Why are my objects snapping?

Hello Illustrator forum,
I've got a bit of trouble with Illustrator that I assume has a really simple answer but I can't seem to find the preference for it. My objects seem to be snapping to place but, as far as I can tell, I have all those settings disabled. Anybody know what I'm missing?
Things to note:
View > Snap to Grid > Disabled
View > Snap to point > Disabled
Preferences > Selection and Anchor display > Snap to point > Disabled
Any help you guys could give me would be great!

Hey oh!
I did. I actually just tried it again and it looks like it was my error as I didn't remove it off the circle as well. Thanks for your help, this seems to have solved it for me!
On a second note, do you know if there's a way in which one turns this off by default? This doesn't seem to be a very helpful option.
Edit: Ah, just saw the addition to your first post. Thanks for your help! Beer's on me!

  • Why are BC objects created in user's schema

    Server = Sun Sparc SunOS 5.8, Oracle 8.1.7.4 SID
    Client = Windows 2000, Oracle 9iDS (v9.0.2 w/Jdeveloper v9.0.3)
    Network = 100MB TCP/IP
    I have a schema with relatively large (in my mind) tables master = 225,000 records; detail = 1,200,000 records.
    I've used Jdeveloper 9i to create a business components (Java based) view of these tables.
    When I execute the view (query) and request the last record of the master table, this action takes approximately 1 hr and 40 minutes to accomplish.
    The database is in archive mode.
    The redo logs (3) on the database were 500 KB files (the default created by the DBCA). I was seeing archive files created on the order of one every 10 seconds. I increased the logfiles to be 200 MB and now appear to be getting archives once every 10 minutes.
    I've tracked it down to something taking place in the connected user's tablespace during the query.
    I created a separate tablespace (with it's own temporary tablespace) for my test user. If I did not grant unlimited tablespace to this user, the query failed because the user did not have privilege on the tablespace.
    When I granted unlimited tablespace (is there no middle ground??), the tablespace grew to 290 MB from 128 KB. After disconnecting from the query (quitting the application) the tablespace remained at 290 MB. Upon restarting the query, the used tablespace initially shrunk back to 650KB and then grew again to 290 MB. The temporary tablespace never changed or seemed to be accessed. Both times the query took about1 hr and 40 minutes
    9 objects were created in the users schema, 3 tables, 4 indexes and 2 LOBs.
    My question is why these thing s need to be created for tables that are already indexed and why they would not stay populated for quick reuse. If every one of my users create and populate these tables and indexes for each query session, Ill soon run out of disk space, to say nothing about the ridiculously poor performance.
    Have I made some basic error in the creation of my business components that cause this condition?

    It will spew out a whole lot of diagnostic output. Copy and post that diag and let me have a look at it.Here goes ...... and guess what .... this actually worked, there was no tables created in the user schema and the query only took about 3 or 4 minutes. Something quirky in the JDeveloper / tester way of doing business ???

  • Why are my objects moving past their keyframe mark?

    I'm trying to create a twitch and slide effect with a company logo coming in and going out of frame. After the first twitch, during the slide, the object moves past it's keyframe, then moves backwards, then forwards again before it's commands to leave the frame.
    I'm using 4 keyframes - The 1st to 2nd is the twitch into frame (Right to Left). 2nd to 3rd a the slow slide (that somehow goes past the 3rd keyframe the goes backwards, passes it a second time, then forwards. Still Right to Left), and the 3rd to 4th is the twitch out of frame (from Right to Left). There is no indication that the speed curves are going below 0 px/sec. I'm using easy ease on all the movements and haven't adjusted the curves to make the twitch effect yet.
    Why is this happening and how do I remedy this?

    In your comp window view the motion path. Set the comp viewer Zoom Factor to 200 or 400% if needed. Look for bezier handles on the keyframe. Press the g key to bring up the pen tool then hold down the alt/option key to reveal the convert vertex tool (looks like a sideways V) and click on the keyframe. The bezier handles will go away and your problem will be solved.
    If the path is curved you may have to adjust bezier handles individually to remove the bounce.

  • Why are some objects not printing from Illustrator after I print to PDF?

    Hi,
    I've printed a large Illustrator CS6 document to PDF (using Adobe PDF setting in print dialog box), and it looks just fine when I view the PDF. The problem is that some lines do not print when I try to print the PDF on paper. I've tried adjusting settings and printing to the PDF in different ways, but can't figure it out. Everything looks great on the screen, but some lines are missing once printed to paper. Others have tried printing the PDF as well and are also getting missing lines.
    Any suggestions?! Thanks!

    I've tried selecting print all layers, and I'm also tiling the pages to a custom page size. I've left all the other settings at default. Everything looks perfect on screen, but parts of the same object do not print. I tried to attach a screen shot but am getting an error. Basically each page has a border around it, and one side of the border is not printing on certain pages.

  • Why are 3D objects incredibly small when exported from Photoshop CS6?

