Which way is better to reverse a key figure sign, update rule or KF prop.?

We are trying to reverse a key figure sign and have got two options:
1. In Update Rule by using formula to make this key figure * 1-, or
2. In key figure property of query design mode, there is a checkbox of "Reverse +/- Signs".
Which one is better for the above two options?
Thanks

Hi,
1. In Update Rule by using formula to make this key figure * 1-, or
A: If you want to update data permanently in Data Targets then go for update rules.
2. In key figure property of query design mode, there is a checkbox of "Reverse +/- Signs".
A: The data is not updated in Data Targets but while displaying in Reports it will display the sign.
That is upto you and business requirements.
Thanks

  • Which way is better to iDVD: iMovie '08 to media browser, or to dv stream?

    Hello,
I did a 20 second clip test of this, but there wasn't a clear winner, so I'll ask here for advice from those who are more knowledgable on this topic:
For creating a DVD with footage from iMovie '08:
    1) Share via media browser as "large", then add chapters in Garageband and use to iDVD to burn, OR, 2) Export using QT; movie to dv stream, then import to iMovie HD, create chapters, use iDVD to burn?
Which is better? Or is there another solution?
    Thanks!!

    Hi
    a. Don't really know
    b. iMovie'08 & 09 are not the optimal tool to handle intrelaced streamingDV
eg from miniDV tape or from A/D-box and old VHS/VCR tapes.
Due to it's way to discard every second line - resolution is severly lowered.
To get best quality possibly on DVD is to use either
    • iMovie version 1 to HD6 - or -
    • FinalCut - any version
    c. DVD in it self is limited as to SD-video quality = old TV and it doesn't
matter if one use iDVD or DVD Studio Pro - It can't be better than SD

  • Adding a new key figure to Info Cube

Can I add a new key figure to an existing Info cube in which data is loaded?
Assume that In Info Cube we have the following.
    Stu Id -- Characteristic
Maths , Physics , Chemistry -- Key figures
These are the info objects which are already available and transfer rules are already available for the same in the infosource.
Could any one let me know how to add one more new key figure (total ) , which is the sum of the three marks to the Info Cube and populate the data in to the same.
I have tried the following steps ,  but could not get the solution.
1). Create a new key figure info object (total).
2). Add the same to the communication and pull the same into transfer rules of the existing info source and activate the same.
3). Add the new key figure to the info cube.
4). Open transfer rules for the info cube and change the mode from NO updation to Addition for the particular key figure (total).
When I perform the 4th step it is giving a red symbol beside the key figure in update rules and I'm not able to activate the same.
Any help on how to add key figures to update rules and transfer rules is highly appreciated and points would be assigned.
    Thanks

    1.add new Keyfigure to Infocube.
2.Go to Update rules> go to update type of that Keyfigure>selct formula in update method>create new formula>here you can add up your 3 keyfigures-->OK.
activate update rules and InfoProvider.Check all are active or not..
by using Export generate datasouce ,you populate data(historical data)  to new keyfigure as well. Then you have to delete historical data requests.
or iyou can create formula in query designer as well as srinivas suggested.that would be better option.

  • Summing up key figure in Cube - data load from ODS

    Hello Gurus,
I am doing a data load from ODS to cube.
The records in ODS are at line-item level, and all needs to be summed up at header level. There is only one key-figure. ODS has header and line-item fields.
I am loading only header field data ( and not the item-field data) from ODS to Cube.
I am expecting only-one record in cube ( for all the item-level records) with all the key-figures summed up. But couldn't see that.
Can anyone please explain how to achieve it.
    I promise to reward points.
    =====
    Example to elaborate my point.
    In ODS
    Header-field  item-field   quantity
    123                301          10
    123                302           20
    123                303           30
    Expected record in Cube
    Header-field       Quantity
       123                    60

    Hello Oscar and Paolo.
Thanks for the reply. I am using BW 7.0
    Paolo suggested:
    >>If you don't add item number to cube and put quantity as adition in update rules >>from ODS to cube it works.
I did that still I get 3 records in cube.
    Oscar Suggested:
    >>What kind of aggregate do you have for your key figure in update rules (update >>or no change)?
It is "summation". And it cannot be changed. (Or at least I do not know how to change it.)
There are other dimensions in the cube - which corresponds to the field(s) in ODS.
But, I just mentioned these two (i.e. header and item-level) for simplicity.
    Can you please help?
    Thank you.

  • Planning Book Macro which can read different key figures from data views

    Hi Experts,
I am looking for help to create a Planning book level macro which is having capabilities to read different Key Figure across the different Data Views. For example DataView 1 has Sales Orders and Data view 2 has Forecast and I want put in Data view 3 the netted numbers from SO and Forecast.
Please provide me some quick pointers.
    Regards,
    Rahul Mohnot

    Hi,
Not only is it the easiest way, it is the only way to do it as Laurence has put it. As you can see, macro workbooks are created for a Planning Book/Dataview combination.

  • ECC Receiver system config change: Which way is good?

