  • Which Linksys Product Should I Get?

    Good day to you all
I would like some solid pointer advice to set me off in the right direction.
I need to extend the range & scope of my wireless network.
I have a BT ADSL router with a Netgear 302 Access point plugged into it.
I then have a 50m clear line-of-sight to my flat where I want to install "SOMETHING" that has 4 ethernet ports, two aerials (the netgear has Send & Receive antenna so would like the receiver to have the same) that I can plug my two PCs into and they will then be able to access the internet.
I have seen the terms "bridge" and "wireless switch" bandied about, and a little digging has made me fancy the look of the WRT54G (two aerials, plenty of config options).
But I would appreciate a good, solid reply recommending a specific "SOMETHING", suggesting a firmware upgrade if necessary, and suggesting in which mode it be used.
I am normally the go-to guy for technical questions, but I am a bit out of my depth with wireless networking once it gets complicated.
Peace and goodwill to you all
    Tony

If you are planning to buy WRT54G router, then how you are planning to connect this Router? will it be Hardwired to the Modem or it will get the Internet from your Netgear Access Point?
If you want that the router should talk to your Netgear access point, then you need a Wireless Bridge (WET610N) , which will talk to your Netgear  Access Point wirelessl. Then you can Connect a Wireless Router (WRT54G)  to the Bridge and that will make all you computers go online wired as well as wirelessly.

  • How can i add  fields to a cube which is in production support

    hi,
how can i add fiels to a cube which is in production support.

    Hi Maruthi
You need to add new fields to cube in Development system and then transport it to production after testing.
Edit cube in RSA1. Add the new infoobjects from right hand directory to left hand pane and assign these new infoobjects to suitable dimensions. Save and activate the infocube. Now go to change update rules for this infocube and do proper mapping of these infoobjects.
Save & activate the update rules.
RSA1-> Transport connection-> select cube, update rules and related objects and create transport request.
After testing is done, give the transport request number to your Basis person and he will do the transports for you.

  • Which Linksys VPN Routers support Multicast forwarding

Which Linksys VPN Routers support Multicast forwarding / passthru   I have remote SPA942 phones connected thru a vpn to a SPA9000/SPA400 system. After manual provisioning the phones work, but voice mail, auto provisioning, etc that use multicast do not work. VPN is using Netgear boxes which do not forward multicast. I'm going to switch to Linksys/Cisco VPN routers but want to make sure which models will do the multicast forwarding.
    Thanks

I only no of 1 for sure and that is by downloading 3rd party firmware like DD-WRT, the WRT54G. See the below Link.

  • Cisco and Linksys products mixed environment

    Hello All,
Before I ask my question, I would like to know if it's OK to ask questions regarding both Cisco and Linksys products in this forum, or if this forum is just for Cisco OR Linksys? I just want to make sure before I ask my question.
The devices we are talking about are UC520, Catalyst Express 520 Switch, and 2 Linksys SRW224P Switches.
    Thank you!

Thanks for your response, I can now describe my problem....
We are using the UC520 as a PBX System, VPN Server, and what-have-you. On the expansion port, we connected the CE520 Switch, and we have many phones, and some other devices connected to it. Now, on ports 5 and 6 of the UC520, we connected the 2 Linksys Switches we've had for a couple of years now. Anyway, on these switches we have a few computers connected, but what I am having problems is 8 IP Cameras (PVC2300 also by Linksys). What we wanted to do was to create a new VLAN (2) on the UC520 to house these IP Cameras (all of which have static IP addresses in the subnet 192.168.0.1/24). We need the office manager's laptop to be able to see the cameras, but this laptop is in VLAN 1 (192.168.10.1/24). I opened up at  case with TAC and they helped me create the VLAN and all this, and now they said it should all be working OK, except it's not, and they said it has to do with the Linksys switches (which they can't provide support for). I am not a networking wizard, I consider myself a very basic IT guy when it comes to this, so I am not sure what I'm supposed to do on the switches to have them communicate correctly with the UC520 and VLAN 1 and 2. Right now, the computers connected to the Linksys Switches are actually in VLAN 1, and can access the IP Phones Web GUI, so I don't know why this new VLAN is not visible by the Data VLAN.
I hope I am clear, and if you have any questions I will be glad to answer them.
    Thanks for any help provided!!
Our topology is something like this:
CE520 on Expansion port ------ Mostly phones and a few computers
                   |
                   |
    Internet---UC520 ----- SRW224P Switch on UC520 port 5 ------ IP Cameras and a bunch of computer/network devices
                   |
                   |
                   |
SRW224P Switch on UC520 port 6 -------- IP Cameras and a couple of computers

