Why Do We Even Bother?

Well, Adobe Forums must have been devised by the crack team, that did Obama-care. We have log-in issues, and then, when trying to help others, we get this:
Not sure why I try to spend my time. The above is continuous with Adobe Premiere Pro.
Hunt

There is a presumption by forum owners that everybody logging here is a hacker or a pirate and so his or her life should be made a hell!!!
I have stopped logging in here because I never could.  Using e-mail is the best method to post on these forums.  Of course not everybody can dp it unless they have been around on these forums before.
By the way, there is absolutely no need to be here unless you are looking for something specific otherwise Google is the best way to find info.

  • Why do we even bother any longer?

I posted the below in another thread... However, I thought it deserved a thread of its own, so... How long this will last before being either:
    1/ Locked
    2/ Removed
    3/ Or whatever...
    ...is a moot point.
Anyway, here's the content of that post:
"You know, why do we even bother any longer?
Maybe we should all just call it a day. That's what they seem to want. Those of us who still want to hang around in the product forums... do that. For the rest, this whole thing has become a joke.
Between the bannings, locked threads, deleted posts... it's worse than a kindergarden. At least, in a kindergarden, if someone cries there's a helping hand. Here, it's the opposite.
So, in all seriousness, maybe we should all call it a day and move on. Visit the individual product forums if we want... impart and absorb what we can... and leave it at that. The old forums are never going to come back.
And what we have here is no longer a joke. It's a nightmare.
    End of story...."
To this, i'd lack to add a simple fact. Despite what the jived up software has done to these forums, the mods here have effectively murdered this one.
The product forums carry on... with about a fraction of the involvement there was earlier... but are still working in a half-a$$ed fashion. Thanks to a few stalwarts.
This forum, which should be the main 'turbulence centre', the forum that keeps everyone on their toes, that tells the powers-that-be what is wrong, is being turned / has been turned into a vanilla flavour of saccharine sweetness.
The jokers and clowns that masquerade as mods sems to have won the day. And, a sad day it is...
Ciao folks... wonder if i'll still be here tomorrow...

To me, the stated issues have not been a problem, but that is just me, and probably due primarily reflective of the particular product fora, that I frequent.
To me, and resulting in the same conclusion, it's more about being able to use the fora to instruct others. That is being compromised, IMO, and is resulting in major frustrations.
OK, this is a bit of a rant, but a mild one. The Adobe product fora do a better job of solving user's problems, than T/S is currently capable of. These fora do the "heavy-lifting," and many more problems are solved.
I do not know the costs of these fora vs the cost of outsourced T/S, but in regards to success, I think that we are way, way ahead. We are doing what T/S once was capable of. Also, there is no direct cost for our services. There are no benefits. Other than being invited to be a beta tester on several programs, Adobe has never offered me anything. Even then, when the program was released, I was not even offered a discount. Still, I do this, 'cause I like to help others, and have been a loyal Adobe user for decades.
However, Adobe (and probably Jive) seem to be working at cross-purposes. They keep making it more difficult for many of use to help other users. Why? I have not a clue. Were I in management, I would look around and would comment that our company has this great asset - knowledgable users, who volunteer their time, to do what we pay T/S for. Why not help them, help others? Makes sense to me, but then I have been out of "corporate US" for many, many years.
    Just my take,

  • Why do I even bother??? New iPod; Same Nonsense

Sorry for venting, but I'm so da*n tired of Apple. I finally gave up on older iPod classic as it was unstable for about a year before finally giving up.
I just bought the new iPod Classic 80 gb. Every time I connect it to iTunes, I get a message that says "iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode. You must restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes."
So I go through the whole process of restoring it - and it seems to be doing it - only to come up with the same message as above. This has happened at least 10 times.
As background: NO, I haven't otherwise handled the iPod; it's new in the box. YES, I completely wiped the old iTunes off my computer; and downloaded the latest version of it. In other words, it's a clean version of iTunes.
HELP; PLEASE. I'm totally on my last legs with Apple. Their BS about being stable, dependable, etc., is nothing but a bunch of BS marketing cr*p.
    Thanks

  • What are smart mailboxes and why do i need both smart and "normal" ones?

What are smart mailboxes and why do I need both smart and "normal" mailboxes?