    Hi,
I have 120 plus interfaces as IDoc receivers/sender running in production.
The existing ECC system [SAPabc] will be down for patch updates and we need to point different ECC system [SAPxyz].
Please let me know which way is better to handle this situation.
    a) Change each and every receiver channel details with SAPxyz and receiver agreement in the ID component and once revert back to SAPabc once it is up and running.
    b) Change the logic system name in the SLD and point the existing SAPabc system details to SAPxyz and rever back once the SAPabc system is back and running.
Much appreciated if I get the steps to change the system details in SLD. [not much worked in SLD ]
    Thanks
    Ray..

    Hi Ray,
There may be other places also to be changed in your case.
    Check the below wiki.
    http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/XI/ConnectionSettingsbetweenECCandPIsystem
    However, i have few questions.
    1) How long is this stop gap arrangement?
    2) What happens when the main system is live again? how does the system get updated with the postings that happened in its absense?

  • Restriction on a key figure

    Hi experts,
I need to write a BEx query which has a restriction on a key figure. For example it should display only those records and their details for which the invoice amount is 0. Where invoice amount is a key figure.
I tried adding a condition but it just hides the all the rows and still dispays the total results from the multi. Is there any other way where I could restrict my key figure in the same way as we restrict characteristics (Characteristic restrictions)??
    Thanks

    Hi,
In the below link, there is a similar example handled.

  • How to avoid aggregation on a key figure

    Hi SDN,
Is there a way to avoid aggregation on a key figure? We have a situation where we have multiple records for a particular order/item. So a key figure like Net Price simply adds up which is wrong. We just want to repeat it and not aggregate.
    Any solution?
    Thanks for the help.
    SM

    Hi,
    Try this,
    in InfoObject Aggregation Tab:
    Aggregation :SUM
Exception Aggregation: No Aggregation (X, If more than one records Occurs).
else try with more than one value

  • Documentation for Formula Key Figure

    Hi BW Gurus,
I have a Formula Key Figure which has been defined in a local key figure structure. This key figure is based on a two standard Key figures which exist in the Cube.
How can I create Documentation for this formula key figure, so that user can see documentation after right click in the Key figure in the query result.
I have tried followings, but did not work.
    1) Go to Properities of the query and go to Documentation . In the next screen, create documentation directly using the technical name of the Formula key figure.
    2) Go to Documentation in RSA1 and create documentation using the same way(technical name).
In the query result, I am getting error " Query element does not exist in database".
    Thanks in advance.
    Mridul

    hi ,
Probably you should go for Cell definitions. But if you use Cell definitions, then query will slow down. But if you need the way which you described, it can be acheived by cell definitions.
    Hope it helps.......

  • Available characteristics and key figures in drilldown reports

    Hi,
I'm wondering which table /structure defines what characteristics and key figures are available for drilldown reports (eg. G/L), and if it is possible to add new chars/key figs.
I reckon there must be a structure resembling Report Painter libraries, where you can select fields from a reporting table. I just can't find that structure anywhere.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Best regards,
    Jarkko Kuusisto

For GL the menu path is Financial accounting-general ledger accounting-G/L accounts-Line items-line item display.
Here you select the way the line item display is set up. Also you can select the fields you want and additional fields as well. Some tcodes range from O7F1 and O7FE.
This varies by module but is generally in the line item or information systems section in configuration.
Go to GR21 and drop down the tables and you can see all the tables availble for report painter.
You can add tables to report painter in sm30 in table T804A. That makes it availble for report painter.
please assign points. It is appreciated.

  • Time as a key figure

    Hi,
Can you please let me know the possible ways in which we can define time as a key figure, instead of a chaarcteristic ? My requriment is to have a start and end time, and want to calulate the difference between them as the effort. Please note that i would be using this as an input-ready keyfigure in a planning report. Anypointers will be highly appreciated.

    Hi
You can create a keyfigure in RSD1-->In the Type/Unit Tab Select Time.
And Select the Data Type as TIMS.

  • Difference between cumulative and non-cumulative key figures

    Hi,
What is the difference between cumulative and non-cumulative key figures and under what conditions they are used. What is snapshort and where it is used.

