Why do we use Allowed Operations in DML Process

Hello,
Why do we use Allowed Operations in DML Process ??
Can you please clear this confusion:
I am using apex 4.1. oracle 11g R2 SOE ...
Using the Wizard, I created a Form and IR on Dept Table...
In the form page:
- Create Button
The name is "CREATE"
NO Database Action
- DML Process
Allowed Operations: nothing is checked
This will insert a new row in the Dept table
In the form page:
- Create Button
The name is "CREATE2"
Database Action : insert
- DML Process
Allowed Operations: nothing is checked
This will insert a new row in the Dept table
So, What difference does it make if INSERT check box in Allowed Operations of DML Process is TICKED OR NOT ??
Regards,
Fateh

P.S  I,m a newbie.
Yes, you can also, e.g. include a help file or manual as html and open that in the browser.

  • How to use DDL-Operations in before processing the form

    I want to drop and create a sequence when i make a form with
    WEBDB at the part "before processing the form" where i can add a
    PL/SQL code in a varius text area.
    Sybille Krvnert

    not sure in webdb how to do that, but I think you can put the
    code in the before proccessing form and after processing form
    block. In portal that should work, or you can place code in the
    button events for the save/insert/update buttons to do that like
    this:
    create sequence .....
    doInsert;
    drop sequence ....

  • Why r we allowed to create String objects with & without using new operator

    While creating any object, usage of the new operator is a must...but only for the string object we can create it with and also without new operator how is it possible to create an object without using new operator.

    Because Mr. (Dr.?) Gosling is a kindly soul who realizes that programmers have deadlines and, when he designed Java, was not so rigid or unbending as not to realize that from time to time, certain shortcuts are warranted, even in a relatively pure language such as Java. The direct String literal assignments are a shortcut over using the new operator making Java programming (and execution; there's also a performance benefit) more streamlined.
    So look not the gift horse in the mouth, but simply bask in the simplification and ease on the eyes and directly assign your little literals to your heart's content.

  • Why not use "new" operator  with strings

    why we not use new when declaring a String .because in java String are treated as objects. we use new operator for creating an object in java .
    and same problem wiht array when we declare array as well as initialize .here we are alse not using new for array
    why

    Strings aren't just treated as objects, Strings are Objects.
    As for why not using new for Strings, you can, if you want.:
    String str = "this is a string";
    and
    String str = new String("this is a string");
    do the same thing (nitty-gritty low level details about literals aside). Use whatever you like, but isn't it simpler not to type new String(...) since you still need to type the actual string?
    As for arrays, you can use new:
    int[] ints = new int[10];
    or
    int[] ints = { 0, 1, 2, 3, ..., 9 };
    But the difference here is you are creating an empty array in the first one, the second creates and fills the array with the specified values. But which to you often depends on what you are doing.

  • Why we are using FILLPV and GENTPB operations?

    Hi Experts,
    Please Explain Why we are using "FILLPV0" ,"FILLPV1","FILLPVT","FILLPV6'.
    and 'GENTPB 0", "GENTPB * ", "GENTPB 01R", "GENTPE B".
    I have a scenorio,
    hrs?16
    -<
    hrs=dxxxx
    hrs-16
    adddbyyyyz
    GENTPE L
    COLOP*
    -=
    FILLPVL
    COLOP*
    ->
    FILLPVL
    colop*
    I confusing about what is "L"
    and where it stored?.
    why the need we fill procesing type L when =,> ?
    by using that Fillpv what is the further process.?
    where XXXX is a time type which have 17.
    YYYY is also timetype which stores 1.
    so my question is when we add that 1 to timetype yyyy what is the need to call "GENTPB L"
    and what process will done when we cal that "gentpb l"
    and when xxxx = 16
    we are filling "FILLPV L"
    L is assigned with some wagetype 4xxx.
    what process is done when when we use this "FILLPV L' operation.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Mahesh.

    Hi Harish,
    Thanks for your reply,
    so
    When we use FILLPVM operation any specific wage type related to overtime  will be populated from table "t510s" ?
    according to your help i assume this rule

    ---hrs=s
    ---adddbxxxx

            |---gentpe   m
            |---adddbyyyy
            |---fillpvm
        here that 2 hours will split into overtime and stored into yyyy timetype.?
    and  that fillpvm will cal the specific wagetype related to overtime?
    please let me know if i am wrong.

    Check to make sure you are not typing your message in the Subject line.  If you are, it won't let you send the message.  Cut and paste the message into the Message field and you should be all set.
    FYI, you can disable the Subject line from your messages in Settings/Messages.

  • Why do I use my ipod as a camera when I lose precious photos even when I try to back up before an update! Selling my ipod at the first chance I get

    Why do I use my Ipod tiuch as a camera when lose precious photos of my granddaughter every time there is an operating system update? Even when I try to back up the ipod, I can't find the pics etc on my pc. It is very annoying and I am seriously considering selling my ipod because of this. No warning is given that photos will be lost. So very disappointed in aple, lost all my music last time, as well as my pics.

