Where to get 'out of warranty' ATV1 repaired by an expert?

I recently bought an ATV2 as my ATV1 kept freezing up during playback.  I am convinced the problem with my ATV1 is in the hardware or microcode.
I really prefer the opeartional design of the ATV1 in terms of not needing my PC with iTunes to be running all the time. I also liked being able to use Album Artwork for my floating screensaver.
Where is the best place to  get my 'out of warranty' ATV1 repaired / rebuilt?  I'm guessing Apple may not want to work on ATV1's since the release of ATV2's, but may be able to recommend a skilled repairer.

You can still get service from Apple on your original Apple TV, but of course you will have to pay for it.
Call AppleCare and ask for a service appointment at your nearest Apple Store or Apple-authorized service provider.

  • My iphone5s has been opened, could i get Out-of-warranty repair service? it is still in One Year Limited Warranty

my iphone5s has some problem with hardware. And someone has opened it for repairing. but he failed. Now, my iphone5s unable to boot. But it is still in One Year Limited Warranty. I am confused whether i can get Out-of-warranty service. Thank you!

No. Apple will never touch that phone again. Go back to the "technician" that ruined your phone. Maybe he will offer you "warranty" service and give you some cash that you can use in buying a new phone.

  • How do I get out of warranty repair on Zen Xtra 6

I installed Windows Media Player and it informed me my driver was out of date. I clicked on their link and downloaded the new driver and "Play for Sure" os update. When I applied the OS update, it stopped after the first time it said my Zen was rebooting. I had waited 6 hours as it said it could take some time to complete. Now it goes to the resuce mode. I've tried disk clean up, format the disk, and delete the os then tried to flash up OS. The computer says the device is not connected despite it showing up in "my computer". I emailed Tech Support and, being very helpful, they said it is outside warranty. I responded fine, how do I send it in for out of warranty repair. They replied to call Customer Service. Now there is a misnomer if I ever heard of it. I called the 800 number. The nice lady said she could sell me a new player but I'd have to call 405-742-6622 fpr tech support. So I call the number and listen to their blurb about visiting to the website which has *NO* reference on how to obtain out of warranty repair. Then the phone menu determines I am out of 60 day complimentary support but I can get a tutor session for $2.99?I know how to use the player, I've used it for a couple years. What I needed to know was how to send it in for out of warranty repair. Back to the 800 number. Woman will help me buy a new player but says there is no way to obtain repair out of warranty but I can pay for a tutor session. I've searched the knowledge base and forums here. I see this question asked before and it seems like no one has gotten an answer. Can anyone please tell me how to get out of the Twilight Zone of Awful Customer Service and reach someone who can tell me how to get it repaired out of warranty?Or am I doomed to write off my $600 Zen Xtra as a useless paperweight?I have an Archos AV500 which needed out of warranty repair and it took me less than 5 minutes on one phone call to make the arrangements...

Did you download the PC version? There is no DOS in OSX.
Look for the Mac version of AutoCAD.

  • What is the cost of replacing iphone 5(broken screen, out of warranty) with a higher model maybe 5s? In India.

    Hi,
Yesterday i dropped my phone and the screen got shattered. The phone is working fine. but the screen is cracked.
After searching through the internet, i found out the following options:
    Getting Out-of-warranty Replacement.
Getting the screen repaired by Apple Store.
I am located in India and had  bought the phone from India only.
    So my questions are?
What is the cost of getting an out-of warranty replacement for iPhone 5?
Can i get a replacement for a higher model of iPhone( maybe 5s or upcoming iPhone 6). If yes, how much extra i'll have to pay?
Is it possible to repair the broken screen in India? if yes, what will be the tentative cost?
    Thanks.

iPhone 5 screen replacement at an Apple store is ~$120.
The price of getting the screen replaced in the US on the 5 is $150, and it is only available on the US as of now.
iPhone 5 screen replacement at an non-official Apple retailer is $75-90
Should the OP decide to go that route, he will be forfeiting future support from Apple, both in and out of warranty
    A new/refurb 16GB iPhone 5 from Apple is ~$400
A used 16GB iPhone 5 on Craigslist or Swappa is ~$275-350
Apple no longer sells the iPhone 5. They keep a number of units on hand for out of warranty service, which is $269 in the US.
Buying from Craiglist (or on-line) is usually risky as the phones turn out to be not what they are advertised as.