    Hi.............
Basically the key figures are of two types cumulative and non cumulative.
Cumulative are the normal one which you use always and they always bring the new values of the key figures in the delta that is if suppose A has value 10 and after change the new value is 20 then you will use cumulative key figures there, and your delta( new value) will bring 20.
but suppose your key figures field only the change in the prior value that is in this case the delta in the key figure value will bring 10 (20-10- change of 10 )as new value in the key figure A then you will have to model it through the non cumulaitve key figures.
    Now
    1) Cumulative is for the first case that is if the key figure alwyas brings the new values of the key figure and not the change sin the key fiures value.
2)NCum. value with NCUM value change:
In this case ther is only one field which brings the changes for a particualr key figure and you ahve to define that key figure as non cumulative.
Ex: In case of stock only one filed brings both ingoing value and outgoing value so 10 ,-4,100,-34.....
In this case you will this option and use the key figure here in the space provided.
    3) In this case you haev two separate key figures one for the inflow of stocks and one for the outflow of the stocks.
you use one key figure for the inflow and one key figure for the outflow.
The main key figure autiomatically takes care of the logic and gives the correct output upon the summation
net value of stocks( inflow- outflow).
Also do remember in this case the key figure for inflow and out flow are the basic key figures that is cumulative key figures.
A non-cumulative is a non-aggregating key figure on the level of one or more objects that is always displayed in relation to time. Examples of non-cumulatives include headcount, account balance and material inventory. here the aggregation of key figure is based on the another info object
There are two different ways to define non-cumulative key figures:
    • Non-cumulative key figure with non-cumulative changes:
Before you can define the non-cumulative key figure, an additional cumulative key figure containing the non-cumulative change must exist as an InfoObject.
    • Non-cumulative key figure with inflows and outflows
There has to be two additional cumulative key figures as InfoObjects for non-cumulative key figures - one for inflows and one for outflows. The cumulative key figures have to have the same technical properties as the non-cumulative key figure, and the aggregation and exception aggregation have to be SUM.
    Features of non-cummulative key figures
    A non-aggregating key Figure.
Records are not summarized for Reporting
Exception Aggregation is being applied on these key figures on the level of one or more info objects usually with time .
Examples: Head Count, Account balance, Material stock
    consider simple senario
Date Net Stock Quantity Sales Revenue
    01.02.2005 40 1000
    02.02.2005 50 2000
    03.02.2005 25 3000
this is the query output if stock quantity has treated as cummulative and non-cummulative key figures
if stock quantity taken as a cummulative key figure
Date NET STOCK QUANTITY SALES REVENUE
    01.02.2005 30 1000
    02.02.2005 50 2000
    03.02.2005 20 3000
    RESULT 100 6000
in the above result the key figure has aggregated to the total value that wont give sense to the net stock quantity
if stock quantity taken as non-cummulative key figure
Date Net Stock Quantity (LAST) Sales Revenue
    01.02.2005 30 1000
    02.02.2005 50 2000
    03.02.2005 20 3000
    RESULT 20 6000

  • Customer Ext Variable is NOT working correctly in the Restricted Key Figure

    Hi all,
I have created a variable ZVCBLMTH (Period from 01/1996 to Last Month) with reference to
0CALMONTH  and it will be populated through  Customer Exit and it works fine.
In the selection for 0CALMONTH, I gave the range as '05/2008' to '08/2008' and this new
variable  passed the value of  range as '01/1996' to '04/2008' in RSRT.
The properties of the variable are:
Type of Variable -  Characteristic, Processing by - Customer Exit, Variable Represents - Interval
              and Variable is - Optional.
No change in the result after changing the 'Variable is' from Optional to 'Mandatory'.
This variable is used in Restricted Key Figure to calculate the number of matching records between
01/1996 & 04/2008 and somehow it is not recognizing this variable and NOT passing the results correctly.
But, there are records with 0CALMONTH between 01/1996 & 04/2008.
How could I test that which value is passed into the Restricted Key Figure for this variable, PLEASE ?
       Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Venkat.

    Hi Clemens Li
I agreed on your point. When we define the Internal table the type for element EQUNR & QUMNR , we are referring the SAP data element for EQUNR, QMNUM field.
Our doubt is even though we refer the standard data element, in the ALV display, it shows with leading zeros and also it creates problems in the filtering and in the filter window all values instead of unique nos.
    Hi Abhii
I have given below the fieldcat coding.
Friends, can you kindly clarify the above said problems. Since we use SAP ECC 6.0 any notes or patches apply is required. ( this is the basic functionality in ALV, that is my doubt).
        wls_fieldcat-col_pos   = wpv_pos.
        wls_fieldcat-fieldname = wpv_champ.
        wls_fieldcat-tabname   = wlc_tabname.
      wls_fieldcat-seltext_s = wls_fieldcat-seltext_m
        wls_fieldcat-seltext_l = wpv_libelle.
        wls_fieldcat-ddictxt   = 'L'.
        wls_fieldcat-no_out    = wv_no_out.
        APPEND wls_fieldcat TO gt_fieldcat.
    Kind regards,
    Jegathees P.

  • How to show filter values of restricted key figures in BEx Analyzer?

    Hi,
    I have following report.
                         Quantity USA        Quantity China
    Product           100                        150
Quantity USA is a restricted key figure using key figure 'quantity' and a restriction on characteristic 'country' = USA
Quantity China is a restricted key figure using key figure 'quantity' and a restriction on characteristic 'country' = China
I notice that when I put only one of these resticted key figures into the query, there is a line in the filter area of the report in the BEx Analyzer that shows the characteristic 'country' and the value on which it's restricted in the restricted key figures.
    E.g.:
    Country          USA
                         Quantity USA
    Product           100
If I put both restricted key figures in the query, this line is not shown.
Does anyone of you know how I can display this line again when using multiple restricted key figures like this in the query?
