Why does a "script' text in design appear as non script (block) in browser preview in CS5 on a Mac?

I have amended text within the design field and selected "Brush Script MT Italic. In the design view in Dreamweaver CS5 it appears in this script but when I preview it either in Dreamweaver "preview in browser" or after uploading and viewing in browser the text appears in a non script format.

I am using a Mac with Lion OS. I have tried many script font but the result is the same.

There are only a minimal amount of web safe fonts to be used in your webpage design. Frush Script MT Italic is not one. What happens is it might display on the computer that has that font, but on a person web browsing computer, if the font is not installed, then it will use the default font (usually times new roman or equivelant on Mac). It is best to stick with the web safe fonts (google it) unless you use the font in a graphic.

These forms are not embedded correctly. I'm surprised they even work. You need to go to the distribute tab, click Embed button, copy the embed code provided and then paste that into your HTML. Why does a SQL Azure DACPAC upgrade (via a PowerShell script) consistently take 30min to complete

I created a PowerShell script to upgrade a SQL Azure instance with my latest DACPAC (taken from http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee634742.aspx).
What I have experienced when running my PowerShell script is that it consistently takes approximately 30min to execute. The script is idle for almost half an hour waiting on $dacstore.IncrementalUpgrade($dacName,
$dacType, $upgradeProperties) to return from execution and nothing is printed out on the PowerShell console window. Only right at the end of the half hour does the incremental update start spitting out console messages which inform me that
the upgrade is taking place (essentially it appears that the script has hung for 30min until it finally comes back alive and the script does this consistently every time).
Does it usually take this long for the IncrementalUpgrade to complete and is there supposed to be a 30min period of inactivity/waiting?
Note that I am running the PowerShell script from my local machine which is external to the Azure network.
Thanks for any insight you can give for this, I am hoping that I can reduce this incremental upgrade process to substantially less than 30hr so that my continuous integration build doesn't take so long.

According to Microsoft Support this is a known issue and will be fixed in SQL Server 2012 (code named Denali). Here are the details from Microsoft Support:
It’s a known issue that using SSMS 2008 or PowerShell to update DAC on SqlAzure is very slow. SQLServer 2008 utilize old extraction engine which run query for every column and small object. This way works well at on-premise server, and meets
SQLServer 2008 original design target. However, when managing the SqlAzure database, the query need be transferred over internet, network latency makes the old extraction becomes inefficient, especially, when network is not good.
Our SQL product team aware this issue and designed new extraction engine to fix it. The new engine is integrated in SQL Server 2012 (code name Denali). Unfortunately, some of the engine behavior may bring break changes to SQL Server 2008. We try
different approach but we can’t relief regression barrier when apply the new engine in the SQL server 2008. Therefore, we don’t have plan to deliver the new extraction engine as hotfix on SQLServer 2008 so far. That will impact the current on-premise
users and operation.

I am sure they will say it is in the small print and you should have read it and what you got was these 'Really Cool Trailers'......but come on Apple - don't screw up your BRAND now if you carry on you will have a core problem! My trust is waning.
Its is not like Aple will be stocked-out on the 18th February is it - in reality I guess they just want the money upfront well in advance of delivering the product....just not on Steve will be turning in his grave.....

etresoft, I think you are being unnecessarily harsh to gloriastitz. She is frustrated and doesn't understand computers at the level you do. What she is experiencing is frustrating, so she is frustrated. I have been a help-desk professional for over 15 years now, and emotions are part of the business.
I know it has been over 6 months since gloriastitz posted her reply. I hope she got a useful answer, but I fear we have satisfactorily scared her away from seeking help.
So, the first best response to tell someone is that the problem they are experience is almost certainly fixable, but may require more information to solve. You tell them you understand their frustration (even if you personally don't experience frustration or don't understand why people my express frustration publicly about a problem that frustrates them). It's just good protocol.
Then you work with the person to break down the problem into steps. If you don't have a ready answer and don't think you might even know the answer with sufficient data, then back out and leave it to others to tackle.
I've been having a similar problem with my Mail program. The cause is still unclear to me after vieweing the logs and changing settings where I know them to be. There appears to be a setting that is not clearly placed in any of the typical UI locations for initiating the desired action for either a feed: or mailto: call.

