Hello. Hope someone can help. Apologies for formatting but i'm trying to do this on my mobile with poor internet signal!
I need to speak to someone in uk who is in real contact with openteach about a fault. I am heavily pregnant, and also have a disabled child who relies on medical backup from hospital, yet bt have left us without a working phone line for over 65 hours now. This fault was reported as a so called priority repair, but this means nothing as the repair time quoted to me every time i phone is sometime next week, same as when fault was originally reported days ago! I feel i am going round in circles, i have to constantly chase bt, no one seems to understand the urgency of the situation. All the indian call centre are doing is telling me they are sending a mail to openreach. Well it is quite clear that openreach have b*****ed off for the weekend and have no intention of even looking at this case till mondY! Meanwhile i am stuck here with no phone, unable to sleep, terrified that i go into labour, or that my child needs an ambulance! I need someone who can talk to openzone and find out what's happening and stress the urgency, not merely send them an email that they obviously are not reading! For a communications company, bt really dont quite manage it do they?!

Just to let you know that the fault finally got fixed. What did it, and this may help others struggling to get BT's overseas call centre to do something, is to phone and ask to speak to someone about leaving BT!
I got put through to a UK call centre (and the woman had the cheek to say to me, with no trace of irony, that if I went with another provider "they won't have a 24/7 faults line"!!), and within an hour an engineer was out and fault fixed!!
The engineer who came out told me that that usually gets BT to do something - otherwise I'd still be sitting here with no phone line till Tuesday! I am so angry that it took resorting to this to get BT to act, and that BT were quite happy to let a heavily pregnant woman, and a disabled child, sit and wait days with no phone line, no update and no sense of urgency about the situation. God forbid if anything had happened - you don't need to trawl the net too far to find similar stories of people with disabled family members left vulnerable by BT.
So thanks BT, but I'm off!

    You could repartition your drive to have a different OS X with the older iTunes there, and the newer iTunes on the existing partition. Back up everything beforehand. See Kappy's advice in this thread. Partitioning my Hard Drive

    No-one can help you very much with not knowing your email address.
    It would help to know who your current provider is, or perhaps more to the point, what they call themselves now.
    There are many free providers (google, hotmail/outlook.com/yahoo/gmx, and in all probability your ISP) and it's probably easier to start over afresh.
    My search for knology.net took me to here: http://www.wowway.com/home-map so they may have been absorbed or rebranded. I note there was a change in smtp setting being discussed there.
    It looks like a very basic service (plain pop/smtp, no encryption) and you could easily find something else a little more modern.

    I have 2 phone lines and 2 broadband providers and decided to cancel one of the phone lines and one of the broadband providers..............I am now regretting the decision to remain with BT as my broadband provider, as despite being told that everything would be transferred 'smoothly' and on time, I am now left without any broadband connection, which I urgently need for the business I run from home.
    I've been calling BT customer services for a week now and every time I get someone from their Indian call centres, who seem incapable of telling what the problem is and when it will be resolved. Time after time they have said they will get a supervisor or manager to call me back and not once have they done so.
    This is a nightmare, how can a major company like BT be so unprofessional.
    I need to speak to someone in the UK who can actually tell me what the problem is and when it will be resolved.

  • Who can answer all my shuffle problems?

    i got the ipod shuffle 1gb version for christmas, and it all seemed to work just fine. i used it with my ibook a few times - transfered some songs to it, listened to it, and just left it for a couple of days on a table, switched off.
    then, when i tried to turn it on a play some songs again, it just started blinking the orange/green error combination. (the key lock is not on). it wont play any songs, and when i connect it to my ibook usb (i've tried both ports), it wont appear anywhere! not on the desktop, and not in itunes. i've also tried different emacs, and two pcs.
    it just keeps blinking orange till i remove it. it had not been faulty removed before this - i always click the "release/eject" sign first, and wait for it to be ready.
    well, i returned it to apple, and got a new one. i put it in the usb, and it worked fine. transfered the songs again, and tried it last night. it played the songs just fine. then i turned it off, and left it till i woke up this morning. i'd been looking forward to listen to music on the bus again, but guess what! the same problem has returned - ipod shuffle is, once again, not working!
    just to mention it, i've tried all the steps and solutions on the apple support site, and i've also searched different forums. i hope theres someone out there who can help me with this problem, cause it REALLY annoys me.
    i run osx 10.4.4 on an ibook g4, and have the newest version of itunes. theres no use in downloading a ipod update, since it wont find my ipod.

    I also bought a Shuffle at Christmas time and I have the same problem (blinking intermitent orange / green light and iPod invisible in Finder, iTunes, etc). It worked at first but it stopped working right after I uploaded a new playlist. Like Alejandro, I bought mine in North America (Canada) but am now in Africa so I cannot exchange the iPod.