    When I attempt to export 3D objects for use in Apple's iBooks Author software—say, a Collada 3D model of Earth for a children's science book—from Photoshop CS6, the object comes out impossibly small or completely invisible. It will work just fine in Photoshop, but if I view it in Finder using Quick Look, open it in Preview, or drop it into an iBooks Author project, the object appears so small that it's useless. No amount of scaling it in said software corrects the issue, either.
    What happened? Is there a new export preset I'm missing? I used this exact same process in Photoshop CS5, and it worked wonderfully.
    Thank you!

    HI,
    Am also having similar problem with exporting 3d model into ibook or iauthor.
    Any help ?

  • Why are 3D objects a different colour when previewed on iPad?

    I'm testing a simple 3D cube in the 3D widget and the colour of the .dae file is a dark blue. In iBooks Author on my mac it displays properly but when I preview it on the iPad the blue turns turquoise and it horribly inaccurate.
    Is this an issue anybody else is finding? Could it be to do with the blue colours in particular or the lights in the .dae file?
    Any tips welcome

  • Order Settlement to another B area cost objects

    Dear all
    In my requirement We are carrying the work at one Business area on behalf of another business area. The maintenance order has some expenses amount,after completion of the job i need to settle into another business areas cost objects. But sap is giving the error only. Is ot possible?

    Thenna,
    Message to all: you really should get an OSS logon - its free and would save us all a lot of time...
    However, this looks like a FICO issue... and here is the OSS Note text:
    During settlement error message KD256 is output
    "There are no accrued amounts; settlement is not possible".
    The error message and the long text do not supply sufficient information on the causes for the error message.
    Additional key words
    CJ88, CJ8G, VA88, KO88, KO8G, CO88
    Cause and prerequisites
    Preconditions for message KD256 are:
    1. The sender carries a results analysis key
    and
    2. it is
    a) a sender with revenue
    or
    b) a production order with FUL rule to product which in the settlement period has neither the status DLV nor the status TECO
    or
    c) a WBS element which does not have the status TECO
    or
    d) an order, which in the settlement period has neither the status DLV nor the status TECO, and the indicator 'WIP on dependent orders' is in the results analysis version.
    In these cases, only data from accrual calculation is settled. In the cases b) to d), no actual costs are settled to the receiver of the settlement rule.
    The error message is now output
    1. if no accrual calculation has been carried out,
    or
    2. the accrued data have already been settled
    or
    3. the flag 'Settlement to FI' has not been set in any of the results analysis versions
    or
    4. no posting rules have been defined for any of the results analysis categories.
    Solution
    1. Check for the cases b), c) and d) whether the sender already had the status GLV or TECO in the settlement period, that is, whether the delivery date or the date of the technical closure is prior to the posting date of the settlement. If this is not the case, the system continues to determine and settle in period WIP.
    Note: Prior to Release 4.0, the system did not update the date of the technical closure with WBS elements. This is why the date of the technical closure was not checked in Release 3.0/3.1. This was an error in Release 3.0/3.1.
    2. Check the settings in the Customizing of accrual calculation, that is, check the flags 'Settlement to FI' in the results analysis version and check the posting rules.
    3. Check the previous settlements for the sender. For this use the function 'Extras -> Previous settlements' on the initial screen of the settlement.
    4. If necessary, start accrual calculation for the sender again and start the settlement again afterwards.

  • Why are all paths in Clipping Masks and Compound Paths?

    When I open up previous versions of Illustrator files (i.e. CS5), why are all of my paths messed up. Every object is embedded in a Clipping Mask, paths are compounded and in most cases type on a path is expanded into multiple non-editable objects. This causes complete redesign. This is terrible.

    Because Illustrator accessed the PDF part of the file.
    ---> this points to corrupt files.
    How were those files transferred to your computer? Are they on a server?
    How old are they?
    Which versions were they created in?
    Did you already try to restart (the computer)?
    Any plugins installed?

  • Why Bother with Objective C?

    Given the tools out there for writing iOS apps in HTML, Jquery, C#, Ruby, etc, including some with generate apps that can run on both Android and iOS,
    why bother writing in Objective C?
    What are the advantages?
    thx

    RubyMotion is not a bridge or an interpreter or a wrapper, it is built directly on top of the Objective-C run time, so there isn't really a downside if Ruby is your thing.
    Interesting. Do you know of any similar projects with different languages? RubyMotion looks cool, but only if, as you say, "Ruby is your thing". For me, it is just another syntax. Objective-C is just C with a few "@" characters and a lot of "[]", so why bother? Now if there was a Perl front-end, that would be interesting.
    I found the following list of LLVM front-ends:
    Here is a tutorial on building your own: http://gnuu.org/2009/09/18/writing-your-own-toy-compiler/
    LLVM Projects page has more information: http://llvm.org/ProjectsWithLLVM/
    Now, where am I going to find a BNF for Perl
    PS: Yes, I know about CamelBones. Unfortunately, both the project and its author are no more.
    But to get back to the question of why bother with Objective-C, the answer is clearly the Objective-C runtime. It doesn't turn C into Perl, but it comes quite close. It comes so close that it really isn't worth ones time to bother with Objective-Perl.