Why does my Ipod touch 4 generation keeps going back to home page when browsing in the apps store.
I called apple 5 times today and asked me to restore it 3x the problem still exists. This problem starts to occur yesterday after upgrading to IOS6.
Apple customer service is not good enough as they cannot fixed the problem or tell me that I can change the unit as I just bought this 2 months ago.

Because there is a bug in iOS 6 that effects the 4G iPod touch.

Why does nothing show up in Design view?

I'm using DW CS5 and creating a page to upload as a Facebook tab. I'm working in code view and the only thing I have in the code is an image. When I switch over to Design view, it shows nothing. But clicking on live view or previewing in browser shows the image perfectly. In Design View, the screen is gray instead of the normal white and there are two icons (one resembling a think bubble and the other a piece of paper). If I click on the little icons, the gray screen turns white but clicking doesn't allow me to edit or place anything new in Design view. Does anyone know what's going on? I can't continue unless I can see the image and click on it in Design view since I'll be mapping the image to link to another page!

Why does my high res photoshop image appear blurry when placed in InDesign and Exported as PDF?

Hi there,
I have a problem I've been trying to solve for days but just can't find the answer anywhere on the internet.
I have a large, good quality photoshop file (2268 x 979 pixels, resolution 300 pixels per inch). When I place it into InDesign, the image appears OK (I've changed my display settings to HIGH) - I then resize it in InDesign to 10% and the file still looks great! Then, when I export it as PDF (high quality print) it looks blurry.
Does anybody know why? The strangest thing is, I've placed other photoshop images in the same InDesign file and they look crystal clear. It is just this one I am having trouble with. I've saved it in the same folder as the other pictures, I've tried placing it as psd. , jpg. , photoshop pdf, png. everything...
The image looks great in both photoshop and indesign, only when exported as pdf it looks awful.
Any help will be greatly appreciated,

It's probably the extreme reduction -- you're throwing away 90% of the image pixels and interpolating, and then using jpeg compression on top.

Why does some published text maintain font/format randomly on a page?

I'm pretty good with this stuff but can't figure this one out: When designing 1-word links on any given page, all using the same font/size, all in a vertical list, for no apparent reason some of the text/links, when published, maintain the font/format precisely, while some do not and by default choose a "similar" font? I've been forced to create picture files of individual links to maintain their look, thereby losing the roll-over and re-size capacity.

Why does my scrolling text not work?

I have a JavaScript code which scrolls some text in the status bar when the page is loaded in IE, why won't it work in Firefox?

Tools > Options > Content : JavaScript > Advanced > Allow Scripts to: [ ] "Change the status bar text"
Firefox 4 won't have the Status bar anymore, so there it won't be possible at all without an extension.

Why does my font/text change when I switch from Classic 3D to Ray traced 3D in After Effects?

My font/text changes when I switch from Classic 3D to Ray traced 3D. Why is it doing this? Also, I cant get the font/txt to look the same after I switch from Classic to Ray traced. How can I get it to look the same?

I am pretty new to After Effects so I hope it's not my inexperience that's causing the problem. (It probably is)
I just updated to the most current version of AE.
I am on a mac pro late 2013 12GB 6 core. Running OSX 10.9.4
Okay so after looking at it a little closer, I think the color is what mostly changes. The first screenshot is the what the text look like with Classic 3D and the second screenshot is what it looks like after I change it to Ray traced 3D. Also under the "Mode" section..the pull down that says "Normal" disappears. I'm wondering why the font color is changing?

Why does the directory ~/var/log keep appearing?

It doesn't matter how many times I delete it, every few hours the blank directory ~/var/log gets created on my computer.
I think it may have something to do with my Brother HL2170W printer, which is connected to my wifi network. But that's just from the fruitless googling on this topic I've already done.
Does anyone know why a blank ~/var/log directory would persistently appear?

~var/log/ is a directory that holds log files. If it actually has a ~ in the name, some software is trying to write to the hidden directory, but has been miss-configured and is creating the directory you see instead of writing to /Users/username/var/log. ~/ is short for your home folder, but the program is actually writing that as part of the path name instead of being a path.

Why does water mark text becomes invisible?

I have a pdf document with a water mark text on the top of its first page.
The text is visible when opening the document in a Acrobat Reader version 5 and 6 but its transparent when using Acrobat Reader of higher versions (I still can mark it and copy the text).
Do you have any idea why its happening and how to fix it?

You probably need to talk to the makers of the virtual printer. It