That's why Apple Store works in every country. The only way you can get your warranty working is by sending it back to the US so they can send a replacement or do whatever they need to do. Get it to your closest Apple Store
    From https://www.apple.com/legal/warranty/
Apple may restrict warranty service for iPhone and iPad to the country where Apple or its Authorized Distributors originally sold the device.
Edit: "If you seek service in a country that is not the original country of purchase, you will comply with all applicable import and export laws and regulations and be responsible for all custom duties, V.A.T. and other associated taxes and charges. Where international service is available, Apple may repair or replace Apple Products and parts with comparable Apple Product and parts that comply with local standards."

Apple's Limited Warranty http://www.apple.com/legal/warranty/ for iPad excludes coverage for damage resulting from accident, disassembly, unauthorized service and unauthorized modifications.
The warranty will apply to the country of purchase. And if there is a problem needing repair you have to return it to the country of purchase.

  • Can only boot in Safe Mode -NVDA(Video): Channel exception! is this hardware or software and how much did it cost you to get it fixed out of warranty?

NVDA(Video): Channel exception! exception type = 0x1 = Fifo: Fifo Method Error
NVDA(Video): Channel exception! exception type = 0x6 = Fifo: Parse Error
My iMac freezes and crashes and I get the above message in the kernel log. I have done a few reinstalls from time machine but it comes back.
I get to the point where I want to erase the disk and do a clean install but I get afraid that the kernel will panic during install/ I will lose the registration keys to software/ or that I am just wasting my time.
Has anyone truly fixed this? Is an erase and install going to help?
My first crash happened a week or so after updating to 10.6.8. I was watching videos in full screen mode. When I pressed esc it froze. (Sometimes the audio continues but the iMac is frozen.)
So I stopped use Chrome but it followed me to Safari. I like YouTube Videos and can't watch them in safe mode -no sound.
After installing from a time machine back-up and just re-installing my Mac will boot normally but it doesn't last long and I often can't even boot to CD. It sometimes crashes in the finder.
    What's going on?
This computer is old but should have tons of life left- if you've been here how did you get out of this mess?
How much is it going to cost me to get my computer back?
I can't do a hardware test because I don't know where the original disks are but tech tools and the system profiler assure me everything is OK.
    Any moral support is welcome.

It could be a failing drive or logicboard (GPU), it is old and has probably served you well, you can take to an Apple store and they will diagnose it for free, and give you your options, but it is old and are you willing to pay much money to have it repaired? You are probably better off replacing it.
There is some software for data ercovery such as Disk Warrior, but it's not cheap.
    Or ask about this program
    http://nwsinglespeed.hubpages.com/hub/Do-You-Know-About-Apples-Flat-Rate-Repair- Pricing
You can try shutting down and try a SMC reset
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
and see if it will boot, if it does try to do a back up, but something sounds as though it may be in failure mode.
    Good luck

  • Optical drive on iMac at work, barely one year old, won't read CD's....disc utilities shows disc unavailable!  Rarely used and out of warranty, what a rip off!!  I have been on MACS since the 80's and things are getting more and more difficult

Optical drive on iMac at work, barely one year old, won't read CD's....disc utilities shows disc unavailable!  Rarely used and out of warranty, what a rip off!!  I have been on MACS since the 80's and things are getting more and more difficult to deal with. Why did it quit after barely being used? Any help from Apple?

