  • White box where swf should be DW CS5.

Now I have another issue. All I want to do is have this site working properly for a select audience. It's a mess otherwise. For some reason I get a white box where my SWF should be. It's important because it' my navigation (another bad idea). It works on every other page just not on this one http://www.creativetroubleshooter.com/landho.htm Any ideas??? Thanks in advance. This group rocks!
PS: Now when I try to previwe in FF or Sarari, DW can't find the server.

For some reason I get a white box where my SWF should be.
Actually it's for a very specific reason, and it's usually always for the *same* reason in every post here....
just not on this one http://www.creativetroubleshooter.com/landho.htm Any ideas???
The file that is pointed to in your page - http://www.creativetroubleshooter.com/flash%20button/green1.swf - is actually here -- http://www.creativetroubleshooter.com/green1.swf. This usually means that the site is not properly defined, or that you made a mistake in linking to the file.

  • White box before swf plays

I looked for similar questions on the forum, but couldn't find a reference. This is likely an inane question (with a simple answer), but here goes.
I have created slideshows for a site with a blue background. In quick succession, the page loads, a white box appears where the swf will play, and then the Flash movie starts. The background color of the Flash file matches the background color of the site. How do I get rid of the white box that appears beforehand?
    Thanks for your help.
    Best regards,
    Jon

If the background of the movie is the same color as the page I think there is a param you can change in your object tag or your swfobject or something like that that will make the swf stage transparent. Then I think the white box will go away.
You may also need to use a preloader to eliminate the box.

  • White box? SWF shows as white box in Dreamweaver

The SWF starts animating, but a white box will show for a
second and motion starts on /home.
on /portfolio and its lower levels the buttons showup but the
    graphics dont...
Im a noob, but I know the home page is only 48k, so I wouldnt
    guess size is an issue...

FTP it and include dependent files. Make sure the Scripts
    folder and script
    are on the server.

  • Plagued by the white box

i'm trying to embed a flash game i've made onto a tumblr page, and when i first enter the code and update the page the game works, but as soon as i leave and come back or refresh the page it's the white box.
my swf file is hosted on google sites, and my embed code looks like this:
    <embed align="middle" allowscriptaccess="always" height="800" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" quality="high" src="https://sites.google.com/site/diyinternetart/DIY%20internet%20art_finalforreal.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="1200" style="position: absolute; top: 200px; left: 125px"></embed>
would i need to host the file somewhere else? i've tried it with a couple different swf hosting sites but either the site won't let me embed the file or it will end up like this^
or is it a problem with the code?
i'm using tumblr because i can freely edit the page's entire code without paying for a premium membership
also i used stencyl to make the game because i don't actually have flash

    Change your ... src="https://sites.google.com/site/diyinternetart/DIY%20internet%20art_finalforreal.swf" type="application/x-...
    to ... src="http://sites.google.com/site/diyinternetart/DIY%20internet%20art_finalforreal.swf" type="application/x-...
That will get the linked swf to show up.

  • Swf won't play after uploading - white box

I've posted a couple of previous times and gotten nothing but
dead air, so I'm still trying to find a way to get flash movies to
just play on a web site. Is it that hard? I hate flash. Why doesn't
    it just work?
I'm trying to put a video gallery up and currently have eight
.swf video clips that all begin downloading simultaneously when the
page is opened, hogging bandwidth that should be reserved for
whatever one video the user chooses. I can't find a way to keep the
clips from downloading until the user clicks the play button. And I
can't put a buffer delay in. Everything I can find on a buffer in
Flash says to change the BufferTimer in the components inspector.
But I HAVE NO BUFFERTIMER IN THE COMPONENTS INSPECTOR!! I've got
Align, AutoPlay, CuePoints, etc., but no BufferTimer! I swear I
must have a faulty version of Flash CS3.
So I'm trying to get around it by using a gallery of images
that link to individual pages with one .swf file. It all tests fine
on my local machine, but once it's uploaded, the gallery images
pull up pages with a big fat white box where the .swf should be.
    What gives?
And while I'm ranting about the difficulties of Flash, I'll
rave about the ease of use of Dreamweaver. Why can't Fl be more
like Dw? ie, coding not required. I've been trying to wrestle this
Flash gallery into reality for more than a week and I'm on the
verge of reverting back to embedded Quicktime files.
BTW, does anyone know of a Flash forum people actually? I
haven't gotten a response at Creative Cow or here.
Sorry for the rant; I'm at my wit's end.

