While traveling in Ireland and riding on hotel WiFi, emails sent from iPhone not always received -- some were, some were not.  All were shown as sent on my iPhone.

While traveling in Ireland last week, I was using my iPhone 5 to access my incoming email and to send email.  All of my outgoing emails are shown as sent but not all were received.  Not a function of whether emails were replies or particular addressees -- some emails to same addressees received, others not.  Help would be appreciated.

That sounds like a local WiFi issue...can you login to the email server of your email provider?  If so, you can check and see if the emails you sent reached the server.
Providers like Verizon, and AT&T, and Comcast in the US have direct login capability for subscribers...there you can check your account activity and see if the emails were received by the server to send on.  The iPhone merely shows you that the email left the iPhone, nothing about what happened after that.

    Not exactly sure what you mean by contaminated, but there is currently no known e-mail that could impact the Apple Mail application as you have described.
    Without knowing who your e-mail provider is and what type of account (IMAP or POP3) we can't advise you as to what those settings might be.
    One way to fix it would be to delete the account from Apple Mail Preferences->Accounts and add it back.

  • No Service and no GPS while Traveling in Switzerland and Italy

    I have a 3gs and my wife has a 3g. We went on vacation and when we landed in Switzerland her phone connected immediately to Swisscom without a problem She could use it just as if here in the U.S. My phone however was a different story. I had jailbroken it and unlocked it, my network is AT&T, and on ios 4.0.1. No problems in the U.S. When I turned it on it connected to Swisscom for about a minute, then lost the connection and could never connect. It showed "No Service". I decided to install ios 4.1 and write over the jailbreak but that didn't make any difference. We each had data turned off. I couldn't even use any GPS apps because the GPS wouldn't find satellites unless I had a WI-FI connection to the internet. Then it worked fine, but that meant I had to be in the hotel. Any thoughts on either of these issues. Oh, soon as I landed in Philly it connected to AT&T.

    First I'd suggest calling AT&T to see if your account for your iPhone was set up for roaming abroad.
    Secondly I wouldn't jailbreak your iPhone, and unlocking it by hacking it could also cause unforeseen issues.

    OK, try this: First make sure that all anti-virus software & any firewalls are completely turned off...nothing running. Then do the following:
    Turn your phone off...in your case, it's already off, so proceed: Leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, iTunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still don’t see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new.

    Double click the thumbnails you want in Bridge to open in Photoshop.
    You can also first open the Image Processor and select a folder that you keep your files in. You do not have to open them first.

    Here is a safe way to look at an email which you think is suspicious:
    * right click on the message and select 'Save As'
    * the file name will be the email subject followed by an extension of .eml
    * store it in a folder you can find easily, such as your Documents
    * using your file explorer, right click on the file name and open it with Notepad or a similar text editor (NOT Thunderbird!)
    * even though the format is not easy to read, you should be able to see who sent it to you, and also read the message text.
    Since you are looking at the message in a text editor, there is no chance a link can activate something bad. I have used this method many times, and have found several spoofs of email names of my friends.

    I would point out that I did say...
    Of course the Contacts List has to have people listed in it.
    The Error seems to be that you have not even got an My Card.
    The OS when the computer is brand new and you set up the first Admin Account should create at least once Card entry for the Address Book/Contacts which has the Head and Shoulders icon (the My Card)
    The does presume the the first account on the Mac doers have a person's First name and Last name to work with.
    Of course not everyone sets things up this way.
    Anyhow
    To Check the Contacts List open the app.
    Go to the Preferences.
    Go to the Accounts section.
    This should list at least two "accounts
    One is for Syncing with iCloud and the other is for storing the Info on the Mac itself
    In System Preferences > iCloud you can only set up one Apple ID to be the iCloud ID.
    If you do or have changed this you may have extra accounts in the Contacts > Preferences > Accounts

    OK my family now has (2) Ipad2.  Mine and my wifes.  We do NOT want a second apple account but we want to use facetime.  Both pads will ring like it is making a call but the other pad will not recieve the call.
    I'm sure I'm not the only person with one account and two apple products.  Can someone please let me know how to get these to ipads talking to one another so that while we are traveling we can utilize facetime?

    No you do not need two Apple ID's. This is what I did on my iPod Touch and my iPad using my one and only Apple ID.
    I used my Apple ID which is my main email address associated with my ID as the email address that I can be reached on the iPad so essentially all I did on the iPad was turn FaceTime on in the settings and let that email address be verified for FaceTime on the iPad.
    On the iPod Touch I turned on FaceTime in the settings and then under - You can be reached for video calls at - I added another email address that I have with AOL. Then I went to the inbox of that AOL email address and there was an email from Apple with a link that I tapped on to finish the verification process. I can't recall exactly what it said, but it was very easy to follow the instructions to verify the address.
    Then I went back to the FaceTime settings on the Touch and removed my Apple ID email address from - You can be reached for videos calls at ... You have to remove this email address so that you do not end up calling yourself. FaceTime will always revert to the first email address in the settings so that is why you have to remove the Apple ID email address in the one device.
