Why acquisiton of waveform is slow when record lenght is high

Hi,
I'm acquiring waveforms of very high record lenght upto 2000000 samples. Hence my application is too slow in response/to acquire the waveform from scope. what might be reason for this & plz provide me with a possible solution to make the acquisition faster.
Thanks in advance
sayaf.

Hi sayaf
The description you have give is very insuffieicent to come to any conclusion. but i think folllowing consideration might help you
1. your data acquisition and data processing should be in separate loops so that DAQ loop dont have to wait untill the data gets processed.
2. make sure your Queues dont get huge backlog.
3. If you are transfering data through TCP then make sure it supports the bandwidth.
4. try to write the code in such a way that Data acquisition loop will have high priority over processing loop.
5 Dont use AI Read only once to read whole data in one shot, but read number of small packets so process loop can get time to process data while your card is still acquiring data.
I hope i can help you in better way if you can tell me about your problem more specifically, or if you can share your code then i can suggest some modifications for improved performance

  • Why the response is very slow when the DNS enrty of server PC is removed ??

    Hi
    Though this subject has been already discussed at many places,im unable to get the clue.Here is my problem.In my office (LAN),server and client are running at different PC.After DNS entry of server PC is removed from DNS server,the page loading and every request & response between client and server is very slow.It takes 2 minutes for each and every request.And coming to the possible solutions,is "configuring the server PC in DNS server" is the only solution?When both the server and client PCs are DNS configured i dont see any issue or slowdown.Any help would be really appreciated
    Assuming it is a lookup issue,i have written the following test application.
    public class DnsName
    public static void main(String[] arg)
    String ipaddress = "";
    String hostaddress = "";
    if(arg.length == 1)
    ipaddress = arg[0];
    else
    System.out.println("!!!!!!Usage : java DnsName <ipaddress>");
    System.exit(0);
    System.out.println("Time before processing : " + System.currentTimeMillis());
    try
    hostaddress = (InetAddress.getByName(ipaddress)).getHostName();
    catch(UnknownHostException uhe)
    System.out.println("Exception occured " + uhe);
    System.out.println("Ip address : " + ipaddress);
    System.out.println("Host name : " + hostaddress);
    System.out.println("Time after processing : " + System.currentTimeMillis());
    When it was compiled and run on a linux PC,time difference betwwen process is around 50ms,but when the same application is run in a Windows PC,the time difference is around 4-5 seconds(4000ms).Can anyone tell me what makes the difference in Windows??

    When you do getHostName() on an InetAddress, what you're doing is asking the OS to do a reverse lookup. So basically this is a windoze problem, not a java problem (although that probably doesn't help you much) Try searching google to see why a windows reverse lookup might be so slow and go from there.

  • Why is my MacBook Pro slowe when I open it off line to view photo images?

    I had recently activated iCloud. I have it set not to copy my photos or data, but only settings and a few other categories. I opened it offline in Preview to quickly view photos on memory cards. I found it slow, with a drop down box periodically flashing open from  the top of the screen. It appears to be attempting to copy or save my images. I presume this is to iCloud, though I have it specifically unchecked and do not want it saved to iCloud. I have Dropbox, which I quit, so it is not a factor. I never save my photo images there either. In the past, it was never problem to open and view images with Preview. Now it is extremely slow to open and load images for contact sheet view. All this is recent with the addition of Mavericks and iCloud. Also, I attempted to get  out of this by quitting, but had to resort to a forced quit, as it continued to do what it was doing.
    Is there a way to be sure iCloud is not copying things and slowing down my computer? Is this a glitch caused by Mavericks?
    I have done scans with Sophos Antivirus and it does not appear I have any virus. I have lost all the speed of having a Mac. It is now slower than my old dual core Acer PC. I recently added a Caldigit Thunderbolt dock which has worked great to add USB 3.0 to  my early 2011 MacBook Pro which had not 3.0 ability, but this
    was bypassed, as my card reader is only 2.0. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    I think I have found the source of my problem detailed above. Apparently, there have been problems with Preview running on OS Mavericks, dating back to October 2013, which Apple has yet to acknowledge or address. Many have had similar problems with photo images loading very slowly to the point of making Preview unuseable.
    It may also explain problems I have had with flash drives and hard drives that ran on my Mac Book Pro under Lion no longer working  since upgrading to Mavericks. I found other postings on these issues.
    It is a shame that I have to resort to Google as the best source to identify problems with my Mac and possible solutions. In many cases, it directs me to the source on Apple Support, which is difficult to find when one attempts a search via Apple Support. This could use some improvement.
    I am new to using community support sites and Apple does not seem  to provide simple, clear directions  on how to get started. Jumping in with both feet, not only did I get wet, but I apparently "splashed" someone, as I got a hostile response from another community member on the first issue ever posted. I never did get an answer to the problem, though. I hope some find these comments helpful.
    Oh, and wake up, Apple. We all would hope you monitor and glean information from these postings and act promptly to remedy problems with OS Mavericks.

