Why does setting up a new eprint address procedure reach a dead end?

About 30 minutes after posting this message, I starting trying again. I was having the same problems. Eventually, I started to get suggestions for names - a list of about 6 - after clicking CHECK. But, then when I would try those names - they didn't work. Then I tried the name I had originally wanted - and bingo! The dialog box returned a message saying the name was available. There was also a SAVE button in the dialog window. I saved it, the dialog window closed, and the intial page refreshed automatically showing the new address.
Yay! But, should I have had to go through all of that? And then, logging back into these forums! There were renewed difficulties. I had to - once again - change my password. Which I had to do to post my original message below.
Anyhow, I still think this process needs to be addressed. It shouldn't be so troublesome.
ORIGINAL POST
I am trying to personalize the eprint email address for my HP Officejet 7500A Wide format printer.
( Although, I think the model has nothing to do with the problem in general. )
I had little trouble signing in to the eprint centre and forums. Yay!
( I had some trouble, but that's another story.)
Step 1. I found the page for setting up a new address. My initially issued address is displayed correctly. (hidden here by me) And I clicked the 'Change' button. (under arrow)
Step 2. I saw my initial address correctly in the dialog box and window that popped. (above arrow)
(There are some browser display problems with that dialog window, but, again, that's another problem.)
Step 3. I enter a 'new' address conforming to the naming rules. And, click 'Check' button.
Step 4. A useless 'dialog' window appears. There's no message - no 'save' - no 'accept' - no 'change' button...the only option is to click the X and close the window.
(Yes, I tried various names. Yes, I tried waiting various times. No, I'm not an idiot.)
Step 5.I saw my original address is unchanged.
I tried the 'Refresh' button.
My browser window refreshes.
The address is the same.
Step 6. I clicked 'Refresh' again. I checked my email for confirmation of the change or a request to authorize a change or something that would make sense.
( I started to think bad things.)
Step 7. I searched the various forums, with various keywords without any luck. So, here we are. A new post.
Any constructive help in solving this problem will be appreciated. I have very high to superior computer and networking skills, so uninformed gibberish about 'firewall' 'browser' 'personal hygiene' or similar, will be ignored. TY

Hi HW,
The PBX is a Panasonic TA308. There is no special interface to the PBX,  the  line port on the SPA3102 is simply plugged into an extension, like another phone. Anyone calling that extension will have the call routed through the SPA & PAP2 to the remote phone.
The whole setup is totally seamless, & transparent to the user. As we are on a local network there is virtually no latency. There is a slight tendancy to echo,  but the echo suppression mostly takes care of that.
THis has been a good exercise, and once I got my head around what I was trying to do, with your help,  it was pretty easy.  I think the hook flash timing would be the thing which gives most users a problem, as it seems to vary widely around the world. I was surprised at the difference between the US and NZ (.1 & .9 to .07 & .13).  There didn't seem to be any other critical differences.
Now I am the local expert on VoIP   "In the Kingdom of the blind, the one-eyed man is King."

    Welcome to the Forums.
    The flickering issue maybe due to a bad LCD cable or in some cases, a faulty GPU (the GPU is integrated to the CPU, and the CPU is soldered to the motherboard).
    If there's still no image on the screen even after connecting an external display then you likely have a bad GPU.
    In this case, I recommend you contact support for service (and also to see if there's a consideration that can be done on the warranty repair).

    Golden Shoes, I did the thing you posted and Safari seems to be working fine, thank you.
    However, I may be ignorant on this matter but I was a bit paranoid about possibly my account info going 'thru' these servers. So I figured, why in Gods name would those IP addy's have anything to do with Safari working or not, considering all the other system specific instructions you gave to fix Safari.
    I just assumed OpenDNS is simply an 'option' to maybe speed up the internet a bit.
    So imagine my surprise when I deleted those DNS addresses (which again, are blank by default) opened up Safari and the dang thing beachballed immediately on me. I put them back in and Safari worked!
    So my big question is.....What The Ffff??? Why does some services ip addresses having ANYTHING to do with whether Safari works or not? I find that, on the face of it, astounding....and KLUDGY, yes?

