Why do my older emails have no content in the body of the message?

My older emails in my folders show the sender, addressee and subject but no content in the body of the message.  Why is that the case?  I use my email to save important messages.

This is the Mac Pro desktop forum.
In the received message does the subject appear correctly?
Is just the body message field blank?
What app is the recipient using?
Can they try another pp?
Is there anything strange in the body? Like special characters?

  • Some emails have no content in Outlook 2010, but can be viewed in Webmail

    Dear all
I use Google Apps and use outlook 2010 check mail on port 995
But sometime, my email have no content in outlook
I checked in webmail and I can be viewed in webmail
    Please give me solution

    HI,
Sometimes content in outlook was missing because of third-party antivirus products.
Please try to disable the third-party antivirus to resolve the issue.
If this issue also exists, please check
if there are any third-party plug-ins installed in Outlook.
If so, try disabling all of the third-party plug-ins by the following steps and see if this issue still occurs.
Open Outlook, Click File, choose Options then click Addins.
In the "Manage" drop-down at the bottom of the Addins, select "COM Add-ins" and click “Go”. (Note: To get to the Options window, click on the File tab first.)
Uncheck any add-ins that you are not using and then click OK.
Restart Outlook and then test to see if the issue still occurs.
If this issue still occurs, I’m very glad to know.

  • I have a macbook pro with Lion OS and am using Mac mail.  How do I attach documents as attachments instead of coming up in the body of the email?

How do I attach a file to mac mail without it going into the body of the email?

To add to what Kappy said, note that you really can't control how some other mail client might display an attachment.  Some may display them inline, while others may require them to be opened separately.  And different people have different desires in this area...  some want a PDF file, for example, displayed inline, while others prefer for it not to be.  Just attach the file(s) and don't worry about this so much.
Also, I do have to disagree with Kappy on one point...  I would not say that you "should" compress files and attach the compressed archive file.  That will force all mail clients not to display the attachment inline, but not everyone will want that (you'd be forcing your tastes on all recipients of your e-mail), and some people have difficulty figuring out how to open and view the contents of compressed files.  It's an extra step for you and an extra step for the recipient, and is not needed for most popular file types.  (Of course, we could advise you more specifically if we knew what file types you're dealing with.)

  • TS3274 Email display problem: My email only display the list of emails and a preview (first two lines of the body of the mail). If one click on the message it only shows the heading on the right hand side of the screen, but not the content.

My email only display the list of mails in my in box with a preview of the first two lines of the body of the message. When one clicks on the message to open it, only the header is displayed in the right hand side of the screen - the actual message is missing. This happens on older mail previously downloaded that use to work properly as well. Any idea how to fix this?

Try closing the Mail app completely and see if it works properly when you re-open the app : from the home screen (i.e. not with the Mail app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Mail app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work also do a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

Why do I sometimes receive email attachments in the body of the email and how can I download and print from there?

To save attachments, a couple of options include: (1) control-click on attachment, select "Save Attachment...", (2)  Click on "Show Details" in the upper right corner of the message, which then gives you some attachment functions including "Save".

    @ Philly
    Yes there is,
When you recieve a mail with an attachement (inline or as a picture) right click (or control click) the attachement and choose "show as symbol" or "show fullsize" (or completely or something like that, I don't work in English version). Mail will take this as a general preference.

  • When I forward an email from my Mac Mail, the body of the email I just forwarded shows as an attachment in the recipients outlook.  Is there a way to change this so my clients don't have to open an attachment to read something that I forwarded to them?

When I forward an email from my Mac Mail, the body of the email I just forwarded shows as an attachment in the recipients outlook.  Is there a way to change this so my clients don't have to open an attachment to read something that I forwarded to them?

Open Terminal in Utilties and copy/paste
This will send the attachment embedded inline. (This works in Snow Leopard, but not sure about Lion. Do a test first. If it doesn't work, just google "send attachment embedded + Lion." You don't actually have to send the message to see how it will appear.)
    defaults write com.apple.mail DisableInlineAttachmentViewing 0
To reverse the setting, change the 0 to a 1
However, whether this will work or not will depend on what the e-mail client on the receiver's end does with it.

  • Why does the body of the email vanish??

I have the most annoying issue with mail that is beginning to wind up my clients!
About one in five of the emails I send appear in the other person's inbox with no text in the body of the email – instead, the text is attached in a file (the name of which is something along the lines of ATT1234567.txt). I've narrowed it down, and it seems to be when I've formatted the text (bolds, lists etc) and I think it's when I combine this with attaching another file, commonly a draft PDF I'm sending for approval.
Colleagues know now to check for an attachment and read my comments, but clients just think I'm rude, when they get a PDF sent with no text from me! Any help would be sooooooooo appreciated.

Are you using RTF for message composition or Plain Text?
If RTF, try using Plain Text instead when sending messages thru an Exchange Server. Windows Outlook does the same when using RTF for message composition but sending messages thru an Exchange Server also has an effect.

  • How do I add an attachment to an email and not have it show up in the body of the email?

How do I add an attachment to an email and not have it show up in the body of the email?

You can right click or command-click on the image in the email and select "view as icon".
You can change the default behavior of Mail.app so that it always shows the attachment as the icon:
open a Terminal window (Applications > Utilities > Terminal)
at the prompt, type in this (it must be exact, or copy and paste it in if you have trouble typing things precisely):
defaults write com.apple.mail DisableInlineAttachmentViewing -bool yes
    Then hit return.
To revert to the previous default (where the attachment is visible in-line), you just enter the same command with "no" instead of "yes" at the end.
In either case, however, how the viewer of the email sees the attachment (either as an icon or in-line) depends on how their email client is set up, not on how you send it.

    Try this.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

Tap and hold on the Keyboard key at the bottom right side of the right portion of the keyboard.  You can use the Dock and Merge option from the menu.
Alternatively you can drag the keyboard down and move slightly left, to get it to merge.