    Hi Kingoftypos,
Thanks for that clarification. So, now it appears that the ultimate purpose of a Smart Mailbox is to point to all emails that meet the criteria in a single place, so if they are spread among several mailboxes, you will be able to see them all together. Here is an article from Apple that describes it:
A Smart Mailbox displays in one location messages that are stored in other mailboxes, so you don’t have to move messages between mailboxes. The messages displayed by a Smart Mailbox are based on criteria you define, and are automatically updated to include new messages that match your criteria. For example, you might create a Smart Mailbox that displays all messages found in all mailboxes from a specific sender.
If you change a message in a Smart Mailbox, such as marking the message as read or unread, or moving or deleting the message, the change is reflected in the mailbox where the message is actually stored.
So, adam, I would think that, if you had mail going to a lot of different places, and wanted to be able to see a particular set of those in a single place, you would use a smart mailbox. Maybe use the rules to direct your mail to different places to start with, but a smart mailbox to bring a set of common ones all together into a single smart mailbox?
Maybe you have Rules move your Amazon mail to an Amazon folder and your Apple mail to an Apple folder, but then you have a Smart Mailbox that contains any mail that has the word "Receipt" in the Subject line?
    Just a thought....
    Cheers,

  • Why do I have both photoshop cc and photoshop cc (64 bit) in my menu? Which one should I be using?

Why do I have both photoshop cc and photoshop cc (64 bit) in my menu? Which one should I be using?

The majority of the time using the 64 bit version is better, since you have more resources available (ram)
If you need to run some older third party plugins that were only ever offered as 32 bit plugins, then the 32 bit version is the choice.
Or if you happen to use a scanner with twain, then the 32 bit version.

  • Why do we use both servlets & jsps in developing  an application ?

why do we use both servlets & jsps in developing an application & not only jsps

    Hi,
It's a pure question of design : Some like it jsp to jsp and others servlet to jsp. It's up to you to decide and it depends of the complexity of your application.
But the best design is the MVC (servlet and jsp working together) because it helps you separate presentation from logic. It also helps you better maintain you code.

  • Mac IE: should I even bother

Should I even bother to test JavaScript on Mac Internet
Explorer? On the one hand, it's a HUGE pain and Microsoft can't
even be bothered with Mac IE anymore. However, I keep running
across Mac users (some of them clients) who have IE on their fairly
new machines. It's also been my experience that non-savvy users
tend to have browsers 1-2 years out of date. I also have this
theory that scripts should be tested on the crappiest browser, and
    Mac IE qualifies.
What say you? Dinosaur or necessary evil?
For the record, I would like nothing better than to forget
about Mac IE in the same way left behind 640x480 screens; I just
don't know if it's really the right decision.

  • Why cant I see BOTH video tracks at the same time?

I read all the manuals,I swear.
I make film collage and want to do multiple layer exposures of different clips.
So far I just have two video tracks-
Why cant I see BOTH video tracks at the same time,I mean each track will create another layer,or exposure that will both play back viewable simultaneously right ?Or would that be considered "layering"?
Does this have anything to do with the source vs. destination thing ?

FCE plays back video tracks in a "top-down" manner: that is what's on track 3 obscures what's on track 2 which obscures what's on track 1. You can control scale, position and opacity of each clip on each track so that you can get the layering you seem to be after.

  • TRAVELING OVERSEAS with the IPHONE. WHAT TO DO????  SHOULD I EVEN BOTHER??

Hi all! So I'll be going to Europe (7 different countries) for 2 weeks later this year and need to know what's the best and cheapest option (if those 2 even go together) if I want to use my Iphone 3G over seas... or if i should even bother using my iphone there.
I'm trying to avoid using AT&T's international service because its charging an arm and a leg with little data and voice usages.
What other options do I have?
What have you experienced before traveling over seas using the Iphone?
I've heard about Prepaid SIM cards but I'm reading it won't work on a regular locked Iphone.. and i would have to unlock it in order to use a prepaid sim?? True?
Or is my best option really to NOT bring my iphone and buy another phone on Ebay or something that can be used over seas (is it a dual band phone or quad band phone?)and then buy a prepaid sim to use for that?
I mean it'd be nice to have a smart phone with me and take some pics of the Eiffel Tower, Leaning Tower of Pisa, and post it on my facebook on the spot, or if I'm roaming around I'd like to see where's the closest ABC place vs XYZ place, or look at Google Maps or what ever map ppl use in Europe, on my phone for walking directions.
I won't be making long calls back to the US or anything, the only calls I'll really be making are.. maybe when I get to Paris, i'll call home to let ppl know I've arrived safely, I'll be with a tour group so if i get lost it'd be nice to be able to call the tour manager before they leave without me, or ppl whom I'm with, call for help, also when i arrive back to the US, call for a ride home.
So all in all, I want to be able to do a little bit of calling, maybe a few text messages here and there, and probably a little more data usage if I was to use a digital map, walking directions, post something on Facebook or twitter.
Any other options/comments I may not have noted? Thanks for your help for now.

