White line in Encore Cs4

I imported 3 AME encoded files into Encore, and placed them on a timeline. Two of the files have a solid white line just above and parallel to the timeline. The third clip is clear of anything between the timeline and the GOP lines. What significance does the white lines have. Ive not seen them before.I have not gone any futher with the project, because it dosent seem to act normally as I move up and down the timeline.
Thanks for any replys.
Kent

Kent,
The actual file laying on the timeline is pink instead of the usual light green.
That blows my theory. To answer your question, I have not seen this, but then I do every Project the same exact way. They are all SD Projects, and I also Export from PrPro as elemental streams - one Video-only DV-AVI Type II and one Audio-only AC3 (for DD 5.1 SS). I seldom do the Transcoding/Export from PrPro, so my Projects, regardless of how intricate the navigation is, are quite simple.
Maybe someone else can comment on the "pink" files. I cannot, as I have never seen such.
Good luck,
Hunt

  • Edging problem "thin white line" between paths in Illustrator CS4...

I am making a map of Europe with Illustrator CS4 for a documentary about WWI and how the Versailles Treaty carved up imperial Germany. After having traced imperial Germany before Versailles, I then carve out the territories given to neighboring states. The problem is these very fine white lines that appear between paths.
I have two paths right next to each other. But for some reason I see this very thine white line gap that shows up between them and becomes much more evident when I export into Photoshop. Please notice this very fine white line in the black image. What you see in this image are in fact two paths side by side. There should be no line between them. And I have no idea why this very fine line appears but it gets much worse in Photoshop much more noticeable. Please click on image to see the line more clearly.
Thank you very much in advance for any help or suggestions.
    - Nick

    Dear Jacob and Peter,
Thank you both very much for your help.
Please see these photos showing my problem more clearly.
I am using Illustrator to draw the regions, Photoshop to consolidate the layers, and Apple Motion 4 to build my animation.
    [1] : Imperial Germany in 1914.
    [2] : Germany after Versailles.
In Illustrator CS4, the images [1] and [2] have the colored layers in "Multiply" transparency mode. It's how I want the layers to look when I import them into Apple Motion 4.
My idea was to color all the layers black in "Normal" mode and then apply "colorize" filters in Motion 4 and set the transparency to "multiply" in Motion.
Now with Imperial Germany (all layers colored in black with transparency set to "Normal"), when I bring the image into Photoshop, I suddenly get very fine white lines between the layers and these lines show up in Motion which is the big problem. Like I said, when you click on this last photo, and you see the image full size, you can clearly see the problematic lines which appear exactly where the layers touch each other. In the photo below, the territories ceded to Poland (West Prussia) and Lithuania (Memel) are not yet red. They are still black but you can see the lines.
I don't understand because in Illustrator there were no gaps whatsoever between the layers. In Illustrator CS4, I simply cut the "territorial losses" from imperial Germany using the "Trim" function in the Pathfinder Menu. I created the red and yellow layers from the original single "imperial Germany" layer. In Illustrator I can colorize all the layers black and still never see any gaps. The fine white lines, appear in Photoshop and in Motion.
(NOTE: The documentary is being in edited in Final Cut Studio which is why I use Motion for animating.)
Sorry to ramble on. Thank you again for any further help you can give me.

  • Help needed! White lines over uncompressed avi export - CS4 v4.2

    Hello,
I am having problems exporting an uncompressed avi at max bit depth in Premiere Pro CS4. Whenever I export it, I get what is below. Please look at the image to get an idea of what it looks like. The quality is there, just the white lines are annoying.
    http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc291/madindehead/PremierePro_export_weird.png
However, when exporting as an uncompressed avi with 8 bit bit depth, the quality is worse, but there are no white lines. I am using the UYVY codec. As you can see, the quality of the export is excellent, but it is spoiled by those lines. Does anyone know what could be causing it, and how can I fix it? I don't really want to use 8 bit depth, as the quality is nowhere near as good sadly.
    Thanks.

    I tried looking here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/2105977#2105977
Which led me to encoding the video with VirtualDub, using a lossless codec, and then re-exporting it from Premiere. However, exactly the same thing happened. I have found, that using Uncompressed Microsoft AVI, with Render at maximum depth selected and using the UYVY codec, definitely gives the best quality. If I un-tick "Render at maximum depth" the problem DOES NOT occur, however, the quality is nowhere near as good. So I think this is where the problem lies. You can see under that white layer, that the quality is there. But still no joy sadly.
I am using StaxRip to encode the files as MP4 using the x264 codec, and this gives excellent quality, for the file size. As I am using this, I obviously want the highest quality output from Premiere that I can possibly get.

