Which of these statements is faster?

Hi all,
Can anyone please tell me which of these two is faster in terms of Performance:
Statement 1:
                      COMMIT AND WAIT.
Statement 2:
  Call FUNCTION 'BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT' .
Kindly reply immediately as this is bit urgent.
Regards,
Vijay

After the system executes the COMMIT WORK statement, it sets the attributes of each persistent object in the ABAP program to initial. (That is, it calls the IF_OS_STATE~INVALIDATE method).
Bapi_transaction_commit... should also not take much time... useing either will not make any significant diff. provided wait time is minimal..

  • Which of these statements about overhead rates are true?...

    Hello SAP-team!
Which of these statements about overhead rates are true and which are false?
    - The costing sheet is entered in the master record of the order
    - Costing sheets consists of base, overhead rate, and credit
    - Overhead cost elements of type 41 are entered in the rate
    - The costing sheet is assigned at controlling area level and is determined automatically by the system
    - Only percentage rates are possible for overhead rates
    ps: thanks to SAP-community!

    Hi,
Which of these statements about overhead rates are true and which are false?
    - The costing sheet is entered in the master record of the order- True
    - Costing sheets consists of base, overhead rate, and credit-True
    - Overhead cost elements of type 41 are entered in the rate-True
    - The costing sheet is assigned at controlling area level and is determined automatically by the system- I think false. Generally cost sheet is defined independently and assigned either thru costing variant or thru orders.
    - Only percentage rates are possible for overhead rates- False. Qty based is also possible

  • Upgrading HD for Sample Streaming: Which of these is better?

    Hello everyone,
I'm in the market for a larger internal SATA drive for sample streaming in Logic. I currently have a Seagate 320GB drive, but NO backup drive! So I'm thinking of using the 320GB as my backup and getting a larger, 500GB sample drive. Should I do this, or do larger drives have problems streaming samples? If yes, which of these would be better suited for sample streaming.

    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Seagate/ST3500630AS/
Thank you very much for any help you can provide!

    Hi Jonathan,
I recently boght a Seagate Barracuda to try it out, mainly for archiving but found it so fast that I got a second as a new audio drive. I now have two of these in my Mac Pro and it flies.
One warning, however. In the UK, they're shipped with a jumper on, which restricts the speed to 1.5, not 3.0 Gbps. Just remove it and you'll get the machine flying at full speed. I don't know why Seagate do this but it's even documented on the drive case (check out the schematic above the jumpers bay). May be the same in the States but it's easy to check. It comes with only the one jumper (no master/slave as on old IDE drives) and remove it so there are none. Fixed.
    Buy with confidence.

  • Looking for a pdf reader which meets these requirements

I am looking for a pdf reader which meets these requirements:
1- Open pdf starting from last page opened during last session
2- Be able to scroll between pages vertically (not horizontally like many current ones do). Vertical scroll should be a continuous smooth scroll without doing a sudden full page pull in. Should behave as if pdf is one single very long page.
3- Should be able to change width of page and lock it. Page should not move sideways. Page width should be remembered so when same pdf is opened, it opens in that width.
4- A fast scroll feature. Useful for pdf's with hundreds of pages.
5- Nice to have feature: when opening the pdf reader, it automatically opens the last pdf file on the last page read.
I have tried all the free pdf readers in the AppStore and none met all these requirements except for two which had these issues:
1- iRead limitation: When screen is touched for more than a second, the page is frozen (locked) and page can't be scrolled. Scrolling is done when doing quick swipes only
2- FileApp limitation: Does not remember last page opened. Does not remember last width set. Fast scroll doesn't work properly when width is other than default.

