Which portal server is my app using?

Hello all,
In my jsp dyn page java application, what code would I use to figure out which physical portal server I am connected to? I realize that I could find the server node number from the saplb_* cookie, but I really don't want to mess with having to translate that.

I have created the .portal file and i have included the instance of the .portlet file in the portal page. When i run .portal file on the server it will throw the below exception.

My wife and I have one Apple ID through which we have individually purchased apps for her iPad and my iPad 2. We both now have individual iCloud accounts, and she now has an iPhone. For business reasons we now have to separate the apps under our individual iCloud accounts, but will maintain a single Apple ID for purchases. How can we separate the apps?

Hi Shadow,
The apps are forever tied to the Apple ID that they were purchased under. Your iCloud accounts are also Apple IDs, so although you can sync the apps to your individual device via iTunes, you will be syncing them to the devices, not to iCloud.
Since you are still purchasing everything under one Apple ID, then I'm presuming that they live in a single iTunes library on your computer or Mac? If that is the case, then you would just want to:
Hook up a device to the Mac or computer
Select the device when it shows up under devices
Once selected, the Device Profile screens display to the right - click on the Apps tab, and select which ones you want on that device.
Also check all the other profile pages to make sure they are set up to sync the things you want to sync to that device.
On the info page, you will see that you can sync Contacts & Calendars via iCloud or via iTunes. If you want a single source for contacts & calendars for both of your devices, sync them via iTunes. If you want your own sets of contacts & calendars, sync them via iCloud.
Do you have iCloud set up on the computer or Mac? If so, which iCloud account are you planning on using?
Some of the decisions you will want to make will depend on how you have your computer or Mac configured in conjunction with iTunes. One Apple ID, but one or two User Accounts for the computer or Mac? iCloud on the computer or Mac? What do you want to share and to not share?

Which font does the Dictionary app use?

I've got a new Mac Pro, and the font for the Dictionary app is incorrect - it's a sans serif, and pretty ugly, whereas before it was a much more attractive serif font. I did a clean install, so unless I've got a corrupted font, there's no reason why this should happen. Does anyone know which font the Dictionary app should use?

On my Mac, the primary font for Dictionary is the Baskerville family of fonts, which are serif fonts. The font itself is the Baskerville.dfont file in the Macintosh HD > LIbrary > Fonts directory. It also employs Helvetica Neue, a sans-serif font, for some elements of definitions.
Dictionary does not have a preference for changing the default font, just the font size. The actual specification of Baskerville is done in the Default.csss file for Dictionary, in the Resources subfolder of the Contents folder of the Dictionary.app bundle (Control-click Dictionary and select "Show Package Contents"). Dictionary is actually a stripped-down Web browser and its documents are formatted in HTML. The Default.css file is the Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) used for formatting the appearance of Dictionary definitions, including the fonts to use by default.
If you don't have the fonts specified in its CSS, it would substitute other fonts.

Authentication in weblogic portal server 8.1 sp2 using external LDAP

I am trying to use external LDAP for authentication.
I have configured the ActiveDirectoryAuthenticator giving the necessary
values
( and added
"-Dcom.bea.p13n.usermgmt.AuthenticationProviderName=ActiveDirectoryAuthentic
ator" in startWeblgoic.cmd )
and can see the users and the groups from my LDAP provider in the admin
console and in the admin portal's "users and groups".
A set of users are given permission to access the restricted site and those
users are visible in the global role with the permission.
The web.xml is configured for BASIC auth-method, and the role is
<externally-defined/> in weblogic.xml.
Now when I access a restricted page, I am shown a dialog prompt to key in
the username and password.
Even when I key in the valid credentials, the restricted page is not shown
and an "Unauthorized xxx" 401 access error is thrown.
Any clue, on what i am missing.?

Assuming your application is a WebLogic Portal application, then yes you would definitely need to install WLP 8.1. WLP version 8.1 is the only version of WLP that will run on WLS/WLW version 8.1.
In order to obtain the product installer, you'll need to contact Oracle Support and file a request. It is not available for download from any Oracle public site. Only version 10.3 is available for download.

How can I create a portal server authentication user with a batch

hi,
I am trying to import users into the portal server emulating the create user procedure as plumtree. What I cannot understand at the moment is which classes are involved in the sequence of creating a user.
the problem starts from the fact that I have used a synch WS and it works but, being the table a dummy one and the users to be authenticated by the portal server, I couldn't use that synch as a definitive.
I tryed using plumtree.server.CIPTUser class with no success. could not understand how to actually create the user after setting the parameters to the object.
Is there any documentation explaining how to create the portal server emulation of create user. this could be usefull for all those cases when there is no central repository of user and passwords.

BEA Portal 7.0 configure to use ActiveDirectoryAuthenticator

Could anyone have any ideas how or show me the documentation where I can change
the Sample Portal Server to use a different Realm in the Portal Server ?
I have read the portal server is by default using Database Realm, which config
file and setting in the portal server dicatate it to use the Database Realm.
In that place, can I just simply change it o use other Realm such as the CompatibilityRealm.
I have added the ActiveDirectoryAuthenticator in the CompatibilityRealm that is
come with Weblogic 7.0.2. I understand I need to added the sysadmin group and
sysadministrator user to the ActiveDirectory server.
Any help is greatly appreciated !!