  • Illustrator CS6 to CS4: White lines along edges of semi-transparent gradient meshes

    Hi,
I recently invested in CS6 Production Premium and I've just tested legacy support by saving an Illustrator CS6 image in CS4 format.
The image contains a number of semi-transparent gradient meshes used for highlights.
Having loaded the saved CS4 .ai file in CS6, white lines appear along my semi-transparent gradient meshes (see the attached screenshot).
What's happening is that the anchor points with 0% opacity in CS6 suddenly have 100% opacity when I load the saved CS4 files in CS6.
    Is this a known error?
If so, how/where do I report it?
Here are the relevant CS6 and CS4 files:
    http://snk.to/f-chcig8s9
P.S. There are no white lines when I save the image in CS5 format and load it in CS6.

The image contains a number of semi-transparent gradient meshes used for highlights.
CS4 doesn't support semi-transparent gradient meshes. So they are simulated by using opacity masks. The masks are generated atuomatically from the meshes in the file, so they have the exact same size, which causes the fringes. If you would create this manually, you would make the opacity mask slightly larger in order to avoid fringes.

  • Encore CS4 Missing Frames/Stops Starts  and Blue Screen Crashes During Playback

I'm opening Premiere Pro CS4 with the default presets of HDV Capture, HDV 1080i30 software only mode. I'm capturing from my Canon HV20 using firewire HDV out 1440 x 1080. All goes well during the editing process but when I Dynamic Link and playback in Encore CS4 I observe dropped frames or stop and starts in Encore timeline sequence. At times I may even crash Encore with a Blue Screen. While still running Encore I can go back to Premiere Pro and play the timeline sequence with no issues. I will mention that I have the Matrox RT.X2 installed. But when starting a project I'm doing software only and disabling RT.X2 hardware playback. If I remove all effects in the timeline sequence and then Dynamic link to Encore the playback is normal with no effects. I did exported the Premiere Pro CS4 project using Adobe Media Encoder CS4 with a setting of MPEG 2 Blu-ray 1440 x 1080i 29.97 High Quality. I than import this MPEG2 back into Adobe Encore CS4 and it plays without dropping frames or hang-ups.

    Try to remember this:
Encore "Tries" to playback from premiere pro.  If you have a full set of previews available, it will play those, but you are probably seeing a lot of dropped frames and choppy video if your previews in premiere are set pretty low.  What you can do to combat this--in my experience--is export your video from premiere into a whole file in full format (in a non-lossy format with full frames, and in it's proxy equivalent;  I use Prores LT for many projects, and export that as a final output from premiere), then have that encode in an h.264 format (which will maximize smooth motion and quality playback).  Now... ...In your encore project, you should be outside of your original formats and in the intermediary that encore will recognize, so you should have it "Locate transcoded file".  Once you have done so, it will playback that movie in the preview.  I've done it.  With CS6 and 4gb ram with a vidcard at 256mb and a core2duo 2.16ghz, it plays fine.  With CS4 the encoding takes a while, and if you go to dvd, even longer for compression to work properly.  I use Compressor to output AVCHD .264 stream and an AC3 file.  When I locate the transcode for BD, I locate the .264 file first, then I get asked for the AC3 file.  This allows me to import them both, and have Encore encode them into the transport stream without transcoding.  I use Distributed processing to get the job done quickly, as I have minimal access to several computers and have connected them by that method for a Render Farming setup.  It works well.  With a hardware based device playing back your files, you won't see the same performance in Encore.  It has to make two hops already to get to your video, and adding a third (goes from encore to Premiere, then to codec, then plays normally;  third step is to external hardware, which eats up processing like crazy when it has to come all the way back to an encoding output to screen through encore, adding more steps for the system along the way) really can slow down the performance in Encore.  IF you take the Steps out by encoding a finished playback stream, Encore will handle it quickly with it's own processing.  It really does work well.  If you don't like it, make your changes in Premiere, then re-encode with your hardware and make an h.264 file for encore again.  You can use AME, but you'll always get standard Blu-ray (old file-stream format; lesser res and quality).  You can use Compressor to make AVCHD which allows for 264 output that is PSF or progressive that is interpreted as simultaneous fields (fake interlace), or even solid progressive formatting for AVCHD compatible players, and you can render-farm it to speed up the encoding process.

