Who's actually in charge?

Could someone tell me WHO my administrator is?   I was happily clicking through various parts of Mac OSX 10.6 Leopard discussions when a message suddenly appeared.   "It appears you are not authorised to view this section (or words to that effect).  If you feel this is incorrect refer to your administrator(or words to that effect).   To be frank I've forgotten what took my attention or the exact constitution of the message, but I'm left feeling somewhat criminal for as far I'm aware, I am my own administrator.
Would anyone have any ideas as to the background to such a message?

Given that the message uses the phrase "... your administrator...", it would seem to be a standard default pre-written message from Jive (which is the software running these forums, and which is a commercial product and not an Apple design) rather than being a message created for that purpose by the client (Apple, in this case).
If the Apple staff had written that message, they would probably have not used "administrator" since that term is not used by the folk who do run this site. The terms the Apple staff use are "Host", "Community Host", and (rarely) "Community Mod".

  • Can't seem to talk to anyone who can actually help me!

I have been trying to get legitimate assistance for my high speed Internet that went down yesterday right in the middle of a final I was taking for school. However after hours of tech support trouble shooting and being hung up on to the hour plus I waited on hold today, I have yet to speak with anyone who can tell me why nobody seems to care about my lack of a connection. I was told the issue is not with my house and is a Verizon field issue but nobody is available to fix this. How is that possible?! It is absurd that I am on day 2 of no Internet when I work from home and go to school online. The amount of data I am using just to post this message is probably absurd. I really need to speak with some sort of management and can't understand why this is such a problem. Can someone please give me a number or email address to someone who can actually help me?!

If you are having an issue with your Verizon service, you can use the Verizon Troubleshooter to fix and report issues with your Verizon Phone, FiOS TV, or Internet Service, as well as to schedule a repair, here is the link:

  • "Charging" icon when actually not charging on Mac Pro Early 2008

I'm perplexed by a charging/syncing issue I noticed recently with my iPad and Mac Pro Early 2008. I've seen the many posts about the "not charging" message when it is actually being charged. My situation is the opposite - I plugged in the iPad last night for sync and charge with my Mac Pro and when I woke this morning, the charge icon was still on the iPad but the charge level was the same as last night - i.e., 55%. I confirmed the iPad screen was off.
One change from the previous times I've charged is that this time I used a new USB extension cable - might that be the culprit? The cable worked for syncing and an iPad software upgrade. I would think that the iPad would give a message that it is not charging if there wasn't enough juice available. Seems odd to have this opposite phenomenon occurring.
I finally disconnected and plugged the iPad into the 10W wall A/C charger and it now appears to be charging normally.
    Thoughts?

I checked the machine settings this morning and while the display was in sleep mode the computer was set to never sleep. I'm also wondering if there's a chance the iPad was "awake" all night with screen on - don't think so, and I kept it plugged in this morning and put the iPad screen to sleep for at least 20-30 minutes and the recharge progress never changed - i.e., stayed at 55%.

  • Has anyone who ordered actually received their phone(s) yet?

It doesn't seem like the phones are even shipping out to those who have ordered them. I ordered on the 29th of September and I have a placeholder "expected shipping date" of October 31st. It doesn't look good on my end seeing as people who pre-ordered still haven't received their phones yet. Is there any other way to get a more accurate idea of where my order is and when I will actually receive my phones? The one line synopsis on the order tracking page just isn't enough.

Agreed. I ordered two phones the 25th and I've seen minimal movement. All that has happened for me is my recent orders now shows the products I ordered. Very frustrating. I will never order from Verizon again when local stores, along with Apple, have my phones in stock. It's all about sales!

  • Contact someone in uk who can actually speak to op...