It depends on what you mean by "barely one year old". If the iMac is only a couple of days out of warranty, Apple's been known to make exceptions and extend the warranty, though it's by no means guaranteed. If it's several days or more out of warranty, then Apple will fix it, if it's a hardware problem, but the repair won't be free. This is no different now then it would have been with a Mac purchased back in the 80s.
Why the drive failed, if indeed it has, is impossible to say. Could have been a static shock, a weak component that failed when power was applied, or a mechanical fault in one of the tiny parts used in optical drives and hard drives that finally broke.
    Regards.

  • IPhone 4s (out-of-warranty) cost of screen repair?

So I have an iPhone 4s that I know is out-of-warranty. I do not have Applecare+. Today at work my phone got knocked off a table onto the floor, and when I checked the phone, everything was working fine. But when I went to check it on my break a couple hours later, the screen was shades of blue/whiteblack with vertical lines running up and down the screen. My phone still vibrates/rings when getting a call, and it will light up the screen when I get a notification, but the screen itself has no functionality. I can't see anything. And everything else about the handset is perfect--no cracks or broken glass, just a small chip on the back bottom left corner and a small scratch on the front bottom left corner glass that have been there since about 6 months in when I dropped it in a parking lot. I know it is some sort of internal hardware issue and not a software problem because I took a screenshot of my blue striped screen and then looked at the photo via the iCloud photo stream on my PC. The screenshot looks like my normal screen with the time and everything on it. I really feel like the screen just has a connection knocked loose or something.
I know that the phone is out-of-warranty, and that I will have to pay for a repair/replacement--I don't mind having to pay to fix it--but I am wondering if it will be even possible to get it fixed at the Genius Bar, or will they just turn me away and tell me I need to purchase a brand new handset at full price (which I really cannot afford) because I am out of warranty.
    Any advice?

So no chance of just getting the screen fixed by Apple? I was trying to avoid winding up with a refurbished phone.

  • How to go about getting screen replacement - out of warranty

    Hi,
My T61p is out of warranty, and the LCD had begun displaying white pressure marks and is generally alot dimmer. Whilst i'm comfortable using computers, i'm not comfortable replacing hardware parts myself. How would i go about getting the LCD replaced and possibly upgraded from WXGA to WSXGA+? Can this be done through Lenovo, or would i be better off looking for a third party company to do this for me? If it can be done through Lenovo (which tbh i would prefer), how would i go about arranging this?
Thanks in advance for any replies

As for Lenovo not advertising, not making it easy to get post-warranty / out-of-warranty repairs, this mostly boils down to a cost to return value issue.
For every possible failure of any possible hardware-combination, you'd need at least one (bare minimum, say more likely 4-5) at every repair shop who stocks their own replacement parts, and at least twice as many at any central hub supplying said repair shops. This costs money, and as the hardware gets older, less and less demand is being put forth for work done on said hardware - hence the replacement parts take up valuable shelfspace, and is considered a too high cost vs. value.
This is the same for any type of product, really. If you buy a washing machine, it'll get harder to get parts for it after 5 years than after 2-3 - simply because maybe the only place that still has the parts is the main facility, or maybe the parts aren't even produced yet.
It's also based on a life-expectancy of the equipment - computer equipment, while more than able to function beyond 5 years of use, have a limited value after short time, simply because the development of new, more powerful parts continue. A top-of-the-line computer from 3 years ago will be surpassed by a medium to low-end machine today, for half the cost, or even less.
Hence, you get third-party service centers, eBay, etc. which can help you if your old machine have a problem - it's usually not that hard to get hold of Lenovo-parts, simply because they tend to keep design over more than one model-specter, and they sell a LOT of each model, mainly to business clients, which tend to exchange their hardware on 3-5 year cycle, depending.
I don't really think it's uncommon to see manufacturers not supporting, or providing repair options after the models' shelf-life has been terminated, and mainly all warranty-services are off. This is the same for HP, Dell, Lenovo, Apple etc. Of course they CAN repair it, for a steep fee, but it's most often not worth the cost, and very few people pay it - instead opting for doing it themselves, or having a local PC repair-shop do it.
At least, both Lenovo and to some degree HP have very good manuals available, including a full tear-down of the hardware.