  • White line artifacts from PowerPoint 2007

We are testing Windows 7 x64 in our graphics department and have installed Acrobat 9 Pro (from CS4)
When creating a PDF from certain powerpoint files, some of the images land up split up with white lines through them.
The same powerpoint file convert fine, without artifacts, when created on a Windows XP x86 system and PowerPoint 2003. Acrobat 9 Pro from CS4 is also installed on that system.
Is this a bug? A feature? Something we can work around?

Actually I already tried that and while it did fix the background issue, it made the rest of the video look bad. From what I've read its not designed for highly animated videos, which mine is, so even at a higher quality it seems to stutter and the images appear to be at a lower color depth.
    Maybe I'm setting it wrong?

  • Good workflow to avoid white lines and discolored boxes with transperancy?

I'm somewhat new to Illustrator.  I have designs in illustrator CS4 that contain objects with drop shadows that are on top of gradient backgrounds.  When I save out the artwork as a PDF file I see random faint white lines and discolored boxes around the objects with the drop shadows.  When I print proofs of the file on my HP3500 color laser printer I see the white lines and discolored boxes as well.  I'm afraid the the lines will show up in production when I send off to the printer. Here's what I'm doing.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.
(Document Raster Effects Settings: Resolution-High 300ppi/Background: Transperant/Options: preserve spot colors, add 12.7mm around object)
    1. Save file as PDF from Illustrator CS4
    2. PDF Settings
         a. PDF Preset: PDF /xa:2001
         b. Advanced Overprint and Transperancy flatener options: Preset-High Resolution
When viewed and printed from Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro there are white stiching lines that are visible.
Do I need to worry about these? Or will they go away when sent to a better printer?
    Thanks for the help.

Try "Press Quality" Acrobat 5 compatable setting for "live" transparency.  You can also try PDF/X-4 2008 which maintains live transparency and, in CS4, maintain Acrobat 5 compatability.  PDF-X1 is a setting that "flattens" transparency which may limit your output options, depending on final output device.  Double check your raster settings and make sure it is set for 300ppi/2400dpi and not 72ppi/300dpi.  As suggested by Wade, your printer may not be a Postscript Level 3 output device with a RIP.  So, the driver may not be screening the artwork properly and the stitching shows up in output.  You may benefit from taking the file to a prepress shop and have them output a "contract" proof.  If the stitching shows up in the contract proof, then the PDF setup may be the problem or the original file itself.

  • White line at letterbox bottom

    Hi,
I am having a problem when authoring with Encore CS3 on an Intel Mac.
I have compressed a 16x9 SD movie in Sorenson Squeeze.  I bring it into Encore for authoring.
When I preveiw the disc before building, with the preview set to show 16x9 letterbox in a 4x3 frame, I see a thin white line at the bottom of the letterboxed image.  If I burn the disc, the white line is also there.  See attached jpg (levels adjusted for clarity
When looking at the asset in menus where the images is not letterboxed, there is no white line at the bottom of the image.
If I author the same material in DVD Studio Pro, I do not get this artifact.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Jef

Source was DV, edited in Avid MC, QT ref file to Sorenson Squeeze 4.5.7.
Settings in Sorenson were MPEG 2 Video, 2 Pass VBR, Max 7500 Avg 5800 Min 3700 kbps, NTSC 720 x 480,
Frame Rate 29.97 Pixel Aspect Ratio 16:9, Field Encolding Bottom Field First, I Frames 15 P Frames 3, Auto GOP off.
This is a slightly modified (aspect ratio) Squeeze preset setup which has worked with no issues in 2 other authoring programs.  I doubt it is the issue
    but could be wrong.
If it were and Encore is re-encoding, would it not say so in the Assets menu?  It does that when I do a Dolby AC3 encode
of a PCM track.  Encore shows no issues with the video asset.
    Thanks,
    Jef