    iAnnotate additional points
iAnnotate works with DropBox to download and upload edited PDFs. It does all the other same things, email, USB, and iTunes etc. but it also can download PDFs from any web site.
You can transfer hundreds if not thousands of files at one whack using the AIJ Utility on your desktop.
If you transfer a large number of files you have to plan not to use iAnnotate a while as it has an index function that indexes all the text into a master 'dictionary' so it can do searches for data and find PDFs for you. This indexing takes hours if you transfer hundreds of moderate size PDFs at one time.
The biggest PDF I have feed it was a Gimp manual at close to a thousand pages.
Remember the scratch pad ram is only 256 MB in the current iPad. You can cash iAnnotate if you do something really dumb with such a large file. Other applications also grab and hold onto chunks of this ram in the iPad so it is best to force a memory reset before doing anything that is going to max out that ram.
iAnnotate allows you to have more than one PDF open at a time and you can tab between all the open PDFs in a blink just as you would in a tabbed web browser.
If you zoom a page larger than the width of the screen it slides around. Less than the width of the screen the page locks in the size while scrolling which is smooth between pages.
iAnnotate is a very well made product for dealing with PDFs. Annotations display in Goodreader and in the Mac OS Preview.

  • Which of these two raid cards will work better?

Which of these cards would be better suited for video editing:
    Areca ARC-1882i
    LSI 9265-8i
Both are approximately the same price and just in my price range.  I will have four 1TB HDD's that I want to put in a raid array.  Also assume either one will work with my X79 motherboard.

    JobJoe,
I can confirm that ShadowProtect Desktop Editon works great with Areca images for both backup and restore. I have even backed up a RAID OS/boot array from the Areca controller and restored it to a single drive connected to an Intel motherboard controller - how cool is that! It's insanely fast too; imaging my pretty fast RAID 0 boot/OS/programs array with 61GB only takes 2:36 minutes (23.3 GB/min, 279 MB/s, 2232 Mbits/sec). Note too that the affordable "Desktop edition" allows you to any drive on your LAN; I'm pretty sure that to do a restore with this version you can't restore from the LAN, however I've copied the restore image down to a USB hard drive (from the LAN) and then restored to a PC as "stand-alone".
Regarding the HD Tune Results your results are for all practical purposes the same; you can ignore the maximum read speed with the cache on (that's from the controller) for the purposes of benchmarking your drive speed. Regarding the scale difference, I find the "autoscaling" only annoying, but I'm not aware of a way to override it.
Finally, your WD 2TB's "tail off" (slow down) less than most rotating drives I've ever tested using HD Tune Pro; what is the exact model # and firmware version that you are using?

    Jim

  • Which of these 2 laptops would be my best choice for editing video?

I am going to get a new laptop mainly to use for LR and PS but I also want to be able to edit video.  Which of these 2 laptops is my best option...
    ASUS ROG G751JT-CH71
    Intel Core i7-4710HQ 2.5 GHz
    16 GB DDR3
1000 GB 7200 rpm Hard Drive
    17.3-Inch Screen, Nvidia GTX970M 3GB GDDR5
    Windows 8.1
    Or
Acer Aspire V17 Nitro Black Edition VN7-791G-730V
Intel Core i7-4720HQ Processor (2.6 GHz)
    16 GB DDR3 RAM
1 TB 5400 rpm Hard Drive, 256 GB Solid-State Drive
17.3-Inch Screen, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M
    Windows 8.1, 4-hour battery life
Additionally, if you feel there is a better choice for $1500 or less, I would love to hear that advice as well.  I would really appreciate your help in making this decision.  Thanks!

Of the 2 the Asus everyday. You won't notice the difference in the CPU's but you will more so with the GPU's as the 970 is a decent step up from the 860m. Add in extra SSD/HDD and RAM (I believe it goes up to 32GB but check), and see if they have allocated the 16GB as 2x8GB sticks or 4x4GB sticks.
Other option I would suggest looking at a custom PC builder such as Cyberpower, Xotic or other (no affiliations, heck I don't even live in the same country). You will be able to get a much more tailored system with a better upgrade path within your budget. You will get better CPU, better GPU, RAM options up to 32GB and more flexible drive and msata combinations and most importantly some flexibility with the way the system is configured. Some are re-brands of popular gaming laptops, some are from the more custom line of chassis and some are just tweaked versions of your off the shelf names. Plus you don't have to crack the thing open to replace drives etc. that you are paying for but won't use due to slow speeds and the warranty implications that can come from doing this
Not saying buy this as you need to shop around and find what suits you best but as an example this is from Xotic.

  • Which of these iMacs would be best for running After Effects?