    Safari does not require OpenDNS servers to work; millions of users use without that and it works perfectly fine for them. It's merely an option to avoid some of the more questionable practices of ISPs, such as intercepting incorrect URL requests with advertising.
    If you removed OpenDNS servers from your preferences and discover problems, something else is going on to cause them; it's not OpenDNS or the lack of it that causes the problem. It could be your ISP having trouble with their servers; issues with your router; a proxy server that doesn't work correctly, etc. It could be any number of things, but without even more details and a crash or hang report, we're just guessing.
    Did you try creating a new user account and testing Safari there to see if you have the same problems in that new account? That would be a useful test.

    The procedure is Settings>Messages>Send & Receive at>You can be reached by iMessages at>Add another email address. The email address has to be a valid working email address, obviously. Apple should verify the email address and you have to go to the inbox of that email account, read the verification email from Apple and follow the inductions in the email in order to complete the verification. Then you go back to the settings, uncheck your email address and check the new email address to be used as the contact email address.

    I don't understand how I got a new email address with iCloud.  My mobile me email address was [email protected]  That still shows up in Mail.app as iCloud except that I can no longer log in.  Now there is a new account in Mail.app named [email protected] for which I don't know the password.  How can I get this fixed?   I really don't want to change my email address for every contact that I have.

    Apps will always be tied to the account from which they were purchased and will always need to be updated using that account.

  • Why does Mail 'check for new messages' despite it being set to 'manual'?

    I want to only receive new email either once per hour or better still manually (once or twice during the day at a time chosen by me). That way I won't be bombarded with emails all day and can get on with my work.
    So, I set the 'check for new messages' to 'manually'.
    Nevertheless I get email coming in frequently. Possibly every time I send an email, it also checks for new incoming mail (I'm not sure but that's my hunch).
    How can I stop Mail from pulling in my new incoming email?
    Any answers to this? If I can't figure this out or it's not possible in Apple Mail, it might be time to switch (but I don't want to!)

    When I open a new tab...the link on the new tab shows the link of the page I'm previously on. Some of the other page had that effect too. But some website doesn't seem to be affected(ex: Twitter)

    Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

    I am unable to get into the ecenter on eprinter. Even when I try to rest password it does not recognize the email address. When I try to create a new one, it says it already exists. I m using my personal email account. Please help.

    If you are having issues logging into your ePrintCenter account try logging in using the Snapfish icon on the "Sign In" page. It is the small blue icon with a black fish on it located on the far right of the icons below the login and password fields.
    If you are still unable to login with this icon use the "Forgot Password" link with the Snapfish icon and try to have your password reset. If this works, you should receive an email with a temporary password you can use to login to ePrintCenter.
    Let me know if this works for you or if you need additional assistance.

    My email address from work has a subdomain: "[email protected]".
    Although my mac Mail account is set up correctly with that email address in the account settings, when I send mail, users receive it showing that the sender (from:) is "[email protected]" - it drops the subdomain and replies to that address get bounced back.

    Sure it does. What you see in Sent is what Mail sends to the outgoing (SMTP) server. If the message gets changed afterwards, some agent other than Mail (probably the outgoing server) is doing it...
    I know that Gmail’s outgoing server, for example, does this. In order to be able to use Gmail's SMTP server with another address, you must first enable that address in Gmail's Settings > Accounts page, and let Gmail validate it by verifying that you do indeed own it. If you don't do this, even though Mail will correctly send the message from the address you specify, Gmail's SMTP server will silently change it to the address associated with the Gmail account that corresponds to the username specified during SMTP authentication, instead of refusing to send the message as other SMTP servers would do in those circumstances.