I am having the very same problem. When I post the swf file
and call it up, all I see is a white box with my play button and
stop button at the bottom. Both of these buttons work and it looks
fine once you hit the play button. But I want the swf to come up to
the first frame which should be a picture of a person -- not the
    white box!
Did you ever find out how to fix this problem? I'd be ever so
grateful to get help on this one.
    Thanks!

  • White box of death! Trouble embedding swf into Dreamweaver!

So close to being finished! I notice this question on alot of other forums but its never resolved!
    here is the site now:
    http://http://www.andrewweeksphotogr...m/index_8.html
you will notice a slight flash of a white box before the preloader starts, i'm trying everything to make it go away! this box seems to be the same size as my embedded swf. the site and preloader are all in one swf. all i need to do is make that white box the same color as the background so it is unnoticeable.
here is the code from dreamweaver (you'll notice im sticking in color values wherever i can!)
help a gal out! many thanks!

  • Dreadful White Box with embedded swf

    Hi there,
this is my first forum post on Adobe but I have been scouring the forums across the internet and I am aware this is a common error but so far it would appear everyone has a different reason for this error happening.
Basically when I just run the swf file locally from my computer it works perfectly, I have succesfully managed to embed it into the home page of one of my sites... http://www.reelflies.ca - it is about 3/4 of the way down the home page. Now I have also managed to embed it on another one of my sites just as a test file and it works fine on its Html page... http://www.digitalbarn.ca/Reelflies-Slideshow/sitemap2.html.. So I feel rather confident that it is not a problem with my code.
Now when one of our advertisers try to put it on their site it simply will not show - just a blank white box shows - now even if I send them the exact code that we use and even have tried linking it to one of the sites (digitalbarn.ca) that it was previously working on. Nothing seems to work, this is my first stint into flash so it is possible it is a coding error on my end but for me to be able to get it to work on two sites seems to baffle me.
I have also read that it could be that the directory that the swf and related files are stored in may not allow this file type to play but even with a direct link to one of our sites that do have it working it suddenly stops working. The site does have other flash on their homepage as well so it is rather frustrating that ours will not work.
Oh I also wanted to add that I am using the Adobe CS4 suite for this. and testing has been run in Mozilla Firefox 3.5, Internet Explorer, and Google Chrome. I have also been using firebug to try to figure out any issues myself on the advertisers website to no avail.
I apologise in advance as I am trying to answer as many of the initial questions I often see when researching this problem things may not come out totaly how I wanted.

Included below is my embed source. I used Dreamweaver CS4 to produce it, the Website that is having the grief is http://www.thenewflyfisher.com/ there is a black jpeg of our logo near that bottom of their page and below it a big white square, that big white gap directly below is where our flash should be playing. That piece of code currently is linking to their servers which obviously isnt working.
I ran tests on my Reelflies.ca page with the below code to no avail unfortunately. That code works fine on my digitalbarn site but when located on a different site stops working which confuses me as I would have imagined the direct links would have resolved that issue?
**edit: For whatever reason the quotation marks at the end of my link have been grabbed into the links so if testing the links just make sure you remove these from your browser address bar.
This is included in the header tags

  • Help - swf only displays as white box or "download new version of flash player"

I've installed a swf banner on my site but only get either a white box that's the same dimensions as the swf should be or this
Content on this page requires a newer version of Adobe Flash Player.
This is the code that Dreamweaver is generating

I've tried setting the flash properties to transparent and that hasn't helped. I'm really stumped here.
    Many thanks in advance.

Thank you! I finally figured it out a solution!! I saved the swf as a flash 10.1 document rather than the pre-set 10.2 and am happy to report that it worked. I've been able to view it on an imac and a windows device but it still doesn't work on an ipad. The only solution I can think of for this is to have a link at the top of my page that says " ipad and i phone users click here" --- and the link would be www.mysite.com/idevice"
where there would be an exact replica of my page minus the annimated banner OR with a version that would be viewable on an I pad/phone.