  • Encore Cs4 blu_ray authoring

Hello all I would like to share with all good people around my experience with Encore cs4. So far had to dig around and follow some hints within encore help and solved the following problems:
1- Now I can import DTS in the Blu-ray timeline project and build was successful.
2- Blu-ray subtitles issues generated error  "Graphics ....Subtile set too close etc "  also solved : Had to secure a gap of minimum
2 Frames between each subtitle - (actually I prefer to  work on a gap of  4 frames to be on the safe side).
Now my headache is as follows maybe someone can help:
Project consists of a H264 1920x1080 HD timelime of around 3h.22 with menus motion menus and all the good stuff u can get out this software
and I am using 3 subtitles tracks English,French and German:
1- when linking the subtitles menu buttons respectively for each 3 subtitles tracks as follows : speficy link then the main timeline and the subtitle track number - during playback when I go to the subtitle menu to change from one subtitle to another instead of resuming it starts all over again from the very beginning of the movie.
2- Tried to animate my scenes selection menus- built took nearly 1 day and a half  almost 2 days - compared to  25 minutes for a blu-ray folder of 25 GB or 1h 10min when burning directly to blu-ray disc with no  scenes  selection animation.
Hope someone can help and sure I am ready to share with you and extend any help needed .

    Hello again John ,
    Linkinking Subtitles tracks.
After linking each button this time to itself and specified the track language number as recommended.. during playback I accessed the subtitle menu through the Pop Up menu and there selected  the button to switch to another track, and I can see that it has been activated since the highlight changes to Yellow ,then I scrolled down in the same menu to the "Resume" button and selected it - when activated, the "Resume" button loses its assigned function apparently and the disc exits as if I pressed the STOP button on my remote control. I was really puzzled towards this behaviour so I started the disc again, played back the movie and through the Pop Up menu accessed the same subtitle menu and -This time-  I did not touch the Subs. tracks buttons (1-2-3) but instead scrolled directly to the "Resume" Button and activated it.. Guess what .. Playback resumed from where I left. This means that the moment you activate any other button prior to the Resume button  it loses its functionality !
Now when I link the subs.tracks to the movie timeline intead of the subtitle menu, the moment I access the subs menu through the Pop Up menu and activate any of the desired language subs buttons tracks, playback of the movie Resumes at once( no need for the resume button) but... from the very beginning and with the new assigned language track.
Like you are witnessing this is very Odd
Now I was told  that the subtitles linking  do work on DVD's.. so I was curious and I looked for an old DVD project I had and linked each button to itself in the subtitle menu( same way as I did for the Blu-ray project) while specifying the right language track. I burnt the project to a DVD  and watched it also on my Ps3 ,but as DVD - During playback I accessed the Main menu from the remote Control "Menu Button" and there I again from setup went to the subtitle menu and switched from the english sub track to the german track and scrolled down to the "Resume" button in the same Subtitle menu and selected it- Preview resumed from where I left and track changed to german subtitle . Now really I am at a loss:)
Now here are my observations comparing Blu-Ray build to DVD build as far as subtitles issues, in general, are concerned.
1- Although ,as you well know, each project has a default subtitle and audio track that  initially is active the moment you insert your Media (blu-ray or DVD). On a normal DVD when you hit the "Play Movie" button in the Main menu, movie starts and the default subtitle is active . On a blu-ray Disc the default subtitle track is not active - and playback has no subtitle at all unless you select subtitle Button on your remote and select a language track .
2- On a DVD each subtitle track displays its language on the screen when you use the "subtitle " remote control button; i.e. English ,French or whatever etcc.. are dispayed on the screen. On a Blu-ray DISC all languages become English ! :)
3- Adobe useful Help recommends and insists on a Gap of 2 frames between each subtitle for Blu-Ray projects. Well not even 6 frames are enough you need a minimum of 8 frames gap between each subtitle which makes short subtitle lines  duration very short - the moment they appear they disappear very fast.
It is a  real Pitty because Encore Cs4 is a wonderful application .Unlike other complains that I randomly witness in the forum I never Had a problem with DTS audio or AC3 or H264 or MPEG or any other error like build error or audio error and all the streams I use are High Def 1920 x1080 always show on the project panel as : dont transcode for blu-ray settings . everything is great but this tiny small issue that I could not so far master !
    regards

  • Brushes have pixelated edge: when filled with color there's a white line at the border

    Hello,
I'm trying to make geometric shapes that are black outlines filled with color. I'm drawing the shapes with the pen tool. When I fill them using the bucket tool, there's a pixellated white line separating the black outline and the color infill. How to do make the color fill directly to the black outline?