  • EA4500 won't allow wake on WAN

I'm hoping to get this router to allow WOL (actually wake on WAN) but it seems to be blocking the necessary broadcast magic packet even though the settings appear correct. It's not critical, but the reason is this: I'd like to shut down the home PC, but when necessary be able to start it up and use a VPN to access any info I need remotely.
From within the LAN, I can verity that WOL works. I have NIC and PCI WOL enabled in the BIOS. The NIC (a Marvel Yukon Gigabit) has WOL enabled as well as "allow this device to wake.." using magic packets under power management. The target machine's local IP is reserved through the EA4500 DHCP Reservation table. Just for troubleshooting, I opened port 9 in windows firewall. More importantly, I have ports 7-9 forwarded to my target LAN address. Single port forwarding... it just has been less reliable (?). I'm using a mask of 255.255.255.128 in order to enable broadcasting on .127 at some point as it seems it must be necessary. Broadcasting on .255 is not possible, despite some workarounds I found on the web. EA4500 firmware is the latest, 2.0.37. I have turned off the multicast filter and the anonymous internet filters under the security tab.
So, with these settings, I can WOL from inside the network no problem either targeting the LAN address, or by using a dyndns address. So far so good.
With these same settings, I can go to WAN using Depicus or the Cloud Connect Pro app over 4G on an iPad. With all these same settings, WOLsniffer confirms the magic packet still getting through over WAN (obviously using the dyndns address). Even better, I can shutdown the target PC and STILL wake it up within a few minutes from WAN. Let me restate that! Wake up over WAN works, but only for the first few minutes after a shutdown.
However, if I wait 20 minutes or so, WOL stops working. If I change the port forwarding to .127, not only does it not work, but WOLsniffer will fail to see the magic packet. My conclusion is that the ARP table is getting purged, which is undertandable, and so the target LAN address isn't in memory. However, frustratingly the EA4500 will not broadcast no matter what settings you use. This limitation is undocumented, and counterintuitive since the software allows you to disable multicast filtering and does not notify you of an error when forwarding to xxx.xxx.xxx.127 with a 255.255.255.128 mask.
If I missed something, I'd be happy to try it! But more likely this is an unclear and undocumented firmware limitation. I'd really like to see it fixed.

Wake on LAN (WoL) is a technology that permits someone to turn ON a computer remotely.  The network adapter on the computer listens to network activity and will turn the computer ON once it receives a special data packet called a “Magic Packet” that triggers the boot up.  Wake on LAN is also referred to as Remote Wake-up.For Wake on LAN to work on a computer, it must have the following:
    •   A wired connection to an active computer network
    •   Motherboard
    •   Network adapter and adapter driver that support the standard Magic Packet format
    •   Computer basic input/output system (BIOS) configured for WoL
    •   An operating system that supports WoL
    •   All routers between the remote location and computer required to WoL must allow IP directed broadcasts and support IPv4

  • Re: Portege R830 - Can't find my model on the Product Support list

    Hi everyone,
I recently bought a Portege R830 and was trying to find the support page for my model.
However on the Product Support list, where you choose the model, I can't find which one is mine.
My model is displayed as *R830-1056UB* on the box the laptop came in and it simply says *Portege R830* on the underside of the laptop.
There are several entries for R830 on the Product Support list, but *R830-1056UB* is not one of them.
*Any ideas how I can decide which one is mine?* (I'm worried about downloading wrong software/drivers for my laptop)
I'm not in a country with a support phone number and it seems Toshiba support don't have an email contact, so I haven't been able to contact Toshiba directly for help.
Thank you in advance for your time and help!

    Hello
I dont know which Toshiba support page you have checked but if this notebook is designed for Asian market you should find it on Toshiba Asia support page.
In which country you have bought it?

  • Production Support for Multiple BI roll-outs

    Hello BI Experts,
This might be more of an administrative question, but I will need inputs from Developer's perspective.
We are having 2 implemenation projects going on at the moment. They are sharing same ECC 6.0 & BI 7.0 landscape.
But as the 2 projects "Go-live" timings do not match, we will be having separate "Production Support" landscape for ECC containing separate DEV & QA system which will be used for Post Go-live production fixes.
So there will be 2 DEVs & 2 QAs for ECC & One Production system. At a time, only one QA will be connected to Prodution.
Do we need similar landscape for BI 7.0 or same DEV BI 7.0 can talk with 2 DEVs ECC 6.0 and same QA BI 7.0 can talk with 2 QA ECC 6.0 ?
What are the complexities of one QA BI talking with 2 QA R/3 source systems ??
    Thanks,
    Bhushan
P.S. We have SAP MDM 5.5 implemented in our landscape which manages master data.

    Thanks Ramesh for the reply.
I agree with you it is not complicated from Basis perspective to create RFCs & source system connections.
I would like to know how complicated it would be for BI Developers to manage data coming from 2 very similar ECC6.0 systems and move it across to Production without trouble.
How will they distinguish which objects are of Production support & which objects belong to current development project ?
How we can guarantee that none of the "non-production object"(which is meant for development or prototype) moves to production via some "production-fix" transport ?
    Thanks,
    Bhushan

  • Is this even possible with a Linksys product?