Hello. Hope someone can help. Apologies for formatting but i'm trying to do this on my mobile with poor internet signal!
I need to speak to someone in uk who is in real contact with openteach about a fault. I am heavily pregnant, and also have a disabled child who relies on medical backup from hospital, yet bt have left us without a working phone line for over 65 hours now. This fault was reported as a so called priority repair, but this means nothing as the repair time quoted to me every time i phone is sometime next week, same as when fault was originally reported days ago! I feel i am going round in circles, i have to constantly chase bt, no one seems to understand the urgency of the situation. All the indian call centre are doing is telling me they are sending a mail to openreach. Well it is quite clear that openreach have b*****ed off for the weekend and have no intention of even looking at this case till mondY! Meanwhile i am stuck here with no phone, unable to sleep, terrified that i go into labour, or that my child needs an ambulance! I need someone who can talk to openzone and find out what's happening and stress the urgency, not merely send them an email that they obviously are not reading! For a communications company, bt really dont quite manage it do they?!

    Hello,
Just to let you know that the fault finally got fixed. What did it, and this may help others struggling to get BT's overseas call centre to do something, is to phone and ask to speak to someone about leaving BT!
I got put through to a UK call centre (and the woman had the cheek to say to me, with no trace of irony, that if I went with another provider "they won't have a 24/7 faults line"!!), and within an hour an engineer was out and fault fixed!!
The engineer who came out told me that that usually gets BT to do something - otherwise I'd still be sitting here with no phone line till Tuesday! I am so angry that it took resorting to this to get BT to act, and that BT were quite happy to let a heavily pregnant woman, and a disabled child, sit and wait days with no phone line, no update and no sense of urgency about the situation. God forbid if anything had happened - you don't need to trawl the net too far to find similar stories of people with disabled family members left vulnerable by BT.
So thanks BT, but I'm off!

  • Who can I talk to for resolution on a bogus charge that has been going on for 6 months!

We have been Verizon customers for over 10 years and have always paid our bills on time.  In October my daughter's relatively new cell phone was giving her issues.  She took it into the Verizon store in SoHo and the rep noted the issues and sent the phone back for replacement.  A month or so later we get a bill from Verizon stating that the phone had external damage and we would be responsible to pay the $299 replacement fee.  My daughter went back in and talked to that same rep who assured her that she would handle getting the credit to our account.  6 months later and several in store visits and phone calls and the issue is STILL not rectified and on top of that - after just speaking with that same rep 6 days ago and assuring me the credit was pending and this would not be sent to collections - I get a bill in the mail from a collection agency regarding this!  Does Verizon have so little respect for their employees (not to mention their customers) that they don't give them the ability to fix these issues?  I am so angry and frustrated because there is no one really helping us with this.  Any wonder why I have taken our entire wireless service to a more responsive carrier - AT & T?!?
Does anyone have a number of someone who will actually get something done for us that I can contact??
    thank you

I have been dealing with the same issues. I hope you get your situation resolved as well. im getting very frustrated with Verizon

  • Actual estimate for the Freight Charge

    Hi All,
We have a requirement to estimate the freight charge while entering the order itself, whereas the actual freight comes at the time of pick release which takes place in a third party syatem.
    This goes like below:
Customer Service gets a call from the customer and have to tell them the frieght charges along with the order total. Now, pick release happens in the third party system and it also provides the actual freight cost while picking and shipping the order +(This is a black box for us)+. Oracle EBS has just to do the ship confirm. This freight cost is different most of the time from that estimated while entering the order.
Therefore, we need to give the customers the closest estimate compared to the actual freight cost.
All pointers here are highly appreciated..
    Thanks,
    Rahul

    Hi Rahul,
I'd suggest you start with the Oracle white paper Oracle Order Management Freight & Special Charges and Converting Freight Costs into Charges with Basic Pricing which has some similar scenarios to your own described therein.
It's not clear exactly what your requirement is: do you hold the estimated freight charge against the sales order and so include it with the acknowledgement? Is it feasible for you to manually or via an interface from your 3rd party apply the actual freight cost to the delivery in your EBS system? If so, the white paper will give you some clear ideas on how you can replace the estimated freight charge from the order with the actual freight charge applied at shipping and which you will be passing to Receivables (one small caveat here - the setups Oracle give here don't work for configured items).
    Regards,
    Jon

The iPhone charger is only 5W

I have had multiple erroneous charges to my ITunes account which ITunes deny is their fault and say I have to ask bank for the refund, also they take approx 5 days to answer any email. I need an email address of someone higher up in customer service who might actually care.