In addition to Chris's post wanted to advise you that stroke effects in Phothsop have rounded edges in Phothoshop. You will notice this on thin strokes (eg: 1 pxl).
Set the stroke to go on inside for squared edges, not center or outside. Adobe has been aware of this since CS, but has not been find a solution for Photoshop to handle this.

  • Working on Menu's in Encore CS4

I have a couple of sessions I made up in Premiere Pro cs4 and imported them with 2 chapter marks at the beginning to Encore. Once they are there I need to build a menu for this....? According to some on-line video help I made an intro that I want to look something like powerpoint with a couple of text's coming in from different places and then some pictures appearing at different parts. Then I want that intro to move to a 2nd intro with similar things all the while a song is playing. The 2nd intro will eventually have the 2 chapter buttons appear that will link to the 2 sessions I made and imported from Premiere pro. It sounds simple, but I am very lost. I made both intros in photoshop element 3 and tried layers and naming conventions, but no where do I see the ability for the text to move like in powerpoint. Also when I import this menu to Encore CS4 I would like the separate layers to appear on the timeline to edit them coming in during the song at certian parts like in Premiere CS4.
I hope this isn't too confusing, because I am very. Please help.

Yes, you can have your intro as the "play first" with an end action to go to your menu.  Then your menu will have buttons that will go to your timelines/sequences.
So you don't get confused, Hunt and I were both suggesting you do a version of the project without the intro to get you set regarding using a menu, buttons, and timelines.  But go for it!
Terminology often doesn't matter, but often it does.
In Premiere, and sequence is what you have on the timeline.  It will always have at least one Encore chapter marker at the beginning.  any others you have to place yourself.  You can export all or part of a sequence.
What you import into Encore is an "asset," usually a video from Premiere which was the sequence there.
In Encore, you can't put an asset into the DVD directly, you must make it a "timeline."  The easiest way to do this is to "import as timeline."  But you don't call it a "sequence" in Encore.  If your video is only one chapter (in other words, if you did not add any more Encore chapter markers in Premiere or in Encore), it is true that the timeline/asset is about the same as the chapter, but there are in fact "objects" in Encore that get called those names and are different things.  (For example, your "chapter" can have an end action, as can your "timeline.")
So don't let any of that worry you or slow you down, but be aware that you'll be picking up some lingo as you go.

  • Transparent buttons in Encore CS4?

    Hi there.
I'm just starting with Encore CS4, so I don't know too much about it. I want to create a menu button that is invisible, but when I select it, it becomes visible. To show you what I'm trying to do, I made a screenshot:
    http://img404.imageshack.us/img404/6621/menuwd.jpg
You see those small white dots on the map. I want those to be visible at all times. And when one of them is selected, I want the white circle to appear (hence it should be there, but set to 100% transparency as long as it is not selected). Also, a small text should appear when the button is selected.
I found options to make the layers visible or invisible, but I didn't manage to find an option in which I can make the layers visible again when they're being selected.
Any hints on how to achieve this?

    Mr.D,
    1) If you want to create a button that is transparent you can create it in photoshop easiest. In Encore, if your asset/layer/button isn't already a button, right click on your asset/layer/button/and click "convert to button" . Once that is done, right click somewhere on your menu and click edit in photoshop.
    2) In Photoshop the layers will be in grouped folders. Locate your button/layer there and then duplicate the layer that you are trying to make transparent.
    3) Rename your button layers to read like this: "Name of button (=1)" and "Layer 1 copy" . And turn both of the layers off (Click the eye feature next to the layer so that they are not seen anymore) This will make your button invisible/transparent. When you save the project in photoshop the feature should carry over to encore.
Once this is done when you mouse over the area where the button is it should highlight with the same shape as your button is and act like a rollover button on the web.
    Hope this helps!

  • Subtitle problems with Encore CS4 and BD/Blu-ray -- here is a solution!