  • Why does every browser run slow when I am doing something moderately hardware intensive in the background?

    I have looked but I don't even really know what to call this. But I can reproduce it everytime without fail and I don't understand.
    Steps to Reporduce
    Load up Safari (or chrome, whatever it doesn't matter, those two browsers have the excat same problem)
    Do some browsing. Not much just check your email or something (doesn't matter what you do)
    Run a application that uses some CPU. (Go play a game, or run handbreak, open parallells, anything that causes a bit of load)
    Go back to the browser and try to browse. Everything is dog slow and unsuable.
    Exit the application (just showing that the app was running while slow browsing)
    Browse sites at normal speed again
    Intresting facts
    I have been dealing with this for a while. So I have discovered a few things before posting here
    There is plenty of free RAM both Inactive and Unused in Activity monitor is over 1G (I have 8G total)
    There is plenty of CPU "room". Nither core is anywhere near 100%
    The goal is under moderate load, so overloading the computer and trying is not what is happening.
    nice-ing proccesses has no effect
    I notice it most when running games, but it happens at other times too, games are just one of the few things that put any load on this mac.
    Other programs work fine. I have never noticed anyother program running slow ever when this is occuring. This includes programs that include the webkit controll, oddly. Though, to be fair, that may not be accurate as I don't experance that as often.
    I have verified disk (everything is fine)
    I have verified permissions (and repaired them, everything is fine)
    Disk and permissions don't seem to have any effect.
    Network traffic does not seem slow, I can transfer files at the same rate when the browsers are slow, or when theyre runnning fine.
    There is no odd hardware plugged in. I have 1 external USB disk that is always plugged in for timemachine and thats it (thoughI have unplugged that with no effect, and I have added other hardware with no effect)
    The websites/pages/browsers seem to run at a normal speed if you don't have them as the active window. Really hard to say if it's just perception cause I am not watching them, or if there is an actuall effect.
    The site being browsed doesn't seem to matter. Any site regaurdless of complexity seems to be effected. It could be Javascript related though that is really hard to tell, but browsing sites without any javascript or even from the local hardrive (test pages with no JS) still take a very long time to load.
    Average page load time is 15-30 seconds during which the whole browser is unresponcive.
    I am mostly talking about safari here as that is what I would really like to use, but chrome has basically the same effect. For this question I am sticking with fixing safari though.
    What I am looking for:
    A fix would be nice
    But I would settle for an explaniation that I can accept.
    I am running a MBP 17" with 8 gigs of ram and the 2.53 GHZ i5 processor. I am fully up to date with both Lion and Safari.

    Also would like to say DNS resolution is not the problem. I do not use my ISPs DNS servers. I use Google's public DNS servers and a in house caching DNS. DNS resolution is fine, outside the browser and the pages are getting "stuck" while loading not while transfering, or resolving.

  • Why is Diadem DAC is slow when reading over TCP/IP?

    Hi,
    I wrote a small VB Script in order to comunicate with a Power Supply over TCP/IP in Diadem DAC, when I first run it, it works perfectly but if I I stop the program and run it again it is suddenly very slow. The only way to make it run normaly again is If I restart Diadem.
    Am I closing my TCP/IP connection correctly? I am not sure what the problem could be.

    Hi,
    sorry, but I've no answer to this question but nearly the same problem.
    I wrote a small Qt socket app. which provides a TCP-Server sending every 100 ms.
    I'd like to have Diadem plotting the sent data - I setup a 25 ms refresh rate but
    the actual refresh lasts for about 1 s!! The sent values seem to reach Diadem
    but the processing needs very much time, hence the processor load goes
    directly to 100% which seems to be very strange. I put my code for reading
    the values into the TCP script driver template - SFD_ReadChannel method.
    If comment out the "oUDIM.read()" the refresh is as expected, with the read
    command everything slows down dramatically?
    What's the mistake?
    Best regards and thanks for your help...

  • Why does Photoshop CC running slow when using Mixer brush tool

    Why does Photoshop CC and Photoshop C6 running SOOO slowly when using Mixer brush tool??
    Only to create one stroke it takes several seconds.
    I have to wait a long time to do next stroke. I can't work with this. How do I fix this??
    I have a new computer, a Mac Book Pro with 16 GB ram, so I have plenty of ram.

    You really have to keep your brush size small with the Mixer Brush tool.  And that necessitates keeping your canvas failry small as well.
    Back a few years ago I did a whole painting with the Mixer Brush once and some of the bristle brushes - just to see if I could - and I found I had to really limit the brush size (e.g., to 50 to 75) in order to get enough responsiveness to keep painting.  In that case my canvas was 4096 x 5120.  It's not impossible to get a good, professional result, but you have to be careful about sizing things right.