I spent 10 days in the UK in June, and I brought my iphone. I put it in airplane mode and turned on wireless--there are lots of hotspots all over the place in Europe. That way I didn't incur data charges but could, once or twice a day, upload pictures and check email from home.
If you need phone or texting services while traveling, this is not the way to go--buying a pay-as-you-go phone once you get there may be a better choice. But if the things you want to do are accessible via wireless (facebook, etc.) then airplane mode + wi-fi is certainly a viable--and free--option.

  • Coated & Uncoated swatches, Why do we have both?

I was a pressman for 15 years so I understand what the differences are in the Pantone books and why they are needed when printing but what is the reason we have separate libraries for coated and uncoated Pantone colors for digital work? I have a glossy screen at work and a matte screen at home, do I need to change swatches when I take work home? :D
A funny story about colors, I had a marketing manager I worked with for a while who could not comprehend how prepress worked. I would send vector files to a screen printer in black as a matter of course but the manager would freak out and tell me to send the files in the color she wanted the ink to be. No amount of explaining could convince her that we would not receive black printed t-shirts when we specified blue ink on the work order. Guh. Then she tried to blame me when one batch of shirts came back in a brighter green than she liked. I showed her that the PMS we ordered was not what we got back and that the printer would reprint with no problems.
She left to go work in retail. g'bye!

    >they take care of it.
This is all that counts. I started as a teenager in the business of graphic arts but did not have my first experience on press until I was about twenty, that was 1965, already having 4 years expereince mostly with mechanical art and paste ups, paste sticks hadn't been invented but we did have rubber cement and rulling pens and rapidograph pens as well.
Which were a technological advance over the ruling pen but spilling ink was an often crash like experience that made the computer a much needed replacement. But there are crashes and lost of work. Archiving work was also a problem and looking for old art work was often a futile experience.
So the more things change the more they are the same.
You zstill have to understand what makes things happen.
I worked over the years with many professionals from Europe where there is a pretense to not even know the ins and outs of tyhe other guys field. A graphic designer does not tell the press people how to run the press or suggest another way of doing it you can only tell them what they have to accomplish, they have to do it. A good trade off you can go to dinner and not worry about it.
But here in the U.S. you have to tell them or they do not feel they have to do it it is your responsibility to make certain you have everything right. Anything out of place then they will not bother to point it out or do anything aboput it. Always looking for an opportunity to charge more.
I am basuically a photographer now and seldom even make prints for my clients I sell them scans or charge for any prep work, like retouching, and supply them with the files.
I leave them with the control of the images after that and for any publications I cvontribute to I never interfere with the production of the images, since most of them are European or Japanese I seldom have a problem with reproduction.
So I find myself in a similar situation as you find yourself, it is best to know however whezn things do go wrong as to why that has happen and give directions on how to correct or on how to avoid such problems.
Again the more things change the more they are the same.
You still need the knowledge and experience.
There were always people whot thought well you just give it to the printer, it's simple

  • Should I keep Classic or Nano video or even Both?

I have both the new 80g classic and the ipod nano video 8g. I don't know if I should keep both. I like the to use the nano when I go for a jog in the morning but I also like the classic because it holds all the music videos movies and pictures. I know for christmas I am getting the ipod Touch. That will leave me with three devices. Ipod touch has the wi-fi which is very appealing to me when I am on the hot spots or on the airport, I can just leave the other two ipods and take the ipod touch. If anybody can give me a suggestion on what to keep or reason to even have both. Thanks

I would collect them all. Get the shuffle too.