Do you have problems with subtitles: for example they vanish completely after doing fast forward or turn them off and on again. Then here you can find one possible solution.
I am using Windows Vista 32bit. Thus Encore CS4 is the last version which I can use. Because Adobe will never provide a solution for this version, I was looking for another solution.
At least I found a workaround for my subtitle problems.
Now I am doing the following steps:
    1. Create the blu-ray disk in a folder without subtitles
    2. Create the subtitles with a program like "subtitle workshop"
    3. Save the subtitles in the .srt format.
    4. Use the program SubConverter Express v1.5.0 to convert the subtitles in the .sup format. Here you must choose a suitable font & font size.
    5. Add the .sup to the blu-ray folder structure with the program BDFix Express v1.7.3. When doing that, you can also choose the language i.g. "deu" for german. You will find a detailed description in the forum on www.defsoft.com. It is very easy to understand.
    6. BDFix will create a new folder with all necessary files to burn a blu-ray disk. Nothing changes in comparison to the folder which was createt by Encore except that subtitles were added.
    7. You can burn this folder with a tool like imgburn.
With this workaround you will have the following advantages:
    1. It seems that these subtitles were added in a blu-ray specification conform way. Fast forward/backward, switching on/off, chapter jump still work perfectly.
    2. The subtitle fonts are rendered in a much more smooth way than Encore does.
    3. The 5 frames gap between subtitles is not longer necessary.
    4. This solution ist quite fast (about 20 minutes for a 25 GByte disc).
    5. You can use these programs also for other blu-rays to add or remove subtitles.
    6. You do not need Encore to add/change or remove subtitles. You can do that also years later. You only need the burned blu-ray disc.
To be honest, there is one disadvantage:
    - The two programs (SubConverter & BDFix) cost about 200 US Dollar. But to cure my nerves that was worth it.
Hint: You can do a first test with the freeware versions. But there are two limitations. SubConverter can only import 30 subtitle lines and BDFix will only create 3 minutes of subtitles.
    Greetings,
    Ralf

FLV and F4V use different codecs for Flash video. H.264 in case of F4V and On2 VP6 for FLV. There's a difference of bitrate between different quality presets. You can check the bitrates of files generated using some tool. Your video might be very static to feel the different be the two quality settings.
F4V is the new format and need a newer version of Flash Player. Please update your Flash player and try again to play the F4V files.
Playstream doesnt support F4V format. You can only export FLV files to Playstream.
It might also be an issue of low bandwidth while playing a streaming video. Are you playing is locally or from a web server.

  • Encore CS4 creating multiple DVDs

    Windows 7
    Ram 6GB
    Encore CS4
    Gentlemen !
I have a footage , which is about 7 hours long(Video ntsc) , besides cutting the footage into few pieces, is there any way I can create a set of DVDs, like a let's say DVD1 through 3 or 4
    Here is what I do
I import my 7 hours footage , then I create a "TimeLine" on the time line I set chapter marks and I assign each chapter mark to a scene on the main page.
Before I used to do the same thing with 2 or 3 hours footage and it would work fine , but now that my footage is too long , its says all videos cannot fit on one disk , so
Is there any way I can put them on several DVDs ?
    Thanks.

Create the separate pieces in Premiere Pro, and export as MPEG2-DVD, ready for Encore to put on disk.
Encore does not do a good job when you put a very large timeline in and crop it, etc.
4 disks will make it easier to break them up in terms of content. You are looking to keep the time under 2 hours per disk max. You can make multiple timelines per disk if that suits the material better.
You'll need to calculate the bitrate to use for the export from PR. If you calculate the fullest disk, you can use those settings for all of them. But you can calculate it for each disk, and get somewhat better quality on the disks that are not as full.

  • "encode failed" encore cs4

I read some of the other problems with this but I have an extra little tid-bit.  If I just import the .avi and burn it with no menu it works fine.  It is when I incorporate a menu and burn that I get "encode failed".  I am not real technical so if some one has a dumbed down answer for me I would really appreciate it.
    Thanks!

The process is simple I did it actually 2 different ways and got the same result.  1st the project was made in Premiere Pro 2.0.  2nd just went to file-->Export-->Movie & that is the file that I imported as an asset into Encore CS4, dropped the .avi into a new timeline and burned a dvd no problem (without a menu).  Then when I got the video approved I went back in, chose new blank menu, put 11 chapters in the time line, then dropped those chapter markers into video buttons on the menu, checked my links, didn't have any errors, went into build dvd, got about 3 sec. in and boom!! "encode failed", what does an aneurism feel like? Does any of this give a better picture?