Hello, pretty simple question, which of these 2 iMac configurations would be best suited for using After Effects and other video editing software like Premiere or Final Cut Pro X?
    Option 1 - 21.5 inch
3.1GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 3.9GHz
    16GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2X8GB
    1TB Fusion Drive
    NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 1GB GDDR5
    Option 2 - 27 inch
3.4GHz Quad-core Intel Core i5, Turbo Boost up to 3.8GHz
    8GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2X4GB
    1TB Serial ATA Drive @ 7200 rpm
    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 775M 2GB GDDR5
For some reason Apple don't offer more than 1GB of dedicated video ram in anything but the maxed out 27inch. Personally, I’m not fussed about the bigger screen and I would say that having the faster processor, double the ram and a fusion drive would be more beneficial than the extra gig in the video card but I’m not 100% sure, what do you guys think? Thanks.

You need 16GB of ram for AE. Whether you get the 27 or 21 you still need that much ram. AE only uses the Ray Tracer for specific processes that are often not used. I would not worry so much about the GPU with this. Take the higher CPU and atleast 16GB of ram though 32GB is ideal.

If you do a significant amount of video editing the larger display is nice but not absolutely necessary. I’d also recommend an SSD or Fusion drive rather than the stock mechanical drive which really is dog slow. If you choose an SSD 8GB will be plenty though 16GB is better if you go with the smaller model.

  • Performance wise, a select statement is faster on a view or on a table??

Performance wise, a complex (with multi join) select statement is faster on a view or on a table??

    Hi,
the purpose of a view is not to provide performance benefits, it's basically a way to better structure database code and data access. A view is nothing but a stored query. When the optimizer sees references to a view in a query, it tries to merge it (i.e. replace the view with its definition), but it some cases it may be unable to do so (in presence of analytic functions, rownum pseudocolumn etc.) -- in such cases views can lead to a performance degradation.
If you are interested in performance, what you need is a materialized view, which is basically a table built from a query, but then you need to decide how you would refresh it. Please refer to the documentation for details.
    Best regards,

What is ESB and OSB? why OSB when ESB avail? when to use which of these? Which is recommendabale?

ESB (Enterprise Serice Bus) is backbone of SOA. OSB (Oracle Service Bus) is an ESB product. Before the acquisition of BEA, Oracle was using OESB (Oracle Enterprise Service Bus) as a service bus but after that Oracle renamed ALSB (Aqualogic Service Bus) to OSB. • Which of these stereos will work best w/ my iPhone 4 in my 2003 Chevy S10?

Hey guys, I'm looking for a new stereo deck for my 2003 Chevy S10 that will work with my iPhone 4. Which of these do you think would do the trick the best? Thanks a lot!
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/part-finder/slide-show/2003/Chevrolet/S10/ref=aupf_dp_lf_lad_14?ie=UTF8&partsNode=10980621&carId=001

You're probably not going to get a good answer in here as this is a forum specifically for the iPhone, and not car stereo head units. My suggestion is to read the user reviews on Amazon or Crutchfield.com and make sure the unit you're interested in works with iP4. It seems with each OS update, some car stereo units no longer work with the iP4.

  • Which of these Macs would be a better machine?

I am at the crossroads of getting a new Mac and I have two choices. Pretending everything else between the macs is equal besides what I am about to describe, which of these would be better?
Choice 1. 15" Macbook Pro w/ 2.16 Core 2 Duo processor and 2GB of memory
    or
Choice 2. 13" current issue 2 GHz Core 2 Duo Macbook w/ 4 GB of memory
Why would the one you pick be better over the other?
I'm not to savy with computer hardware so any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!!

You are correct that many MBP owners have no problems and that the MBP is a better machine. I too had no problems for the first year and then within two months I have been plagued with unproductive days dealing with a computer that doesn't work. The issue is that for those of us that have these problems there doesn't seem to be a fix even with Applecare. There seems to be a trend with keyboard issues and Apple has not figured it out and provided a reasonable fix. If I spend the money and get a new keyboard I may be looking at the same problem if the keyboards are flawed. If you make your living with your computer sending it in to Apple for a week or two to get a problem fixed is not a great solution. I just think that the chance of getting a lemon in the MBP line should be factored into the decision. Maybe a new MBP has these problems worked out but to buy an older used MBP from the same vintage as mine would be unwise in my opinion.