  • Differences in LC2 and LC3 even both currencies are same

    Hi Experts,
I hope everyone is doing well. I have an issue with Local Currency2 and Local Currency3.
Here my issue is when I post an invoice using Transaction Code MIRO the amount in Local Currency2 (USD) and Local Currency3 (USD) is different even though both the currencies are USD. Please find the below example.
Pstg Key  Account   A/c Short Text      Amt in L Cur  L Curr         LC2 Amnt                  LC3 Amnt
         31        234567    Venodor Account         9.137,26-    AUD       6.708,58- (USD)      6.708,58 (USD)
         86        568568     Purchase Price Var     8.306,60     AUD             0,00  (USD)      6.098,71 (USD)
         83        556321     Ex Rate Var Settle            0,00     AUD       6.098,71  (USD)           0,00  (USD)
         40        586974     VAT Asse                     830,66     AUD          609,87  (USD)        609,87 (USD)
Local Currency : AUD,   Local Currency2: USD,   Local Currency3: USD
In the above stated example there is no problem for the accounts 234567 and 586974. But for the accounts 568568 and 556321 the amounts are different. There should not be any exchange rate difference postings i.e to account 556321. I am not able to find out how it is posting to exchange rate variance settlement account (556321). Please help me what could be the reason for these differences.

  • ...::: iTunes 8 :::... Did they even bother testing it before releasing it

What where they testing itunes 8 on??? I really want to know? It's been a great year or so with the iPhone. Upgrade after Upgrade... it was a nice smooth sailing... here comes iTunes 8 and POOOFFF...
This has been one of the most fustrating upgrade that I have ever done. Besides scrambling to get answers on why my iTunes 8 wouldn't start after upgrade... I now have lost all my playlists, songs / movies / etc... Everything.... Do you know how much time it takes to arrange over 4,000 songs.... Are you guys kidding me???
So i guess just for the heck of it... I'll ask...
Is there a way to recover your playlist from and i-phone and/or ipod touch. Most of these 3rd party software don't even work with iphone / ipod touch.
    Many Thanks

I am just talking about videos that I have shot with correct transfer codecs and imported into Apples' very own Final Cut Pro and just want to see correctly what I could see before smoothly in QT 7.4.5 and earlier. I have long given up QT for viewing anything .avi or .mp4 and use the preferred VLC software. However, QT and FCP are in bed together for obvious reasons. Let's face it... QT does not play everything, nor do I think they try to. No on can survive viewing with QT alone.

  • If I move documents from 'All My Files' to 'Documents' should they still appear in 'All My Files'? Why are they in both places, that seems like doubling the documents?

If I move pages from 'All My Files' to 'Documents' should they still appear in both places?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Of course. "All my Files" look in all your folders for documents, pictures... and it shows all of them there even if you have them in Documents folder. Don't worry about it

  • Dropped calls and no service in my house...why am I even paying a phone bill?

I've been a Verizon customer for probably around 6 or 7 years now. I've had plenty of different devices and was always happy with my phone. A few years ago, service started to get horrible in my house. I would barely get service and my phone would drop calls. I have spent hours over the past 2 years on the phone with reps. Some were very helpful, and some were very frustrating. I have put in service tickets and even changed out my phone to try to get better service. Let me also note that AT&T customers get perfect service inside of my house. I don't even want to hear the excuse that Verizon doesn't guarantee service inside of a building due to building materials. The last time I checked, I didn't rebuild my house in the past few years with new materials. I use my cell phone for business when I'm at home, so it is extremely important that it works inside my house. I put my most recent service ticket in almost 2 weeks ago and there is STILL no resolution. I also won't accept if the only resolution is me buying a network extender.. I'd rather pay an early termination fee and leave before I'd ever spend money on another Verizon device. I have had 2 reps in the past week tell me that they would call me back and I never hear anything. I also have been told that they would resolve it by a certain date, only to find out that now they are saying it's going to stay open until they can figure it out. I rely on my phone for work now more than ever since I recently starting working from home, so how can I accept the fact that I am waiting around and paying for a phone that doesn't work when I need it the most? For all of my trouble, they offered me a $20 credit on my account. I shouldn't even use the word "offered" because I was the one who mentioned that I should be reimbursed for my time. I'm so sick of wasting my time on the phone and I am truly disgusted with Verizon. As a long time customer who has spent thousands of dollars over the year paying for Verizon service, I would expect to be treated much better than this.

I am not in the same boat, Verizon works absolutely everywhere I go and I am super happy with the service. If the service started not working however, and I got no resolve, I would just cancel it and switch providers. No point in paying for service you can't use, especially where you live.