  • Exchange 2007 Management shell issue: "There are multiple objects matching the identity "servername" Please specify a unique value"

    I thought this would be an easy answer to an issue I'm facing, but there's a problem executing the solution.
    I'm running Exchange 2007 in a clustered SCC configuration.  The clustered resource is called "DENBURYMAIL."  I want to give my account full mailbox access rights to all the mailboxes in this resource/database.
    I believe I found the solution to this at
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb310792%28EXCHG.80%29.aspx (about halfway down the page) the instructions read as follows:
    ==============================
     Q: I have a third-party messaging application that requires full access to each user's mailbox. With Exchange Server 5.5, we grant a special account the Service Account Admin permissions, and then tell the application to use this account. How
    can I achieve similar functionality in Exchange 2007?
    A: Exchange 2007 security works differently from that of Exchange Server 5.5. In fact, Exchange 2007 does not use a site service account. Instead, all services start as the local computer account.
    If your logon account is the Administrator account, a member of the root Domain Administrators, a member of the Enterprise Administrators groups, or a member of the Exchange Organization Administrators role, you are explicitly denied access to all mailboxes
    that are not your mailbox, even if you have full administrative rights over the Exchange system. All Exchange 2007 administrative tasks can be performed without having to grant an administrator sufficient rights to read other people's mail.
    You can achieve the results that you want in the following ways, but do so only in accordance with your organization's security and privacy policies:
    In the Exchange Management Shell, use the following command to allow access to all mailboxes on a given mailbox store:
    Add-ADPermission -identity "mailbox database" -user "serviceaccount" -ExtendedRights Receive-As
    =============================
    But when I run the command (Add-ADPermission -identity "denburymail" -user "matthew.fazio" -ExtendedRights Receive-As) I get an error telling me that "There are multiple objects matching the identity "DENBURYMAIL."  Please Specify a unique value."
    I'm not sure what's causing this-- why are there "multiple objects?"  Is this a problem due to operating in a clustered environment?
    Any assistance would be appreciated!

    It may not be specific enough for the command to understand you.
    Try this:
    Get-MailboxDatabase -Server <servername> | Add-ADPermission -user "matthew.fazio" -ExtendedRights Receive-As

    Thank you!<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
    Hi, Oracle8 and Oracle8i will provide you object relational model. It is not pure object-oriented solution. In the field of databases it is difficult to impliment pure object-oriented solution now a days. But it is easy to understand and design an object-relational design and implimentation. In Oracle8 there are some very useful facilities for such a design like the concept of nested tables. I had a project of defence nature and design in object-relational technique and find much easy and understandable then pure relational approach. If it is possible for you then please be contect with me on mail and send me a little information about your work and experience.

    Why are you updating me with a trojan program ?????????

    (Moderator altered links, because they are malicious)

    Could you explain what you mean by "updating"? Did your antivirus pick this up while Firefox was updating or while you were browsing the Internet?
    If you were browsing the Internet (While visitting the hxxp://xtrastudio<i></i>.com link), then that website was infected and not a Firefox problem. I would advise you to not visit the website again though, unless they manage to fix the infection as the antivirus managed to block it now, but it might not be able to the next time.
    If it happened during the "Firefox is updating" window when you tried to start Firefox, then it pretty serious.
    If you could answer that question, we will probably be able to help you. Good luck :)

  • Why are static methods called with null references,valid ?

    This is my code :
    package inheritance;
    public class inh6{
         public static void method(){
         System.out.println("Called");
         public static void main(String[] args){
              inh6 t4 = null;
         t4.method();
    O/P :
    CalledHere t4 is a null reference and yet we are able to call a method on it,why is null pointerexception not thrown.Why are we able to call static methods using null references ?
    t4 is null means it doesnot refer to any memeory address,hence how is method() called correctly.
    I hope i am clear. :)
    Thank you for your consideration.

    By memory address i mean the memory location the reference is pointing to.I know what you mean. But if you think it's relevant, can you show me where in the JLS it says anything about memory locations?
    >
    You can do that because a) t4's type is "reference to inh6" and b) method() is declared static, which means that you don't need an object to call it, just the class. That class comes from the compile time type of t4. The fact that t4 is null at runtime is irrelevant.
    So at compile time the type of t4 is inh6 and hence the method is called.Is it ? Had method() not been static a NullPointerException would have been thrown.Correct.
    With non-static, non-private, non-final methods, which implementation of the method gets called is determined at runtime, buy the class of the object on which it's being called. If any one of those "non"s goes away, then the method is entirely determined at compile time, and in the case of static methods, there's no instance necessary to call the method in the first place.

  • Why are these protected- finalize() & clone()

    Why are the methods finalize() and clone() declared as protected in Object class when any class that we write extends java.lang.Object? I mean what design considerations made them being declared as protected?

    Object.clone() is protected so that it cannot be called unless the person writing the code intends it to be cloned.
    In other words to make a class cloneable one must over-ride Object.clone() with a public method that does the cloning. In this way the method can only be called if an implementation of the mehtod has been coded.
    Convinced this is poorly explained so reply if you don't get it!