  • Can I get rid of the white box behind my swf file?

I would like for the space behind my swf animation to not appear as a white box while the browser is loading the swf but rather show what is on the page behind the loading file.
I believe someone had once told me what to do to prevent this but I cannot find this info now.

Thank you. I knew it was something simple. I think I used to
have to enter it as a paramenter but now in CS5 there is
a w mode setting. I appreciate your help..

  • White box around image in my transparent .swf file

I created a .swf file for a header of a website using a logo that tweens in.  I tested the .swf with the transparent properties and it works but the logo I imported from photoshop has a white box around it, how can I remove this?  Do I need to import a transparent .png file instead of a .jpg?
    Thanks!

.png's are lossless vector graphics, so it's probably best bet if your going to do other things with the logo. .jpg's are not fond of resizing. You can also break the image apart and use the lasso tool and magic wand the background away.

  • HTML = Invisible / SWF = White Box

This is really freakin' me out. Working on a simple movie
that I want as a simple introduction index page, I am having no
problem getting it to work offline.
Now the moment I load it on to the server I get one of two
things. If I published it HTML I get an invisible page, or if I
publish it SWF I get a white box.
As for the invisible page, when I right click over the area
the movie should be I still get the "About Flash 9" window.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Gary

    Gary,
    > As for the invisible page, when I right click over the
    area
    > the movie should be I still get the "About Flash 9"
    window.
It sounds like the HTML is correctly preparing the way for
    the SWF --
that is, it includes the <object>/<embed> tag
    combo, and/or the JavaScript
that writes those for you on the fly -- but the SWF file
    itself is either
missing or not in the place specified by your code.

  • Page shows white box instead of SWF when parameter swfversion set to 11

    Hi,
I'm using Dreamweaver CC, and I'm embeding a SWF. When I set the paramter swfversion to 11 the swf wont load, there's only a white box. But when I set it to 10, the SWF loads. What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks!

    Hello DJ,
did you work trough Adobes help link: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/flash/cs/using/WSd60f23110762d6b883b18f10cb1fe1af6-7bd1a.html# WSd60f23110762d6b883b18f10cb1fe1af6-7bcea and there esp. the chapter "Specify publish settings for SWF files (CS5)"? You should find some hints for your problem.
On the other hand - and I find it very interesting - when I embed a swf file by using my DW CC, DW inserts <param name="swfversion" value="6.0.65.0">, it seems at DW plays it safe.  We have had prior experience of this here in the forum, that a lower version works better than a newer one.

  • FLV showing up as white box?

I'm uploading 2 flv files to our website. Both flv files were edited with Media Encoder to be changed into flv. This is not the first time I have uploaded flv files to our site. We add our tv ads via flv, on average, every 2 months or so. The procedure is always the same and I did nothing different with these new flv files. However, this time, the flv files are showing up as a white box on our site instead of loading the flv players as usual. The "live view" in Dreamweaver shows the videos correctly...the flv player loads and I can watch the tv ads.
I took both ads off the page and added an old tv ad, just to see if it would work and it worked beautifully. But when I put the 2 new tv ads back on, I get the white box again. I have revisited Media Encoder and redited the tv ads, added the reedited ads back to Dreamweaver, and reuploaded, but still I get the same white box. I compared the code from the old tv ad and the new ones and the code is exactly the same (except for filename, of course). I checked to see if the new tv ads were made differently from our old ones and they were not. The expressinstall and swfobject scripts are uploaded to our site already since we use various flash files on the site (don't know if this even matters!). And each time I upload, it is uploading the skin and progressive player as well.
I am at a loss! Nothing should have changed with our hosting company. I took an old, working tv ad off our website in order to put the new ones on. I have no idea where to go from here. The specific page on our site is www.ourphf.com/currentad.html. I've tried uploading the new videos in all different sizes as well, thinking maybe it was a size issue. Please help!

Your video isn't showing up because your SWF file is blank
    http://www.ourphf.com/FLVPlayer_Progressive.swf
Is this the actual name of your FLV file?
    PHF_%231_1-23-13_1
If not, you should rename your file without any special characters.