... however you can deauthorize older computers you no longer need to have authorized to your account to make way for a new one. If you have access to specific machines you can deauthorize individually inside iTunes, otherwise you can deauthorize all, then (re)authorize the machines you want.

  • How to tell if call/complaint has actually been re...

I had a number of problems in setting up my BT phone line. To cut a long story short, I ordered a phoneline online last July 09. It turned out BT had decided I needed a new line put in, however I was not informed of this as BT decided to change my 12 month contract to an 18 month contract, without informing me until it was too late to cancel. I was only living in the flat for 12 months anyway, so this was no use to me.
(a week or two after I recieved a letter to the previous occupant from BT, they had infact had a phone line with BT so I don't believe a new phoneline ever had to be put in)
I spent a lot of time on the phone to BT in the next few weeks. The people answering my calls could be separated into roughly two categories: the openly useless (I'm sorry, there is nothing I can do) and those who sounded helpful but did not actually do anything ("someone will call you back tomorrow" - no call! or "I'll refer you to the investigations team" - nothing), when I called back to follow up the empty promises there generally wasn't any record of my making the previous call at all!.
When I recieved my first bill, for the month BEFORE my contract even started (including charges for not having made a certain number of calls!) I once again picked up the phone and called BT, this time threatening to contact an ombusman. The man on the phone refunded me this in the next bill and also said that I would be able to cancel my contact without extra change in August 2010. He said he would put a note on my account, not ideal but I was satisfied.
I have now reached the end of my tenancy and wish to cancel my account with BT. 9 days ago I sent an email using the service on this website outling my wish to end the contract. While I recieved a conformation of the email being sent, I did not recieve a reply and today phoned up the call centre. I spoke to a nice person on the phone who was unable to find a record of either my email or the note on my account allowing me to avoid some of the "early" cancellation fees. She says she had reffered me onto the complaints department and they will contact me in 5-7 working days.
I want to believe her. But in my experiance, the staff who have actually said they would do something never have and these calls don't get recorded and notes aren't put onto my account. I think there must be some sort of glitch in my account meaning a lot of my calls just aren't registered as having happened. Its upsetting as sometimes I don't feel as though I'm being believed and I have to explain the whole thing everytime I phone. Today I forgot to ask for her name or a referance number, not that I've ever managed to get some sort of referance number before (surely that sort of system wouldnt be hard to impliment!) and I'm kicking myself.
I'm going on holiday in a week, and will be away for just over 2 weeks so I'm worried about the next tenants in the house. Their tenancy starts tomorrow and I'm not sure what they'll want to do about the phone.
I just want some assurance that my complaint is actually being dealt with and hasn't been lost in the system once again.

  • Charged for a returned phone.

