Yes, many times. Also I have reloaded the driver software and even tried other drivers from Synaptics web site too - all to no avail!!

Why does my macbook shut down when the lid is closed?

I have a Macbook Pro (mid-2012) running 10.9.1
Last week out of the blue, the Macbook started shutting down whenever I close the lid.
When I open the lid, the logon screen appears (as if it's been asleep as normal) but almost immediately reboots itself.
Has anyone else got the same issue? Any idea how to resolve?

If after you open the lid you do get the login screen, almost immediately, but then it restarts your system is not shutting down when you close the lid. It is going into a sleep state but then crashes when trying to come out of that sleep state. There are quite a few posts on this problem and it seems to be caused by the system going into the Deep Sleep state also known as the hibernate mode. That is where the contents of the RAM is written to the hard drive and the system suspends supplying power to the RAM chips so the system uses even less power then in regular sleep mode.
That is only supposed to happen after the system has been in the regular sleep mode for an extended period of time.
To check the state of the huiberbnate mode open terminal and type in, or copy and paste, this command.
pmset -g | grep hibernatemode
To check the state of all power management settings use the command.
pmset -g

My TC has amber light blinking, but the internet is working.

This Apple wireless device has a private IP address on its Ethernet WAN port. It is connected to a device or network that is using Network Address Translation (NAT) to provide private IP addresses. You should change your Apple Wireless device from using DHCP and NAT to bridge mode.
What should I do? I have the Netgear CG814WG which is a modem/router. I want the TC to be the main router, but I do need the Netgear to transmit a "G" network. Basically, I will have a dual network "G" and "N".

The normal method for constructing a network is to have the modem/router at the head end supply the DHCP and NAT functions while secondary routers are placed in Bridge mode. Your network would function correctly if the TC's connection sharing were set to Off (Bridge Mode). In this case, the Netgear would function as your main router creating a "g" network and the TC could be configured to "create a wireless network" which could be "n" if you desire.
However, you specify that you want the TC to be the main router, supplying the DHCP and NAT services. This might be possible if the Netgear can function literally as two completely separate devices; One a modem and two a router. Even then, the modem would need to be configured as a bridge since the TC would be furnishing the connection credentials.
And, it gets more complicated. Does the Netgear have this capability? Probably not as I quickly glance at the web page on the product. My impression is that it was likely designed to be an all-in-one modem/router. Do you have additional information to the contrary?

Someone before you must have done it. Connect your iPod touch with your computer. In iTunes, under Devices, select your iPod touch, click Restore button and set up your device. Everything should get back to normal.

Why does ID create a CSS when option is not selected in export to ePub?

I am using InDesign 6 to create ePub books. I want to use my own CSS so in the Export to ePub options I am leaving the setting "Include Style definitions" unchecked. I then list my CSS under additional CSS. When I create the ePub and then examine the files included I see that there are 2 CSSs, mine and one created by InDesign. Why does InDesign create a CSS when the "Inlcude Sytle definitions" is left unchecked?

Because that is the way that CS6 exported EPUB.
EPUB is a fast moving target and has moved way beyond what CS6 can export. With each update from InDesign CS6 to InDesign CC to InDesign CC 2014, and even to the latest update to CC in October, there have been major changes to how InDesign exports EPUB. It no longer does it that way, and you have much more control over the process in InDesign CC.
Because InDesign CS6 is never going to change, it's best to work at modifying what they do export, unless you want to upgrade to InDesign CC.

This is usually an indication that your headphones/earbuds are not plugged all the way in. Double check the connection and make sure that no metal from the jack is showing.

Why does the amber light stay on even though the WiFi works?

My WIFi just stopped yesterday.
Initially nothing worked. I then Restarted the router—then the Airport Extreme–NOTHING. I called Apple support. He had me push the re-start button and a few other things. I can now get on WIFi, but the amber light still stays on. Why? Although my Mac works great, my iPhone doesn't.
Any ideas?