    Because it does a DNS lookup. And without a server, the interface must wait for a timeout.

  • Why is my iphone 4 slow when updating apps

    Does anyone know why it takes days to update some of my apps?

    What connection are you using to update the apss? e.g. 3G/4G/LTE/WiFi
    If you have a very slow connection that could be the cause of the issue but then again it shouldnt take a couple of days to update an app.

  • Why is my iTunes so slow when used on an external drive

    I have an late 2006 iMac Intel 2.0GHz w/ 512mb ram, Model MA200LL. It has a 250GB HD. 13.4GB of used space on the internal HD. The problem has occurred when it had Tiger and has persisted through Leopard 10.5.2.
    I have 125GB of music on a Seagate Free Agent 250GB external hard drive. When I try to delete a song it takes 87 seconds to delete. When I scroll through the 22,222 songs I get a spinning wheel for 10 - 15 seconds. Switching songs works very good.
    I used the same external drive on my Mac Pro (2.66GHz - 1GB Ram) and when I try the same actions it works instantly.
    The same issues arises when I used a 500GB WD World Book external hard drive.
    I have run Onyx which reported no problems with the internal hard drive.
    Should I expect to delete files quicker on the iMac in iTunes? If there is a problem, what can I do so that I get iTunes to perform better using an external drive?
    Thank you.

    One thing that you can do in general to help overall performance is upgrade your RAM. The late 2006 iMacs should be able to take up to 3GB of RAM(some people install 4GB anyway) but even going up to 2GB should help your system a lot. Besides RAM is cheap these days: http://eshop.macsales.com/MyOWC/Upgrades.cfm?model=288&type=Memory&TI=3454&shoup grds=Show+Upgrades
    The Free Agent drives are USB only so for one thing USB will be slower than your internal drive by at least half, however it still shouldn't take 10-15 seconds to access unless something else is going on. What version of iTunes do you have? Did you try Repairing the Disk Permissions and Verifying your internal drive? Try resetting the SMC and see if that helps: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303446
    Should I expect to delete files quicker on the iMac in iTunes? If there is a

    drive?
    Yes. The internal drive inside your iMac has read/write speeds somewhere between 55-65MB/sec while your USB will max out at about 30MB/sec. This may not fix your problem but just as recommendation, next time purchase an external drive that has a Firewire connection. Firewire 400 maxes out at about 40MB/sec but overall performance is usually better than USB 2.0.

  • Why is safari 5 so slow when loading media rich content?

    I have G5 1.8 GHZ just before they upgraded to the 1.9.  I recently upgraded the RAM to 2 GB in order to download snow leopard so that I could use my ipad 2 and ipod.  After installing and updating, to
      System Version:          Mac OS X 10.6.8 (10K549)
      Kernel Version:          Darwin 10.8.0
    I've also updated to the most recent version of Safari 5 and Adobe Flash 11.  I use a cable modem/wireless router Motorola SB901 model.
    Safari pens a page say cnn, loading half the content usually text and borders/headers very quickly, but severly lags when loading pictures, and videos. Once the player starts the video actually buffers pretty quickly.
    This has become a major problem and setback as now we can use our new devices but our home internet experience is horrible.
    Other devices such as the ipad or even my xbox work just fine streaming content quickly or gaming.
    I've done the cache empty, history, clean and the like. Changed the DNS server as recommended.  Unclicked the enable plug in button.  All to no avail.
    I am on a home secured network so bandwith is not an issue.
    Please help!

  • Why has my Ipad become slow when loading Keynote presentations?

    I use Keynote on Ipad as a presentation tool.  Recently, the Ipad has been slow to load a presentation (up to 3 seconds after selecting a particular presentation).  It also randomly updates presentations that haven't been used recently.  Any thoughts?

    Restore iPad to Factory Default; do not restore from backup. It may be the cause of the problem.

  • Why is Illustrator 6 so slow when saving?

    AI6 is very slow on some saves.  Nothing fancy with this file.  No gradients, no clipping masks, no placed images, simply color line art.  I run a Mac Pro  with 16Gb ram and Tb raid drives .  I've had this problem with a few other files and I think in CS5.

    AICS6 should not be any slower then CS5, only faster with 64-bit support.
    Do an info on your file to check the size. Then do a save as, and turn off pdf compatible(you only need that on if you are going to place the file into another application like InDesign), that should make the file smaller. I would then recommend running applications >> utilites >> disk utility to fix permissions.
    There are other problems that can make files slow(search deleted global colors), so let us know your file size, and if copying/pasting is slow.