Before deciding to post this, I read many posts from other Verizon customers in similar situations. Before I go ahead and proceed further with an option on how to move forward, I am hoping to get more insight and advice from anyone willing to share theirs regarding my situation. Here it is:
I received a replacement phone back in late Sept. 2014, but due to other complications, I was unable to return the original phone as soon as they requested. I called Verizon at the beginning of Nov. and spoke with a rep and requested for an extension on the return of the original phone. The rep then told me that they would give me a 90 day extension FROM THE DAY WE SPOKE, which meant I had to return the phone before February, and if I returned it any later, I would be charged a late fee.
Fast forward to January 2015, and I am finally able to send back the original phone. Keep in mind, the day I sent back the phone, I was still within the 90 day extension allowance. The last week of January, Verizon shuts off all the phones connected to the account. Upon speaking with a Verizon rep, we are told that they have not yet received my phone and our lines would be disconnected until they receive the phone. I let them know that I had already sent the phone in at least a week prior to the shut off of our phones and didn't understand why it would take this long for them to get the phone. According to the label they provided for me, I expected for them to receive the phone no longer than a week after I sent it back. According to the rep, "due to weather conditions, delivery shipments may have been delayed". Then, the very next day, our phones are turned back on.
Here I am, about a month later, and our phones were shut off again. We paid the minimum fee and got our phones turned back on within a couple of hours of realizing our phones were turned off, but now we're confused as to why it was shut off again in the first place. I went to a local Verizon store and spoke with an employee about the situation. She calls Verizon Customer Service and has me speak to a rep who can better help me. According to the rep, I am being charged a $599.99 fee for the warehouse "not receiving the original phone". The rep was kind enough to do more digging for me, and he was able to find that the warehouse actually DID receive my phone, but because they received it later than expected, I am now being charged full price for the phone. Now, I understand that I was originally late in returning the original phone, but 1) I called and spoke with someone and asked for an extension (which was granted), 2) the warehouse has my phone, but still wants to charge me full price for it, and 3) they want to charge me full price because they received it a few days later than when they wanted. How is it my fault that the delivery was delayed because of weather? The rep did explain to me, though, that they count the "received date" as the date the shipment was postmarked. So, if that were true, then I still would have been in my 90 day allowance. Again, it's not my fault the warehouse received my phone late because of weather conditions.
Between talking to a store employee, talking to a customer service rep, talking to the insurance company, and then getting transferred to another Verizon Customer Service Rep, I have spent a good couple of hours, at least, trying to figure out how to fight this. I think it's unfair that I'm being charged full price for a phone that is no longer in my possession. And I even mentioned to the second customer service rep that if there are no other options to drop the charge and I absolutely have to pay the $599.99 fee, then I demand that they send me the phone back to me. If I'm being charged full price for the phone, then that means I'm buying it. Because I absolutely refuse to pay $600 for a phone that I do not have. I already had to pay full price for the phone I currently have (or rather, the original that I bought but ended up needing replaced) because I have unlimited data and upgrading would mean that I lose the unlimited data, so I'm willing to pay full price for the BRAND NEW phone that I'm purchasing at a Verizon location. I am not, however, willing to pay full price for ANOTHER phone that I do not even possess. However, the customer service rep informed me that I would not be able to get the phone back and that their warehouse had been the ones to deny to credit back the $599.99 fee after receiving the original phone. I asked for a contact number for their warehouse, since apparently, that is where the original phone is, but apparently, warehouse people cannot speak to customers.
I'm reaching my absolute boiling point with Verizon Customer Service. I've been a loyal customer for nearly 10 years, and this is the first time that I have had a major issue like this. And they seem to be unwilling to help me solve this issue. All I keep getting is "I can transfer you to our financial department so you can set up a payment plan to pay off the fee", but I refuse to set up a payment plan because that means I am agreeing to paying this ridiculous fee! Is there anybody in the Verizon community who can share their advice or opinion and help me out in figuring out how to move forward with this? I'm willing to speak to any and all employees, managers, supervisors, etc., but if all that is just going to be a waste of time, is there another option?
Thank you in advance for your help.
    A.A

    Kinquana_VZW,
I was told by a few reps that the phone that I sent back was, indeed, received in the warehouse. I was also told by the reps that there was absolutely nothing that could be done, I had to pay the fee, and that I would not be able to get the phone back despite me paying for it. That seems extremely unfair. 1.) A couple of reps told me that I would be considered within the extension allowance based on the date the package was post marked. However, another rep told me that that information is incorrect. How am I supposed to trust Verizon Customer Service if the employees aren't on the same page? A rep also told me that I needed to get in touch with Asurion insurance as they are the ones who billed the fee charge to Verizon, and Verizon is just "sending the message". However, upon speaking with an Asurion insurance agent, they informed me that Verizon is actually the one who is charging me the fee, not them. I'm tired of going back and forth between customer service reps and not getting any help or any answers. Please tell me how it is fair that Verizon is charging me the full price of a phone despite having it in their possession. Or how it is fair that despite me paying the fee, I am unable to gain possession of the phone I am pretty much buying.

