Why after updating to ios 7 on iphone 4g do I have 2 facebook icons?  Only one works.  How do I get rid of the other one?

I recently update to the new ios 7 software on iphone 4.  Now I have 2 app icons for facebook.  Only one works and opens facebook.  How do I get rid of the other?  Tried deleting it out the old way but it has no "x" to take it out with?

okay never mind.  I powered off and back on and the second not working icon is gone.  So if anybody else has this same problem, give it a try

  • Since downloading ios5 on my iphone 4 the capacity guage in itunes shows other as over 21Gb and i can no longer fit any music on it. How do I get rid of the other stuff? other

Since downloading ios5 on my iphone 4 a few days ago, the capacity guage in itunes shows "other" as over 21Gb and i can no longer fit any music on my iphone.
How do I get rid of the other stuff?
capacity available on 32 Gb iphone is 28.49Gb
i previously had 21.97 Gb music, over 6 Gb photos, about 1Gb of apps, and minute amount of audio
now i have no music, 5.4 Gb photos and similar (0.8Gb) for  apps and audio. i have deleted heaps of photos and unused apps to try to make space but obviosly this is a much bigger problem. I also created a smaller music folder on itunes to sync to but at present no music is selected for syncing due to the lack of available space.
i have 15Gb icloud account now also which is about half full.
Ive done a little research and heard similar tales but with much smaller other totals than this. Can you help?
i cant update my apps as i get a message saying i do not have enough available space.

I had the same problem today and was able to resolve it without having to do a restore or reset. The problem had something to do with my mail accounts. The upgrade reset my mail settings, switching both my gmail and my .mac mail to "archive all mail". I went into the General Settings, disabled that setting, and resynced the phone. The "other" storage allottment dropped back down to less than a gig.
Before you restore or reset, I would try that first.

You will Not be able to get rid of it entirely...
Other is usually around 1 GB...
A  ' Large Other ' usually indicates Corrupt Data...
First Try a Restore from Backup...
But... if the Large Other Persists, that is an Indicator of Corrupt Data in the Backup...
Then a Restore as New is the way to go...

  • How do you get rid of the "other" space on an iphone 4

I want to know how to get rid of the "other" space on an iPhone 4 that doesn't require you restoring your phone back to factory settings. I currently have the iOS 6.1.3 software update, I have 0.99 GB of Audio, 1.65 GB of Photos, 1 GB of Apps, 0.02 GB of Books, 2.8 GB of Other, and 0.02 GB of Free. Please help!
    -Thank You

    Other data
Should only be about 1GB and larger than this may indicate corrupt data

  • How do I get rid of the "other" data on my iPhone 4?

The "other" data on my iPhone 4 is currently taking up 4.5 gb of my 6.4 gb phone. As you can see I'm not very happy about this. I am basically limited too about ten apps and I cannot download iOS 7 due to my lack of storage. I was wondering if there were any ways to get rid if the "other" data without resetting my iPhone. I cannot reset my iPhone because my family has a shared data plan and a limited amount of storage to back up to on iCloud. We don't have enough storage on iCloud to backup the 5.8 gb I'm using because of the other data. Any help?

You would need to restore the iphone.

  • How do i get rid of the other data on my iphone 4s

I have tried restoring my iphone, but the "other" data returns and continues to take up over 1.5G of my space. I would really like to get rid of the "other" data for good.

"Other" is YOUR DATA. If you get rid of it you will lose your email messages and settings, all of your texts and iMessages, all of your system settings, etc.
"Other" data is real data that you put on your phone by using the built in apps. It is not music, not videos, not pictures and not App Store app data. It is "OTHER" meaning everything that does not fall into these categories. Such as:
    email messages and attachments
    Reminders
    Notes
    Calendar entries
    Contacts
    Text messages
    MMS messages and attachments
    Genius data
    Music cover art
    Operating system settings
    Safari cache
    bookmarks
    Game Center status
    Music catalog

  • How do I get rid of the "other" storage on my iPhone?

I have 4GB of "Other" on my iPhone, where is that going to and how do I get rid of it? I have cleared out all of my browsing data and email history and it went down 1GB but I'm not sure where the rest is

I don't have the reference KB, but I remember being told that a restore to factory settings and restore from backup can clear most of that.

