2.?
Is there a way to establish the proper location as the default in the Profile Editor?
Thanks for your help.Custom-created .DCP profile files go into the following location under your Windows Users folder:
C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles
The AppData folder is a hidden-system folder so you may need to turn on the viewing of those type of folders in your Explorer folder view options or just type \AppData into the folder address area and hit Enter once you get to your username folder. -
A Folder "Apple Security_files" is on my desktop. where should I move it?
I have a powerbook G4 running OS X 10.4.6. I also have OS X 10.2.7 on an external hard drive. This is because my Epson perfection 3170 scanner will not work with 10.4 but did work with 10.2 and I'm trying (unsucessfully) to use it.
(But that is another topic) A folder named Apple Security_Files which has 13 gif files, 1 css file (default.css), and 5 png files (a.png thru a_005png) in it. I'm not sure if this folder came out of my 10.4 librays somewhere or my 10.2 library somewhere. It is the only folder with this name that spotlight finds on my system. WHERE SHOULD I MOVE IT TO TO GET IT OFF THE DESKTOP?
Thanks
PowerBook G4 Mac OS X (10.4.6)Not sure about the name "Apple Security_Files" - but here's a breakdown of the file formats you've noted:
gif = picture/image file
css = "style-sheet" for web page design
png = macromedia fireworks document
If I had to guess... this looks like some part of a web design project.
Hope this helps!

Spotlight problems: where should mdimporters be?
I see that others are having problems now, too, after the 4.5 upgrade.
After installing, the Office 11.2.3 upgrade I was having a **** of a time getting my home computer to find Entourage messages through Spotlight. After trying many things, someone helped me by pointing out that the mdimporter plugins should be in the System/Library/Spotlight folder, not the Library/Spotlight folder, voila!
Now for other applications I noticed the same thing, including Apple apps. So, where should the mdimporter plugins ultimately be? Does this have anything to do with the recent 4.5 upgrade?
I love the cuss word filter here! 1984 is a bit like 1984, no?
Thanks in advance.
iMac G5 17 Mac OS X (10.4.4)
iMac G5 17 Mac OS X (10.4.4)Generally speaking the /System/Library is reserved by Apple for Apple's own system level installed goodies. The /Library folder is what should be used by things installed by a user's programs. Thus my /Library/Spotlight folder sports the following program mdimporters:
AppleWorks.mdimporter
Keynote.mdimporter
Microsoft Office.mdimporter
Pages.mdimporter
While the /System/Library/Spotlight folder has these:
Application.mdimporter
Audio.mdimporter
Bookmarks.mdimporter
Chat.mdimporter
Font.mdimporter
iCal.mdimporter
Image.mdimporter
iPhoto.mdimporter
Mail.mdimporter
PDF.mdimporter
PS.mdimporter
QuartzComposer.mdimporter
QuickTime.mdimporter
RichText.mdimporter
SystemPrefs.mdimporter
vCard.mdimporter
So for program importers think /Library, for Apple's own deeper level ones think /System.

I have some loops from acid 5 which I have dragged in a folder to the loop browser. Some of them retain the folder name in the View: and some don't. I have also had some that seem to go in but I can't find them. If I try to add them again, I get a msg that they are already there. Where should I look?
It may be best to recreate the folder and the smart playlists from scratch.

I add all photos taken on camera roll to individual albums. However, once a photo is deleted from camera roll, it's also deleted from the albums where it also resides. Is there a way to delete or clear out the camera roll but keep them in albums?