I would recommend that you do the following as a minimum:
Power-down the modem, AirPort base station, and computer(s).
Power-up the modem; wait at least 10-15 minutes to allow it adequate time to initialize.
Power-up the AirPort base station; wait at least 5-10 minutes. Note: The AirPort's status light may continue to flash amber after it has intialized. That is because, there may be some additional configuration items necessary, like setting up wireless security, before the overall setup is completed to get a green status.
Power-up your computer(s).
If the above steps do not solve the problem, start over with step 1 above, but then perform the next steps between steps 1 & 2. above.
Disconnect the AirPort base station from the Internet broadband modem.
While all of the devices are powered-down, perform a "factory default" reset on the base station. This will get it back to its "out-of-the-box" configuration and make setting it up much easier, especially if you use the "Assist me" process within the AirPort Utility. (ref:Resetting an AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule)
After the base station resets, go ahead and power it back down.
Reconnect the AirPort base station to the Internet broadband modem. For the Extreme and Time Capsule, be sure to connect the cable to the base station's WAN (circle-of-dots) port.
Continue with step 2 in the first set of steps.
In this basic configuration, the AirPort base station will broadcast an unsecured wireless network with a Network Name (SSID) of Apple Network NNNNNN. Network clients, connected to the base station either by wire or wireless, should now be able to access the Internet through the ISP's modem. Once Internet connectivity has been verified, you can use the AirPort Utility to configure the base station for wireless security and any other desired options. Please post back your results.

Hi, My Apple TV 1st generation is showing the apple logo and the amber light keeps blinking, after a while it shows a little Apple TV with a question mark blinking on top, any ideas?

Well my question says it all. I wasn´t using the apple tv, but noticed that the amber light started to blink, so I put it on the tv and there was the apple logo. I did the recory with the "MENU" + "-" button, but came back the same. After a while it showed a little Apple TV image with a "?" mark blinking on top. I disconected it the whole night but today is doing the same. Is like it got stuck on the restart. Can anyone help me?

Fixed it after trying everything listed here with no success.
First you will need to make sure you have the ability to connect your ATV box directly to your router via a cable. This issue is directly related to networking from my experience and once connected to wifi you will have a nightmare of a time to complete the fix.
1. Make sure you have NO network connection to the ATV box.
2. Hard reboot ATV using remote (aim remote at device and hold "menu" and "down/minus" until amber light blinks)
3. When ATV reboots to a diagnostic menu select "Factory Restore"
4. After Restore has completed select a language
5. You cannot skip the the wifi selection screen without setting up a connection, however: DO NOT SETUP WIFI! Instead plug in the direct cable to your router, and hit the menu button on your remote. You will see "connecting to network."
6 Once you are past the start up splash video you will eventually arrive at the connect to itunes screen which will start looping the apple logo and a new code about every 2 seconds. Disconnect the network cable.
7. After a few seconds the loop will stop. Press the menu button to skip the itunes connection (you will be able to do it later.)
8. At the following menu go to Settings > Screen Saver > Set delay for "Never"
9. Go back to the main menu, then go to Settings > Network > Configure TCP/IP > Click on "Using DHCP"
9. Click "Done"
10. Connect cable to router, and then proceed with updating your ATV.
After I was updated the problem did not return.
I have completed this solution personally twice on the same unit. After getting updated and stable, I recovered my ATV again, and had the same problems again. Repeated these steps and good to go.

My Time Capsule does not recognize internet after DSL problem. I can hard wire my computer but cannot get TC to do wireless. How do I reset? I have unplugged for a reboot but the amber light is flashing.

I had a problem with DSL service provider. They have corrected their problem but now, I can only hard wire into my desktop for internet access. If I plug in through the Time Capsule, I get no wireless service. I unplugged the Time Capule and rebooted but now the amber light is blinking tellimg me that it cannot access internet. So, I have hard wired back to my Mac and need to know how to get the Time Capsue to recognize the internet when I plug into it.

Start with a factory reset and do setup over again.
If the DSL modem is working as router.. which will be the case for most people then the TC must be in bridge mode..
The Factory Reset.
Power down the TC.
Hold in reset. and keep holding it in. Be Gentle! It is a tiny surface mount switch with a plastic lever.. Attempting to push it out the other side of the TC will not make the switch turn on better.
(I fix TC and have several reset levers bent over and jammed or broken off).
Power on the TC.. remember with the reset held in.. this needs three arms.. a friend or power switch you can get to with your feet..
Keep holding in reset for about 10sec until the front LED flashes rapidly.
Release reset and wait .. the boot will be slow as it deletes previous setting.. only from router side and pulls out the factory defaults. No files are deleted on the hard disk.. but the name of the TC may change.

If you can't sign in, then you can't troubleshoot and/or pair the keyboard until after that........ so, for that, you will need to borrow someone's USB wired keyboard in order to get signed in and to the Keyboard Bluetooth Preferences.