I am doing an installation at a laundrymat and heres the situation:
This gentleman currently has 1 DSL line coming into a Meraki wireless hub.  If you arent familiar with these, they have no out ports for hardwiring.  This hub takes his one DSL line and splits it on the out to two independent static IP addresses.  He uses one for personal that is secured, and one for wifi for customers to use.  He wants to add a DVR to the system that needs to be hardwired in to a network connection, which as I stated before, would be impossible (I believe) due to the fact there are no out ports on this router.  My question is this, is there a Linksys product that will maintain two seperate static IP addresses so that he can still maintain the 2 virtual lines coming out and also enable me to hook up the DVR?
    Thank you in advance,
    Kevin

I would say that you would have a device at the dsl first then connect everything else up that is needed. It would have to be wired to the dsl.

  • WLC: which software-version support SHA2 certificates for Web Authentification and Web Management ?

    Hello,
I tried to install new SHA2 3th-Party certificates on our WLCs. There are old WiSM1-Boards and 2504 to support our old 1230 Access Points, running 7.0.251.2, which didn't install it, although the config manual for 7.6 and 8.0 say that SHA2 certificates are supported since 7.0.250.0. When I tried to install the SHA2-certificates I get the message "File transfer failed" an the log says:
    *TransferTask: Dec 12 13:22:14.394: #UPDATE-3-CERT_INST_FAIL: updcode.c:1869 Failed to install Webauth certificate. rc = 1
*TransferTask: Dec 12 13:22:14.394: #SSHPM-3-KEYED_PEM_DECODE_FAILED: sshpmcert.c:4085 Cannot PEM decode private key
I tried to install the same certificates on our WiSM2-Boards, running 7.4.121.0 and I failed too. The same certificates could be installed on a 2504 running 8.0.100 without any problems.
In all 3 cases I tried to install unchained certificates for web management and Level 3 chained certificates  for web authentication. I used the following guides to get the certificates (e.g. taken from the config manual 8.0.100):
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/wireless/4400-series-wireless-lan-controllers/109597-csr-chained-certificates-wlc-00.html
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/wireless-mobility/wlan-security/70584-csr-wlc-00.pdf
Which software versions support SHA2 certificates and which didn't ? Is the a list for it ?
    Regards

    Hello,
I solved the problem. First I used a Debian Linux system with Openssl 1.0.1. After I searched the internet using one of the log messages above I found sites which mentioned to use Openssl 0.9.x. So I tried a productive and security fixes Debian Linux System running Openssl 0.9.8 and I succeeded. The wlcs accepted the certificate files and used it after a reboot. The Web GUI still shows a SHA1 Fingerprint, but the certificate signature Algorithm is SHA2:
    Signature Algorithm: sha256WithRSAEncryption
When you check the openssl.org homepage Openssl 0.9.8 is still one of the actual version of openssl and is still available and fixed. But the Openssl Roadmap says:
"We don't want to have to maintain too many branches. This is likely to include a timescale for the EOL of version 0.9.8"
I don't know the differences between certificates made with openssl 0.9.8 and 1.0.1. Is there anybody who can explain it to me ?

  • APO-DP/SNP production support issus

    Hi sap gures
this is suresh in APO-DP/SNP production support, which kind of errors
we got regularly and how to troubleshoot and how to resolve it , please tell me .i am new for the
    production support
    Regards
    Suresh Kumar

    Dear Suresh,
In APO production support many issues can come.
The types of issues are as below:
    1. Data issues  ( this forms major %)
    2. Application issues: Bug in APO application or related applciation,
    3. Process issues: The process it self is not robust designed and issues are occuring
Within above categories,  issues occur in SAP CIF ( core interface ) applciations , Jobs , process chains.
    Issue Resolution:
For resolving the issues, first you will have study business processes implemented in the client's APO systems.
Secondly, you will have to understand APO functionlities and direct these to appropriate resources, if you can not solve.
You can first refer the issue database to check if similar issues occured earlier  for a quick solution.
Otheriwise you can raise a query on SDN forum.
Good monirtoing of the background jobs, process chains, other interafces and promot action to rectify the job failures, helps to reduce the subsequent  issues occuring.
    Regards

  • APO  DP production  support

Qn:  How to prepare for the job of  DP Production support role?
    My situation:
I have a good understanding of the functionality and have gone through the student guide
    TO help you bainstorm:
1/what are the most useful documents that I need to get? Like Blue printing doc, configuration Doc
2.What should be my approach and Plan  for the first week--Like first read extensively all teh documents or first speak to the APO consultant who participated in the implemenation
3.What are the various sources which help me prepare betetr for this role? I am very disappointed at not being able to find any book or documentaton focused on production support issues? Like the common ones running batch jobs etc.....
Ex: SDN forum,it tool box, Any material from help.sap.com
I am just trying to do my best.
Apart from the above issues please feel free to post any other relevant things tat I need to concentrate on
    Thanks a lot

    Hi,
In order to efficiently provide such supports, first of
all, understanding of the business process end to end
    is mandatory.
Afterwards, try understanding the business master
    data, configurations, enhancements etc.,
Later on, understand their pain areas etc., during the
    implementation.
After collecting all such data, work out simulation
results so that during support, these can be extensively
    utilised