    Yes, using the windows photo capture application is how you get photos taken with the iPod onto your pc. You should store them there, and organize them in folders.
    Create one main photo folder. Inside that folder create additional folders to hold photos. Each folder will become an album on an iPod, iPad, or iPhone. Do not next any other folders inside the first album folder.
    Then start iTunes on your pc and connect your iPod. Select your iPod in itunes and select the Photos tab that will be ps enter. You will most likely have first find your main photos folder. Ten select to sync all photos from your pc or select only those albums you want to have on your iPod. The click on Apply or Sync. That will copy the photos to your iPod.
    If you should do something later to cause these albums to disappear from your iPod you can quickly copy them back by doing another sync.

    Ever since I installed Leopard I've noticed this happening more and more - especially when I install an external hard drive or unplug my ethernet line - this is plainly weird and never happened under Tiger - the temperature shoots up to 84° also - I always to a restart to get rid of it but it's kind of worrying....anybody have any ideas?

    Had this happen myself.
    It does have something to do with Spotlight/searching. Should go away after a while, or so I have heard from other users, 'cause it hasn't stopped driving me and my fan mad yet.
    Am going to have my MacBook index and follow-up on indexing and whatever else it feels is necessary to finally allow me to search in peace over the weekend while locking it away where I can't hear it.
    Hopefully that does the trick.
    If it wasn't for things working better/faster and most things looking better I might actually consider taking Leopard off again ...

  • Get users from Global Address List (GAL) using FindPeople operation of Office 365

    I need to find details of all users using FindPeople operation. If I perform any search by giving value in the <QueryString> element, I get result from both GAL + My Contacts but if I remove the QueryString, I am forced to provide folder name in which
    to search else I get "Internal error" resonse.
    Is there any way I can retrieve/browse all the users in GAL ?

    >> I need to find details of all users using FindPeople operation
    How big is your GAL ? the problem with using a QueryString if you want all users is even if you use a string like SMTP: this will only return the first 100 entires in the GAL. There is a note in the link Laeeq posted that states " When
    searching the GAL as the primary search folder, you must specify a query string instead of a restriction, because this operation does not allow for browsing of the GAL."
    One way you can use to browse the GAL using this operation is to use the Guid of the Gal (or other address list you want to browse) you can get the Addresslist guid using the Get-GlobalAddressList cmdlet
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa996579(v=exchg.150).aspx and then you can use code like
    FindPeopleType fpType = new FindPeopleType();
    IndexedPageViewType indexPageView = new IndexedPageViewType();
    indexPageView.BasePoint = IndexBasePointType.Beginning;
    indexPageView.Offset = 0;
    indexPageView.MaxEntriesReturned = 100;
    indexPageView.MaxEntriesReturnedSpecified = true;
    fpType.IndexedPageItemView = indexPageView;
    fpType.ParentFolderId = new TargetFolderIdType();
    DistinguishedFolderIdType contactsFolder = new DistinguishedFolderIdType();
    AddressListIdType adList = new AddressListIdType();
    adList.Id = "2117949e-abe8-4915-91eb-9999f867fd8de";
    fpType.ParentFolderId.Item = adList;
    FindPeopleResponseMessageType fpm = null;
    do
    fpm = esb.FindPeople(fpType);
    if (fpm.ResponseClass == ResponseClassType.Success)
    foreach (PersonaType PsCnt in fpm.People) {
    Console.WriteLine(PsCnt.EmailAddress.EmailAddress);
    indexPageView.Offset += fpm.People.Length;
    else {
    throw new Exception("Error");
    } while (fpm.TotalNumberOfPeopleInView > indexPageView.Offset);
    Cheers

  • Can anyone tell me WHY Oracle won't allow sub-queries in outer joins?

    Hi,
    I've recently been tasked with converting a series of InterBase dbs to Oracle.
    Many of the queries in the InterBase dbs use sub-queries in outer joins. Oracle won't countenance this (01799 - a column may not be outer-joined to a subquery).
    I can get around it using functions but WHY won't Oracle allow this?
    SQL Server allows it, InterBase allows it (I don't know about ANSI SQL) but it seems to be a common enough technique...
    I'm just curious (and also a little frustrated!).
    Thanks in advance,,,

    Hi,
    >>Oracle treat an empty string as a NULL
    Well, you same answer your question. Because it is empty
    SGMS@ORACLE10> create table tab (cod number, name varchar2(1));
    Table created.
    SGMS@ORACLE10> insert into tab values (1,'');
    1 row created.
    SGMS@ORACLE10> insert into tab values (2,' ');
    1 row created.
    SGMS@ORACLE10> commit;
    SGMS@ORACLE10> select cod,dump(name) from tab;
           COD DUMP(NAME)
             1 NULL
             2 Typ=1 Len=1: 32
    SGMS@ORACLE10> select * from tab where name is null;
           COD NAME
             1Cheers
    If you talking about language tools, for example PHP treat empty string <> of NULL values. e.g: functions like is_empty() and is_null()

    Put it this way... if you have blueprints for a car you wouldn't want to produce only one car, would you? You would want to produce as many as needed. In another example, you don't want to be able to use only 1 window in Windows. Each window has common features but have different values. That's the purpose of non-static entities
    However, there are instances that you want to have only one value for something. That's when you use static entities.
    Get it? =)