  • IPhone 5 not charging when cable is connected

I recently had my iPhone battery replaced, it was ordered directly from the iStore (I live in South Africa) and is a valid, not generic, battery.
Since the technicians replacement, the phone has been working like normal, but upon charging for the first time I noticed the battery percentage would not improve.
I'm really confused about this - and frankly, quite frustrated that when connected to any power outlet, the phone recognises that it is plugged in by displaying the lighning bolt next to the battery life bar, and makes the "charging sound". When I tried to charge it through my computers USB port, it does the same - displays the lightning bolt and makes the familiar sound. My iTunes even recognises the device and if I wanted to, I could have synched my music.
My previous issue before having my phones battery replaced was also charging related - since updating to iOS7 in September 2013, the battery life was absolutely dismal, I could take a photo on 100% battery, and it would die almost immediately afterwards. To use the phone effectively I had to keep it permanently on charge.
My main concern here is that since having the aforementioned problem fixed by buying a new battery, it will now not charge at all, unlike previously where it would actually just charge but die almost immediately. I have scoured as many forums online related to my problem, and I have tried everything I possibly can to get my phone to charge. Unfortunately in the time it has taken me to sort it out, my phone has died and now will not switch on, even while "on charge."
Coukd this be a problem with the phone itself?
Should I have this seen to? I am beginning to feel quite disillusioned with my endless phone problems.
Sidenote: My iPhone was a gift from my father who bought it in England for me while on holiday in November 2012. My sister has one too - and I have tried charging my phone with her cable - no result. I don't think the warranty will be able to help at all, I doubt my dad still has the papers.
Please can someone shed some light on what I can do, or if anyone has had similar problems?
    Thanks in advance

iPhones are not user or anyone else serviceable
Apple do not repair iphones all defective units are returned for refurbishment to the manufacturing Plants and in South Africa all service and support is provided by the Apple Approved carriers
There are no "valid" batteries ,Apple does not offer battery service in SA and therefore who ever repaired the iPhone is not an authorised repairer and also Apple does NOT sell spares
Your iPhone has been tampered with by unauthorised servicers and you have therefore voided any help with your device from Apple or here ,sorry

  • IBook get hot when charging while asleep

When asleep w/lid closed and on the charger, my iBooks HD tries to spin up every minute or so. It also gets very hot on the bottom in the area of the HD, not the battery. Consequently, I have to make sure I shutdown before closing the lid if the charger is connected.
This is very inconvenient since several members of the family use the iBook and to get them all to remember to do this is impossible.
    iMac 2Ghz Core Duo, G3/BW 600Mhz, iBook G3 600Mhz, StarMax 5500 240Mhz   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   WINDOWS: eMachine DT, Averatec 12" LT

A word of caution. That problem can come and go. I had this happen on my iBook and it came and went for months, gradually getting worse and better. Eventually, I took the time to fix the problem.
The most common cause for waking while the case is closed is the magnet coming loose inside the machine. The official repair process probably involves replacing the top case, but if you are able to disassemble the laptop far enough, you can solve the problem by spending $1.95 to buy a roll of double-stick scotch tape....
If memory serves, the magnet is mounted on the underside of the right handrest, near the corner, sandwiched between the battery compartment and the handrest, but I could be remembering wrong about the exact location. It's a pain in the backside to get to it, so you probably shouldn't attempt it unless you're comfortable doing some significant disassembly. If possible, you should find an actual tech to do it for you.
It should take under ten minutes for anybody who has actually cracked an iBook before.... I would not recommend this as a first repair job. It's really easy to drop screws inside your machine while removing/reinstalling the top case, and that's a pain in the you-know-what to take care of. I've actually gotten it back from repairs done by professional repair people and heard rattling, only to disassemble it and find a screw rolling around inside. When I say it's really easy to screw up and lose a screw, I mean it's -really- easy to lose a screw.
Anyway, if you do choose to get in there, there's a rectangular box that marks where the magnet is supposed to be stuck. Add a piece of double stick tape on the sticky side of the magnet, then stick it back in place, and put the thing back together....