  • ICloud  Drive is still upgrading many hrs after updating to IOS 8 on my 5s.  Anyone else having this problem?  How do I get it to finish?

How do I get the iCloud Drive upgrade to finish? is there a way to interrupt it?
It's been over 5 hrs since I updated my 5s to IOS8 and the swirly thing is still swirling next to iCloud Drive in my phone's iCloud settings.

    Hello purplechemist,
I would be concerned too if my iPhone was not turning off.  I'm not sure if you have tried this, but I recommend first trying to reset your iPhone:
    Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
You can find the full article here:
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting

If the issue persists after the reset, I recommend restoring your iPhone.  You can find steps for backing up and restoring your iPhone in the following links:

  • How do you get rid of the "other" stored on the iPhone 5?

I already restored it like other discussions suggested and it just added another 8GB of "other" onto my iPhone. I now have 14.79GB of "other"!!!! I use a 32GB iPhone 5 on iOS 6.0.2 and I have a fully updated Mac. Could anyone help me please?

The next step is to restore your iPhone as new and then manually restore from your backup.
You must have a lot of corrupted files that need to be removed.  This process will remove them.

  • HT4528 How do I get rid of the "Other" on my Iphone?

I have deleted almost everything completely from my iphone, down to every message, every emai, almost every picture as well. SO far, for photos i only used up 1.75 GB, 248.6 MB of videos i took, 1.2 MB for ringtones, and 39.2 MB for apps. BUT, my real problem is why does "other" say i used 2.67 GB?????... i am REALLY frustrated and need to get rid of other. I synched and it made it worse. Someone please help???

There could be corrupt files. Try a reset by holding down both the Home and Power keys for 10 to 15 sec.

  • I just updated my MacBook pro early 2011 model to OSX 10.9 and was forced to create a new user(administrator) and ended up with a different configuration. If I login with my original user name everything is back. How can I get rid of the other user name?

I have two user names with Administrator privelages and my MacBook keeps booting up to the wrong one and I have the wrong configuration since I updated to OSX 10.9. I would like to get back to my original User name which I used to boot up to. When I go to the User Groups and Preferences it doesn't allow me to delete the un-wanted user.
Does anybody have any suggestions how I can fix this? I can't seem to recover Time Capsule back-ups prior to the OSX upgrade even though I have been faithfully backing up to a Time Machine.
    Help please.

First of all, open System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login Options, and set your old user account in "Automatic login". By doing this, your computer will always log in with your old account.
Then, log in your old account, where you will be able to delete the new user that OS X Mavericks forced you to create. Other users have reported the same problem

  • How do I get rid of the "other" from my iPhone?

I know this question has been asked a lot. I've tried deleting all but my most important text messages, deleting apps I hardly use, limiting the music I keep on my phone, and I always keep my pictures before 300.
The "other" on my phone is at 3.81 GB which I know is way too much. I am constantly deleting things from my phone so that I have space if I need it but the other is very annoying.
I read somewhere that if you do a complete restore and don't use a backup, the other goes away. The only thing is that I have conversations that I need to save and if I restore my phone without a backup, I will lose them.
Anyone have any other ideas? Or any way to save my messages without the backup?

Actually, "Other" can never go away.  It includes, among other things, the iOS itself.  The smallest it can get is roughly 1 gigabyte.
"Other" includes deleted emails that are still residing in your trash, as well as actual email messages.
You might have one or more corrupted apps on your machine.  Carefully consider which apps you restore once you perform the cleanup, or the "Other" will once again grow large.

  • We have two different iTunes accounts the old one is an e mail we don't have anymore how do I get rid of the old one so it doesn't come up when I want to update or download an app I've had before? Just want to use the the new account and do away with old

We have two iTunes accounts we don't want to use our old account cause the password doesn't work how do we just use our new account? The problem is when we update apps it will ask for our password to our old account and when we go to down load an app we have had before it wants to go thru our old account now do we only use new account?

Welcome to the Apple community Todc.
Besides signing out of the account, you will need to delete the apps on the device that were purchased under that ID.