Correction: These are *.epa files, not *.ear files. In our DEV system, I can use SDM and look at the *.ear files that were deployed but on our QA & PROD systems, we use export/import of *.epa files and therefore there is no SDM involved.
I found the following comment in "How to ... Transport EP 6.0 Content" on Pg 21, "It is not possible to undeploy a transport package from the SDM since the SDM cannot access PCD tables to remove deployed content."
So, this leads me to believe that in QA and PROD there is no "undeploy". So is it thorough to go to Portal Content Directory and just right click > Delete on a folder to remove custom content we've imported?

Portal server Installation

I am trying to install Portal server in my machine using BS_2005_SR3_SAP_Installation_Master.
At the time of installation I didnu2019t get the "SAP Systems" Folder in the SAP GUI list screen at the "Choose Service" step to define "Central System".
Please share your view on the issue. I'm using portal; server dumps in place of istallation CDs, which i don't have.
If possible please share installation steps and proper installation master for 32bit OS.

Love the wiki portlet feature in sun portal server .. It uses jspwiki and has xinha HTML Editor (with insert portlet option where in you can insert any portlet channel within your wiki page)
If you are considering more community features then probably you should have a look at 7.1u1 (to be released soon) which is web2.0 rich

We need to configure SSL for Portal Server. We are using J2EE 6.20 Patch 25 and EP6SP2P4. The ITS is already using https and it creats lots of Session issues since Portal is not in https.
Is there any OSS Note or How to guide to configure Portal to use SSL.

Thanx for your Post, I have a Question, we will use CISCO for load balancing and SSL termination but I have a big issue, the URL in the portal applciation is always the same ant the URL in the borwser, I guess al the other URL´s are in the Frames, how will we configure the SSL termination for the login page in example if the URL in the Browser appears always the same?

MVC implimentation with Sun ONE Portal server 6.0

Hi friends,
As I am starting to build a few channels for the Portal Server. What I want is to have a JSP channel (JSPProvider), that initiates the first page, but the anything that gets submited by this page will be controlled by a servlet that invokes model (somthing like struts). So far, I haven't been able to do this as I don't know how to with the portal. What I've managed is to hack it by submiting back to itself with some parameters and then use <jsp:include/> to include a different page.
As you know, I know it's a hack, I'd like to know if there is a proper way to do this? such as somehow extends DesktopServlet so when we do <form action="subclassofdt"> it'll work OK?
Note that, I want the page to stay within the portal (not opening a new browser and then using normal web server stuff to handle this). The portal server that we are using is on a web server (not on the application server).
Please help, some code would be really helpful.

Again, thanks Alex for the reply. What I am confusing about is how do we get the desktop servlet to renders JSP pages in the portal.
For example Test.jsp

If we do this, how does the desktop servlet renders the page when we click on Submit? It'll just have to go to a new page (without portal context or portal pages and just normal web pages).

MVC with portal 6.0 :
- JSP Channel as "View",
- uses JavaBean as "Controller"
- to interact with "Model".
Now instead of JavaBean you have servlet
running on the same container. It seems, that
you only need a JSP-proxy.
(Also you can try to forward in the jsp)

The problem with integration of struts based
applications is usually the project funding :-)
There is no generic struts provider, only some
custom build pieces...
I guess that is the reason, why "zero effort" proxy
of a struts application via IFrame channel is the
most implemented integration.

Portal Server 3.0SP3A + PDC + IE5.5

I've enable the PDC auth in portal server 3.0sp3a and use client cert. auth. to the gateway & portal using IE 5.5. After the auth. is succeed and a random period of time, the browser prompt me to enter password again to present the client cert. for auth. Is there any workaround to overcome this problem without changing my IE security setting (i.e. change the setting that dosen't require password for using the client cert).

Is the DesktopServlet displayed after the first time
you enter your password ?
If the DesktopServlet is being displayed, do any of
the URLs or applications being rendered require the
certificate?
Can you enable "message" debugging on your server and
tail the iwtAuthCert log during your login and paste
the entries for us to view?

How can I integrate UWC Webmail with Portal Server. I"m using SJS Portal Server 6 2005Q1. I've configured a CHANNEL extending a IFRAME provider in order to open the webmail in the same window. But when I click on the "UWC Webmail" tab the Portal Server gets the user credentials and starts loading the webmail and stops without any error. If I open another window or tab it works proving the authentication process works fine.

Have you tried using the UWC channels that the portal ships out of the box?
Portal Server 6 2005Q1 ships with a channel - UWCMail. Add this channel to your desktop, and provide the Messaging server details and user credentials in the channel edit screen. This channel will display a list of emails and also provide links to open the UWC webmail.
Look at the "To Configure New Communications Express Channels" section of this guide - http://docs.sun.com/source/819-2201/index.html. The communications products (Messaging, Calendar, UWC) will have to configured as explained in this guide for the single signon to work.
